Townsville on Soft 5 is the great equaliser. The backmarkers can still win, but they need a map that basically turns into a GPS, not a blind stumble through a foggy car park. The rails are True, so you want to be wary of cover plays that end up trapped, then forced wider when the race tightens. On-pace horses with clean runs are where the money quietly starts working.
There's also a repeating theme in this card, gear changes and "get forward" tactics. When you see first-time tongues, tongue ties, blinkers off, pads (front) first time, that's the stable saying "come on mate, give us a different result." Some of them are getting hammered by the market, some of them are getting missed, and that's where we pull the strap tight.

Be aggressive in the races where the tempo suits the leaders and the draws aren't cooked. In the messier races, don't throw the towel in on the market, but do protect yourself with place or each way when the winner might be hard to pick.
My plan is simple, three winners across the day as the spine, then treat each race like a movie plot, you've got the lead character (Top 1), the supporting cast that can steal scenes (Top 2 and Top 3), and then the wild card that turns up late with a different ending (Roughie). If you do it like that, you're not gambling, you're just being a nuisance with purpose.
