Punty's take:

This track reads like a classic Carnarvon day, smartly. If you're on speed and you get room, you get paid. If you are stuck three wide with cover too deep, you'll feel the kickback and wear it to the line.

Race 1 is the sort of maiden where the favourite should be involved, but the real play is the place and the exacta chaos with runners who actually map close. Any Questions (No.1) has the "they won't stop" profile, and Amelia's Frost (No.9) is the kind of mid-price that runs on and makes you look competent.

Mid-card is where it gets spicy. Race 3 and Race 6 look like the two traps, because both have a couple of runners that can absolutely run a cheeky finish if the pace suits. But the big confidence today comes from a three-horse spine, and we are building the day around it.

What it means for you:

Go aggressive where the pace map supports the selection, that is how you survive the "it got held up" gremlins. For Race 1, I'm happy to be forward minded, Any Questions in your head and Amelia's Frost as the value place add. Punty read: This one is about who controls the break. Majestuoso Phoenix (No.5) is your most likely "keeps coming" runner, even with that low value look. Kote (No.2) can be there, Simply Rosso (No.3) is the kind that can run into the money if the speed holds. But the safe instinct is to back the short, and let the rest be your backup plan only.

1 - Slow tempo races reward discipline
When the pace is crawling at 1600m and 1400m, you want runners who can bide, then switch on the rail side. That is why Fries With That (Race 3, No.6) and Tango Rhythm (Race 6, No.7) are built for the finish.

2 - Place saver math can be cruel
Even when a runner looks juicy, if the saver band is off, the bet plan goes elsewhere. That's why Lady Coco (Race 4, No.9) and Odin Omen (Race 3, No.4) are tracked but not staked.

3 - 1000m sprint markets love a leader plan
