R1
Midway (Bm72)
1300m · Benchmark 72; · 11:55
✗ MISS -$1 Final

Race type: Benchmark 72, 1300m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, wind helping runners who can sustain in the straight
Punty read: This one's a tactical mess in the best way. Better Late on the map is the kind of horse that travels into the race and just keeps going. Spacegirl is the danger from the right spot, and Vexxy is the "wait for the gaps" type at a price, because the race shape is built for it if things aren't too frantic.

Top 3 + Roughie ($16.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Better Late (No.7) — $2.29 / $1.25 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 34.0% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why gets the run in the on-pace lane, and with the wind up the straight, he's built to stick the landing.

2. Call Me Sassy (No.14) — $5.30 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.80x
Why A real chance — but at $1.95 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Miss Spacegirl (No.2) — $6.75 / $2.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.16x
Why she's a live runner and could clobber them late, but I'm keeping the stake focused on the safer structure.

Roughie: Vexxy (No.15) — $9.75 / $2.60 🏆 3RD
Bet $6.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$9.60
Prob 9.4% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.06x
Why drifted from the market, but her profile and form excuses leave the door open for a cheeky late run.

R2
TAB Highway Hcp (C2)
1500m · Class 2; · 12:30
✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Class 2, 1500m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with a bunch of pace-disadvantaged types in the mix
Punty read: This looks like a classic "who's actually in the right half of the track" race. Giddy Up Griff is right in the on-pace pocket and gets a genuine chance to take control. Zou Force is the danger if there's any slack in the tempo. Xtreme's the roughie because if the race steadies, he can ping late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Giddy Up Griff (No.6) — $5.70 / $2.15 🏆 10TH
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 29.5% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.64x
Why on pace, drawn to get position, and he looks like the exact kind of horse this wind helps at 1500m.

2. Zou Force (No.8) — $5.70 / $2.15 🏆 9TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Bluish Hue (No.5) — $2.72 / $1.32 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.43x
Why too short for what you need in a value game, even if he does have the right sort of class.

Roughie: Xtreme (No.3) — $7.40 / $2.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.27x
Why he's there for the trifecta dream if the pace breaks in the perfect place.

R3
Asahi Super Dry Colin Stephen Quality
2400m · Open; · 13:05
✓ WON +$32 Final

Race type: Open, 2400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, staying power does the talking
Punty read: This is the "one horse has the blueprint" kind of 2400m. So You Are looks set to put themselves into the race early and then grind late with no silly pace pressure. Bella Montagna is the obvious threat, but Amplify and the others need luck to go with the fitness.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. So You Are (No.1) — $3.10 / $1.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$31.50
Prob 47.5% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.33x
Why slow tempo usually suits a classy stayer, and he's built to be the one still walking in front at the line.

2. Bella Montagna (No.2) — $2.44 / $1.30 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.79x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Sam Hawkens (No.3) — $9.00 / $2.80 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.6% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 0.97x
Why could sneak a place if the race gets messy, but win is a stretch.

Roughie: Fernao (No.5) — $7.50 / $2.60 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 1.04x
Why he's the upside punt if everything falls into a late-tray scenario, but I'm not paying for fantasy.

R4
Toyota Forklifts (Bm88)
1900m · Benchmark 88; · 13:40
✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 88, 1900m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with a few leaders and a big staying finish
Punty read: At 1900m on a fair track, the leaders don't always get bulldozed. Starzintheireyes has the "I'm in range and I know what to do" profile, and Mukhtalif has the value-case if the race suits a strong run through the middle. Anthracite is the other one who can tack onto the finish like a boss.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Starzintheireyes (No.3) — $2.33 / $1.25 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 28.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.68x
Why on-speed profile and the 1900m tempo looks made for him to go again.

2. Mukhtalif (No.9) — $7.15 / $2.55 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.47x
Why A real chance — but at $2.55 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Anthracite (No.10) — $7.65 / $2.55 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.44x
Why similar story, can pick up ground late and make the trifecta chaos real.

Roughie: Pinhole (No.6) — $9.60 / $2.85 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.23x
Why if the crossovers and pockets open late, he can surprise while the market watches.

R5
Irresistible Pools & Spas (Bm88)
1400m · Benchmark 88; · 14:15
✗ MISS -$2 Final

Race type: Benchmark 88, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, plenty of room to run, wind assists sustainers
Punty read: Cross Tasman is the one to build around. Ruination looks like the class-and-pressure type, and Decorum is the kind of horse that can look unbeatable for 90% of the race. Mr Chaplin's the roughie because his resume says he can turn up at the business end when you least expect it.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Cross Tasman (No.3) — $5.00 / $1.75 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — Cashed, net -$1.62
Prob 28.9% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.33x
Why on pace, drawn into the right trip, and he looks like the likely first or second one to keep digging.

2. Ruination (No.11) — $7.90 / $2.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.47x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Decorum (No.6) — $1.93 / $1.14 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.53x
Why too short for value. He can win, but value is the game and he's not paying enough.

Roughie: Mr Chaplin (No.1) — $12.25 / $2.90 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.39x
Why roughie path is simple, get into the race clean and hit the line like he's late to a party.

R6

✓ WON +$13 Final

Race type: Open, 1100m
Map & tempo: Sprint, moderate tempo, leaders can live if they jump well
Punty read: Blue Door is the spreadsheet favourite for a reason, but today I'm talking about the racing. At 1100m, the best horse isn't the one with the best acceleration, it's the one that puts itself in the right place and keeps travelling. Omolong and Our Emperor are threats if the leaders get softened, but this looks like Blue Door's race to lose.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Blue Door (No.1) — $1.88 / $1.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$13.20
Prob 47.5% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why lead profile, short sprint where positioning wins fights, and he looks ready to hit the ground running.

2. Omolong (No.3) — $4.35 / $1.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.91x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Our Emperor (No.5) — $9.50 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.1% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.98x
Why needs everything to go right from the outside of the action.

Roughie: Ciaron's Star (No.7) — $11.00 / $2.60 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why the roughie threat is he finds the front late and holds on, classic sprint chaos.

✓ WON +$17 Final

Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so the tactical speed and sustain matters
Punty read: Lazzura is the one I want on top, because in slow races the best horse usually gets the perfect rhythm and then the rest chase like it's a streaming service buffering. Surfin' Bird is the main danger if she can get a sweet run and kick off early enough. Modella is there for the long-shot place run if the top two get into a slugfest.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Lazzura (No.1) — $2.14 / $1.30 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$17.10
Prob 45.1% | Place: 62.6% | Value: 1.08x
Why class and rhythm, and with a slow tempo, she's built to hit the turn and keep rolling.

2. Surfin' Bird (No.6) — $5.00 / $2.05 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.16x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Modella (No.8) — $5.95 / $2.45 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.5% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.89x
Why outside chance for a place, but not my win angle.

Roughie: Verona Rose (No.3) — $11.25 / $3.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 19.1% | Value: 0.79x
Why roughie path is to exploit a gap early, then hold on for the minor money.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders doing the work and closers get wind-assisted late
Punty read: Guest House is the main act and Warwoven is the antagonist who can still land in the top five but wants the pace to be real. St Gotthard is a value trap risk because he's talented, but the race shape says you want the ones that either hold ground or attack at the right time. Under Focus is your roughie if the field starts stringing out like a bad movie sequel.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Guest House (No.1) — $2.52 / $1.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 41.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why pace fit, class on the track, and he's the one most likely to be in the right spot when the wind helps the finish.

2. Warwoven (No.4) — $6.50 / $2.00 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.41x
Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. St Gotthard (No.5) — $4.10 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 59.4% | Value: 0.57x
Why the price makes it hard, even if the horse is capable of running well.

Roughie: Under Focus (No.9) — $12.75 / $3.10 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.34x

✓ WON +$10 Final

Race type: Open, 1500m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, tight contest expected with the best on-pacer ruling
Punty read: Skyhook is the speed engine, and Private Eye is the hard-chasing alternative who can capitalise if Skyhook does the wrong thing in front. Estadio Mestalla is a place chance if the leaders soften, but my money is on the rhythm and the gate doing their job.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Skyhook (No.2) — $1.75 / $1.08 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$9.75
Prob 50.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.90x
Why on-pacer in a race set up for him, and at this distance on Good 4, the lead is still a weapon.

Prob 4.4% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.88x

Punty read: Kimberley Secrets is the one to build around. Mercy Me is in the mix but feels like more of a place saver than a win story today. Farnicle is a danger on form and positioning. Royal Commodore is the roughie if the race opens up wide and the run home becomes a sprint.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Kimberley Secrets (No.2) — $5.50 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 23.8% | Place: 52.9% | Value: 1.30x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Rosehill on a Good 4 with a bit of wind stirring, so today feels like speed's meant to start the job and closers get to finish it off. The rail's True, the track's fair, and the tempo's more 'steady simmer' than 'screaming all-out'. Translation, you want to be on runners that can either hold position or sprint through the line when the air turns.

And yeah, you degens know I love a confident spine. So I'm putting the day on a Big 3 Multi with three horses that just line up for wins, then I'll walk you race-by-race with the Top 3 + a roughie in case the universe decides to get spicy.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Good 4, 1100m-2400m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play fair, mostly on-pace)
Weather: Becoming windy, mostly sunny, 25C, light E wind (watch for the gusts helping closers down the straight)
Early lane guess: Bias to on-pacers, with winners still running on if you're in range
Tempo profile: Moderate to slow depending on the race, with wind giving late momentum a slight edge
Jockeys to follow:
Jason Collett: consistent, and he lands on horses that actually want the job
Zac Lloyd: steady hands for positioning, especially when the map helps
Rachel King: if the race turns into a sit-sprint affair, she's always in the mix
Stables to respect:
John O'Shea & Tom Charlton (12 runners): they keep finding the right gear and timing
C J Waller (9 runners): when Waller gets a horse right, it's usually not a fling
G Waterhouse & A Bott (8 runners): they love setting up a clean run, even when the field's awkward

Punty's take:

Alright, Legends, Rosehill today is basically a track where the front can survive, but the finish can still bite. That E wind up the straight means the last 200m can feel like a different race, so I'm happy backing on-pacers that can actually keep doing something, not just "able to hold a spot".

I'm keying hard on races where the map says "they'll be within striking distance" and the market either backs it or underprices it. When you see a heavy drift on a horse that still profiles on speed, that's when the roughie can turn into a villain and snatch a cheque like it owes you money.

Also, watch for first-up, gear changes, and those "simple" sprint races where the best horse usually wins, but the wrong horse can absolutely make you sweat. We're not here to sweat. We're here to get paid, then pretend we're chill.

What it means for you:

Bet like the day is a sit-and-strike carnival. Be aggressive when the horse is genuinely placed for the run, not just short because everyone's bored. In the feature-ish open races (Quality and the Golden Pendant style stuff), the winner is usually the one that controls the rhythm or has the best sustained pressure.

Strategy-wise, I'm leaning into Win when the race shapes up like a natural fit, and I'm going Place when the map says "position matters but traffic can ruin your head-to-head." The roughies are there for one job only, if the pace collapses or a runner finds a pocket, you'll be holding the ticket while the crowd blinks.
