✗ MISS -$7 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1350m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Zephyr Song to set it up early, wind makes it tougher for late closers
Punty read: Oregon Coast is the standout "gets there" pick in a maiden where they'll still be running hard down the straight. He's priced like a roughie almost every time, but today the finish profile looks right, with sectional signals and the map not asking him to do cartwheels. Zephyr Song should lead and keep it honest, which is exactly how you want it for a horse that can tag and strike late without needing a miracle.
Bacetti is the danger in a different way, he's the type to clunk into the placings and then, if a few stumble, he's right there for a mid-range price. Geisha Gal has that gear upgrade angle with blinkers going on, if she jumps quick and avoids trouble, she can run into it, but I'm keeping her as the "if pace stutters" story.

Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Oregon Coast (No.7) — $1.75 / $1.05 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 57.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.25x
Why On-speed bias suits, and he's built to hit the line in a way closers struggle with when the headwind hits the straight.

2. Bacetti (No.1) — $9.00 / $2.20 🏆 3RD
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$6.00
Prob 16.7% | Place: 68.0% | Value: 1.47x
Why Place leverage looks lovely, but the win price isn't doing enough for me to burn stake.

3. Zephyr Song (No.5) — $5.35 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 66.9% | Value: 0.38x
Why He might run okay with the lead, but the price is too cooked versus the task.

Roughie: Geisha Gal (No.3) — $8.45 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.3% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.10x
Why Blinkers first time could fix the pattern, but the heavy lifting has to be done off the early work.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1350m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Cedrela has the early advantage, but the race can turn into a "who's got the gap" affair
Punty read: This one's a midfield ballet until it turns into a sprint for lane space. Cedrela should be thereabouts early, but I'm not ignoring Speedy Crown, he's a classic "good-looking right now, awkward to catch" type. With that pace profile, the danger is horses making runs too early and getting swamped, so you want the ones that settle close and then pounce when the pack stretches.
Fidardo has the "can get involved" profile, and Prophet Of Destiny is the roughie for when the speed goes missing and the race falls in the gap.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Speedy Crown (No.8) — $3.47 / $1.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 30.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why Maps to be in the right part of the run, and he's priced like value rather than hope.

2. Cedrela (No.9) — $2.84 / $1.37 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.36x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Fidardo (No.3) — $4.60 / $1.72 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.37x
Why Can run a big race from the back half if the tempo stays slow and the field bunches.

Roughie: Prophet Of Destiny (No.7) — $12.25 / $2.70 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.4% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.82x
Why The upset path is there, but it's a long march unless something goes pear-shaped early.

✗ MISS Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1110m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, it's all about quick action and not getting trapped, Storm Petal could loom late
Punty read: This is a sprint where a "good beginning" matters more than vibes. Malamagic is the one I trust to do his part, he's priced short enough to follow the obvious, and the place profile says he's likely to be prominent enough. Watchman is the value place type, Wilco can be there early and scrape into it, and Flaressence is your "leader fades into a fight" danger.
I'm wary of the wide-on-paper chaos because it's only 1110m, so any trouble is basically a death sentence.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Malamagic (No.2) — $3.25 / $1.55 SCR
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net +$0.00
Prob 29.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why Short-straight sprint suits his style, and he looks like the one who can survive the melee.

2. Watchman (No.4) — $6.50 / $2.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.8% | Place: 59.8% | Value: 1.16x
Why A real chance — but at $2.25 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Flaressence (No.9) — $4.40 / $1.80 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.85x
Why He's in the mix off the speed, just not enough value for me at this point.

Roughie: Network (No.3) — $25.50 / $4.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.9% | Place: 12.3% | Value: 0.77x
Why If the favourites get dragged into traffic, he might flash late, but that's a pretty specific movie plot.

DrinkWise (Bm68)
2040m · Benchmark 68; · 15:03
✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 68, 2040m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, this is a "place your run and don't lose momentum" staying grind
Punty read: This distance with a slow tempo is where Rosso Levanto can do his thing. If the leaders lounge a bit, he's the kind that keeps mounting pressure without needing the race to sprint. Wounder and Cantarito are the main challengers, but the real story is whether they can get clean into their winding phase. Super Fair is the roughie wildcard because in slower 2040m races, the "when they do start rolling" horse can absolutely snatch a cheque.
Jemoma Alpilage and Possibilities are the ones who might fill a slot if the race opens up, but Rosso Levanto looks like the safer finishing machine.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Rosso Levanto (No.6) — $5.35 / $2.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 26.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.21x
Why He's got the right blend of consistent racing and the kind of tempo where mid-race pressure turns into late payoff.

2. Wounder (No.13) — $3.10 / $1.52 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.9% | Place: 58.2% | Value: 0.73x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Cantarito (No.7) — $4.40 / $1.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.3% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.03x
Why He's live enough to trouble them, just not the one I want stacking with Rosso.

Roughie: Super Fair (No.12) — $21.50 / $4.20 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.4% | Place: 19.1% | Value: 1.36x
Why Needs the race to open late and for the favourite pressure to take a bit out, then she's right there to lift.

✓ WON +$22 Final

Race type: Class 2 Handicap, 1640m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, on-pace runners should get first crack at the finish with the wind on the straight
Punty read: This is Global Eclipse's race to lose on pure profile, he's drawn in a way he can keep finding good ground and keep his rhythm. Toro Strike is the obvious pressure horse and Tulong is right there if the race turns into a battle for positions.
The trouble today for off-speed types is that gusty wind down the straight makes it harder to sustain a finishing burst. So if you're betting, you back the ones who can do the work before the straight, not after it.
That's why I've kept my wallet on Global Eclipse, with Toro Strike as the perfect "if the race stays honest, he's right there" alternate.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Global Eclipse (No.1) — $3.05 / $1.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$21.52
Prob 26.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.94x
Why He's the on-pace map match for this wind and straight run, and he's got enough class to just keep doing his job.

2. Toro Strike (No.5) — $4.70 / $1.80 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.95x
Why A real chance — but at $1.80 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Tulong (No.7) — $5.25 / $1.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.3% | Place: 56.5% | Value: 1.07x
Why He can stalk and keep grinding, but the win upside is the question.

Roughie: Captain Eagle (No.3) — $11.00 / $3.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.9% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.91x
Why If the pace folds and he gets clear late, he can snatch a cheque, but he needs things to go his way.

✓ WON +$26 Final

Race type: Class 3 Plate, 1350m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, speed on speed, you want to be on the bridle rather than chasing shadows
Punty read: Lockyer should take a lot of beating if he gets to control the tempo the way his style says he will. This race profile is made for a horse who can sit in the rhythm and then keep pushing when the field starts to peel.
Earthing is your value runner to keep honest, and Enforceable is right there as the "I'm coming too, don't count me out" type. Twisted Queen is the loose cannon roughie, and if she lands in the right spot she can sneak into your exotics with no drama.
The big thing here is that with a genuine pace, the track suits those who can keep going in the straight, not those who need a big late engine.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Lockyer (No.4) — $3.02 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$26.26
Prob 37.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.98x
Why He's the class-speed combo that handles the pace and wind better than most.

2. Earthing (No.10) — $5.35 / $1.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.15x

3. Enforceable (No.2) — $4.70 / $1.75 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 54.5% | Value: 1.15x
Why On pace and consistent, but Lockyer is the one I'm anchoring to.

Roughie: Twisted Queen (No.8) — $12.75 / $2.75 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.5% | Place: 31.8% | Value: 1.14x
Why If the leaders get shuffled and she gets clear, she can go bang late, otherwise she's chasing.

✗ MISS -$1 Final

Race type: Class 2 Handicap, 1110m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, short sprint where the lane is everything
Punty read: This is a Doomben 1110m, meaning if you're stuck wide with no clear early, you're gonna pay in the last 100m. Don'tcha Luv'er gives you the best blend of speed and control, and Boss Mode is the perfect "if the jump is there, he's dangerous" type.
No Fooling also has the profile to run into it, while Tasman Bay can hang around if the race stays honest. Another Cashie is the value sneaky contender for the minor spots, but the headliner is definitely that on-speed front half.
I like this as a proper "short price with reasons" finish to the card.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Don'tcha Luv'er (No.6) — $2.65 / $1.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $9.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$9.00
Prob 31.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.73x
Why Pace helps on a wind-affected straight, and he's drawn to get rolling early.

2. Boss Mode (No.5) — $5.35 / $2.00 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.3% | Place: 55.5% | Value: 1.25x
Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. No Fooling (No.2) — $7.80 / $2.25 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.0% | Place: 51.2% | Value: 1.31x
Why Can sit handy and use the sprint home, especially if the race bunches.

Bet $6.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$8.40
Prob 11.9% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.33x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Doomben is Good 4 and the wind's tugging, so the on-pace goons get first dibs while the deep-cloistered closers are gonna have to work overtime like it's a Saturday night shift.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Doomben, 1000-2040m card
Rail: +6m Entire
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play On Pace and Stayers in the finish)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 23°C, gusty ESE breeze, watch for "early speed holds up" racing
Early lane guess: Midfield to on speed, you want cover and a straight run at them
Tempo profile: Wind up the straight can make pace sticky, so expect leaders to keep giving and closers to grind
Jockeys to follow:
Michael Rodd: He's got that Heathcote-style "they'll do exactly what they do" calmness, and the speed profile here suits.
Jett Newman: When she lands in a rhythm, she keeps finding, good for races where positions matter.
Cejay Graham: Works the lanes like a bloke moving through a pub queue, especially when the track favours the front half.
Stables to respect:
R L Heathcote (6 runners): This is his sort of meeting, gears, prep, and they come out ready.
T J Gollan (7 runners): They lace them up, they're usually switched on early, and they know how to place one.
Corey & Kylie Geran (4 runners): They target these races with intent, and when the market blinks, you pay attention.

Punty's take: Doomben in these conditions is basically a tape measure job. Leaders should get every chance, the straight wind makes it harder to "late swoop" without real cruising speed, and the +6m rail keeps things a bit kinder for runners who don't cop too much scrubbing.
So I'm building the day around the speed maps, then I'm sprinkling in value where the market is either overreacting or going full blindfold mode. You can see it in the prices already, some "short" aren't giving much and some "not short" are being treated like they ran the wrong race last start.
Big call today is the spine: Race 1's Oregon Coast looks tailor-made for the lane, Race 6 Lockyer is the class-and-position type, and Race 7 Don'tcha Luv'er has the resume and the trip in his favour. Three races, three stories, one plan.

What it means for you: Be aggressive early in the "right places" races, not the whole damn card. Back the horses that get to use the track, then when you land a finishing burst you're riding it to the line, not hoping.
For value, watch the drift and the firming. When something firms without a clear gear/form explanation, it's often because they know they'll get the run. When something drifts, it's often because the plan changed, or the horse needs a different type of race.
This is a day where you can win ugly with lanes and finishers, but you'll get punished if you chase a closer through a headwind straight without cover.
