Rightio Legends, eight races, 101 runners and a Good 4 track that is ready to be read properly, so grab a coffee, sharpen the pencil and let's get into it.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Coonabarabran, 900m to 1600m card
Rail: True (no rail position note given)
Official going: Good 4
Weather: Overcast, gusts 14.8km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: R1 Hot Pace, R2 Slow Pace, R3 Moderate Pace, R4 Moderate Pace, R5 Moderate Pace, R6 Hot Pace, R7 Genuine Pace, R8 Moderate Pace
Jockeys to follow:
Jacob Stiff: Seven rides on the card, including Blazing Courage in Race 1 (Map LEADER) and first-up Trapeazy in Race 4. Plenty of boots in the day, so watch where he puts them.
Clayton Gallagher: Six rides, and he has Mia Amore in Race 1 with a J@trk strike rate of 15.3% (663/4342), the best of the jockeys putting a horse in the Race 1 top three. He is also on Comongin in Race 8.
Mikayla Weir: Seven rides, including Little Bubbles in Race 1 and Noble One in Race 2, both coming off the back of a 2kg rise in the weights for Little Bubbles.
Stables to respect:
Connie Greig (8 runners): Eight runners on the card, including Paper Doll in Race 4, who has nine seconds from 13 starts and no wins, so she's knocking on the door all day.
Kieren Hazelton (6 runners): Six runners, with Zoysia in Race 4 and Marnoo in Race 3, and Marnoo is 4-1-2 from 21 starts.
Ms J Clement (6 runners): Six runners, including Castlebar Road in Race 6 (10-7-4 from 47 starts) and Macleay in Race 7 (9-9-9 from 75 starts).

Punty's take: The speed sits up front in the sprints, so the Race 1 and Race 6 pace setups are the ones to think about. In Race 1 there are four leaders in Boioboi, Miss Strategic, Blazing Courage and Mia Amore, which makes it a proper hot pace and a fight for the lead before the first bend. Race 6 is the same story with Castlebar Road, Gold Lover and Glowing Rapids all wanting to lead, so anyone stalking them is going to have to work for it. Race 2 is the opposite, a slow pace with Delrico, Coella and Ichika all dropping in the back half, which is a tricky one for the front-runners to hold off. Race 7 has a lone leader in Zou Big Boy, so he gets to set the tempo whichever way he likes. Connie Greig has the most runners today, and the stable numbers are worth a look because eight runners is a lot of bullets to fire at a 900m to 1600m card.

What it means for you: My game plan is simple. Race 1 is the place to be aggressive on the win side with Fratianno, because he is the one getting the most market respect and the map gives him a clean run at a hot pace. Race 7 is the other one that wants your money because Hammoon Sensation has the best numbers on the card and is the banker-type you'd like to be on. Race 2 and Race 5 are the ones where I'm protecting the stake, with a few value runners in each, and I don't want to chase those prices with heavy outlay. Chaos rules Race 3, Race 4 and Race 8, so keep those tickets tight, use the each-way where it's offered, and be happy to take a few places rather than swinging wildly on the win.

PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI

These are the three bets the day leans on.

1 - Fratianno (Race 1, No.2) — $2.50
Why Market firming from $2.90 to $2.50 and he has been the most consistent placegetter in the race with 7 seconds and 4 thirds from 22 starts, so he's the first leg I trust.

2 - Hammoon Sensation (Race 7, No.4) — $2.25
Why 4 wins from 8 on good with a Rosehill win last start, the cleanest profile in a race where nothing else is close on the numbers.

3 - Mister Bianco (Race 6, No.1) — $3.70
Why Seven wins from 26 starts and the one stalker on a hot pace who will be ready to pounce when the leaders run out of petrol.

Multi (all three to win): $10 × 20.81 = $208.10

RACE-BY-RACE

Race 1 – Coonabarabran Bakery Country Boosted Mdn Showcase Plate

Race type: Maiden, 900m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace. LEADER: Boioboi, Miss Strategic, Blazing Courage, Mia Amore. ON-PACE: Nodefence, Ona Bivvy, Little Bubbles. MIDFIELD: Fratianno. UNKNOWN: Haveaniceday, who claims no position.
Punty read: Fratianno (No.2) is the bet here. Win $15.00, and I'm happy to be on him. He's 0 wins from 22 starts, but he has placed seven times second and four times third, and his last three runs read 4th, 3rd and 2nd at Port Macquarie and Moree. He's a MIDFIELD runner in a race where four leaders will go hard early, so he gets to sit and wait while the speed collapses in front of him. The market is moving his way, from $2.90 to $2.50, and his L400 is the fastest in the race. Haveaniceday is the one I'd keep an eye on at $3.00 with no map position claimed, and Mia Amore is a danger from the front with the best jockey strike rate on the card at this track. I'm not in on Mia Amore at this price, but she's the one who can make the leaders work.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Fratianno (No.2) — $2.50 / $1.15
Bet $15.00 Win, return $37.50
Prob 40.6% | Place: 65.4% | Value: 1.02x Steady since tip
Why The best horse in the race on the numbers, a midfield runner in a hot-pace maiden, and the market is backing him in. Place price is short, but the win is where the value is.

2. Haveaniceday (No.8) — $3.00 / $1.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.0% | Place: 59.1% | Value: 0.60x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.30 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Mia Amore (No.9) — $6.00 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.03x Steady since tip
Why A LEADER who is 1-0-0 from one career start and a jockey with a 15.3% strike rate at this track, a real danger, but $1.80 for a place doesn't pay me enough.

Roughie: Little Bubbles (No.5) — $10.00 / $2.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.8% | Place: 31.8% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why If the leaders burn each other out, she is a sit-and-run ON-PACE horse who has finished 4th at Muswellbrook after a slow start, so there is a path, but I'm not spending on it today.

Race 2 – Barron's Tyre And Mechanical Showcase Hcp (C3)

Race type: Class 3, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace. ON-PACE: Talakai, Firestorm Boy. MIDFIELD: Delrico, Easy Trapezee, Bobotov. BACKMARKER: Noble One, Mariota, Coella, Ichika.
Punty read: Talakai (No.3) is the bet here. Win $5.00. He's ON-PACE in a slow-run race, which means he gets to sit on the speed and kick. Career form reads 3-3-3 from 21 starts, with 2-1-1 over 1600m and 2-2-1 on good, and the stable and jockey combo of Clayton Gallagher and Brett Robb is 23.8% from 483 rides together. He's the one who can take the race from a stalking spot. The danger is the backmarker crew, Coella and Noble One, who both have decent finishing form, and Coella is a value play at $9.00 with place numbers that make her a good roughie. Mariota is 0 wins from 7 at 58-68kg, so the weight is a real worry for him.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.00 pool)

1. Talakai (No.3) — $2.75 / $1.32
Bet $5.00 Win, return $13.75
Prob 21.1% | Place: 56.5% | Value: 0.58x Steady since tip
Why The on-pace horse in a slow-run race with the best strike rate with Gallagher, and the most dependable profile in the field.

2. Easy Trapezee (No.5) — $6.00 / $1.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.0% | Place: 50.8% | Value: 1.02x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.85 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Mariota (No.4) — $5.50 / $1.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.75x Steady since tip
Why A BACKMARKER who has never been a winner at 58-68kg, with 0 wins from 7 at that weight, and the place price doesn't reward him.

Roughie: Coella (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.60
Bet $3.00 Place, return $7.80
Prob 8.7% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why A BACKMARKER who finishes off the pace in a slow race, so the slow tempo gives her the chance to swoop if the leaders hang on too long. Her weight form is a warning, so this is a place only play.

Race 3 – Edwards Air Conditioning And Refrigeration & Daikin Showcase (Bm66)

Race type: Benchmark 66, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace. ON-PACE: Marnoo, Slush Fund, The Great Armada, Corpsman is a BACKMARKER. MIDFIELD: To Be Frank, Moon Zone. BACKMARKER: News Bound, The Bentley, Tiger Town, Shipshape, Corpsman. Snitzenegger is ON-PACE with no jockey listed.
Punty read: Moon Zone (No.7) is the bet here. Win $10.00. He's MIDFIELD in a moderate pace, which means he sits outside the speed and gets a clean run into the straight. Dist 8:3-2-1 and Good 11:2-2-1 are the numbers I like, and his last start was a 3rd at Coonamble, backed by a 1st at Dubbo. Zoe Hunt rides him and she's 12% at this track from 332 rides with Ms C Lundholm. Marnoo is the one who can take the lead from the on-pace spot with a 4-1-2 record from 21 starts. Shipshape is the tricky one from the back with a 1-0-0... wait, no, his record is 2-4-5 from 38 starts, and he is the value horse in the eyes of the market move. Keep him in the mix.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)

1. Moon Zone (No.7) — $5.00 / $1.95
Bet $10.00 Win, return $50.00
Prob 18.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.93x Steady since tip
Why A midfield runner in a moderate race with 3 wins from 8 at 1400m or further, and a steady stalker who doesn't need the pace to fall apart.

2. Marnoo (No.1) — $5.00 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.95 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Shipshape (No.9) — $7.50 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.10x Steady since tip
Why A BACKMARKER with a sharp last-start line at Tamworth, and a 1-in-the-top-three hit rate that sits better in exotics than on its own.

Roughie: Tiger Town (No.8) — $17.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.3% | Place: 17.8% | Value: 0.56x Steady since tip
Why A BACKMARKER from the back of the pack, and if the pace gets soft at the top he can run on. His last start was a bump-and-hamper at Moree, so there's a reason to think he has bad luck built in.

Race 4 – Phong Nguyen Memorial Super Mdn Hcp

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace. ON-PACE: Comradeship, Dirty Dani, Nanotaq, Hijack is BACKMARKER. MIDFIELD: Paper Doll, Zoysia, Hollywood Hunk, Overshoot, Classified Mission, Trapeazy. BACKMARKER: Little Duke, Graffi, Miss Maverick, Life Statement, Hijack. UNKNOWN: My Smurf, who claims no position.
Punty read: Comradeship (No.4) is the bet here. Each Way $15.00 ($7.50W + $7.50P), and the each-way is the call. He's an ON-PACE runner in a moderate pace, which gives him the cover to sit near the speed and close. His record is only 5 starts with one third, so I'm not pretending he's a sure thing, but the place is the real play at $2.25 with 58.6% place chance. Paper Doll is the horse I'm most worried about, a MIDFIELD runner with nine seconds from 13 starts and 0 wins, which is a bridesmaid in a maiden. Dirty Dani has finished 2nd twice on her last starts, so she is the danger from the front. The market has been moving on several of these, but I can't see a clear cause for it.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Comradeship (No.4) — $6.00 / $2.25
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $61.88 if it wins ($45.00 win + $16.88 place), $16.88 if it only places
Prob 17.7% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 1.06x Steady since tip
Why An ON-PACE runner in a moderate maiden, and the place is the value side of a race where the wins are scattered.

2. Paper Doll (No.1) — $3.90 / $1.72
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Dirty Dani (No.5) — $5.00 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why Two seconds in her last starts at Newcastle and Beaumont and an ON-PACE map spot, so she's the danger from the front that the top pick already has to cover.

Roughie: Miss Maverick (No.12) — $11.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why A BACKMARKER with six seconds from 29 starts. If the pace falls apart, she closes into a place, but a win is a long shot.

Race 5 – Bowman Racing Showcase Hcp (C1)

Race type: Class 1, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace. ON-PACE: Jagerschnitzel, Miners Mate, Captain Insano, Tsarina Diamonds. MIDFIELD: Russian Escape, Midnight In Minori, Justo's Rocket, Velocette, Bit Of A Step. BACKMARKER: Street Skater is ON-PACE. BACKMARKER: Manaftermidnight, Purple Prince, Cooly Rocks, South Eight.
Punty read: Jagerschnitzel (No.2) is the bet here. Win $13.00. He's the ON-PACE horse in a moderate race with the best profile in the field, 1-5-5 from 18 starts and 1-3-3 on good. His combo with Nick Heywood is 27.3% from 33 rides, which is the strongest rider-trainer link I can see. He's just dropped the cross-over nose band, so the gear change is worth watching. The threats are Russian Escape from the midfield, with a 1-1-1 on good, and Miners Mate, who has been drifting in the market from $5.00 out to $6.00.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Jagerschnitzel (No.2) — $4.50 / $1.90
Bet $13.00 Win, return $58.50
Prob 20.4% | Place: 57.2% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why The best horse in the Class 1 field on the numbers, with a 4th at Tamworth last start and his best going on good ground, so he has the form to win again.

2. Russian Escape (No.3) — $6.00 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Miners Mate (No.4) — $6.00 / $2.25
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.91x Steady since tip
Why 1-3-1 from nine starts and a 2nd at Armidale last start, but the market has drifted him from $5.00 to $6.00 and the place price doesn't reward it.

Roughie: Justo's Rocket (No.9) — $11.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 30.1% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why A MIDFIELD horse with a 2nd at Narromine last start and a 1-0-0 record at Track, and the market has come in from $19.00 to $11.00, so he's the one who can run them down if the front pair stall.

Race 6 – Northwest Equestrian Expo Cup Day Showcase Sprint

Race type: Open, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace. LEADER: Castlebar Road, Gold Lover, Glowing Rapids. ON-PACE: Mister Bianco, All In The Mind is MIDFIELD, Knife's Edge, Vierville, Crook. MIDFIELD: All In The Mind, Dis Is Heaven, Fetes Des Meres, Smart And Dapper, Divine Sinner. BACKMARKER: Jet Empress. UNKNOWN: Ilikesooboogie, who claims no position.
Punty read: Mister Bianco (No.1) is the bet here. Win $15.00. He's an ON-PACE runner in a hot sprint, which puts him right where he wants to be behind three leaders who will go hard. His record is 7-3-3 from 26 starts, with 4-1-2 on good and 4-2-1 from second-up starts. The last three runs read 3rd, 1st and 4th, and he's up 4kg from his last start, which is a bit of a worry but a 3rd at Port Macquarie is good enough. Crook is the one who will race with him from the stalking spot, and Vierville is a value runner from the ON-PACE spot. Castlebar Road is the speed to watch in front.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Mister Bianco (No.1) — $3.70 / $1.65
Bet $15.00 Win, return $55.50
Prob 23.4% | Place: 47.5% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why The most consistent horse in a hot-pace sprint, sitting one off the speed with the best profile on the card at this trip.

2. Crook (No.8) — $3.90 / $1.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.62x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.70 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Vierville (No.11) — $6.50 / $2.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why 6-0-0 from 19 starts and a 2-0-0 record first-up. Tongue tie is off again, but the place price doesn't reflect his chance.

Roughie: Dis Is Heaven (No.5) — $10.00 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why A MIDFIELD runner with a 1-0-1 record over 5 sprint starts. In a race that's going to be fast up front, he can come from the back.

Race 7 – Imperial Hotel Coonabarabran Showcase Cup

Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace. LEADER: Zou Big Boy. ON-PACE: Hammoon Sensation, Hibiki Harmony, Egyptologist. MIDFIELD: Micro Mikki, Taipan Legend, Macleay, Alabama Blitz, Talkachino. BACKMARKER: Night Fighter, Shadow Dane, Kaihoko.
Punty read: Hammoon Sensation (No.4) is the bet here. Win $13.00. He's an ON-PACE runner in a genuine-pace race, sitting one off Zou Big Boy's pace, which gives him every chance to win from the front. His record is 4-1-3 from 12 starts, with 4-0-0 on good, and his last start was a win at Rosehill, 1st of 13 by 0.7L. He's 0-2 at 59-60kg though, so the weight is the only mark against him. Egyptologist is the danger from ON-PACE with winkers off first time, and Micro Mikki is the midfielder who loves to come late. The market is at $2.25 so I'm happy to play him straight.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Hammoon Sensation (No.4) — $2.25 / $1.25
Bet $13.00 Win, return $29.25
Prob 32.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why 4 wins from 8 on good, the most dependable profile in an open 1600m race that's missing a real stayer on the front.

2. Micro Mikki (No.1) — $6.50 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.90x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.35 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Taipan Legend (No.2) — $7.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why 6-6-2 from 33 starts, and he's a MIDFIELD runner who can finish. The place price doesn't reward his chance here.

Roughie: Kaihoko (No.8) — $9.00 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.85x Steady since tip
Why A BACKMARKER who finished 3rd at Port Macquarie last start. He needs the front pair to go hard, so he's one to watch rather than back.

Race 8 – Reggies Tattersalls Hotel Baradine & Pursehouse Coonabarabran Country Boosted Showcase Plate (C2)

Race type: Class 2, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace. ON-PACE: Blue De Beers, Breukelen, Comongin, Marvel Man, Mega Pixel, Star Whisperer, Fearn Trick, Vicious Rumour, Spring Prospect, Belrose Express. MIDFIELD: Age Of Aquarius, Olufsen, Quasimoto, Deodee, Supreme Style.
Punty read: Comongin (No.4) is the bet here. Each Way $10.50 ($5.25W + $5.25P). He's an ON-PACE runner in a moderate race with a 2-3-2 record from 8 starts, and he's the best-value horse on the card in this grade. His last start was a 4th at Tamworth with a 5.2L margin, and his combo with Clayton Gallagher is 23.8% from 483 rides. He's up 4kg on his last start, which is a concern, but the place chance is strong enough for an each-way. Marvel Man is the danger with the shortest price on the card at $4.20, and he has a tongue tie on for the first time. Vicious Rumour is the value runner who is 2-5-2 from 14 starts.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Comongin (No.4) — $5.00 / $2.00
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $36.75 if it wins ($26.25 win + $10.50 place), $10.50 if it only places
Prob 18.4% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why A good stalker in a moderate race and the best each-way proposition on the card at this grade.

2. Marvel Man (No.5) — $4.20 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.9% | Place: 52.0% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Vicious Rumour (No.13) — $9.50 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 45.1% | Value: 0.96x Steady since tip
Why 2-5-2 from 14 starts and a 1st at Orange last start, with the place value covered by the top pick.

Roughie: Fearn Trick (No.11) — $14.00 / $3.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 34.4% | Value: 1.17x Steady since tip
Why A 1st-up 2-0-0 record and a 1st at Wellington last start, so the form is there, but he finished 13th at Dubbo and I don't want to buy him for the win.

SEQUENCE LANES

EARLY QUADDIE (R1–R4)

Smart: 2,8,9 / 3,5,4,6 / 7,9,1 / 1,4,5,12 (144 combos x $0.3472 = $50.00) -- 34.7% flexi
Punty's take: Race 1 is tight with Fratianno leading the way, while Race 2 and Race 3 are open enough to run through. Race 4 is the wide-open one. The flexi floor is 30%, and at 33.9% this is a solid play for the Early Quaddie.

QUADDIE (R5–R8)

Smart: 2,4,3,9 / 1,8,11,5 / 4,1,2 / 4,5,13,11 (192 combos x $0.33854 = $65.00) -- 33.9% flexi
Punty's take: Race 5 and Race 6 are the ones with some structure, while Race 7 is the banker and Race 8 is open. The flexi floor is 30%, and 33.9% gives us the right balance.

BIG 6 (R3–R8)

Smart: 7,9,1,3 / 1,4,5,12 / 2,4,3,9 / 1,8,11,5 / 4,1,2,8 / 4,5,13,11 (4096 combos x $0.00122 = $5.00) -- 0.12% flexi
Punty's take: This is an entertainment-only ticket. Five of the six legs are open, so the odds are huge but the hit rate is low. Keep it small, bank the fun, and don't expect it to pay in practice.

NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK

1 - Winkers come off first time
Egyptologist (Race 7, No.11) has winkers off for the first time today, and he has 4-3-2 from 18 career starts. Watch how he settles from the ON-PACE spot.

2 - Four wins from eight on good
Hammoon Sensation (Race 7, No.4) has 4-0-0 from 8 starts on good, and he has won his last start at Rosehill. That's the kind of record that makes him the banker in the race.

3 - The bridesmaid of Race 4
Paper Doll (Race 4, No.1) has nine seconds from 13 starts and no wins. He's the ultimate bridesmaid, and I'm not sure he's ever going to be the bride.

FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY

Keep your stakes sensible, your each-ways honest, and your mates close enough to tell you when you're chasing. Good luck to the Legends, and may the Race 7 favourite not be the one who stops you from cashing out.
