R1
Jockeys Celebration Day Mdn Hcp
1180m · MAIDEN · 13:10
✓ WON +$15 Final

Race type: MAIDEN HCP, 1180m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, so position and on-pace cover is everything on the Heavy 9 kickback
Punty read: This is set up like a poker night where the first card is mucked up, and the winner is the bloke who never loses the plot. Imperial Valley has the map the way you want it for a heavy sprint, and Inzain Baby is the classic "close enough, then keep pushing" type. Boots Malone is a rough one at the price, but if she bounces well and gets room early, she can make a drama out of it.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Imperial Valley (No.4) — $1.98 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$14.70
Prob 44.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why On the map where the slow tempo rewards forward runs, and the market says she's the one to beat.

2. Inzain Baby (No.7) — $3.25 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Aerial Artist (No.5) — $10.20 / $3.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.8% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.86x
Why She can run on if the race drifts her way, but I want the win and place sorted from the top two.

Roughie: Boots Malone (No.1) — $9.05 / $3.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.9% | Place: 25.2% | Value: 0.93x
Why New gear and a slow pace can throw a surprise, but she needs everything to go right.

R2
Criterion Hotel (Bm58)
1800m · BENCHMARK 58 · 13:50
✓ WON +$52 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 1800m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, pace disadvantaged types get stuck, so on-pace stalkers have the advantage
Punty read: This looks like Just Like Liam and First Day on a slow treadmill, with Evokes lurking to pounce when the leaders soften. Heavy days over 1800 are about who can maintain rhythm and not get scrubbed early. The market's being a bit bullish in a few spots, but I still like the spine for the place money.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Just Like Liam (No.3) — $4.50 / $2.10 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$52.50
Prob 25.3% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.39x
Why He's on the right part of the speed picture for a slow tempo, and the heavy ground helps those who can roll forward.

2. First Day (No.2) — $2.53 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.7% | Place: 47.4% | Value: 0.73x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Evokes (No.6) — $4.70 / $2.15 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.7% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.25x
Why She can feature if the pace holds steady and doesn't turn into a full brawl.

Roughie: Silver Agent (No.8) — $10.75 / $3.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.94x
Why Big price and needs a lucky run, but heavy tracks can still gift a late swoop if the leaders stall.

XXXX Gold Country Boosted Mdn Plate
1400m · MAIDEN · 14:25
✓ WON +$2 Final

Race type: MAIDEN PLATE, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, so the leader-stalker advantage matters more than the late prayers
Punty read: If you like clean racing stories, Race 3 is your lane. Siyaasi looks like the one that gets to dictate rhythm, and with a genuine pace on, she gets a proper contest to run in rather than getting strangled in traffic. Broken Image has the right style to be involved, and Muchobor is a keep watching from midfield type if the speed spikes then fades.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.50 pool)

1. Siyaasi (No.4) — $1.54 / $1.01 🏆 WINNER
Bet $9.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$4.86
Prob 55.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why Dominant speed profile and the kind of heavy-friendly action that keeps going when others grind.

2. Broken Image (No.7) — $4.65 / $1.45 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $2.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$2.50
Prob 16.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.04x
Why Great place leverage with pace to hand, and she can sit close enough for the heavy finish.

3. Muchobor (No.3) — $7.20 / $1.72 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 0.69x
Why She's live to run a cheeky race, but I'm not buying a win and place split at this price profile.

Roughie: Justwatchher (No.9) — $10.50 / $2.35 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.9% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.81x
Why She's the late-invader if the leaders tire, but she's not the one I want controlling my bet.

✗ MISS -$14 Final

Race type: MAIDEN HCP, 1180m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, so the "do not get trapped" rule applies big time
Punty read: This is a race where Better Bloom has the look of a horse that can do the job and not overcomplicate it. Media Brief and Brilliant Beagle both have the sort of running style that keeps them in the finish, and on Heavy 9 that means they can get tangled up and still somehow grab a cheque. Western Lights is a real grinder if the track favours rails stalking.

Top 3 + Roughie ($25.00 pool)

1. Better Bloom (No.1) — $2.70 / $1.35 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $19.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$19.00
Prob 26.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.18x
Why Clean tactical edge, and she maps to get into the right rhythm early.

2. Media Brief (No.14) — $5.10 / $1.85 🏆 2ND
Bet $6.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.10
Prob 17.8% | Place: 59.3% | Value: 1.26x
Why The market support is real, and place suits her if the tempo turns into a slog.

3. Brilliant Beagle (No.9) — $4.90 / $1.80 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.3% | Place: 62.7% | Value: 1.29x
Why She's classy enough to be in the mix, but she's a "protect the finish" option more than a stake.

Roughie: On Her Merits (No.4) — $9.05 / $2.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.0% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.70x
Why She can grab a position, but I'd rather back the horses that look like they'll survive the mud better.

✗ MISS -$7 Final

Race type: CLASS 1, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, fast early, then the track decides who gets to breathe late
Punty read: This is a sprint where Heavy 9 turns every run into a slap fight. Winter Hail is the speed, Witch Of November is the price play, and Nefradite is your "don't overthink it, she'll be there" type. With 1000m, you want them close enough early that if the field bunches, you are already on top of the chaos.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.00 pool)

1. Winter Hail (No.2) — $1.79 / $1.08 🏆 2ND
Bet $4.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$4.00
Prob 24.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.56x
Why Leads or stalks in a genuine pace picture, just a shame the price isn't as friendly as the effort.

2. Witch Of November (No.8) — $6.20 / $1.82 🏆 4TH
Bet $3.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$3.00
Prob 20.4% | Place: 59.5% | Value: 1.62x
Why The place value here is sharp, and she gets cover in heavy sprints then finishes.

3. Nefradite (No.4) — $6.75 / $1.95 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 62.2% | Value: 1.66x
Why Great win and place profile, but this ticket is built around the Witch leverage.

Roughie: She's The Key (No.6) — $9.50 / $2.60 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.23x
Why If she lands in a pocket and the leaders back up, she can sneak into the money, but I'm not letting her hijack the plan.

✗ MISS -$4 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 1180m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, so the on-pace trip still matters, but staying power through the dig does too
Punty read: Lang Park is the one I want on paper and in practice. Teresprit is tempting on value signals, but I'm backing the horse with the better overall win story and cleaner run path. Rain Queen is another that can hit the line, and if the race bunches, she can make the trifecta a headache.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)

1. Lang Park (No.1) — $4.50 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $6.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$6.00
Prob 23.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.28x
Why Should get the right stalking run on heavy ground, and her finish profile is built for this sort of tempo.

2. Teresprit (No.8) — $4.50 / $1.85 🏆 2ND
Bet $2.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.12
Prob 16.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.91x
Why Place bet makes sense if the pace doesn't fall apart, and she has the credentials to hold a spot.

3. Rain Queen (No.5) — $8.85 / $2.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.47x
Why She's live and the heavy track suits, but I'm keeping this ticket tight.

Roughie: Sanzeno (No.11) — $11.25 / $3.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.9% | Place: 60.9% | Value: 1.09x
Why Needs the race to break open and for her to run into space, which can happen when Heavy 9 gets tiring.

✗ MISS -$25 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, so Tommy Flyer gets a proper crack and Sundrop can swoop late
Punty read: Tommy Flyer is the map anchor. If the pace stays genuine, he gets every chance to do what he does best, travel and stick it out. National Asset is the main danger, and Sundrop is the one that can pick up the pieces if they grind each other down. Heavy 9 over 1400 rewards horses that don't waste energy early.

Top 3 + Roughie ($25.00 pool)

1. Tommy Flyer (No.1) — $3.65 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $18.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$18.50
Prob 24.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why On speed, drawn to push forward, and should handle the heavy digs better than most.

2. National Asset (No.3) — $5.10 / $2.00 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 19.1% | Place: 67.9% | Value: 1.25x
Why He's the ideal stalking threat on a heavy 1400, and place is where the value sits.

3. Sundrop (No.7) — $7.20 / $2.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 40.9% | Value: 1.27x
Why He can lift late if the leaders tire, but this ticket already has the big levers.

Roughie: East Harlem (No.13) — $11.50 / $3.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why Needs a slower tempo and a bit of luck in running to slot in the finish.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Heavy 9 madness at Gundagai with the rail jammed in your eyeballs, this is the type of day where horses that can handle the digs get rewarded and the rest get dragged through the mud like cheap trailers.

It is all about traction and position today. With it sitting Heavy 9 and the pace described as slow to genuine depending on the race, you want runners that either get cover and keep their momentum, or those rare types that can go early and keep travelling when the track starts stealing petrol. Gundagai on a wet-ish day is basically speed versus stamina with a steering wheel that sometimes falls off.

My Big 3 spine is built around the day's cleanest win stories. Imperial Valley and Siyaasi look like they've got the map and the class fitness, and Better Bloom gives you the "how is this horse still racing at this price" feeling. After that, I'm spreading the risk race by race with smart place leverage and one roughie that's live if the speed collapses like a Netflix series after Season 2.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Heavy 9, 1180m to 1800m card
Rail: True
Official going: Heavy 9 (expected to play Wet-and-positioned, where the on-pace and tack-sharp types get first dibs)
Weather: Possible shower, 9°C, humidity 65%, gusts 29.6km/h, feels like 4.1°C (watch for slippery footing, nerves in early starts)
Early lane guess: Out on the track still matters, but rail followers with cover can cash if they do not get checked
Tempo profile: Slow to moderate, with a couple races turning into proper slog fights once they hit the heavy kickback
Jockeys to follow:
Brendan Ward: He pops up everywhere in these staying trips, and if the pace is slow he often gets the right stalking run.
Cory Parish: When the map is genuine, he usually parks the horse in the right pocket.
Blaike McDougall: He keeps landing in the finish, and on heavy days that means he is not panic-driving.
Stables to respect:
Michael Travers (11 runners): He tends to have them ready to go when the track is testing.
Shilleagh Meyervale (7 runners): Big forges late when others are doing it tough, plus plenty of reliable systems.
Garry Worsnop (3 runners): When he dials in for heavy conditions, his runners often run straighter than their odds suggest.

Punty's take:

This card screams "get on early, but don't get too greedy." Heavy 9 turns races into a long conga line where the wrong spot can cost you a length and a prayer. Look for the horses that are actually on pace in the map, not just "midfield" in name only. In Race 1 and Race 2, the front half should stay sticky, so those with early intent get to play chess, not chase checkers.

Race 3 is the one where I'm comfortable leaning in. Siyaasi has that easy rhythm to her, and with a dominant pace map picture she should get the trip without folding. Race 4 and 5 are where place betting earns its keep. Better Bloom looks like a gift at the front of the stable order, but I still like Media Brief and Brilliant Beagle to run top four because heavy days punish those that miss the step.

Race 6 and 7 are where you can get cute, but don't go full hero. Lang Park is the kind of horse that can soak up heavy ground and keep coming, while Tommy Flyer is drawn and mapped for a "sit, pounce, hit the line" script. Sundrop is the wildcard for the quaddie if the leaders take each other on and the back end wants in.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive in the races that have clean tempo and a clear tactical advantage, and be smarter about place when the field size and track conditions make wins harder to lock in. My plan is simple. Win bets go where I think the horse has the full story, and place bets go where the race is likely to bunch and the finish will decide it.

Your "attack zones" are Race 3 for the win story, Race 4 for place leverage around the top trio, and Race 5 if you want to lean into the wet sprint chaos. Your "protect zones" are the slower, muddier races where boxed-in traffic can turn a decent run into a forgettable one. If you're playing exotics, I'm keeping it in the lanes that cover the tempo and key runners, because heavy days punish overthinking.
