1200m · MAIDEN · 15:52
✓ WON +$16 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leaders set up Sovereign Rock as the early reference point
Punty read: This is a race where you want to be either on the speed or close enough to pounce, because 1200m at Bunbury is a "miss the kick, eat the wind" job. Royal Reflection is sitting in that sweet spot, market is sharp and the style suits a rail race where you can't afford to be too far back. Sovereign Rock will try to run them honest, but the danger is always the one that relaxes and then grabs the bit turning for home. My Malena and Aura Magna are the ones who can come with a late swoop if the race stays genuine, but the main call is Royal Reflection being too hard to keep out.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Royal Reflection (No.10) — $2.00 / $1.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet $20.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$20.00
Prob 42.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.95x
Why Close enough to the leaders, should get the right run without getting jammed in traffic.

Bet Tracked
Prob 10.9% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.64x
Why Looks like a solid place chance if the speed collapses, but I'm not paying to watch it.

Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.53x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1675m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, lanes matter and the stalkers get home
Punty read: 1675m on a Good 4 with a slow tempo is where the wrong horse can get bottled up early, then struggle to find room late. Boutique Belle is the one they expect to make her own luck, Pike gets to settle and then choose the moment. Back In The Fold is the classic "if they go too slow" runner, she'll be there when the others start grinding. Momotaro is a roughie look if the race turns into a sprint for home, because you want a horse that can keep covering ground without wasting energy early.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Boutique Belle (No.5) — $1.55 / $1.07 🏆 2ND
Bet $17.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$17.50
Prob 49.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.21x
Why Slow tempo suits her style, she's in the right lane to pounce late and the market has her marked.

2. Back In The Fold (No.10) — $5.00 / $1.65 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$4.22
Prob 16.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.24x
Why Gets every chance with a slow speed scenario, should run into the top end of the placings.

3. She's Da Val (No.13) — $11.00 / $2.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.5% | Place: 29.5% | Value: 0.87x
Why Needs everything to go right from the draw and the tempo, place-only is where the risk sits.

Roughie: Momotaro (No.8) — $16.50 / $3.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.8% | Place: 19.2% | Value: 1.04x

1675m · HANDICAP · 17:04
✗ MISS -$19 Final

Race type: HANDICAP, 1675m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, so the pocket and the finish matter
Punty read: Handicap races on slow tempos are about who can travel well and then pull something out late without needing a perfect sprinting lane. Heavenly Rapture looks the one who can do that, she's got the finish, and the market is keen for a reason. Ah Kum is the other name, he's built for being switched on late and can get over the top if the speed isn't absolute. Barney Rommel is the "don't write him off" story, because even when it looks like he's at the back, these types can grab the line if they're not held up.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)

1. Heavenly Rapture (No.6) — $3.90 / $1.62 🏆 4TH
Bet $14.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$14.00
Prob 22.4% | Place: 60.8% | Value: 1.11x
Why She's got that stay-into-it look, and slow pace means she can sprint from the right position.

2. Ah Kum (No.7) — $5.00 / $1.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 18.0% | Place: 59.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why On-pace enough to be involved, and should land in the money if the race doesn't blow out early.

3. Barney Rommel (No.1) — $5.00 / $1.72 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.5% | Place: 62.1% | Value: 1.12x
Why Best used as coverage if traffic opens, but I'd rather take the right part of the picture.

Roughie: Secretchino (No.4) — $10.00 / $2.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 23.8% | Value: 0.87x

✓ WON +$22 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, short sprint, speed plus positioning
Punty read: 1100m maidens are always carnage. You've got a pace map where a few can hold position, and then the finish comes fast. Pistone is the class of the field at the prices and the blinkers first time can sharpen him up quickly. Vino Miss is the value angle for me, Champagne Talks is the other who might hang around on the inside run if the rail does what we think it might. Che Figata is the chaos door, because blinkers and a different equipment look can turn a "hope" into a "whoa".

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Pistone (No.13) — $2.50 / $1.35 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$22.50
Prob 23.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.81x
Why Blinkers first time in a sprint, and he can hit the line if he's switched on early.

2. Vino Miss (No.10) — $6.20 / $2.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.42x
Why A real chance — but at $2.50 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.

3. Champagne Talks (No.9) — $5.70 / $2.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 59.4% | Value: 0.82x
Why Not enough value on place from where he sits, but he can still pinch a spot if things go right.

Roughie: Che Figata (No.2) — $11.50 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.45x
Why Blinkers first time could unlock him, needs the pace to stay honest and the gaps to appear.

✗ MISS -$20 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, the stalk and the late kick are king
Punty read: This looks like a race where the honest runners get swallowed, and the ones who can manage their energy get home best. Ocean Reef is the market lead and I'm siding with the odds line, because he's the type that can take a trip and strike late. Zali's Gift and Playing Solo both have that "if the tempo isn't too sharp" vibe, Sweet Issy is the roughie who's built for a place cheque if the leaders start to thin out.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.00 pool)

1. Ocean Reef (No.2) — $3.00 / $1.50 🏆 3RD
Bet $16.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$16.50
Prob 23.1% | Place: 66.4% | Value: 1.27x
Why Stays in range, and with moderate pace she can get the kick without being swamped.

2. Zali's Gift (No.5) — $3.60 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $3.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$3.50
Prob 21.1% | Place: 57.9% | Value: 0.85x
Why Right sort of on-pace profile, place is the safe-ish way to include her.

3. Playing Solo (No.15) — $3.90 / $1.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why Place probability doesn't back up the price from where he's at.

Roughie: Sweet Issy (No.9) — $10.00 / $2.90 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.0% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.34x

✗ MISS -$9 Final

Race type: HANDICAP, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, leaders pressure, midfield wins if the gaps show
Punty read: This is a "who's travelling best at the 400m" race. Modern Girl is the one I want, because everything about her profile suggests she can keep momentum, then go again. Lash Out looks like the right kind of danger, and Hyperreal is your value place play if the favourite is forced to do a touch too much early.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)

1. Modern Girl (No.3) — $2.64 / $1.40 🏆 4TH
Bet $14.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$14.00
Prob 32.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.10x
Why Tempo suits, she's got the class to turn up and the ride should be a straight line to the finish.

2. Lash Out (No.1) — $5.50 / $2.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.25
Prob 16.1% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.13x
Why Can sit in the right pocket and lift, especially if the leaders soften.

3. Bundaberg (No.4) — $5.00 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.64x
Why Win is shaky at this stage, place prob is there, but not enough to justify.

Roughie: Hyperreal (No.2) — $11.00 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.7% | Place: 35.8% | Value: 1.36x
Why The only way this lands is if the favourite gets pressure and Hyperreal finds the gaps.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: HANDICAP, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, open finish, pick your movers
Punty read: This is wide-open, you can feel it. Ain'tsobad and Summer's Legacy are both in the mix, but Too Much Talk is the one that screams value if the tempo is even and the jockey times the run. My Jimmy is a sneaky type for the trifecta chaos, can run on without needing the lead. Buderim is the other place danger who can slot into the right spot early and then grind.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)

1. Summer's Legacy (No.2) — $5.50 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.00 Each Way ($5.00W + $5.00P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 14.0% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.01x
Why Has the profile for a solid run and the each-way structure catches the chaos if she hangs in.

2. Ain'tsobad (No.5) — $5.50 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 0.90x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. My Jimmy (No.13) — $7.40 / $2.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.0% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.06x

Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.89x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Degenerates, Bunbury is sitting on a Good 4, rail True, no drama rainwise, so it's the sort of day where pace matters, lanes matter, and the wrong kick early can end your night like a late tackle in footy. The track should reward the ones who can sit close, then put in at the 100 metre mark, and there's a heap of races today that look like "first four, then chaos".

Big picture, I'm backing the spine in the shorts, because this card has that "short price lead, then the mid prices pounce" vibe. Race 1 is about sorting who belongs, Race 2's got a classy maiden shaping, then Race 3 and 6 are where the tempo tells the story. Quaddies from here, mate, are gonna be sweaty, because Races 4, 5, 7 are open and they love humbling tidy little tickets.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Bunbury, 1200-1675m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed vs Stamina, with rail holding a touch)
Weather: Mostly sunny, 21°C, gusty for feel (watch for a few "pushy" rides getting a bit greedy)
Early lane guess: Out a bit in the open races, protect the leaders in the short shots
Tempo profile: Mix of genuine early speed, then slow to middle in the longer races where stalking wins races
Jockeys to follow:
William Pike: generally rides them into the race early, good for these pace-shaped days.
Ryan Hill: tracks a speed map, can sneak the trip and get first look.
Ms Tash Faithfull: has that "hold the rail, then grind" style that suits Bunbury when everyone's a bit busy.
Stables to respect:
Michael Grantham (2 runners): tends to have them ready and understands how to place horses in the right spot.
D T McAuliffe (2 runners): shows up in the right races, especially when the tempo helps.
B P Fitzgerald (1 runner): when he's got one with a gear change, it's usually for a reason.

Punty's take:

Alright, Bunbury on a Good 4 with the rail True means the inside is a real thing, but it's not a magical spell. If you can be within striking distance early, you get every chance. If you're stuck three deep with nowhere to go, you can kiss the finish goodbye. That's why I'm circling the races where the pace is either genuine or where the tempo looks like it sets up a stalking run.

Today, the short-priced winners aren't just "short priced" either. You can see the pattern, Race 2 has the stable and the market ticking the same box, Race 6 is clearly built around the leader or the stalking type, and Race 3 is a handicap where the best horse on the day just has to land in the right pocket. Then you've got chaos baked in, especially Race 4 and Race 7, where the form might be quiet but the gears and rides can spark an upset.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive on the horses that map into the race. I'm not trying to outsmart the circuit here, I'm trying to line up the ones that are getting the right run. Race 1 and Race 6 are where I'm happy to back a clear top pick, because the tempo should suit them and the race shape is predictable enough to be brave.

For your bigger bets, you play the lanes like you're choosing your seat at the footy. Quaddie legs that look "trio-ish" are where you hold tight, and the open races are where you spread, accept the risk, and stop pretending you can predict the last corner in a field of 14. If you're building, the quaddie spine makes sense, because three of the four legs are less about luck and more about positioning.
