For all of Punty's tips for Innisfail, head to https://punty.ai/tips/innisfail-2026-06-20
Rightio Loose Units, Innisfail's a proper bog-day brawl on a Heavy 10 with the rail true - the first couple of races look like a speed war in a swamp, the middle of the card is a bit of a chess match, and the 2000m final act is going to separate the grinders from the ones who are just here for a scenic jog.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Innisfail, 900m-2000m card
Rail: True
Official going: Heavy 10 (expected to play honest early, then turn into a survival test)
Weather: Shower or two, 22°C, humidity 80%, wind 18km/h SSE (watch for fresh showers and gusts)
Early lane guess: True rail early, but don't bank on a pure inside bias once the chop starts biting
Tempo profile: Hot in R1/R2, more measured in R3/R5, then a proper slog in R6
Jockeys to follow:
Ms Lacey Morrison — she lands on some of the day's cleanest rides and gets the right sort of map on the main chances.
Ms Krysten Swaffer — keeps popping up on wet-track hopes that can turn a messy race into a payday.
Wanderson D'Avila — handy in the rougher races where patience, balance and timing matter more than flash.
Stables to respect:
Stephen Bush (5 runners) — spread right across the card with live hopes in the maiden and the staying race; if one of theirs gets a clean run, watch out.
Trevor & Peter Rowe (3 runners) — a neat hand of map runners and a couple that can capitalise if the track gets ugly.
Bodine Bailey (4 runners) — plenty of chances and a couple who look like they won't mind a proper dig in the wet.
Punty's take: This is not the day to go full hero mode and start punting every second runner like you're auditioning for the next Fast and the Furious sequel. The sprints are all about who can hold a spot without burning petrol, and the heavy ground means the wrong run can turn a fancy into dead meat pretty quick. Scarlett Moda, Yes Dream and Super Steven look like the cleanest anchors on the card, but there are a few races where you need to respect the ugly side of racing and not get seduced by the shiny prices.
The key story here is shape, not glamour. Race 1 and Race 2 should reward the horses closest to the action, while Race 5 is the proper chaos goblin where the market can get mugged if the tempo gets messy. Then Race 6 turns into a wet-track stamina exam - if they crawl early, the one that keeps picking up late will look like a genius. This card has a bit of everything: a couple of bankers, a couple of banana peels, and one race that looks like the last scene of Saving Private Ryan.
What it means for you: Keep the aggression where the map and class line up, and be a bit tighter in the races where the field can split you like a cheap deck chair. The plan is simple: lean on the obvious anchors in the early quaddie legs, then spread in the races where the conditions can blow the whole thing apart. Don't chase every roughie just because it's wearing a juicy number - if the shape doesn't suit, it's just bait with silks on.
If you're playing the day straight, the money wants to sit around the sprints and the heavy-track grinders, not the horses that need everything to go pear-shaped. Race 4 is a banker-ish maiden where the top pick does look the one, and Race 6 is the one where you want the better wet-track profiles and the right stamina setup. Let the race shape do the lifting, and don't get dragged into a mug's picnic because a price looks sexy in the ring.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
1 - Scarlett Moda (Race 1, No.6) — $3.23
Why She's the class bird in the opener and, even with the speed on, she has the right turn of foot to pounce if she gets a clean lane through the muck.
2 - Super Steven (Race 4, No.2) — $2.94
Why This looks the strongest maiden on the card, the draw is tidy, and in a thin race he can sit close and put them away.
3 - Yes Dream (Race 2, No.6) — $2.95
Why Barrier 2, maps beautifully in the hot sprint, and if he's got the right fuel left late he'll be mighty hard to run down.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × ~28.01 = ~$280.14 collect
Race 1 – Mud-Flat Missile
Race type: Benchmark 55, 900m
Map & tempo: Hot pace with Remember Roy, Scarlett Moda, Airborne Hotdog and Shere Khan all wanting a say up front.
Punty read: This is a proper burn-up and the wet track makes it even more interesting. Scarlett Moda is the one the market has firmed around, but the map says nobody gets a picnic out front - if they overcook it, the back half can start arriving like the cavalry. Remember Roy is the kind of inside horse that can pinch a prize if the leaders get dragged into a war, while Airborne Hotdog is the roughie that can thunder home if the front end falls in a heap.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Scarlett Moda (No.6) — $3.23 / $1.74
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 36.1% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 0.92x
Why She maps right near the speed in a race that should be run at warp speed, and if Ms Morrison gets her rolling at the right time she'll be too sharp when the others are gasping.
2. Our Addiction (No.5) — $7.04 / $3.01
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.85x
Why Honest on-pace type who can hang around if the leaders start coughing, but the stake is parked on the top pick in this one.
3. Remember Roy (No.1) — $10.75 / $4.25
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.15x
Why The inside gate and last-start excuses keep him in the picture, especially if the heavy track starts taxing the front-runners late.
Roughie: Airborne Hotdog (No.7) — $10.00 / $4.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.07x
Why He can sweep into the finish if the speed goes suicidal, but he's got to find another gear late to knock over the top few.
Race 2 – Speed Fight
Race type: Open, 900m
Map & tempo: Hot tempo again with Midas Star, Roweiner's Dance, Spirit Meister and Desert Grit all up around the speed.
Punty read: Yes Dream looks the cleanest map horse on the card so far - barrier 2, right on the speed, and in a race where the leaders are likely to be punching holes in each other. Speed Legend is the danger if he gets a drag into it and can soak up the pressure, while Desert Grit is the roughie with enough tactical speed to make things messy if he finds the rail and kicks up. This is the sort of race where the right sit can make you look like Nostradamus, and the wrong run can have you staring at the screen like a stunned mullet.
Top 3 + Roughie ($20.00 pool)
1. Yes Dream (No.6) — $2.95 / $1.65
Bet $11.50 Win, return $33.93
Prob 34.2% | Place: 66.7% | Value: 1.01x
Why He maps to get the perfect run near the speed and the heavy ground shouldn't scare him one bit if he can keep the rhythm.
2. Roweiner's Dance (No.3) — $5.62 / $2.54
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 66.7% | Value: 0.94x
Why Rock-solid type with the right sort of form to hang around the finish, but the price isn't friendly enough to get greedy on the saver side.
3. Speed Legend (No.4) — $6.49 / $2.83
Bet $8.50 Place, return $24.05
Prob 14.8% | Place: 66.7% | Value: 0.96x
Why He was checked last time and gets another crack with a better run; if the hot speed melts, he's the one who can keep churning away.
Roughie: Desert Grit (No.8) — $10.99 / $4.33
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.0% | Place: 63.7% | Value: 1.32x
Why Has enough map presence to stick in the fight, and if the front runners start tripping over each other he's the sort who can nick a slice.
Race 3 – The Wet-Track Test
Race type: Benchmark 60, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, but Irresistible Force, Superstitions and Tipped Off all have enough presence to make it tactically interesting.
Punty read: This one is a classic Innisfail slog - not a mad speed battle, but not a sit-and-sprint either. Irresistible Force gets the nod because he can roll forward and the class level is right for him, even if the race doesn't scream value. Superstitions and Tipped Off are the two who can mop up late if the early work goes into the red zone, and Skogafoss is the sort of wet-track grinder that can hit the frame if the leaders start feeling the pinch. Think of it like a football final in the mud: nobody looks pretty, but the bloke who keeps his feet usually wins the argument.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Irresistible Force (No.2) — $2.72 / $1.57
Bet $10.50 Win, return $28.56
Prob 23.5% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.64x
Why He maps on the speed in a race that shouldn't get too far away from him, and the class edge is enough to keep him right in the fight.
2. Superstitions (No.6) — $8.70 / $3.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.8% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.29x
Why He'll be finishing over the top late if they overdo it, but the place tote isn't giving enough love to get cute with the saver.
3. Tipped Off (No.7) — $8.70 / $3.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.8% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 1.29x
Why Backmarker profile suits the shape if the leaders stack up, but he's more an exotics player than a staking horse from here.
Roughie: Skogafoss (No.5) — $11.24 / $4.41
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.7% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.09x
Why Loves the wet and can grind his way into the money if the race turns into a war of attrition.
Race 4 – Tiny-Field Tussle
Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo with Tutu Toulouse clearly advantaged if they crawl, while Sweet 'n' Elite is the one that can get stuck in the wrong part of the race.
Punty read: Super Steven looks like the clear maiden to beat - nice enough barrier, clean enough map, and this isn't a race packed with future stars. Onoma and Too Much Chilli are the obvious dangers if the favourite cops even a small knock, but the real smokey is Tutu Toulouse because slow races can turn into a nasty little jolt for the horses that get first crack at the sprint. It's a tiny field, which means mistakes get punished harder than a bad haircut, so the top pick deserves the respect.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Super Steven (No.2) — $2.94 / $1.65
Bet $15.00 Win, return $44.10
Prob 35.2% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 1.04x
Why Best maiden on the page, right sort of draw, and in a five-horse job he's the one most likely to land in the first wave and take control.
2. Onoma (No.1) — $4.90 / $2.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 54.9% | Value: 0.85x
Why He's the one that can easily sit close to the action from the inside and make life awkward if the favourite misses a beat.
3. Too Much Chilli (No.4) — $5.24 / $2.41
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 46.3% | Value: 0.90x
Why If he brings his best and the race gets turned into a crawl, he can absolutely get involved without needing the front too early.
Roughie: Tutu Toulouse (No.5) — $7.58 / $3.19
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 54.9% | Value: 1.13x
Why She's the one that can be thrown into the race if they crawl, but in a tiny maiden I'd rather keep the ammo for the banker and move on.
Race 5 – Chaos Handicap
Race type: Benchmark 50, 1500m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, but it's one of those races where the shape can blow up in your face if the on-pacers get the right splits.
Punty read: This is the proper dog's breakfast of the meeting. Bombinate is the one the model trusts most, but it's not a race for the faint-hearted - there are enough runners here to make a grown punter cry into his pie. San Juan and Lucky Jim can both hang around if the race doesn't get too messy, while Eyeleftit is the roughie who can drift into the frame if the leaders go too hard too early. This is the sort of race where a mid-price horse can walk out of the shadows like Gandalf and collect the whole pot.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Bombinate (No.2) — $5.08 / $2.36
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P), return $33.02 (wins) / $15.34 (places)
Prob 17.2% | Place: 25.5% | Value: 0.74x
Why He's the horse you'd rather be with when the race turns ugly - a proper grinder who can absorb the carnage and still be there when the whips are cracking.
2. San Juan (No.5) — $7.19 / $3.06
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 28.4% | Value: 1.05x
Why Can chime in if the pace gets honest, but the market has him priced as one of the many rather than the one.
3. Lucky Jim (No.10) — $7.75 / $3.25
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 28.4% | Value: 1.00x
Why He can hold a position and make a race of it, but the place profile says you're better off leaving the wallet zipped.
Roughie: Eyeleftit (No.3) — $11.36 / $4.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.0% | Place: 35.0% | Value: 0.96x
Why If the speed collapses and they start tripping over each other, he can clatter into the finish and ruin a few quaddies.
Race 6 – Stayers' Mud-Gladiator
Race type: Benchmark 65, 2000m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, and that usually means a tactical squeeze rather than a raw staying war.
Punty read: This is where the adults start sorting themselves from the kids. Nippa's Nightcap is the one the model leans on because he can settle, conserve and still find enough late, while Amalfi Amore has the class to be right in it if the race doesn't turn into a crawl-fest. The Honey Badger is the grinder who keeps coming when others start blowing out their candles, and Prefer To Dance is the sneaky one if the tempo somehow gets genuine late. On a Heavy 10, this is less about glamour and more about who can keep churning when everyone else's legs are full of wet concrete.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)
1. Nippa's Nightcap (No.2) — $4.93 / $2.31
Bet $12.00 Each Way ($6.00W + $6.00P), return $29.58 (wins) / $13.86 (places)
Prob 25.0% | Place: 60.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why The map suits him nicely, the heavy ground shouldn't rattle him, and he's the type who can keep picking up late when others are spent.
2. Amalfi Amore (No.3) — $4.31 / $2.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.0% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 1.08x
Why Honest stayer with the right class and enough wet-track nous to make a race of it if the pace gets messy late.
3. The Honey Badger (No.4) — $5.56 / $2.52
Bet $7.50 Place, return $18.90
Prob 17.9% | Place: 65.5% | Value: 0.99x
Why He's the tough one in the race - the sort that keeps grinding when the rest are looking for a pillow.
Roughie: Prefer To Dance (No.7) — $14.08 / $5.36
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.4% | Place: 43.3% | Value: 0.76x
Why If the race somehow turns into a proper staying test late, he can be the one charging home when the others have had enough.
SEQUENCE LANES — SINGLE OPTIMISED TICKET
QUADDIE (R3-R6)
Smart: 2,6,7,5,3 / 2,1,4 / 2,5,10,1,7 / 2,3,4,8 (300 combos x $0.12 = $35.00) -- 12% flexi
Three open legs and one solid anchor - it's more "weather-beaten survivor" than "set-and-forget banker", so treat it as a proper entertainment ticket with a real chance if one of the mid-price grinders pops.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Stephen Bush Everywhere
Stephen Bush has live runners dotted all over the card, including Midas Star, Super Steven, Capicella, Bombinate and Medal. When one stable keeps showing up in half the races, it's usually not a coincidence.
2 - Heavy 10 Means Position Matters
On this sort of slop, the first two sprints often go to horses that can hold a spot and save ground. If you're four wide and chasing in R1 or R2, you're basically doing laps for fun.
3 - Race 6 Can Get Weird
A slow-run 2000m on a heavy deck can turn into a sprint home, which is exactly why the proper grinders like Nippa's Nightcap and The Honey Badger are the ones to have on the radar.
THE CHAOS KITCHEN
Heavy 10 cards are where the smart punter keeps the ego in the glovebox and lets the race shape do the heavy lifting. Stick to the plan, respect the wet, and don't go chasing every shiny price just because it looks pretty from the grandstand. Gamble Responsibly.
