✓ WON +$22 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Skua and Miss Waititi profile to be there when the tempo finally loosens.
Punty read: This race is all about who finds rhythm on a Soft 6 without getting bogged early. Skua (No.9) has the on pace look and a tongue tie for sharpness, so if they stroll early, he can just keep rolling. Miss Waititi (No.11) is a classic backmarker who can still run on, and her last run excuses suggest she's just one clean start away from turning into the one you wish you backed. Diesel Desmond (No.2) is the "slow start, then do the job" type, and even with the slow tempo, he can still slice through late if he gets clear at the right moment.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Skua (No.9) — $2.80 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $12.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$21.60
Prob 28.0% | Place: 57.5% | Value: 0.91x
Why He's the on pace machine, and tongue tie for better focus on Soft 6 usually helps in these middle distance maidens.

2. Miss Waititi (No.11) — $4.00 / $1.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.4% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.94x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Diesel Desmond (No.2) — $4.00 / $1.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.5% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.95x

✓ WON +$21 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1429m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Zoehrer gets the perfect "sit and pounce" setup.
Punty read: This is a Slow Pace maiden where whoever can hold position and not get stuck off the wheels wins. Zoehrer (No.10) is the obvious map fit, and the market is already circling her like it smells blood. Hedjet (No.1) is the main alternative, but he's the type that needs the race to stay manageable, then he grabs a slice right at the line. Zverev (No.2) looks like a value place chance, but I'm not in a rush to hand him the win ticket given the profile. Attorney General (No.5) is the rougher, because the gear changes could spark something, but it's still a maiden, anything can happen.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Zoehrer (No.10) — $2.15 / $1.09 🏆 WINNER
Bet $17.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$19.55
Prob 41.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.13x
Why She's built for a Soft 6 grind, and the whole race shape suits a mid-run pick-up without needing the miracle.

2. Hedjet (No.1) — $3.80 / $1.35 🏆 2ND
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$1.75
Prob 20.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.06x
Why Tongue tie first time, and place leverage is the play when the tempo is slow, he should be there late.

3. Zverev (No.2) — $6.40 / $1.72 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 57.4% | Value: 0.91x

Roughie: Attorney General (No.5) — $9.00 / $2.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 40.2% | Value: 1.10x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Platinum Pearl is on pace and Anglais can sneak into the action.
Punty read: This is a 1300m maiden on Soft 6, so the real game is who can stay balanced as the ground gets heavy and still sprint at the finish. Platinum Pearl (No.7) has the on pace profile and the sort of map where she can keep a steady stride, then kick when everyone else starts lugging. Anglais (No.1) is the value runner profile, backmarker but can hit the line, so the question is whether there's enough pace for her to do it. Nikitria (No.6) is the one with the strongest "value if they get a run" feel, but she's not the one I'm staking win confidence on.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Platinum Pearl (No.7) — $2.20 / $1.12 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 36.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.19x
Why On pace, Soft 6 friendly style, and when a horse is already in the right part of the race, they usually finish the job.

2. Anglais (No.1) — $3.20 / $1.30 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 27.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.14x
Why A real chance — but at $1.30 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.

Prob 8.1% | Place: 32.9% | Value: 1.12x

✓ WON +$27 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Fiery Fun and Enea should get first crack at the finish.
Punty read: 1200m maidens on Soft 6 are brutal, because you lose momentum quickly and spacing becomes everything. Fiery Fun (No.11) is the top pick for a reason, she's the one with the pace pressure needed when the run home gets sticky. Enea (No.6) is the other big threat, and she's been giving honest efforts, plus blinkers first time can sharpen up a horse that already has the right rhythm. Pinazaki (No.10) has genuine upside on value because she can pick off tired runners late, and Gold Chalice (No.7) is the danger if the race falls into a slow sprint and he can grab position.

Top 3 + Roughie ($17.50 pool)

Bet $17.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$27.30

Bet Tracked
Prob 30.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.83x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Bm62, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Zourain presses and Lyrics 'n' Song has place leverage.
Punty read: This is a benchmark 62 where pace matters, but on a Soft 6, the leaders can still get tired if they're doing all the work too early. Zourain (No.2) has the on pace advantage and looks like the one to keep pressing without being asked to sprint from the gates. Plunger (No.1) is the other main threat, a live one with speed. Lyrics 'n' Song (No.8) is the one I want for place, because her run style can be very forgiving in these conditions when the field strings out. Smart Little Miss (No.9) is a longer shot route, but not today's main plan.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00

✓ WON +$18 Final

Race type: Bm70, 2046m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Covert Thinking sits close enough to strike in the stretch.
Punty read: Over 2046m on Soft 6, the race is won by whoever manages energy, not whoever looked pretty on the first few strides. This one has genuine pace, so Covert Thinking (No.7) being in the midfield and able to keep momentum is the key. Jenny The Beaver (No.5) is the stablemate-style threat, with a place profile that actually makes sense, and Mickio (No.8) is the value-looking runner if the race turns into a battle for the line. Calypso King (No.2) is the wildcard, because the market keeps wondering if it's his time, but I'm not letting him be the anchor.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

1. Covert Thinking (No.7) — $5.00 / $1.80 🏆 WINNER
Bet $7.50 Each Way ($3.75W + $3.75P) — ✓ Won, net +$18.00
Prob 19.2% | Place: 50.1% | Value: 1.18x
Why Midfield with cover under a genuine pace helps on Soft 6, and he should still be reaching late.

2. Jenny The Beaver (No.5) — $6.50 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED

Prob 13.7% | Place: 40.5% | Value: 1.26x

✓ WON +$8 Final

Race type: Bm62, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, the speed profile points straight at Yauson.
Punty read: This is one of those races where you can smell the pace decision from orbit. Yauson (No.5) is the leader on the speed map, and on a Soft 6 1600m, it's a huge advantage to be in the front group without using your horse up early. Angland Lass (No.8) is the classic "you blink and she's there" threat, and Pariah Pearl (No.3) can run a very honest race if the pace is strong enough to hold the pack up. Cindy Falls (No.6) is the longish shot roughie, but she's in the mix if the favourites soften.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)

Race type: Bm62, 1429m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, place leverage is the whole game with Kandinsky.
Punty read: This is the classic "who runs on after the leaders are done" race. Just Desserts (No.6) looks like the natural leader and the Soft 6 can suit that forward style, but Kandinsky (No.9) is the value place play because she should be right there when the field starts chopping up late. Master Of The Air (No.1) is the other one with a live trip, while Impending Shadow (No.5) and Ollandia Beach (No.3) are more for the watch and learn crowd unless the race turns into a chaos sprint.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Seymour on a Soft 6, rail out 8m, where every run feels like you're driving on wet roadworks. The pace is slow in most races, so if you're stuck three wide with no run, you're gonna end up in the group chat explaining yourself.

Today's built for a specific sort of punter, the one who likes a plan, but still enjoys the occasional chaos wink. My spine is the Big 3, Zoehrer in Race 2, Platinum Pearl in Race 3, and Yauson in Race 7. That trio gives you the "speed settles and class shows" vibe, then the rest of the card is where we hunt value and keep the trifecta dreams alive.

Now get this into your brain, Soft 6 at Seymour rewards horses who can actually handle kickback and still travel late. So the map is king early, then the finish kicks in hard around these middle distances. If you're waiting for the favourite to just stroll it, you'll be the sad bloke on the lawns while everyone else is watching the line.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Seymour, 1200-2046m card
Rail: Out 8m Entire Circuit
Official going: Soft 6 (expected to play Power and Pressure)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 13°C, humidity 63%, wind 22km/h SSW (watch for Gusty Feel, cold snap)
Early lane guess: Get involved near the speed early, then keep it honest off the straight.
Tempo profile: Slow to moderate most races, with a premium on horses that can keep moving after the bend.
Jockeys to follow:
Craig Williams: When he's steering a live one on this sort of footing, he usually gets the job done.
John Allen: Likely to be involved early, and if the race slows, he does not panic.
Craig Newitt: Good at letting a horse cruise into rhythm, then turning the key late.
Stables to respect:
C J Waller (5 runners): Keeps debut and maiden runners sharp, and doesn't throw them to the wolves blind.
C Maher (3 runners): If they're showing pace in the map, it usually turns into something real by the finish.
Ben, Will & Jd Hayes (3 runners): They target winnable spots, and on soft tracks they can light up the back end.

Punty's take:

Seymour today is a "position plus momentum" meeting. The rail is helping the outward types, but the real story is the slow tempo in heaps of these events. When the speed is gentle, the inside doesn't necessarily save you, it just means you need a horse that can keep powering through the mud-grip. That is why you'll see me prioritise map-fit runners like Zoehrer, Platinum Pearl, and then Yauson in Race 7, they all look like they get the right kind of trip.

Race 1 is a classic maiden lottery vibe, but Skua and Miss Waititi are the safest story horses in the lineup. In Race 2, Zoehrer looks like she's put under the microscope, and Hedjet is the danger if the race becomes a slow walk and Zoehrer has to wait. Race 3 is where Platinum Pearl gets to do what she does, sit handy and pounce when the field starts breathing heavier. Race 4 keeps the spotlight on Fiery Fun and Enea, the sort of maidens that might not win by a mile, but can definitely hit the right part of the track at the right time.

From there, Race 5 and beyond are where I like to mix confidence with value. Zourain is the win threat, but Lyrics 'n' Song is the place leverage play I actually want in your pocket. Race 6 is chaos enough to justify an each way swing on Covert Thinking. Race 7 is basically a two to two and a half horse script with Yauson on top. Then Race 8 is place leverage heaven with Kandinsky, if the leaders do what leaders do and the race keeps turning into a sprint for the line.
