Rightio Loose Units, Eagle Farm on a Soft 5, rail +5m right through, and the wind's got that "come on pace, earn your keep" look about it. This is one of those tracks where if you're stuck parked wide early you might as well be doing push-ups in quicksand. The straight is a grind, so I want runners that can either hold their lane near the speed or hit the line with purpose without needing a miracle.

My Big 3 spine is three short-price headaches, all on the right side of the pace map, where the soft deck helps the performers who know how to work through mud and still have a gear left. From there it's a race-by-race mix of bankers, value pivots, and one or two "alright fuck it, let's have a go" roughies.

Stables worth taking seriously today: T J Gollan is always live when the map suits, C J Waller's got a habit of getting them right for the tricky conditions, and L F Birchley and the Lipp stable are the kind of outfits that sneak a place, then laugh at the rest of your tote.

Punty's take: Eagle Farm on Soft 5 with the rail out means you get a "protect your ground" race. The headwind up the straight makes closers work harder for the same burst. So the big story is pace. When a runner maps to sit handy, they get first shot, and they don't have to chase the leader around the whole track like a Netflix sequel nobody asked for.

Race 1 is exactly that, two speedsters and a couple of pressure relievers. Spirit Of Barty and Howdoyouzou look like they'll get first dibs on the run, with the straight doing favours to those who can stay within striking distance. Then we go long in Race 2 where it's a stamina battle and a soft-track test, and I'm not scared of a place bet when the market's still trying to catch its breath.

Race 3 to Race 6 is where you can build a day, but you've gotta keep your head screwed on. In the sprints, the winners are usually the ones who either get a clean run or get the right cover. In the 1600-2200 mix, the track turns into a slow cooker. You don't need the fastest, you need the one who stays switched on through the wobble.

What it means for you: If you're a "start betting late" grub like me some days, this is the track to be earlier than you think. On Soft 5 with the straight headwind, timing matters, and the place money gets earned by the horse that doesn't get shuffle-stuck at the wrong moment.

Strategy-wise, be aggressive where the pace is drawn and proven. That's where I'm backing the short-priced winners to do their job.
