Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Moe, head to https://punty.ai/tips/moe-2026-10-18
Rightio Loose Units, Moe's a Good 4, rail is out 6m round the whole joint, so it's "snag or get stuffed" vibes if you're stuck parked. No rain to muck things up, so we're chasing speed that actually gets results, not just speed that looks pretty in the first 200m.
I'm expecting the front end to get a crack today. When the map says ON-PACE or LEADER, you listen. When it says MIDFIELD or BACKMARKER, you earn your stripes late and pray the gaps come. And because it's Maiden, Restricted and Benchmark sort of carnage, the form can be a bit like a dodgy mate at a pub poker game, you still respect it, but you don't marry it.
My spine is simple, Big 3 across the card, then we build a multi around the three most likely winners. After that, I'll hunt a roughie that can land when the pace bends and the field scrambles like it's trying to beat the last train.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Good 4, 1200-2050m card
Rail: Out 6m Entire Circuit
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed with a straight line bias)
Weather: Mostly sunny, 23°C, humidity 41%, wind 9km/h SSW (watch for gusts)
Early lane guess: Speed sits in the first 3-4, then you want your raincoat on for the wide finishers
Tempo profile: Mixed, but the sprints will be push and shove, the middle distance tries to settle then sprint in the lane
Jockeys to follow:
Jake Noonan: A few keys across the day, and he rides like he expects the gaps to exist.
Lachlan King: When he's on something with pace, he doesn't kid around.
Zac Spain: The type to jump from the wrong parking spot and still get home.
Stables to respect:
Ms S Trolove (4 runners): They keep producing go-forward maidens and restrictions, no panic moves.
M Price & M Kent Jnr (3 runners): When they bring them back into it, they usually aren't there for moral support.
C W McDonald (3 runners): Can lift a horse off a prep into a sneaky good run, especially when the map says chance.
Punty's take:
Moe on a Good 4 with the rail out 6m usually means you can win from the speed, but you can also get stitched if you're too keen early and too stubborn late. The short races are where the lanes matter, especially with those genuine pace maps in Race 2 and the sprinty energy in Race 5.
Race 4 to 7, this is where I'm getting the quaddie-brain on. Olney in Race 4 looks like the one who can sit mid race and still hit the line like he's been paid by the metre. Then in Race 6, Noble Style is the "you don't argue with the market" type, but we're not backing overs for the thrill, we're backing the horse that can run a honest race.
And Race 7 is a proper hcp puzzle. The front group is there, but the value is in the runners that can get a position without doing too much work. Spirit Angel is your anchor, then Delightful Journey gives you the roughie story if the race turns into a scramble.
What it means for you:
Be aggressive where the map is clearly doing you favours. That's Race 2 with the sprint pace, Race 4 with the 2050m tempo where stalking counts, and Race 6 where Noble Style should be in the right spot to lift.
Where you've got MIDFIELD and BACKMARKER types, you're not "saving" them by believing. You're saving your ego by taking the value lines, and letting them win the race in the last 150m if the leaders fold. If they don't, at least your bet structure wasn't emotional.
So yeah, I'm backing the obvious spine, then I'm having a crack at the roughie route where the pace collapses or the market is playing dress-ups.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Go Maggie Mae (Race 2, No.10) — $1.56
Why Gets the right sprint scenario and has the "I'll just keep going" profile.
2 - Olney (Race 4, No.4) — $3.75
Why Strong map fit and the form angle looks built for a benchmark grind to the line.
3 - The Minstrel Boy (Race 3, No.5) — $2.76
Why The kind of maiden that's been there enough times and should hit peak timing.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × ~16 = ~$160 collect
Race 1 – Maiden Mayhem, Carmageddon Sprint (ish)
Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Frewdamoss map says BACKMARKER, Mongolian Hero is ON-PACE, Bohemian Blitz wants it up front, tempo is Moderate Pace
Punty read: Mongolian Hero (No.3) is the logical pilot here, and he's coming back from a first-up spell which can work wonders in maiden plates where fitness jumps matter. Bohemian Blitz is trying to get the front, but the bigger danger is the race turning into a speed ladder and the ON-PACE horses getting first run at the finish. Ruby Guild and Tale Of Genji look like they can fill spots if the track runs to that "position wins" script, while Frewdamoss is the interesting value if the pace collapses and the backmarkers get their moment.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)
1. Mongolian Hero (No.3) — $3.55 / $1.35
Bet $10.00 Win, return $35.50
Prob 23.8% | Place: 54.0% | Value: 1.08x ▼5% since tip
Why ON-PACE map, first-up is a plus in maidens, and the style fits a Good 4 rail-out run.
2. Ruby Guild (No.9) — $5.10 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.38x ▲4% since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.75 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Frewdamoss (No.7) — $9.80 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.33x ▲12% since tip
Why The value is there, but I'm being disciplined, Mongolian Hero is the cleaner play.
Roughie: Iron Eagle (No.2) — $9.20 / $2.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.02x ▼6% since tip
Why If the speed dies, he swoops late, but he's a "fill the gaps" job in a maiden.
Race 2 – Energy's Genuine Pace Party
Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Express Sonic is LEADER, Welcometodetroit and Tickety Boo are pacing suited (PACE advantaged)
Punty read: This is the sprint where the first 300m decides who gets to have fun. Go Maggie Mae (No.10) is the heavy favourite for a reason, she maps right and she doesn't look like a "flash then gone" job. Behind her, Smart Step (No.9) and Express Sonic (No.7) can absolutely feature, but the danger is that in a tight 1100 sprint, if the leaders go too hard too soon, it turns into a lottery of who times the run best.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Go Maggie Mae (No.10) — $1.56 / $1.02
Bet $15.00 Win, return $23.40
Prob 48.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.90x Steady since tip
Why Proper genuine speed on, she's made for this sprint tempo, and she's the one to trust at the sharp end.
2. Smart Step (No.9) — $8.40 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.27x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Express Sonic (No.7) — $12.50 / $2.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why Could run a race, but value just isn't flashing enough for me.
Roughie: Tickety Boo (No.6) — $12.50 / $2.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 28.3% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why If the pace holds up, he's live, but it's Go Maggie Mae's race to lose early.
Race 3 – 1600m Maiden, The Slow Burn Scare
Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Style Guide is PACE advantaged, The Minstrel Boy maps MIDFIELD, Hirarkee and Kuheylan are ON-PACE types
Punty read: This is the kind of maiden where everyone looks like they're cruising, then the real sprint starts and the horses that can handle a slower tempo get paid. The Minstrel Boy (No.5) is my main man, he's got the cleanest "can run on" profile, especially if the pace stays even instead of blowing out. I'mfallinforyou (No.7) is the danger if the race sets up for midfield runners to wind up. Shuwaib (No.4) is a watch late, while Amsterdam Nights (No.10) is the rougher type if something goes wrong up front.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. The Minstrel Boy (No.5) — $2.76 / $1.30
Bet $13.00 Win, return $35.88
Prob 27.5% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.52x ▼2% since tip
Why Slow pace scenario helps horses who can find the line, and this bloke's fit enough to take the step.
2. I'mfallinforyou (No.7) — $5.40 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.8% | Place: 52.1% | Value: 1.22x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.75 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Shuwaib (No.4) — $7.40 / $2.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.1% | Place: 45.0% | Value: 1.05x Steady since tip
Why Live place chance, but win value is marginal compared to No.5.
Roughie: Amsterdam Nights (No.10) — $11.00 / $2.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.19x Steady since tip
Why If they go off script and the pace doesn't test the closers properly, he can sneak in.
Race 4 – Benchmark Buses, Olney Does The Hard Work
Race type: Benchmark 56, 2050m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Devine Grunt and African Grey have pace advantage, Olney maps MIDFIELD while Stole Him and others are more "in it"
Punty read: 2050m benchmark races are where patience pays. Olney (No.4) is the one I want stalking with a proper cruising rhythm, because he's got enough fitness and class to hit the line without needing a miracle. Stole Him (No.7) is a live threat if the leaders set a reasonable tempo and he can grab the right spot. Staphani (No.6) is the type that might be sneaky late, while African Grey (No.11) is the rough chance if the race becomes a grind and she squeezes through.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Olney (No.4) — $3.75 / $1.57
Bet $10.50 Win, return $39.38
Prob 29.1% | Place: 59.9% | Value: 1.30x ▲3% since tip
Why MIDFIELD map, clear track fit, and the way the tempo shapes up, he's set for a peak timing run.
2. Stole Him (No.7) — $6.60 / $2.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.19x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.10 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Staphani (No.6) — $4.50 / $1.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Decent place profile, just not enough win value for me.
Roughie: African Grey (No.11) — $12.00 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.0% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 0.98x ▲18% since tip
Why If the race turns into a stop-start battle, she can jag a cheeky slice of the finish.
Race 5 – 1000m Chaos Handicaps, Don't Blink
Race type: Restricted 56, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, leaders include Rock Glory and Squazeemoto, but watch for early positioning skirmishes
Punty read: This one's a high-variance 1000. Bleak Mid Winter (No.1) has the map help and the gear change angle makes sense, plus the stable is showing intent with the chain and ear muffs going on. Irresistible Sir (No.2) is fast enough to be right there, Rock Glory (No.7) can be tough if the speed doesn't collapse, but the real trick is landing your bet where the race pattern doesn't punish you at the start.
Top 3 + Roughie ($6.00 pool)
1. Bleak Mid Winter (No.1) — $5.10 / $1.82
Bet $6.00 Each Way ($3.00W + $3.00P), return $15.30 (wins) / $5.46 (places)
Prob 20.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.23x Steady since tip
Why Map says ON-PACE, gear upgrades fit the sprint, and he's built to cash in the placings too.
2. Irresistible Sir (No.2) — $4.30 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.02x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Rock Glory (No.7) — $5.30 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.82x Steady since tip
Why Could place, but I'm not doubling the same risk profile.
Roughie: Adiuro (No.4) — $15.50 / $3.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.2% | Place: 24.1% | Value: 1.15x Steady since tip
Why If the leaders do too much and the gap opens at the perfect time, he can hit the line.
Race 6 – Restricted 1200m, Noble Style The Accountant
Race type: Restricted 56, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Ocean's Jen and Alpinova are advantaged, Noble Style maps ON-PACE, Frederick and Ruby Avenue are in the midfield mix
Punty read: Noble Style (No.8) is the one I want on the right side of the tempo. On this Good 4 rail-out, ON-PACE types that can avoid getting shuffled back usually get the right shot at the line. Frederick (No.2) has to be respected as the next best run, while Ruby Avenue can fill in if she gets a smoother trip than recent form suggests. Alpinova and Elly Dee are the "respect, but don't panic" types if the race breaks funny.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Noble Style (No.8) — $4.50 / $1.80
Bet $10.50 Win, return $47.25
Prob 22.0% | Place: 53.7% | Value: 1.21x ▲2% since tip
Why ON-PACE map on a track that rewards position, plus he's the type to keep giving when asked.
2. Frederick (No.2) — $6.60 / $2.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.9% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.00x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.20 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Ruby Avenue (No.1) — $6.60 / $2.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.7% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.91x Steady since tip
Why Needs a perfect run, and the win pool is better protected elsewhere.
Roughie: Elly Dee (No.7) — $9.60 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.0% | Place: 37.1% | Value: 1.26x Steady since tip
Why Can lift late if the midfield clogs and the leaders feel the pinch.
Race 7 – The Hcp Finale, Spirit Angel Anchor
Race type: Restricted 56, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, plenty of leaders early, Delightful Journey and Russian Roni are LEADER, Spirit Angel is MIDFIELD with the right "pounce" profile
Punty read: In the last race you want a horse that can play the position game without needing everything to fall perfectly. Spirit Angel (No.11) is that anchor, and she's priced like a proper chance to run into the finish without needing a miracle. Preservator (No.10) and Shubael (No.8) are the value-friendly threats in this hcp mess, especially if the pace doesn't go full stop-start chaos.
Then you've got Delightful Journey (No.1) as the roughie story, and if the leaders get tested in the run home, that Place bet path is exactly how these races turn into "how the hell did that happen" dividends.
Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)
1. Spirit Angel (No.11) — $2.66 / $1.37
Bet $8.50 Win, return $22.61
Prob 17.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.56x ▼2% since tip
Why The midfield trip suits, and this race shape looks friendly for a controlled run, then a sprint home.
2. Preservator (No.10) — $5.50 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.16x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.05 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Shubael (No.8) — $6.60 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.19x ▲23% since tip
Why Capable of a big run, but this is where I hold back and save coin.
Roughie: Delightful Journey (No.1) — $9.20 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.66x ▲6% since tip
Why The leaders set it up, she can hit the finish late, and Place is the sweet spot if the pace goes.
SEQUENCE LANES
Quaddie (R4–R7)
Smart: 4,7,6,11 / 2,1,7,4 / 8,1,2,7 / 11,10,8,1 (256 combos x $0.25 = $65.00) -- 25% flexi
Punty's take: Olney-Stole Him-Staphani is the backbone, but Race 5 is tight and Race 7 is wide open, so you're paying for entertainment and hoping for at least one proper payday winner.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Rail out 6m, but the real fight is tempo
With the rail out, it's easy to get seduced by wide runs early, tempo decides it, sprints punish slow starts and they reward position before the turn.
2 - Maiden value leans on the ON-PACE map runners
In Race 1, the forward map types are the ones that actually get to control the finish, the backmarker stories need a specific pace collapse, not just hope.
3 - One roughie is a Place bet for a reason
Delightful Journey in Race 7 is the kind of horse that can get into the right spot late without winning, Place lets you cash the "scramble finish" scenario.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
Don't overthink the card, chase the tempo, respect the map, and when the market goes feral, ask why it's doing that. Today's about being switched on early and ruthless late. Gamble Responsibly.
