2270m · Maiden · 15:05
✓ WON +$16 Final

Race type: Maiden, 2270m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leaders should get a say, Cold Shower running the show
Punty read: This is a straight-up Soft 6 maiden staying-test where you either respect the leader or you find a stalker that can stay in the race without burning a match. Cold Shower (No.2) has the pace map slot and the market's treating it like it's on a mission, time rank and those sectionals tell you they've had it ticking over. Around it, Al Jadith (No.1) profiles as the one who can grind home, especially with the bounce excuses stacking up for others that got held up or interfered. For the rest, it's "can you overcome being a backmarker in heavy conditions", because the straight is the decider at this trip.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Cold Shower (No.2) — $2.20 / $1.13 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$15.60
Prob 30.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why Genuine speed, sectionals are doing the heavy lifting, and it's positioned to carry them rather than chasing them.

2. Al Jadith (No.1) — $5.60 / $1.72 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.04x
Why A real chance — but at $1.72 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Locked In (No.4) — $7.40 / $2.10 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.84x
Why Could hit the frame, but the profile wants too much to go right from the back.

Roughie: Gradivus (No.3) — $9.50 / $2.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.3% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.85x
Why Gear change helps the back-end punch, but it's still a "speed collapses" type path.

✓ WON +$16 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1765m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, so you need the right position without being posted too deep
Punty read: Maiden at 1765m on a Soft 6 where the tempo's slow, so the run tends to be about acceleration at the right time, not about dragging it out from the front. Fringilla (No.9) is the one I want, because it sits on the pace map and the market's being sensible about it. Murshidi (No.8) is the danger to the "one-speed only" idea, it's in the market enough to respect. If they string out, you can see a nice first three play with Fringilla and Murshidi, then the outside chaos comes from the ones that can put themselves into the race without getting trapped.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Fringilla (No.9) — $2.25 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$16.25
Prob 43.4% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.40x
Why Pace map fits, and it's priced like a real threat rather than a hope.

2. Murshidi (No.8) — $3.30 / $1.57 🏆 2ND

Prob 27.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.22x

3. King Winston (No.7) — $10.00 / $2.90 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.9% | Place: 38.5% | Value: 1.19x

Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.15x

✓ WON +$12 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1447m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, the on-pace types can steal it if they get breathing room
Punty read: This one's Hedjet's race unless the field starts doing dumb stuff. Hedjet (No.3) is on-pace, has been travelling through races, and with Soft around it, those run paths matter more than usual. Silky Seth (No.7) is next best because it's showing that it can hang around in the right part of the field and keep grinding. Ambitious Achiever (No.1) is the value angle because of the first-up and it's got that "one more step" profile, even if it needs everything to fall kindly. Marco Polo and Tecknoking are there for minor money if the front gets clogged.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

✓ WON +$37 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1247m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, short-course where position is everything
Punty read: Short race, Soft 6, and everyone's chasing the same little pocket. Mr Natural (No.6) is the one I want, because it's got the profile to be close enough without getting stuck, and that's where maiden chaos lives and dies. Civic Square (No.4) and Faster Link (No.5) are your early pressure and grind options, but you need them to run straight and not get swallowed by the boggy feel. Bureau and Perfect Dismount are "if they find a gap" types, and Abydos is the longshot that needs a full script.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Class 1, 1147m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, so the sprint is about timing, not brute speed
Punty read: This is one of those Geelong sprints where the first couple of bends feel like a queue, then suddenly everybody's sprinting like the lights are about to go out. Turbo Saint (No.3) is the one. It's on-pace, the last win style stacks up, and it's the sort that can grab a tidy run and hold on in the Soft without getting forced to do extra work. Shaadrille (No.5) is the main alternative, especially if it lands right behind the leader and can hit the line with zero interference. Ladhar (No.8) is the price play for the trifecta watch, but it's asking for the right gap.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

✗ MISS -$0 Final

Race type: BM62, 1247m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, short dash where place leverage matters a heap
Punty read: This one's a proper bet-and-wait race. On Soft, these 1247m jumps are about positioning and then surviving the bend. Power And The Beat (No.2) has the market attention and it's got the on-pace map that gets it into the race early without being too far away from the leaders. Insain Harry (No.3) looks like the best place play because it has the run style to keep picking up late, and Purgatorio (No.9) can sneak into the trifecta if the race turns into a scramble.

Race type: BM66, 1447m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, on-pace types can capitalise if they get balanced
Punty read: Bella Verona (No.2) is the horse you circle if you believe the map and the form vibe. It's got the right sort of profile to stalk and then let down when asked. Lyrics 'n' Song (No.5) is the one that can run home with it, and Charming Deel (No.6) is the sneaky threat because it keeps finding reasons to be in the finish. Mount Sabyinyo is your value roughie if the race opens up, but on this sort of tempo, the leaders and the stalkers tend to keep the decision making to themselves.

Race type: BM62, 1765m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, staying feel where position and rhythm win fights
Punty read: Stay Humble (No.1) is the one I'm backing to grind this out. At 1765m on Soft 6, you want a runner that can sit in the right rhythm and not get swallowed by the conditions. Stay Humble's map is on-pace and it's been handling Soft type days, so it should get a fair chance to keep finding. Superstock (No.3) is the value play for the exotics because it can keep itself in play and has shown it can be there when it matters. Kiwi Jenni (No.10) is the other place-minded option, and Mickidabeel (No.2) is your roughie if it gets a better run than last time.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Geelong on a Soft 6, where every run feels like it's wading through gravy. (Perfect.) The rail's out 9m at 1700m to 800m and out 11m the rest, so you get that classic "stick to the right lane until the horse decides it wants to fight" vibe. Pace is genuine in the early races too, so if you're hanging around hoping for a miracle late swoop, mate, you're gonna spend today watching horses die in the wrong part of the track.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Geelong, 1147m-2270m card
Rail: Out 9m 1700m - 800m, Out 11m Remainder
Official going: Soft 6 (expected to play Fairly Deep, speed will be gold early)
Weather: Mostly sunny, 15°C, humidity 54%, wind 20km/h SSW (watch for gusty, cold-start energy, riders being cautious off the put-down)
Early lane guess: Speedy lanes to mid, then widen later (when the pack starts to stick)
Tempo profile: Early races have proper pace, middle and back end is more "who can carry it best" on the soft surface.
Jockeys to follow:
Jamie Mott: rides plenty and can thread through traffic when the gaps are tiny
Beau Mertens: clean hands, and he tends to get horses balanced before they peel
Craig Williams: the bloke who makes the soft-track feel more like a Good 4, if the run is there
Stables to respect:
C Maher (5 runners): readying heaps today, and when they start short they usually do the job
C J Waller (4 runners): strong maiden strike profile and keeps the gear moves purposeful
G Eurell (4 runners): more "quiet assassin" than loud fireworks, but they show up when it counts

Punty's take:

Geelong on a Soft 6 is basically speed versus who gets enough rhythm without getting bogged. With the rail out, you want horses that can either hold a line near the front or sprint through the right section when the bunch stretches. Early on, the map says it's genuine pace in the first four, so the best tactic is simple: back the leaders or back the ones that can stalk them without expending petrol too early.

I'm building today around a spine of three horses that all map in a sensible spot, have market manners, and look like they've got a clear run path. Then I'll let the roughies and lanes do their thing where the race shape gives you an actual "path to winning", not just vibes and prayer.

What it means for you:

Aggression early, protection later. In the maidens, I'm leaning into the ones that either get across early or are prepped for soft-track impact, because Geelong can punish anything that settles too far back without a clear move. In the handicaps, you want the main speed or the right stalker, then you can sprinkle in value where the market's missing a gear/track angle.
