NAI Harcourts Whangarei (Bm75)
1200m · Benchmark 75; · 10:13
✓ WON +$36 Final

Race type: Benchmark 75, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with Alpha One and One More Dance pushing forward
Punty read:
This is a straight-up 1200m scramble where the Soft 5 makes "getting clear" more important than "being brilliant." Nicconi County's already shown he can handle Ruakaka at this distance on softer ground, and when he's been ordinary lately it's been due to traffic and getting stuck wide, the exact stuff you want to see as a reason.
Scolera's the market pin and on-pacer, but if the race turns into a "who holds position through the slog" job, Nicconi County's the one I want. Alpha One and One More Dance are danger if they get an easy section, but this looks like it sets up for the smoother trip.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Nicconi County (No.1) — $3.88 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet $12.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$36.00
Prob 18.4% | Place: 44.4% | Value: 0.94x
Why Held up and wide lately, still shows the right track and soft form traits, plus he maps well from barrier 5.

2. Scolera (No.5) — $2.40 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 46.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.94x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. One More Dance (No.7) — $3.67 / $1.90 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.1% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.08x
Why Right kind of runner, but he's not grabbing enough edge compared to Nicconi County and Scolera today.

Roughie: Alpha One (No.2) — $15.75 / $4.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.3% | Place: 14.0% | Value: 2.78x
Why Needs things to go right in a fast chaos way, but the model thinks he's more "place chance" than winning threat.

1200m · Maiden; · 10:46
✓ WON +$18 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, enough speed to keep things honest
Punty read:
Maiden races on Soft 5 can turn into a lottery, so we're doing the sensible thing, backing the ones with cleaner setups and bigger place profiles. Shalabiya is the market fav, but the better angle today is the ones with the right run path and the sort that can take a spot.
Odds And Ends and Boomstruck are handy in the race for "third-quarter pressure," and if the front end doesn't run away, they're live for your money. The roughie is Scaredoheights, because when mares just drift and then the race falls apart, that backmarker can swoop like a horror movie extra running through the credits.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)

1. Shalabiya (No.13) — $4.40 / $1.90 🏆 WINNER
Bet $17.00 Each Way ($8.50W + $8.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$23.80
Prob 14.1% | Place: 68.7% | Value: 0.75x
Why Soft track and this draw range suit, and he's built to hit the line consistently when the field spreads.

2. Odds And Ends (No.1) — $4.95 / $2.00 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 63.1% | Value: 0.57x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Boomstruck (No.2) — $6.45 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.50
Prob 11.5% | Place: 57.5% | Value: 0.65x
Why Has shown enough early foot to get into it, and the Soft 5 keeps the race from turning into a procession.

Roughie: Scaredoheights (No.8) — $15.75 / $3.80 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.7% | Place: 21.4% | Value: 0.82x
Why Value's there, but it's still a roughie, meaning he wins by timing and chaos, not by being the most reliable.

✗ MISS -$11 Final

Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders go hard early
Punty read:
This one's set up like a UFC bout, someone has to come through the first round still breathing. Iridescent's built for it, she sits in the midfield zone and then keeps giving in soft ground type patterns.
Moneypenny is the other one, she's got the form engine and might get dragged into a hot fight early, which can suit if the jockey keeps her balanced. Spencer has class, but the race shape matters, and it's genuine pace here, so you want runners who can travel, not just "hope."

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.00 pool)

1. Iridescent (No.6) — $3.67 / $1.52 🏆 2ND
Bet $6.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 25.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.24x
Why The best mix of chance and value, plus she's made for staying in the fight over the 1400 when the tempo is real.

2. Moneypenny (No.5) — $3.17 / $1.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $4.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$4.50
Prob 19.4% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.85x
Why Wide-ish excuses in the recent run don't erase the ability, and she's the sort to grab the right spot and keep running.

3. Spencer (No.1) — $5.70 / $1.85 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.9% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.90x
Why Needs everything to line up, he's more "could be there" than "should be there."

Roughie: Zenzero Girl (No.8) — $13.25 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.3% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.98x
Why Backmarker sweep, only wins if the speed collapses properly and she finds room late like a cat getting through a door that's somehow open.

✗ MISS -$9 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, but Soft can stretch it out
Punty read:
This is a maiden where positioning is everything, because 1600m on Soft 5 means you've got to survive the first grind, then attack when others are losing the will. Cheerful Smile has been overmatched at times, but the profile reads like a runner who can turn up and run on, especially if the speed is honest and she doesn't get too far back.
Merriama is the likely "right there" type. Departure is the one with a genuine path into the race, so don't be shocked if she hits the line and takes a piece.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)

1. Cheerful Smile (No.8) — $4.75 / $2.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $7.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.00
Prob 20.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.28x
Why Soft 1600 is the sweet spot, huge place profile, and she gets every chance to run home strong.

2. Merriama (No.9) — $3.75 / $1.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet $9.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.80
Prob 18.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.86x
Why She's showing enough consistency to bank a place, even if she's not the main winning story.

3. Departure (No.3) — $6.45 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $6.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.00
Prob 10.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.85x
Why On-pace style and the race distance gives her time to hit the line, even if it's not a full throttle win.

Roughie: Escape Room (No.1) — $11.75 / $3.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 32.8% | Value: 0.91x
Why Slow start and traffic can swing it, but the model prefers the safer paths today.

✓ WON +$12 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, patience wins races
Punty read:
This one's about timing, if it's slow early then the "good run" is when others begin making room. Alker Traz is the model's top call because the Soft grind plus a patient ride can turn a maiden into a win machine quick.
Centanni is the value second string if the leaders bunch up and he's allowed to sweep. Dido Belle and Stralsund types are the danger category, but the Top 3 are where the money should land.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)

1. Alker Traz (No.1) — $1.96 / $1.14 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$12.00
Prob 30.4% | Place: 58.4% | Value: 1.06x
Why Small price but huge win profile, and the Soft 5 tempo suits a controlled run.

2. Centanni (No.3) — $7.45 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 24.7% | Value: 1.11x
Why A real chance — but at $2.40 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.

3. The Pen Is Mighty (No.5) — $6.55 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.1% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.34x
Why Needs a dream run, and today the model wants coverage elsewhere.

Roughie: Dido Belle (No.10) — $9.65 / $2.65 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.22x

✗ MISS -$11 Final

Race type: 3yo open, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, sprint chaos early
Punty read:
1100m on Soft 5 with genuine pressure is where the best professional speed gets exposed. Walkin In Memphis is leading the charge and the model likes him because he's got the early speed to hold a position and keep working through the pain.
Fraudster is value for a place, she can sit handy and then take a crack when the pack starts to stretch. She's No Saint is the other key, but if the race is as hot as the map suggests, the top two become the ones fighting over straight outs.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.50 pool)

1. Walkin In Memphis (No.1) — $2.88 / $1.45 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $6.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 21.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.90x
Why Hot tempo, he's on the speed and he should be tough to get past late.

2. She's No Saint (No.7) — $4.05 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet $7.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.25
Prob 19.1% | Place: 63.5% | Value: 1.06x
Why Big place profile, can sit closer than the backmarkers and grab a slice if the leaders tire.

3. Fraudster (No.2) — $7.55 / $2.65 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 12.8% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.38x
Why This is a value place angle, and the Soft 5 sprint means the run is never clean early.

Roughie: Tip Top (No.12) — $12.50 / $3.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.5% | Place: 32.8% | Value: 1.33x

✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: Benchmark 75, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, tactical middle stages
Punty read:
Benchmark 75 over 1600m is where "travels through the middle" wins. Super Rosa at barrier 1 is the sort that gives the jockey options, and if she can control the position without getting too far back, she's in it.
Transaction is right in the pocket too, but the model wants the top end runners that can handle soft ground and keep showing up. Texas is the roughie because she has that "right place, right time" ceiling.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)

1. Super Rosa (No.7) — $3.67 / $1.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $8.50 Each Way ($4.25W + $4.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$8.50
Prob 14.8% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 0.99x
Why Loves soft conditions, has the map to keep momentum, and should be there when the field starts thinning.

2. Bourbon Proof (No.2) — $2.56 / $1.57 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.2% | Place: 41.6% | Value: 0.93x

3. Transaction (No.5) — $3.35 / $1.52 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.4% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.96x
Why Place chance exists, but it's a notch under the threshold for a bet today.

Roughie: Texas (No.4) — $9.30 / $2.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 19.1% | Value: 1.05x
Why If she finds clear late, she can run it in, but she's more the upset engine than the reliable main line.

Race type: Benchmark 65, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so positions matter early
Punty read:
1300m on a Soft 5 with real tempo means the race is decided by who holds position without overworking. Ashoka is your top pick because he's in the right style lane and gets a clean run path more often than not.
Arabella is the value side eye, Chicago Jack is the place play type, and Watermelon Sugar is the roughie who can absolutely run into it if the middle section goes soft.

Top 3 + Roughie ($16.00 pool)

1. Ashoka (No.1) — $3.65 / $1.65 🏆 2ND

Prob 17.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.96x

Race type: Benchmark 65, 2100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, long race where patience pays
Punty read:
At 2100m, you don't win by being keen, you win by being efficient. Sweet But Psycho is the model's main call because she's got that "hold up then grind" profile that suits Soft 5 when the field strings out.
Sharapova's the value runner, and Jamaican Boy is the danger for a place if the race pace keeps a steady tempo. Paper Romance is the leader, but with genuine pace up front, leaders can get cooked on stamina if the middle section is heavy.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

1. Sweet But Psycho (No.2) — $2.93 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 25.4% | Place: 64.6% | Value: 0.98x

Bet Tracked
Prob 11.2% | Place: 35.8% | Value: 1.12x

Prob 7.2% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.27x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Ruakaka's on Soft 5 and the rail's out 6m, so expect the track to be a bit like a wet Slip 'N Slide. You can fly, you just gotta land it straight. We're hunting pace in the right races, then we're grabbing value where the market's doing that classic "everyone sees it, nobody wants it" thing.
This day's built on a Big 3 spine that screams "get on, don't overthink it," plus a Multi that'll either make your night or turn you into a motivational speaker for your mates.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Ruakaka, Short to Mid (1200m-2100m) card
Rail: Out 6m
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Run-on, save ground late, don't get trapped wide)
Weather: Fine (watch for fatigue late, no excuses for absolute stinkers)

Early lane guess: Speed holds early, but Soft 5 means wide trips get punished
Tempo profile: Moderate to genuine pace early, then it turns into a proper slog where the right runners keep finding
Jockeys to follow:
Masahiro Hashizume: he's on the sharp end a few times today, and Soft tracks suit his timing
Craig Grylls: shows up around the money when they're actually going to place properly
Lynsey Satherley: gets them into the race and keeps them there, especially when the map works
Stables to respect:
K I Rae (multiple runners): consistent showings when the race setup matches their style
Petrab / Pertab-linked team (seen in Race 2 and 6): they bring the horses ready for action, especially first-up types
Peter & Shaun Mckay (seen across the card): they love their programs, and they strike when it suits the track

Punty's take:

Ruakaka on Soft 5 is basically the "you can't hide" setting. If you're posted wide too early, you're paying interest right to the finish. So in the faster races (sprints/miles), I'm backing riders who can hold a position and not turn the trip into a world tour.

The other thing, and this is where degenerates get paid, is that the market is a bit schizophrenic today. Some favourites are getting backed into oblivion, others are drifting like they've missed the memo. That's why we've got a clean Big 3, then we add one roughie where the price is doing something silly.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive in the races where the map lines up and the Soft 5 isn't going to murder the run style. In the value lanes, you're not chasing a miracle. You're chasing a runner who gets every opportunity, then you let the tote do the talking.

If you're playing straight bets, keep it tight to the Top 3. If you're spreading for fun, do it in the sequences, not in your heart. The heart is reserved for the Big 3, and the roughie is where you pretend you're invincible.
