R1
Retro Raceday – Sunday 4 Oct Hcp (C3)
1000m · HANDICAP · 15:29
✓ WON +$16 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, leaders engaged early
Punty read: Last Stylebender (No.1) is the meet's early stabiliser. Barrier 1, speed on the page, and the finish should be straightforward if they don't get clipped early. The threat is that this is 1000m, so even with a good map, one bad moment can turn your race into a wrestling match. Coondle (No.4) is the sneaky middle runner, but Diego Dynamite (No.6) and Something Royal (No.5) are pressure runners that can shove the leader around before the straight.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Last Stylebender (No.1) — $2.30 / $1.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet $12.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$15.60
Prob 43.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.27x
Why Map is leader-friendly, and the horse actually looks like it's been clocking fast runs at the line.

2. Rise To Glory (No.2) — $3.00 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.0% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.71x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Something Royal (No.5) — $4.60 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.5% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.97x
Why Could run on, but the market's already telling you it's more "place hope" than "win certainty".

Roughie: Diego Dynamite (No.6) — $13.00 / $3.90 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.3% | Place: 16.7% | Value: 1.03x
Why If the leaders start eating each other alive, this one can pick up the broken pieces late.

1100m · MAIDEN · 16:04
✓ WON +$26 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, on pace pressure
Punty read: Official Business (No.2) should get every chance to do the simple thing, lead or sit handy and hit the front before they're really sprinting. The danger in maidens is chaos, but at this level the market tends to know when a horse has the raw ability to put the others away. Around it, Frosted Warrior (No.3) and More Darling (No.14) are the "if it gets ugly, I get paid" options.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Official Business (No.2) — $2.70 / $1.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$25.50
Prob 38.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.21x
Why It maps on the right part of the track, and the race shape suits a controlled start.

2. More Darling (No.14) — $4.20 / $1.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.99x
Why A real chance — but at $1.80 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Frosted Warrior (No.3) — $8.50 / $2.55 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.12x
Why It can run a cheeky race, just not enough to justify a saver cost when the market has the leader bolted.

Roughie: Bourbonontherocks (No.6) — $9.60 / $2.35 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 37.0% | Value: 1.09x
Why The roughie angle is about a smart trip and a late pick-up if the leaders flatten in the scramble.

✗ MISS -$2 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, more room to move late
Punty read: This is the sort of maiden where the race can turn into a tactical chess game, then someone suddenly remembers they're meant to run. Faradio (No.1) is the one that looks like it can translate its fitness into a real finish. Rory's Revenge (No.3) is the obvious contender, but at this trip, you want the horse that keeps finding in the last 300m. Ruthless Bloom (No.9) is there for the place and possibly the upset, if the whole race spreads and they run out of road for the backmarkers.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Faradio (No.1) — $4.00 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — Cashed, net -$2.28
Prob 25.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.33x
Why 1600m suits a horse that can do the ground work, then stay in the fight when everyone else starts wilting.

2. Rory's Revenge (No.3) — $2.55 / $1.35 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.91x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Ruthless Bloom (No.9) — $4.00 / $1.60 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.9% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.35x
Why Value is there, but the plan is built around one primary each-way anchor today.

Roughie: Rock Silver (No.4) — $11.50 / $2.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.0% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.51x
Why Roughie path is a mid-race sit and then straight-line acceleration when the pace finally gets moving.

✓ WON +$16 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace expected
Punty read: Grey Ol' Day (No.8) is a straight-up "if it jumps, it runs" type. If it can get into a rhythm early, the +4m rail makes it harder for the stalkers to steal momentum. Run Rupert Run (No.9) is the logical pressure runner, and Mon Visage (No.13) can sneak into the finish if there's any traffic. Majestic Mirage (No.14) is the roughie for when the race breaks open late and someone hits the line hard.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Grey Ol' Day (No.8) — $2.20 / $1.30 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$15.60
Prob 34.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.11x
Why It has the pace profile to control the race, and it should keep finding in the straight with runners trying to chase it down.

2. Run Rupert Run (No.9) — $5.00 / $2.00 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.8% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.14x
Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Mon Visage (No.13) — $5.00 / $2.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.50x
Why It needs everything to go right, and I'm not buying those conditions at odds like this.

Roughie: Majestic Mirage (No.14) — $10.00 / $3.20 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.15x
Why Roughie comes into it if Grey Ol' Day gets swamped early, then everyone starts running for spots.

✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow early, then sprint hard late
Punty read: This race screams "the one that gets it right early is the one that wins". Unanswered (No.6) is the key, with the style that suits a slow tempo sprint where you can wind up late. Miss Billie Jean (No.14) is in the mix too, and Xelcimus (No.3) has the upside if it finally breaks through with cleaner running. California Playboy (No.10) is your roughie price for an all-in finish, especially if the leaders start to drift across the track.

Top 3 + Roughie ($16.50 pool)

1. Unanswered (No.6) — $3.70 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — Cashed, net -$1.84
Prob 26.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.24x
Why It looks like it'll be there when the tempo finally changes, and each way is the right angle with a slow 1300m maiden.

2. Miss Billie Jean (No.14) — $4.80 / $1.95 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.95x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Xelcimus (No.3) — $5.50 / $2.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.0% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 1.11x
Why If it wins, it wins, but the day plan is keeping the money tight where the value is.

Roughie: California Playboy (No.10) — $6.00 / $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $6.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.00
Prob 7.1% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.67x
Why Roughie win scenario is there, but I'm taking the safer place angle because the finish should string out late.

Procon Northam Cup – Sunday 25 October (Bm50+)
2200m · HANDICAP · 18:28
✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Handicap, 2200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, staying game
Punty read: This is where you get punished for backing the wrong kind of run style. Ah Kum (No.10) has the best "get involved" profile for a place salute, and Icandoit Onmyown (No.9) can run on like it's got unfinished business. Olden (No.4) is always dangerous at this trip if it stays in the right part of the track. Heavenly Rapture (No.6) feels like the sort that can hit the line hard, but it's more about whether the race sets up for it rather than pure class.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Heavenly Rapture (No.6) — $3.60 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 19.5% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.96x
Why Each way suits 2200m, where spacing at the finish creates place opportunities for horses that run on.

2. Olden (No.4) — $3.10 / $1.52 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.80x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Ah Kum (No.10) — $7.50 / $2.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.42x
Why Big place leverage, but not today's extra stake, because we're already doubling up via Heavenly Rapture.

Roughie: Icandoit Onmyown (No.9) — $12.00 / $3.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 29.9% | Value: 0.95x
Why Roughie path is a patient ride, then a late sweep if the front end tires and the back half of the field keeps rolling.

Fashions Of The Field – Sunday 25 October Hcp (C5)
1400m · HANDICAP · 19:05
✓ WON +$25 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, runners can find positions
Punty read: Decoration (No.1) is the cleanest story on the board. It sits close enough and has the right grit to keep taking ground. Pure Obsession (No.6) is the danger if it gets the right run through the middle. My Jimmy (No.8) is the tough customer underneath at a price, but it might have to hit the line with a bit of luck. In a C5, that luck matters.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Decoration (No.1) — $4.20 / $1.65 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$25.02
Prob 26.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.32x
Why Strong fit to the tempo, plus the each way makes sense in a handicap where the finish is often crowded.

2. My Jimmy (No.8) — $3.20 / $1.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.80x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Summer's Legacy (No.3) — $5.80 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.5% | Place: 46.0% | Value: 0.97x
Why Needs the right run to get into the winners circle, and the plan is keeping this race focused.

Roughie: Pure Obsession (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.55 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.8% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.31x

✓ WON +$37 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, on-pace chances
Punty read: Billionaire's Row (No.2) is your logical lead-in for the day, especially with how these C1 handicaps usually split, the better gallopers show up near the front and keep picking them off. Hot Chix Lane (No.6) is value lurking, it's the sort that can keep coming without needing fireworks. Hey True Blue (No.1) is a danger if it gets a run that doesn't cost it ground.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Billionaire's Row (No.2) — $5.50 / $2.15 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$36.73
Prob 19.8% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.34x
Why Solid on pace profile and a handicap style that usually runs honest late, perfect for each way insurance.

2. Jemconi (No.7) — $3.30 / $1.62 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.5% | Place: 58.8% | Value: 0.69x

3. Hot Chix Lane (No.6) — $7.80 / $2.45 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.21x
Why It's live for a place, but this ticket's already covering the risk with the primary.

Roughie: Hey True Blue (No.1) — $6.50 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.5% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.08x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Northam's a Good 4, rails are +4m and the track should play fairly honest, so the smart money's gonna love getting first dibs early, then everyone else has to earn it in the straight like it's the final scene of a bloody Aussie crime drama.

This meeting feels like a speed script with a couple of proper plot twists. Race 1 is basically "shorty vs chaos", because Last Stylebender looks built for the map and the market already knows it. Race 4 is the classic Northam trap, where the leader can look invincible until someone drifts out wide, hits the line running, and ruins everyone's confidence. And Race 6 is a staying handicap where you actually want to be watching for the horse that gets a trip, not the one that burns early like it's chasing a livestream.

Now, my Big 3 spine is locked. If you're following along at home, this is the day plan: take the likely winners in the key races, then let the roughies do the damage where the price is sneaky.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Good 4, 1000-2200m card
Rail: +4m Entire
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed first, then sit and sprint)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 22°C, humidity 40%, wind 18km/h WSW (watch for gusty finish runs)
Early lane guess: On-speed lanes, especially early in the 1000-1400m races
Tempo profile: Moderate pace early, then it should quicken in the last 200m when they start finding gears
Jockeys to follow:
Patrick Carbery: usually gets them into a rhythm, and his horses suit when the race isn't too wild
Brayden Gaerth: keeps horses in the play, good for the "sitting trip then pounce" types
William Pike: tends to be deadly when the tempo sets up, especially in staying races and maidens
Stables to respect:
Mitchell Pateman (4 runners): firing early, and his horses look ready to strike rather than toy with it
Simon Miller (3 runners): sharp with horses that can run on, and often finds the right moment in the run
Luke Fernie (2 runners): does well when the run style matches, and brings in horses that can handle the sting in the straight

Punty's take:

Northam on a Good 4 with the rail out +4m means you can get away with a forward position more often than punters think. In these conditions, the "stand off the speed and hope" strategy gets punished, because the inside lanes are doing their job and the leaders get first say.

Race 1 is a straight-up clash of tempo. Last Stylebender (No.1) is the sort that cops the perfect run, then keeps going, while Something Royal (No.5) and Diego Dynamite (No.6) are the obvious speed-and-pressure threats. Coondle looks the classic overachiever type if the market goes to sleep, but I'm not betting sleep, I'm betting the light.

Race 2 is set up for the favourite to be hard to beat. Official Business (No.2) should be able to hold a stalking spot close enough to pounce, while the danger is that a maiden race can turn into a melee. That's why I like taking the safe win angle early, then looking for a place role for the mid-priced runners.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive in the races where the map is clear. That's Race 1 and Race 2 for me. If you're the type who only bets when you're fully certain, today still rewards you, because the early speed is real and the short prices are short for a reason.

Then when the meeting turns a bit wobbly, you shift gears to the place leverage and the each-way angles. Race 3 is where Faradio can win, but Ruthless Bloom is the one that can take the rest of the field's momentum and turn it into a proper place payout. Race 6 and Race 8 are where you want coverage because staying trips and handicap marks turn races into strategy problems.

If you're chasing the "one ticket that makes you grin", follow the Big 3 Multi spine, then build your quaddie lanes. Don't overcook it, just let the structure do the heavy lifting.
