Punty's Punts
Race type: Class 5, 1800m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Kingly Demeanor leading the charge, with midfield stalkers expected to press
Punty read:
This is a long handicap where the leaders get first say, but the wet-ish outside can punish sloppy trips. Kingly Demeanor is likely to push the tempo from barrier 9, so you're looking for the runners who can ride the wake, not the ones hoping to do everything late from no position. Golden Fortune has the profile to grab a run early and then keep rolling, while Ocean Impact has the kind of "if it loosens up" storyline that suits a Good track with storm risk. Sharpen Bright looks the roughie in the group, wide-leaning trips can get you stuck, but if she finds clear galloping room she can lift through the finish.
Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)
1. Golden Fortune (No.9) — $8.20 / $2.30 🏆 WINNER
Bet $7.50 Each Way ($3.75W + $3.75P) — ✓ Won, net +$31.88
Prob 14.2% | Place: 33.5% | Value: 0.93x
Why Maps into the on-pace rhythm and should get first crack when the leaders start labouring.
2. Can't Go Wong (No.1) — $3.90 / $1.60 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.1% | Place: 32.1% | Value: 0.61x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Ocean Impact (No.5) — $8.10 / $4.10 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.0% | Place: 30.1% | Value: 1.45x
Why Value's there, but I'm not stacking the ticket, let him be the value saver only.
Roughie: Sharpen Bright (No.2) — $12.00 / $3.50 🏆 11TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.0% | Place: 22.5% | Value: 1.41x
Why Wide trip last time, if she gets a clean run into the bend she can hit the line better than the form suggests.
Race type: Class 4, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, on-pacers like Winning Money and Hayday looking live
Punty read:
1200m at Happy Valley is a game of positions and timing. Loving Vibes has the market shine but I'm not falling in love with a low price when the place value is screaming the truth. Winning Money has the right sit and should be there when the speed gets tested. Lucky Mcqueen is the sort that can box-seat the right run and slot into the finish. New Power is your danger runner, if the race gets messy and gaps appear late, he can roll into the money and pop the tote.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.50 pool)
1. Loving Vibes (No.10) — $2.35 / $1.32 🏆 9TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 16.6% | Place: 52.5% | Value: 0.52x
Why Strong place profile and should be right in the thick of it, even if the race turns into a scrap.
2. Winning Money (No.4) — $9.70 / $4.10 🏆 7TH
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 15.8% | Place: 42.8% | Value: 1.46x
Why Market support says it, but I'm letting the Win play do the heavy lifting.
3. Lucky Mcqueen (No.2) — $7.90 / $2.60 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 36.3% | Value: 1.00x
Why Solid but not enough edge for me to force it into the main ticket.
Roughie: New Power (No.7) — $13.00 / $3.60 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.3% | Place: 27.3% | Value: 1.44x
Why Roughie path is simple, find clear running and the finish speed does the rest.
Race type: Class 4, 1650m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, so it's about who can unwind and still sprint late
Punty read:
Slow pace races are where "backmarker" can be a fake story, the real test is who still has length at the finish. Sunday's Serenade is the key, she's drawn where she can hunt quietly and then produce the final burst. Decision Link is the other one, steady route and she looks ready to hit her straps. Ragga Bomb is the value rocket, and with the track risk today, the ones that handle a shifting surface and still finish strongly are the real scoop.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.50 pool)
1. Sunday's Serenade (No.4) — $5.90 / $1.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet $8.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$41.65
Prob 15.1% | Place: 46.9% | Value: 0.70x
Why Backmarker map works with the slow tempo, she should be winding up late with cover.
2. Decision Link (No.6) — $4.40 / $1.85 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.3% | Place: 52.1% | Value: 0.87x
Why A real chance — but at $1.85 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Ragga Bomb (No.2) — $21.00 / $4.20 🏆 12TH
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 13.8% | Place: 42.5% | Value: 3.48x
Why That value is real, and she runs at the tempo without needing a miracle.
Roughie: Dashing Maurison (No.7) — $23.00 / $4.40 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 34.9% | Value: 2.87x
Why If the race falls apart late, she's the sort that can swoop and steal a cheque.
Race type: Class 4, 1650m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, ON-PACE and front press will test the stalkers
Punty read:
This one's a tactics playground. Sky Deep is the map leader and she looks built for a steady sit-and-stick. Absolute Honour is dangerous at the front end, she's the kind of horse that holds her ground if the track turns slick. Podium is the big swing, because if the run opens up, her finish can be very hard to stop. Amazing Award is there for the place and the trifecta spice, but I'm not getting cute with too many stories.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Sky Deep (No.2) — $4.60 / $1.90 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — Cashed, net -$0.53
Prob 15.5% | Place: 51.8% | Value: 0.95x
Why ON-PACE map, should keep finding the line, and the class profile is strong for 1650m.
2. Podium (No.11) — $21.00 / $4.40 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 49.3% | Value: 4.26x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Amazing Award (No.9) — $15.00 / $3.80 🏆 9TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.4% | Place: 37.9% | Value: 2.22x
Why Can be there in the last 200m, especially if the rain changes the grip.
Roughie: Sturdy Ruby (No.3) — $18.00 / $4.00 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 26.0% | Value: 1.61x
Why Big price if the race fractures, and her runstyle suits if she gets a lane early.
Race type: Class 4, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, leaders stacked, so you want someone who can keep winning ground
Punty read:
1000m today is basically a demolition derby for position. Superb King has the clean speed profile and looks the one who can keep punching through pressure, not fold under it. Georgian Sigma is the scary mid-priced leader who might be too close turning for home. Grand Nova is the value chance if he jumps and runs at the front, because the line is short and mistakes are punished fast. Vigor Eye is the roughie if the leaders start dropping anchors.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Superb King (No.4) — $3.10 / $1.30 🏆 5TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 22.2% | Place: 71.0% | Value: 0.74x
Why He's the speed engine and the class looks right, he should be in front or right there.
2. Georgian Sigma (No.8) — $3.70 / $1.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.6% | Place: 54.2% | Value: 0.76x
Why A real chance — but at $1.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Grand Nova (No.1) — $9.50 / $2.85 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.2% | Place: 46.2% | Value: 1.40x
Why Value is there, but today is about keeping the ticket clean around the leaders.
Roughie: Vigor Eye (No.5) — $13.00 / $3.70 🏆 10TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 42.6% | Value: 1.68x
Why If the pace heats and he's still rolling at the 300m, he can jump into the money.
Race type: Class 4, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, pocket running should work and you want to be placed early
Punty read:
This is No Other Choice's race to lose. The map says midfield, but the way he usually puts it together means he can sit close enough without burning. The big danger is horses that are stuck wider or get forced into the wrong rhythm when rain makes footing weird. Still, No Other Choice has the "I'm always there" style, and Happy United is the main place threat if the front end stretches.
Top 3 + Roughie ($11.50 pool)
1. No Other Choice (No.9) — $2.65 / $1.40 🏆 12TH
Bet $10.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 17.1% | Place: 52.3% | Value: 0.60x
Why Class and consistency, should track well enough to sprint when the race tightens.
2. Happy United (No.8) — $14.00 / $3.70 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.1% | Place: 30.7% | Value: 2.56x
Why A real chance — but at $3.70 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Majestic Delight (No.12) — $34.00 / $5.50 🏆 9TH
Bet $1.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$1.50
Prob 10.5% | Place: 32.6% | Value: 4.71x
Why Price is spicy, but her profile suggests she can hold a position and not get washed out late.
Roughie: Unstoppaple (No.4) — $7.20 / $2.10 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 1.61x
Why If the pace collapses slightly, he might roll through to grab a place with momentum.
Race type: Class 3, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, ON-PACE and early pressure decides the story
Punty read:
This is a proper Class 3 grind, and you want a horse that can keep finding rhythm. Target Audience looks the best of the "do it every week" types, and Young Arrow is the value swing if he gets that run in the pocket and doesn't get stuck behind traffic. Bright Day is the wildcard runner who can turn into a threat if the leaders overdo it early. The rest are the sort that need luck or a specific run, and in a storm-prone meeting, luck is a bastard to rely on.
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.50 pool)
1. Target Audience (No.5) — $3.90 / $2.80 🏆 2ND
Bet $8.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$8.00
Prob 13.6% | Place: 38.1% | Value: 0.66x
Why Best blend of speed and control, he should be hard to get past in the last third.
2. Young Arrow (No.12) — $16.00 / $4.00 🏆 10TH
Bet $4.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$4.50
Prob 13.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 2.62x
Why Value and place confidence, if the race breaks at the right time he can swoop in.
3. Bright Day (No.9) — $7.50 / $2.65 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.6% | Place: 30.9% | Value: 1.23x
Why Respectable, but I'd rather lock into the two main cashout routes.
Roughie: Aurora Lady (No.1) — $16.00 / $3.90 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.9% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 2.09x
Why Roughie path is patience, then a clean move, and she's got the talent to do it.
Race type: Class 3, 1650m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so the leaders get every chance to hang on and win it
Punty read:
If they go hard up front, Dazzling Fit is the one I want. She can sit in the rhythm and keep building, and when the track gets a bit slippery, horses that maintain momentum survive. Audacious Pursuit is the value angle if the race opens up, and Pope Cody is there to pounce if the pace softens just a touch.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Dazzling Fit (No.1) — $4.50 / $2.30 🏆 9TH
Bet $9.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$9.50
Prob 16.9% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.69x
Why Pace profile is perfect, she looks built to keep grinding to the line.
2. Audacious Pursuit (No.9) — $11.00 / $3.30 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$12.65
Prob 15.3% | Place: 46.3% | Value: 2.21x
Why Value and place leverage, if the pace stays genuine, she can hit the line running.
3. Pope Cody (No.2) — $4.80 / $1.95 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.1% | Place: 39.8% | Value: 0.73x
Why He can run, but I'm not betting the value when I've got the big place play.
Roughie: Uranus Star (No.11) — $13.00 / $3.70 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.8% | Place: 35.7% | Value: 1.67x
Why Roughie wins if he gets the right trip and sneaks into the finish with punch.
Race type: Class 3, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, midfield movement and leaders set-up decides who finishes strongest
Punty read:
The Heir is the one I want to carry the end of the quaddie. He's the sort that keeps finding his way into the finish without needing the world to go right. Motor is your value runner, he has the win ability and the kind of run that can upgrade when the leaders start tiring. Live Wire is in the mix too, but Thunder Kit is the roughie for the sneaky place dividends, especially if the race gets a bit messy.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. The Heir (No.7) — $3.60 / $1.65 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✓ Won, net +$17.06
Prob 16.3% | Place: 42.4% | Value: 0.77x
Why He's the steady closer type with a map that makes sense, should get a run and then keep going.
2. Aurio (No.1) — $5.40 / $2.30 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 42.6% | Value: 0.66x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Motor (No.2) — $9.30 / $2.90 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.7% | Place: 38.3% | Value: 1.79x
Why Value's there, but I'd rather keep this ticket built around the top EW route.
Roughie: Thunder Kit (No.5) — $15.00 / $3.80 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 29.7% | Value: 1.84x
Why Win path is sneaking into the right part of the race and then outfinishing the mid-pack chaos.
That's the ticket as I struck it — the legs below are exactly what ran, no rewriting history.
Smart: 9,12,8,4 / 5,12,9,1 / 1,9,2,11 / 1,7,2,5 (256 combos x $0.31 = $80.00) -- 31% flexi
The day's multi leans on three win legs across the card.
1 - Superb King (Race 5, No.4)✗ — $2.55
2 - No Other Choice (Race 6, No.9)✗ — $2.65
3 - Dazzling Fit (Race 8, No.1)✗ — $3.10

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Happy Valley is lapping up the storm like it owes it money, Good track on paper but the clouds are doing threat management. And with 13 scratchings lurking in the shadows, the day's already got that "anything can happen, fuck it" energy.
I've been looking at the tempo and the barrier map all morning, and this isn't one of those meetings where you just back the obvious bloke and go to the pub. Races 6 to 9 look like proper sequence fodder, wide-open fields with just enough pace to make the right stalking trips pay. If you're the type to grab a roughie and pray, congrats, you and I speak the same language.
My spine for the day is a three-horse multi: Superb King in Race 5, No Other Choice in Race 6, and Dazzling Fit in Race 8. Those are the horses I want carrying the ticket, because each one lines up with a different angle, speed, class, and that late kick insurance you want when the track starts playing games.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: GOOD, 1000m - 1800m card
Rail: C+3 (Course Soiltiness 21.4%)
Official going: GOOD (expected to play True-pace leaning, with rain making it a bit grabby)
Weather: Storm, 20C, humid as a sauna, watch for late rainwaves (watch for 13:00, 16:00, 19:00)
Early lane guess: Mid-to-ON speed, then sit-sprinter runners as the rain ramps
Jockeys to follow:
Andrea Atzeni: Big-race rider with gate-to-line intent, suits the sharper forward tactics.
Zac Purton: When he's on a speed map, he tends to cash the script.
Matthew Poon: Usually finds positions, and today the position game matters.
Stables to respect:
A S Cruz (9 runners): Consistent enough to trust when the map is right.
C Fownes (9 runners): Quality and aggression, especially when the horse is suited to the tempo.
P C Ng (8 runners): Knows how to place a runner, and can upgrade with a quiet confidence.
Punty's take:
This is a Good track, but the rain risk means you're betting the race shape more than you're betting the "surface" headline. In the shorts, you want the leaders and the stalkers who can keep momentum through any slick patches. In the middle distance races, the tempo is genuine, so don't overthink it, just make sure your horse is in the right zone when the field starts breathing hard.
Race 1 is an "open handicap" where value sits with the mid-priced runners, not the shortest-priced pipe dream. Golden Fortune looks like the type to get first run at the finish if the leaders set it up. Then in Race 2, it's 1200m and the place side matters, Winning Money and New Power are the sort of picks that can run into the money even if the race gets hectic.
Race 3 and Race 4 are where you can get bullied by interference and wide trips, so I'm siding with the ones that have both a run-on story and a sensible route. Race 5 to Race 8 is the money zone, with Race 6 being the clearest "get it done" kind of ledger entry.
What it means for you:
If you're playing straight bets, your best shot is to get aggressive in the races where the map supports the runner and the market isn't fully aligned. That's Race 5 with Superb King, Race 6 with No Other Choice, and Race 8 with Dazzling Fit, those are your multi spine.
If you're playing each way, keep it simple. Don't over-insure everything, especially with the weather haze. Take the place value when the horse is likely to be within striking distance at the right part of the track, and when you're backing roughies, do it where they can swoop if the tempo goes weird. That's your Race 5 roughie and your Race 9 roughie.
And yeah, if the storm hits harder than expected, throw extra attention at horses that have the "momentum" look. Rain doesn't make every backmarker a magic carpet, it just changes who can hold their stride without getting pinned.
