Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Eagle Farm, head to https://punty.ai/tips/eagle-farm-2026-06-27
Rightio Loose Units, Eagle Farm's wearing a Soft 5, the rail's shoved out, and there's a cheeky headwind up the straight - so this isn't the day to be giving the backmarkers a lazy old coffee break. Get on the right sort: handy, hard-fit, and horses that can take a sit without turning into dead-set anchors.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Eagle Farm, 1200m-2400m card
Rail: +7m 1000m-W/Post; +6m remainder
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play on-pace friendly, with cover still important)
Weather: Shower or two, 13C, humidity 96%, wind 16km/h SSW (watch for a bit of chop in the straight and showers turning the track stingy)
Early lane guess: Inside to middle lanes; don't get buried last if you can help it
Tempo profile: Plenty of early heat in the sprints, a few genuine staying tests late, and the headwind straight means leaders can nick a break if they control things
Jockeys to follow:
Nash Rawiller - keeps turning up in the right races and gets plenty of live rides that map sweet.
Tommy Berry - when he's got one on song, he makes the thing look easy, and he's loaded with chances across the card.
Cejay Graham - a handy swing rider on a few each-way chances and roughies that can lob in the money if the race gets messy.
Stables to respect:
T J Gollan (6 runners) - multiple live darts in the middle and late races, and they look set to land a few punches.
C J Waller (8 runners) - proper presence across the card, especially where the map and class line up.
Chris & Corey Munce (5 runners) - a couple of them are ready to make a nuisance of themselves in the chaos races.
Punty's take: This meeting looks like a proper Eagle Farm brawl - the sort where the first mate to get rolling near the front can make the others chase shadows like they're in a bad Mad Max sequel. With the rail out and that breeze in their faces, swoopers need a fair dinkum tempo or a miracle on the turn. The sprints are the spicy bits: Race 1 and Race 2 are messy, Race 4 is a bush-final knife fight, and Race 8 is the sort of Tiara where half the field can still lob into the exotics if the pace goes pear-shaped.
The pattern I like is simple: on-pace runners with a bit of class and a bit of recent zip. Horses like Asterix, War Eternal, and Yellow Brick look the right sort of anchor plays, while the value sneaks live in the races where everyone wants to play hero - Race 2, Race 4, Race 7, and Race 9. That said, don't go treating every favourite like it's a free kick at goal. Some of these brutes are short enough to make a bookie blush, and a couple of them have more underlay than a dodgy vinyl floor.
What it means for you: Keep the head straight and the wallet from doing dumb stuff. This is a meeting where you can be aggressive in the banker-ish races and a bit more cagey where the map says chaos. The best game plan is to lean on your anchors, spread where the race shape screams ugly, and avoid paying unders for horses that still need the world to go their way. If you're playing exotics, the early quaddie wants coverage, the main quaddie wants a tight spine up front with a bit of insurance in the later legs, and the Big 6 is basically a sweat ticket for the sickos - cheap, skinny, and full of hope.
If the speed is genuine, handy types with soft-track manners should keep giving you a run for your money. If the leaders jam up early, the swoopers like Depth Of Character or Rising Pacific can fly over the top and mug the lot. Either way, this card is not the day for lazy opinions. Get on the right horse for the right reason, and don't get seduced by a price just because it looks sexy at the pub.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Asterix (Race 6, No.1) - $3.23
Why Draws to do no work, maps to stalk the hot pace, and this lot's got no hiding place if he rolls into the straight with a kick.
2 - War Eternal (Race 7, No.1) - $2.36
Why Honest as the day is long, loves a soft enough set-up, and from barrier 3 he should get the kind of run that makes punters grin.
3 - Yellow Brick (Race 9, No.2) - $6.50
Why The market's been all over him, he gets the right kind of sit from barrier 2, and this looks like the perfect bounce-back lane.
Multi (all three to win): $10 x ~49.52 = ~$495.24 collect
Race 1 - The soft-track speed scamper
Race type: Open, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, with Propaganda and Too Hot To Torque likely to keep it honest while the others try not to get boxed in.
Punty read: This is a sneaky little opener where the map matters more than the name on the tin. Propaganda looks the one to beat, but the price is skinny enough to make you squint, and Sword Of Legacy is the sort that can be bailed up, find room, and come with the right run. The one I want on the right side of is Grinzinger Champ - the market's been hoovering him up, and he can sit handy enough to stay out of trouble. La Bella Boom is the roughie with a path if the blinkers sharpen her up and the speed gets messy.
Top 3 + Roughie (20U pool)
1. Propaganda (No.11) - $3.05 / $1.37
Bet $14.00 Each Way ($7.00W + $7.00P), return $21.35 (wins) / $9.59 (places)
Prob 15.3% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 0.59x
Why Comes up the right sort of horse for this map - handy, fit, and the market has kept her tight despite the fact there's a bit of pressure around her. Hard to knock if she can get rolling early and hold that spot.
2. Sword Of Legacy (No.2) - $3.60 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.5% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.61x
Why Forgive the wide and messy latest. Nash can have him in the right spot this time, and if he gets clear air he's got the right sort of turn of foot to stalk and pounce.
3. Grinzinger Champ (No.10) - $8.65 / $2.60
Bet $6.00 Place, return $15.60
Prob 13.5% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.47x
Why This bloke's the sneaky one - strong money, good map, and he's the sort that can sit close enough to capitalise if the front-runners start chewing the corners off each other.
Roughie: La Bella Boom (No.6) - $13.50 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.0% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 1.53x
Why Blinkers first time on a horse with enough dash to blow this race apart if the start is clean and the tempo turns into a proper war.
Race 2 - The chaos goblin 1200
Race type: Benchmark 85, 1200m
Map & tempo: Hot speed everywhere - there are a stack of leaders, and the pressure should be fierce from the jump.
Punty read: This is one of those races where the form guide can go for a swim. Town Crier, Istolea Merc and Now Is The Hour all have legitimate claims, but the map says somebody's getting cooked. I don't mind Bossed Up and Navyonthehighway in the right shape of race either - the latter especially if the pressure melts the leaders late. Scheherazade is the short-priced one and the one everyone will stare at, but at this price you want a proper reason before you smash the doors in.
Top 3 + Roughie (15U pool)
1. Town Crier (No.5) - $8.40 / $3.00
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $63.00 (wins) / $22.50 (places)
Prob 13.4% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.63x
Why The drift's a touch ugly, but the map still says he's in the mix if he can control the race from the front and not get turned into kindling by the hot tempo.
2. Istolea Merc (No.13) - $7.20 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.40x
Why Honest type who keeps finding the line, but from out wide he's going to need a clean run and a bit of luck to avoid being bailed up in the wrong part of the track.
3. Navyonthehighway (No.4) - $10.00 / $3.30
Bet $15.00 Place, return $49.50
Prob 10.9% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.58x
Why He gets the right sort of set-up for a late swoop if the leaders overcook it. The price is fair enough and the map gives him a genuine door to walk through.
Roughie: Bossed Up (No.9) - $10.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 1.28x
Why The place profile is juicy and he's good enough to sneak into the finish if the speed collapse turns this into a bit of a lottery.
Race 3 - The classy mile-and-a-bit
Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, with Tannin and Hide The Pierata advantaged if they get the right rhythm.
Punty read: This looks like the race where the market's got a foot on the throat of Tannin, but the back-up brigade can absolutely make life awkward. Marffiano has the sort of profile that can improve sharply with blinkers on, Cool Gent is the one finishing off late, and The Machine Gun is the debut winner who might still have another gear. Hard To Exceed is the one the market has come for, but he still needs to prove he's better than just the hype machine.
Top 3 + Roughie (17U pool)
1. Tannin (No.6) - $4.00 / $1.70
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P), return $26.00 (wins) / $11.05 (places)
Prob 15.0% | Place: 63.7% | Value: 0.77x
Why If he gets a soft lead or a stalking run, the rest are in trouble - he looks a proper 1400m type and this tempo should let him travel like a winner.
2. Marffiano (No.1) - $7.75 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.7% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 1.36x
Why Blinkers first time, and the latest run had excuses for days. If he lands a touch closer than last time, he can absolutely bob up and spoil the party.
3. Cool Gent (No.2) - $9.00 / $2.90
Bet $4.00 Place, return $11.60
Prob 13.7% | Place: 63.7% | Value: 1.58x
Why He'll be the one flashing home when the others are gasping. Perfect horse for a race that could be run like a chess game and finished like a bar fight.
Roughie: The Machine Gun (No.3) - $12.75 / $3.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.1% | Place: 66.7% | Value: 1.49x
Why Unknown quantity still, but if he's improved from the debut win and doesn't get bullied by the older legs, he's right in the mix.
Race 4 - Bush final knife fight
Race type: Special Condition, 1200m
Map & tempo: Hot tempo, plenty of leaders, and the pressure should be relentless.
Punty read: This is the sort of race that turns into a circus if one of the leaders misses the break. Sunnycoast looks the right one - she's got the map, the class, and the right kind of form to keep going when the others start looking for the couch. Revolt is a rock-solid front-running type but the price is short enough to make you ask questions. Odegaard has the talent, but the market move is screaming confidence and he's still got to prove he wants to play nice under pressure. Red Hot Lizzie is the spicy roughie - not hard to imagine her hanging around if the speed gets too hot.
Top 3 + Roughie (10.50U pool)
1. Sunnycoast (No.3) - $7.50 / $2.50
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), return $39.38 (wins) / $13.12 (places)
Prob 15.1% | Place: 54.9% | Value: 1.71x
Why Good form, right map, and she keeps turning up. With the leaders rolling in front, she gets the kind of run that can make the others look like they're standing still.
2. Revolt (No.2) - $4.40 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.81x
Why Honest enough to lead them a merry dance, but this is a tougher story than the home-track jobs and he's short enough to make me itchy.
3. Odegaard (No.8) - $5.25 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.9% | Place: 39.9% | Value: 0.78x
Why He's got the engine, but the price assumes everything goes right and this is a race where things tend to go right for the bloke on the speed, not the fancy backmarker.
Roughie: Red Hot Lizzie (No.11) - $9.35 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.8% | Place: 39.9% | Value: 1.38x
Why If the front-runners have a coronary and this turns into a slog, she can be the one rattling home over the top and ruining someone's day.
Race 5 - The staying chess match
Race type: Open, 2100m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, with Pinito and Bestower advantaged if they can keep the rhythm smooth.
Punty read: This is a proper stamina test where the market's split the room. Pinito and Hyperbolic are the obvious class acts, but Sun Worshipper is the one I want as the value play because he can sit off them and come into it when the others start feeling the pinch. Walsh Bay is the roughie with enough old battler grit to hang around if the race becomes a grind. No need to get cute - this is a race where patience matters and the horses that can sustain a long run are the ones you'll want on the ticket.
Top 3 + Roughie (11U pool)
1. Pinito (No.1) - $3.38 / $1.40
Bet $7.50 Each Way ($3.75W + $3.75P), return $12.67 (wins) / $5.25 (places)
Prob 22.5% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 0.97x
Why He's the horse the race may end up circling around, and from the good draw he can control his own fate if the tempo stays soft.
2. Hyperbolic (No.3) - $3.50 / $1.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.5% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 1.01x
Why Rock-solid type who keeps finding the line, but at this level you don't want to pay for perfection when the race might be won by the bloke with the better turn of foot.
3. Sun Worshipper (No.4) - $8.50 / $2.45
Bet $3.50 Place, return $8.58
Prob 11.6% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.26x
Why The price is the appeal. He gets the map to stalk, and if the pace turns into a sit-and-sprint he can be the one finishing like a train at the end of the movie.
Roughie: Walsh Bay (No.2) - $12.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.8% | Place: 63.7% | Value: 1.51x
Why Needs the race to be run at a crawl and then turned into a sprint, but if that happens he's the sneaky smokey who can pinch a slice.
Race 6 - The Cup grinder
Race type: Open, 2400m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, with Future History likely to roll along up front and make it a true staying test.
Punty read: This is the sort of race where class and fitness do the heavy lifting. Asterix has the soft map and the right sort of profile to lob in the sweet spot, while Future History is the obvious danger if he gets his own way in front. Pounding is always a chance in a staying race, but the setup is a touch sticky. Fawkner Park has the upside if the blinkers-type improvement keeps coming, and Etna Rosso is the roughie if the race turns into a long, punishing slog and the leaders knock each other up.
Top 3 + Roughie (15U pool)
1. Asterix (No.1) - $3.23 / $1.55
Bet $15.00 Win, return $48.45
Prob 30.1% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.19x
Why Maps beautifully, handles the trip, and with the pace genuine he should get the kind of run that lets his stamina do the talking.
2. Future History (No.2) - $2.79 / $1.45
Bet $5.00 Place, return $7.25
Prob 30.1% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.03x
Why The leader's the leader for a reason, and if he gets a cheap enough sectional he can make the others chase their tails.
3. Pounding (No.5) - $3.25 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.2% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.73x
Why Genuine stayer, but the setup isn't quite as rosy as the top pair and the field is thin enough that the play is to be ruthless.
Roughie: Etna Rosso (No.4) - $13.00 / $4.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.4% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.86x
Why If they go too hard early and the race becomes a war of attrition, he's the one who can grind into the exotics late.
Race 7 - The mile of mayhem
Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, with War Eternal advantaged and a few others needing the race to unfold just so.
Punty read: This is a beauty - the kind of mile where the short-priced favourite can either stamp the race or get stitched up by a cunning ride. War Eternal is the anchor, and I'm happy to trust the form and the map. Sun God is the obvious danger but the price is skinny enough to make your eyes water. The real value is in the chasers: Depth Of Character can absolutely swoop if they overdo it, Kronenbourg is flying through the market, and Port Lockroy is the old honest slugger who can fill a hole if things get rough. Rising Pacific is the roughie to watch if they go hard enough to bring the backmarkers into play.
Top 3 + Roughie (17U pool)
1. War Eternal (No.1) - $2.36 / $1.37
Bet $11.50 Win, return $27.14
Prob 23.1% | Place: 54.9% | Value: 0.86x
Why He's the straight bat in the race - consistent, tactical, and well placed from barrier 3 to get the dream run.
2. Sun God (No.2) - $1.61 / $1.25
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.5% | Place: 54.9% | Value: 0.42x
Why The form is proper, but the price is a bit greedy and he's going to need things to pan out without any funny business.
3. Depth Of Character (No.3) - $12.00 / $3.30
Bet $5.50 Place, return $18.15
Prob 9.6% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.80x
Why If the tempo lifts even a touch, he's the bloke swooping down the outside like the credits at the end of a heist movie.
Roughie: Rising Pacific (No.6) - $15.50 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 2.61x
Why He's the one who needs the race to melt down - if it does, he'll be the one charging late when the others are flat.
Race 8 - The Tiara tantrum
Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, but it's the sort of race where the first turn can still sort the whole thing out.
Punty read: This is a chaos special. Manaal is the top pick and the one with the best mix of class and upside, but Splash Back and Gerringong both have enough about them to make life uncomfortable if they land in the right spot. Within The Law is the live value runner - first-time blinkers and a map that could let her lob in the right part of the race. Poster Girl is the roughie with the sexy place profile if the race gets a bit frantic and the favourite brigade start making mistakes.
Top 3 + Roughie (21.50U pool)
1. Manaal (No.3) - $6.10 / $2.25
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $45.75 (wins) / $16.88 (places)
Prob 14.5% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.16x
Why Good horse, right sort of map, and the one most likely to land in the sweet spot if they don't go bananas up front.
2. Splash Back (No.1) - $5.85 / $1.97
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.8% | Place: 28.9% | Value: 0.90x
Why Sound enough, but the price is a bit skinny for a horse that still needs luck in running.
3. Within The Law (No.17) - $8.45 / $2.90
Bet $6.50 Place, return $18.85
Prob 11.8% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.30x
Why Blinkers first time and a handy enough shape if the race stretches out. Can absolutely sneak into the finish and annoy the favourites.
Roughie: Poster Girl (No.13) - $19.75 / $6.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.7% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.96x
Why If the pace gets ugly and the wider draws are forced to work, she's the one who can dart into the frame at a blowout price.
Race 9 - The sprint lottery
Race type: Open, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, with Yellow Brick and Oak Hill advantaged while the pressure behind them can get messy.
Punty read: Yellow Brick is the obvious one - market support, good draw, and the kind of class that can bounce straight back when the race shape is kind. Hidden Wealth is the danger with the right run, Oak Hill is the one who can swoop if the leaders overcook it, and Niance is the spicy value play with the gear change and the market whisper. Barber is the roughie if you're hunting a trench-run late.
Top 3 + Roughie (25U pool)
1. Yellow Brick (No.2) - $6.50 / $2.50
Bet $19.00 Each Way ($9.50W + $9.50P), return $61.75 (wins) / $23.75 (places)
Prob 14.3% | Place: 63.7% | Value: 1.21x
Why The money's been there for a reason - good draw, right sort of map, and he looks set up to give a proper sight from the midfield.
2. Hidden Wealth (No.3) - $7.75 / $2.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.6% | Place: 63.7% | Value: 1.18x
Why He's the one who can keep sticking on if the pace isn't too brutal, and the market move says the stable isn't mucking about.
3. Oak Hill (No.6) - $7.85 / $2.65
Bet $6.00 Place, return $15.90
Prob 11.6% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.19x
Why Classy enough to win it if the race gets the right sort of shape, but the better play is to have him finishing over the top late.
Roughie: Niance (No.9) - $10.50 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.1% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.52x
Why Blinkers first time and a few of the right signs - if the front half gets into a bit of a wrestling match, he's right there to pinch the lot.
SEQUENCE LANES - SINGLE OPTIMISED TICKET
EARLY QUADDIE (R2-R5)
Smart: 13,5,4,9 / 6,1,2,3 / 3,2,8,11 / 3,1,4,2 (256 combos x $0.25 = $65.00) -- 25% flexi
Four open legs means this is a proper survival ticket - R5 is the closest thing to a banker, but the first three legs can chew you up if you get cute.
QUADDIE (R6-R9)
Smart: 1,2,5 / 1,2,3,6,11 / 3,17,1,6 / 6,2,3,9,11 (300 combos x $0.17 = $50.00) -- 17% flexi
Tight spine up front with a couple of chaos legs late - that's the right way to play it, but don't pretend it's a stroll in the park.
BIG 6 (R4-R9)
Smart: 3 / 1 / 1 / 1 / 3 / 2 (1 combos x $2.00 = $2.00) -- 200% flexi
This is the skinny version for the dreamers - four bankers and two legs that can still chuck a banana peel under your feet.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - The on-pace lane is your mate
With the rail out and a bit of wind in their faces, leaders and handy runners look far happier than backmarkers trying to wind up like a freight train.
2 - The market is loud in the right places
The biggest moves are landing where the map makes sense - Asterix, War Eternal, Yellow Brick, and a few of the value roughies have all been getting proper love for good reason.
3 - The chaos races are where the exotics live or die
Race 2, Race 4, Race 7, and Race 9 are the ones where you can get paid if you find the right off-speed finishers. It's not a day for throwing darts at the wall and hoping one sticks like a Marvel post-credit scene.
THE DEGEN DEN
That's your Eagle Farm cheat sheet, legends - keep the anchors tight, respect the pace map, and don't go losing your marbles on a short one that deserves to be shorter than your patience. If you're playing the quaddie, stay disciplined; if you're playing the races individually, back the story that actually makes sense. Gamble Responsibly.
