✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1125m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, speedsters still need a touch of luck early

Punty read: Voltrix (No.6) maps to sit closer than people think, with gear first-up that can sharpen concentration. Big Lap (No.4) is the danger because he looks like he's been aimed at a break-through, and when the race is slow, the "best timing" horses get paid. Avery Anna (No.7) is right there as the classy type that just needs clean running. The roughie angle is Servenia (No.3), she's got excuses in her pocket and can sneak into the trifecta if traffic breaks her way.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Voltrix (No.6) — $4.05 / $1.32 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 34.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.02x
Why Gear gets added for focus, and he's built to handle a slow tempo, then hit through the finish like a door being kicked in.

2. Big Lap (No.4) — $4.10 / $1.37 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.07x
Why A real chance — but at $1.37 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Avery Anna (No.7) — $5.35 / $1.57 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.03x
Why New nose band, likely to run honest, but I want the better price or the cleaner edge, not both.

Prob 5.0% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.99x

✓ WON +$10 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1525m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, pace advantaged horse gets first look

Punty read: This one's a two-horse story with the rest needing interference and timing. True Rebel (No.10) is the one, straight-up, because the way this race sets up means you want something that can actually hold position and keep finding. Meness (No.8) is the obvious saver for place if you want to hedge, she's got the class profile to run a cheeky race. Trentino (No.3) is the value shout if you're chasing a price for the quinella or trifecta, but she's not the main story for win.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. True Rebel (No.10) — $1.75 / $1.01 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$9.75
Prob 50.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.40x

Prob 35.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.94x

✓ WON +$26 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1425m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, advantage to the horse that can hit the line first time

Punty read: Stipulation (No.12) is the "just get to the right spot and let it happen" type. This track and trip rewards those who don't overcook it early. Fringilla (No.3) is the logical on-speed counter, Roebuck Plane (No.9) can sneak into the money because the blink-and-run style can work when tempo stays modest. Delahra (No.2) is your value roughie only if the race runs her kind of way, because she needs a run that turns into a lane.

Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Stipulation (No.12) — $2.90 / $1.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$24.70

Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$1.25
Prob 20.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.66x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1325m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders get challenged, not pampered

Punty read: Conquer The World (No.9) is the lead-and-hold sort, and in a genuine tempo race that's deadly if he's hitting the front without getting bullied. Whitebait (No.11) is the obvious place-friendly stalker, and Discover Lupino (No.2) is the one for the quaddie players who still believe the "good thing" can be value. Tanabata (No.13) is the roughie type only because she could find a lane when everyone else is busy fighting for position.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Conquer The World (No.9) — $2.40 / $1.35 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 54.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.23x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Restricted 62, 1325m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, leaders still set it up properly

Punty read: This is Aradeo country, Cushioned is the place-and-pray type for the exacta crowd, and Cyber Link is the "if she gets there first" danger. The pace is slow enough that the right horse can kick and hold, but not so slow it becomes a picnic. I like Aradeo to be around the mark turning, that's when you find out if the race is yours.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Aradeo (No.8) — $3.90 / $1.70 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 22.5% | Place: 65.2% | Value: 0.98x
Why She's got the right blend of map position and late strength, and 1325m at Geelong is prime "get home" territory.

2. Cyber Link (No.2) — $4.30 / $1.80 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.05x

Bet Tracked
Prob 16.9% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.13x

Roughie: Sumaluv (No.11) — $9.40 / $3.30 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 28.5% | Value: 0.96x

Honky Cat Saloon (Bm78)
2440m · Benchmark 78; · 16:20
✓ WON +$52 Final

Race type: Benchmark 78, 2440m
Map & tempo: Slow and staying, so positioning matters more than big swings

Punty read: This is a grind race. Autumnheat (No.6) has the best shape to keep working through the last turn, Dragoon (No.2) and Shultzy (No.3) are the ones who can still lift when others start to fold. Black Peppermint (No.4) is in the mix if she keeps a clear run, but 2440m punishes anything that gets stuck. If you're chasing a winner, I want it from the ones that look like they can travel without falling apart.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Autumnheat (No.6) — $5.95 / $2.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$51.98
Prob 21.3% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 0.95x
Why Staying race instincts, and she's the one I trust to keep making ground late without needing a miracle.

2. Dragoon (No.2) — $7.20 / $2.45 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.5% | Place: 63.5% | Value: 1.16x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Shultzy (No.3) — $6.45 / $2.45 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 52.3% | Value: 1.11x
Why Class is there, and if she's not doing too much early, she can run on.

Roughie: Dictionary (No.1) — $24.50 / $4.00 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.5% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.75x

Race type: Benchmark 62, 1525m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, this is a proper contest

Punty read: Just Desserts (No.1) is the clear leader type and they've got the job to do early. The value in the race comes from Stay Humble (No.2) because she's the one that can sit right where the race splits and still kick when asked. Lunar Force (No.7) is the value third, with the type of run that can snag a place when the leaders are fighting each other. Mickidabeel (No.3) is your roughie for those who love a "big late ask".

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

Prob 7.5% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.34x

✓ WON +$1 Final

Race type: Benchmark 66, 1125m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, 1000m mindset at the business end

Punty read: It's A Yes (No.8) is the obvious on-speed threat, and Pure Passion (No.12) is the one that looks like she can keep improving into the finish. Rosangela (No.5) is the value play because she's the kind of runner who can turn into a racehorse when the lanes show up. Sea Poem (No.6) is the danger for place and might run a cheeky line if it's not too crowded, while Mr Assertive (No.10) is the roughie for the place crowd.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. It's A Yes (No.8) — $4.40 / $1.85 🏆 4TH
Bet $7.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.00
Prob 20.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.92x
Why Pace map suits, short course means quick decisions, and she looks like she can hold the front-end rhythm.

2. Pure Passion (No.12) — $7.20 / $2.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.17x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Geelong on a Good 4 with the rail out and bugger-all rain, today feels like races are won by the bloke who's travelling, not the bloke who's hoping. It's the kind of card where you can absolutely snipe a couple of proper prices, but you've also got to respect the ones doing the work early. Pace is there, speed's there, and when the gaps open, you pounce like you just saw daylight in the pokies line.

My spine for the day is simple, 3 horses, straight through the middle, then we sprinkle value lanes where the market looks jumpy. I'm leaning into place for a heap of these, because at Geelong the finish is honest, if you're coming, you can hit the line. Now let's get into it.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Geelong, 1125m-2440m card
Rail: Out 6m Entire Circuit
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Fair speed, finish matters)
Weather: Sunny, 17C, humidity 53%, wind 7km/h, gusts 13km/h (watch for a lively breeze in the run-in)
Early lane guess: Mid to near rail early, then expect a bit of outside stalking when leaders set it up
Tempo profile: Slow to genuine in patches, so if the right horse has the map, they get paid
Jockeys to follow:
Dylan Dunn: gets on mid-pack types and lets them run, clean tactics.
Damian Lane: class act, especially when the horse is set to roll forward.
Craig Williams: doesn't panic, if a horse is ready to go, he makes it look obvious.
Stables to respect:
L & T Corstens & W Larkin (2 runners): Avery Anna set up with new gear, these are "turn up and try" runs.
D T O'Brien (2 runners): Kissattack in Race 2, plus tempo-aware placements, they know when to strike.
C J Waller (2 runners): big Geelong presence across the card, if Waller's got one primed, it's usually there.

Punty's take:

Geelong today is a "get position, don't get trapped" track. With the rail out 6m, lanes do show up, but the real money is still in those horses that can either control it early or at least sit within striking distance without being asked too early. Slow pace races are where you want the on-paces with just enough run, because everyone else ends up doing the long walk turning for home.

The market's got a few big opinions, and a few of them drift like a Benny Hill chase. Keep an eye on the horses getting backed hard out of position, and the ones that are firming that actually map to do something, not just sit on $3.50 hope. My favourite vibe is "right horse, right map, right gear call", that's where you separate Legends from ticket munchers.

For the day's main hits, it's a race-by-race job, but I'm building you a spine with the three most likely winners across the card, then I'm leaning on the right roughie only where there's a believable path to winning, not when it's just a lottery ticket with a horse name.

What it means for you:

If you're looking for winners, Race 3, Race 4, and Race 2 are where you're meant to be aggressive. Those fields have clear pace shapes, and the picks are sitting on the side of the speed, not on the side of "maybe they'll find it late".

If you're playing for profit and not just vibes, you protect yourself by using Place where it's locked in, then you get slightly braver when the market moves look justified by the run style. Racetrack-wise, the "held up then made up ground" stories matter today, because Good 4 still rewards a clean run. If the horse's last run was a mess, you want to see them with a map that can avoid that mess this time.

Rightio, let's park the chatter and start clocking it.
