✓ WON +$4 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1500m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: This is a maiden where the pace might drag its feet, which actually helps the horses that can jump and settle without losing positions. Win Star (No.7) is already the clear speed anchor in this race set-up, and with the Soft 5, he can keep momentum without needing a perfect late burst. Wurzburg (No.4) looks the danger because of the gear attention, and when the market doesn't kill him, you've gotta take a swing at the honest on-pacer.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Win Star (No.7) — $1.25 / $1.02 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$3.75
Prob 68.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why Clear best speed profile and the right sort of setup for Soft 5, plus he's the one everyone else has to pass.

2. Great Times Ahead (No.3) — $4.20 / $1.60 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.67x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Wurzburg (No.4) — $11.00 / $2.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.1% | Place: 25.2% | Value: 1.41x
Why Price value is real, and the gear changes scream improvement, he just needs the race to break his way.

Roughie: Until Next Time (No.6) — $14.00 / $3.50 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.6% | Place: 19.1% | Value: 0.68x
Why The roughie path is to snag a gap on the turn and keep grinding, but with place divs too thin, it's a risk-limited play.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1800m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: Over 1800 on a Soft 5, slow pace usually means everyone's trying to come from the right spot, but the wind up the straight makes it harder for the backmarkers to finish off. Maremoto (No.11) is the standout presence, and he looks like the kind of horse that can keep his rhythm. Kowloon Magnate (No.5) is the one that's in the race for place value, but the real value swing is Quartzopolis (No.6) if the market's telling porkies about the finishing speed.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Maremoto (No.11) — $2.00 / $1.17 🏆 3RD
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 42.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.25x
Why He has the best platform to keep picking them off in a slow-tempo setup, and soft track suits his run.

2. Kowloon Magnate (No.5) — $3.60 / $1.57 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.5% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.61x
Why A real chance — but at $1.57 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Whiskey Warrior (No.8) — $8.50 / $2.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.5% | Place: 54.2% | Value: 1.12x
Why He's the kind of horse that can hold a line late, but I'm not overshooting the stake.

Roughie: Quartzopolis (No.6) — $12.50 / $2.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.34x
Why Path to winning is real if he gets a soft run and a mid-race breather, but he's not the one I'm forcing.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Benchmark 65, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Leaders: Tasman Bay
Punty read: Now we're cooking. With genuine pace, Exuberance (No.5) is the sort that can sit closer than a usual backmarker and pounce when the leaders start trading punches. Pearls In June (No.7) is the short price and might get the run, but Soft 5 plus a sharp 1200 can turn into a "who's still got gears at the 100" race. Breezin' (No.1) and Ready For Aimee (No.2) both have claims, but I'm leaning into the horse with the right running style for this tempo clash.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

2. Ready For Aimee (No.2) — $3.30 / $1.37 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.9% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.04x

Prob 4.3% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 1.08x

✗ MISS -$2 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Leaders: Anderlay
Punty read: 1000 on Soft 5 is chaos speed. The ones that can be in the first few and not get trapped in the mud are the ones that survive. Hell Or Heaven (No.11) looks like the best bet to hit the line, with the market giving him a respected position. Speedy Crown (No.4) has the style to press, Buttercup (No.8) is the one who can keep hitting the line too. The danger is the wide chaos runners that might get forced into trouble.

Top 3 + Roughie ($9.00 pool)

1. Hell Or Heaven (No.11) — $4.50 / $1.62 🏆 2ND
Bet $9.00 Each Way ($4.50W + $4.50P) — Cashed, net -$1.71
Prob 24.6% | Place: 50.4% | Value: 1.38x
Why Best mix of pace pressure and staying power for the Soft, plus he's built to take the next step at 1000.

2. Final Crusade (No.10) — $3.60 / $1.60 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.1% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.83x

Race type: Benchmark 78, 1800m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: Slow 1800 on Soft is about who can keep their engine on without going backwards, and that's why Hot Majesty (No.6) and Lennox (No.2) are getting attention. The issue with races like this is everyone can feel a bit stuck, so you want the horse that can control the trip and then hit the line with momentum. Slipsain (No.10) is the value place sniff for me because the run style matches what Soft 5 rewards.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Leaders: Quickzou
Punty read: 1200 with genuine pace and a Soft 5 means you're chasing the horse that can handle pressure early and still sprint at the end. Meet George (No.6) is my main weapon, Quickzou (No.10) is the other honest speed, and Bat Out Of Hell (No.1) is the one to respect if the race turns into a speed duel. Fireforce (No.5) feels like the sneaky third who can run on through the middle.

✓ WON +$2 Final

Race type: Class 1, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: This is where the race turns into a chess game. On Soft 5, 1400 is plenty enough distance for positions to matter, and with moderate tempo, you can't be too far back or you'll eat dirt the whole way. Maquisa (No.9) is the play from the better profile, Swanfels (No.12) is a market gamble type that can still land in the finish, and Elnajeeb (No.1) is the one that can make it interesting if he holds his spot early. The rest are mainly fighting for scraps, which is cruel, but that's racing.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Eagle Farm on a Soft 5 with the rail out and a bit of wind trying to ruin your finishing burst. This is one of those meetings where the front paddock gets away with murder early, then you've gotta catch the right runner when the others are starting to look for excuses.

If you're hunting value today, you do it the proper degenerate way, with shape, not vibes. Slow pace maps are gold on the wet, because the early speed does the heavy lifting and the wind up the straight punishes late swoopers that haven't travelled.

My spine is simple, Big 3 first, then let the multirace chaos do its job. Race 1 is a likely "good thing", Race 2 is where the right horse can still be a play, and Race 3 brings the right kind of wobbly at the right price. After that, we build our quaddie lane like we're trying to win back a month's worth of bad decisions.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Eagle Farm, middle distance 1200-1800m card
Rail: 10m
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play on-pace)
Weather: Possible shower, 22°C, humidity 69%, wind 18km/h E (watch for gusts)
Early lane guess: Wide-ish early, but the rail run is handy if you find the right trail
Tempo profile: Soft track, but the wind up the straight favours runners that are already in the fight
Jockeys to follow:
Jai Williams: consistently gives horses every chance on wet going, plus he's involved in the right speed maps.
Jace McMurray: his mounts look like they're travelling into the bit, and today the pace pressure is real.
Taylor Marshall: when the market makes sense, he tends to cash the advantage.
Stables to respect:
C J Waller (2 runners): knows how to ready them, and he lands in races that suit their pattern.
Annabel & Rob Archibald (2 runners): their types are sneaky on soft, with plans that come together late.
T J Gollan (2 runners): gate to track intent, if they've got them close, they're usually there at the end.

Punty's take:

This meeting is pace versus persistence. With a Soft 5 and an east wind adding headwind up the straight, you want horses that can stay in range, not those that need a miracle gap. If the leader gets an easy time, the jockeys will milk it, and everyone else has to wind up from traffic. So my attention goes to barriers that let horses get comfortable, plus those map factors that scream "I'm built for this ground".

Race 1 is the opener, it's a maiden plate, and the market has already pinned one horse down like a shopping list. Win Star (No.7) is the type to go forward and make it boring. Around him, I still like Wurzburg (No.4) as the price that might actually run the race, because the gear change looks like a "right, now we mean it" move.

Then it's on to Race 2 where Maremoto (No.11) looks like the honest speed in the race, and with a soft track, the ones that can hold position are the ones that keep finding. Race 3 is where we spice it. Pearls In June is short-ish, but I'm on Exuberance (No.5) because this looks like a genuine tempo that suits a proper grinder through the middle.

What it means for you:

Play the front foot in the wet, especially around Eagle Farm's straight where that wind makes late lunges harder. So in the early races, be aggressive on the likely leaders and the ones sitting just off them, because the "too far back and praying" plan is a crapshoot today.

Book your big bets with structure. Race 1 and Race 2 are my confidence base, and Race 3 is the price lever. After that, I'm using the quaddie lanes because those last four races are where mares, first-ups, gear changes, and soft-track quirks can turn a tidy ticket into a bonfire. If you want dividends, you need at least one of the lanes to have you covered when one outsider runs through the line like it owes you money.
