✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, and it's likely a sprint where the early group sets the rules.

Crescent King vs Keen To Exceed vs Vatican is the whole chessboard. Keen To Exceed is my favourite to get the run right, new gear first time (cross-over nose band) and the map says she's not chasing from outer darkness. Crescent King is the "bullish" price underneath, bumped last start at Warwick Farm 1100m, and with short stuff on her side, a clear run means she's a huge threat. Vatican is the sneaky one, backmarker style can work if the front end gets a touch too eager, and the gate has him in the mix to be positioned properly.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Keen To Exceed (No.4) — $3.55 / $1.62 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 29.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.79x
Why Gets the midfield run and has the gear upgrade to sharpen the response when they go bang.

2. Crescent King (No.1) — $4.20 / $1.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.44x
Why A real chance — but at $1.70 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

Bet Tracked
Prob 18.6% | Place: 62.0% | Value: 1.47x
Why Backmarker that can swoop if the speed collapses even slightly, and the market says the race is set up for it.

Bet Tracked
Prob 5.7% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.79x
Why If she finds clear air late and the pace holds up, she can upgrade from "roughie" to "what just happened?" real quick.

✓ WON +$6 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1250m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with the whole thing set up for the class-and-position types.

This one's a front-door smoke alarm job. Saffron Veil is the horse the race bends around, midfield earlier is fine if she can settle, and she's got the market pulling her into the driver's seat. Dr Know is the danger with the rail draw, if he goes forward early he's got every chance to be right on the speed and not overreach. Caloocan Beauty is the fit-and-fresh type, with gear changes that can perk her up quickly, so don't ignore her if she jumps and goes.

Top 3 + Roughie ($16.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Saffron Veil (No.6) — $1.95 / $1.15 🏆 WINNER
Bet $11.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$10.93
Prob 53.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.37x
Why Market leader for a reason, settles into a rhythm and hits the line like she owns the last 100m.

2. Dr Know (No.4) — $6.50 / $2.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 21.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.14x
Why Barrier 1 helps him control where the race goes, and if he's not shuffled at the start, he can pinch it.

3. Caloocan Beauty (No.12) — $5.60 / $1.95 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.78x

Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.75x

✓ WON +$29 Final

Race type: Benchmark 72, 1900m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, classic distance, this one's about who handles it the best.

Doradus is the main character. The speed map and his sectionals profile scream he's going to be there in the run, and for a 1900m benchmark with leaders already rolling, I want the horse that doesn't need luck to run. Standard Deviation is the other big play, because even though he's not the obvious leader, he's been racing well enough to be right around the finish when the race stretches. Supreme Sovereign is the place-and-pinch option, that's the sort of horse that can sit a touch off and then get first crack late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Doradus (No.1) — $3.75 / $1.60 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$28.88
Prob 42.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.21x
Why Clean leader profile, time runs look sharp, and at 1900m on this type of track, controlling the tempo wins more often than people think.

✗ MISS -$7 Final

Race type: Benchmark 72, 1250m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, and 1250m means you get one shot to make ground, so position is everything.

This is a "who's in the right pocket" race. West Of Dalby maps close enough to be dangerous without needing to sprint from the back, and the market price is still offering him a decent crack. Unstopabull is the other one, he's the classic 1250m profile, can stalk the work and then keep rolling when others go tired. Snack Bar has blinkers and gear changes, and if the track bias and wind affect the middle, her run could become a gift.

Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)

1. West Of Dalby (No.14) — $3.55 / $1.52 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 25.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why Maps like he can hold his position through the lane, and you don't back horses off a wide, messy story when you can back clean running profiles.

2. Unstopabull (No.3) — $6.20 / $2.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$6.25
Prob 24.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.09x
Why Held up and slow-start excuses are real, but with him back to a more normal run, he's lethal in this class.

3. Snack Bar (No.2) — $5.05 / $1.75 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.98x
Why Blinkers off again, this time also with more gear, and she's the type to run on if she gets breathing space.

Roughie: Spaceballs (No.12) — $12.25 / $2.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.9% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.99x

✗ MISS -$4 Final

Race type: Benchmark 72, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace, speed is alive, so you've got to be on or be ready to swoop fast.

Fierce is the business. The early speed and the way she's been holding her form means she can control the snap of the race. Whatalegacy is the other danger, she's the kind of runner who can look like a threat every time she's near the front. Albany Road gives you the value side, and when she's not slow out, she's capable of turning the straight into a lane.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Fierce (No.2) — $2.67 / $1.30 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — Cashed, net -$3.67
Prob 33.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.10x
Why Proper sprint confidence, sits in the play early and knows how to hit the line under pressure.

2. Whatalegacy (No.8) — $3.15 / $1.52 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 32.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.74x

3. Albany Road (No.4) — $10.40 / $2.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.7% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.42x
Why Big upside if she finds early position, and her odds say the market isn't fully respecting the run-on potential.

Roughie: Tremonti (No.1) — $22.50 / $3.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.8% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.24x

✗ MISS -$7 Final

Race type: Benchmark 72, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, short and sharp, so the winner is usually the one who gets the smoothest run.

Taxation is the headliner, and the whole race setup screams "sit closer, then strike." Blitzgal and Found The Gold are your price-driven dangers, both capable of getting into the finish if they avoid getting stuck behind a wind-slap wall. Hellabella is the roughie place play, because if the front end starts to get a bit too brave, she can pick up the scraps late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Taxation (No.5) — $1.81 / $1.17 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.00
Prob 43.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why Strong pace-fit, gets the right run style for a wind-assisted Canterbury sprint, and she should be hitting the line at full tilt.

2. Blitzgal (No.9) — $9.25 / $2.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.54x

3. Found The Gold (No.11) — $14.00 / $4.00 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.1% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.31x
Why If the speed burns off, he's got the profile to grind into the placings and keep climbing.

Roughie: Hellabella (No.12) — $9.30 / $2.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.15x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Benchmark 72, 1550m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, so tactics and position matter, this isn't a pure sprint.

Cobra Club is the pick and the reason is simple, she's built for that mid-race rhythm and she's the one that can keep finding in the last straight. Pappa Blue is the other key, she's got the tactical flexibility to be in the right pocket, while Fierceness is the "if it sets up" type, she'll be flying late if the tempo is honest. Savvy Spy can pinch a place if the race gets messy, but win from her position is a job interview with the wind.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Cobra Club (No.5) — $3.35 / $1.57 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 27.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.20x
Why Better run style for a 1550m where you need to sustain, and she's the one that should be close enough when they turn.

2. Pappa Blue (No.8) — $5.50 / $1.95 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.9% | Place: 53.7% | Value: 1.03x
Why A real chance — but at $1.95 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

Bet Tracked
Prob 14.4% | Place: 48.8% | Value: 0.88x
Why Backmarker with late burst potential, danger if leaders start walking their dogs too soon.

Roughie: Overshadow (No.12) — $7.95 / $2.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.5% | Place: 26.8% | Value: 0.91x
Why Needs the race to break her way, but at 1550m, one wrong step by a leader and suddenly she's storming into the minor money.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Legends, Canterbury on a Good 4 with the wind doing its best impression of a microwave door, it should be a proper speed versus payback meeting, where the first run across the line gets rewarded and the backmarkers get involved through pure spite.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Canterbury, 7 races, 1100m-1900m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed Holds, then Stamina picks up the scraps)
Weather: Windy. Partly cloudy, 16°C, gusts ripping SSW. (watch for runners that can balance in the gusts, especially early)
Early lane guess: Tight lanes early, then it opens up in the later mid-range legs
Tempo profile: Mostly genuine early, with a couple of races where it turns into a position race rather than a pure sprint
Jockeys to follow:
Tommy Berry: Big-race closer energy, and he turns up when the pace map sets him up.
James Mc Donald: When he's on the right horse, he's happy to steer the whole race.
Chad Schofield: One of those "let me get into the right spot" hoops, especially around sprints.
Stables to respect:
C J Waller (24 runners): Consistent builders, and when they go short in the market, they usually mean it.
Matthew Smith (10 runners): Strong at getting horses to travel into the run and then knuckle down.
G Waterhouse & A Bott (8 runners): If there's an advantage in the way the horse maps, they cash it in.

Punty's take:

Canterbury on a Good 4 with wind is basically forcing jockeys to drive, not just coast. If you're getting it easy and balanced early, you're in business. If you're wide, awkward, or doing extra work just to see where the leader went, the finish can slap you like a wet flannel.

The meeting story is simple, Rac 2 and Race 6 look like "market's right, pace does the job" types, while Race 4 is a straight-up trifecta of chaos, you need position plus class plus luck. Keep your tickets sane in the later legs, because these quaddies and big multi combos punish any lazy thinking, and fuck me, do they punish it.

What it means for you:

Your aggression goes where the pace advantage and market support line up, so I'm backing the "should go forward" horses harder in Race 2, 3, and 6. Then I'm protecting with value profiles in Race 1 and Race 4, because maiden and Bm races always have that one horse that punches above the odds once they get clear.

If you're playing wide, play it for a reason, not just because you felt like it. The quaddie lane is tight in the first half, then it opens up a bit as we hit Race 7, that's where backmarkers can suddenly get brave if leaders overcook it.
