Rightio Ticket Munchers, Moree is on a Soft 7 with fine weather and eight races from 950m to 1600m. The speed is thin on most of this card, so the early leaders will tell us a lot, and the bankers are fewer than the form guide would like you to believe. Get your tickets sorted, read the map, and don't chase.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Moree, 950m to 1600m card
Rail: True (no rail position given in the data)
Official going: Soft 7 (Nil last 24hrs, 25mm last 7 days)
Weather: Fine, live gusts 20.4km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Genuine pace in Races 1, 7 and 8, moderate pace in Races 2 to 6. Only Race 1 has a lone leader running uncontested, and Race 5 has two fighting for the front.
Jockeys to follow:
Ben Looker: Seven rides today, and he's on the best-backed pick in Race 1 (Points For Effort) plus Always A Rainbow in Race 2 and Bundoran in Race 3. His stats at this track are 12.6% (1120/8875) with a 17% strike rate over the last 100 rides.
Jake Pracey-Holmes: Seven rides, including Moon Dart in Race 3 and Denman Bandit in Race 8, where he leads uncontested. He's 9.6% (613/6385) at this track.
Gabrielle Johnston: Six rides, including Peregrina Pearl in Race 8. Her 13.4% (53/397) strike rate at this track is good, and she has a 100% (1/1) record with Melissa Dennett's stable.
Stables to respect:
Brett Thompson (8 runners): Denman Bandit has the Race 8 lead and King Kookabaa is in Race 3. The stable runs 10.2% (367/3594) at this track.
Sally Torrens (7 runners): Orsum in Race 6 and Gold Smiles in Race 5 are the main ones, and the stable has 5.5% (87/1583) at this track.
Ridge Wilson (6 runners): Bundoran is our Race 3 pick and it's the one I'd keep an eye on, with the stable running 14.1% (48/341) at this track.

Punty's take: This card has a real split personality. Race 1 has one horse, Shooting For Joy, who can lead without a fight, and Race 7 and Race 8 both have a single leader in a genuine pace. Race 5 is the only race where two runners want the front, with Zou Big Boy and Think Back both mapped to lead. Races 2 to 6 are moderate, which suits the horses coming from off the pace, and it means the leaders will need to be backed with some care.

The bankers on paper are Race 4, where Post Mark is the only horse that really stands out on the map and the market, and Race 3, where Bundoran has the strongest profile of any horse in the first half. Race 7 and Race 8 are the chaos races, with the genuine pace and a lot of runners at big prices. Race 5 and Race 6 sit in between: the favourites are short, but the pace shape is open enough to let a value runner sneak through.

What it means for you: Be aggressive in Race 4 and Race 3, where the bets are on the strongest runners on the card. Protect yourself in Race 1 and Race 2 with the bets we've locked, because the rest of the field is either too short to back or too exposed to the pace. Race 7 and Race 8 are where the roughies live, so keep the stakes there tight and let the tickets do the work. The value on this card sits with the horses coming from off the speed in the moderate races, and the locked bets follow that read.

PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI

These are the three bets the day leans on.

1 - Post Mark (Race 4, No.12) — $2.20
Why Only one start but it finished second latest at Muswellbrook, the sectionals are clean, and the moderate pace in this 1400m maiden sets up for a horse that sits midfield from barrier 2.
2 - Bundoran (Race 3, No.2) — $3.20
Why The best-rated horse in a moderate 1200m maiden, sitting midfield from barrier 6 with a 3rd at Tamworth 1200m latest. The first win has to come sooner or later.
3 - Always A Rainbow (Race 2, No.2) — $2.35
Why Sits midfield from barrier 4 in a moderate 1600m with the shape helping it, and it's been close all prep with the best soft record in the field.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 16.54 = $165.40

Race 1 – McGowan AC & Electrical & Geoff Peachey Mdn Plate

Race type: Maiden, 950m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace on paper, with Shooting For Joy the lone leader from barrier 7 and nobody pressing it hard. Points For Effort and Commedia both sit handy, and the shape suits the handy horses here, so the back-markers have a lot of ground to make up. Long Live and Commedia are both drawn wide, which costs them ground.
Punty read: Points For Effort is the bet, and I like it because it sits handy from barrier 5 with the shape on its side and Ben Looker on board. The gear changes (Equicast, Norton bit and tongue tie all off first time) are a question mark, but they're a fresh look for a horse that's done enough to be in the mix. Commedia is the danger at $4.60 with Ashley Butler on board, and Tease The Breeze is the one with the strongest place claim, but neither is getting my money today. Little Bubbles is the roughie that only pays if the leader gets run down.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Points For Effort (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.65
Bet $15.00 Win, return $63.00
Prob 19.9% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why Ben Looker is at 12.6% at this track and sits handy from barrier 5, where the shape suits it. Ballarat Synthetic 3rd latest is a clean line, and it's 81 days since its last run, so the first-up record of 3:0-0-0 needs watching.
2. Commedia (No.5) — $4.60 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 50.2% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.80 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Tease The Breeze (No.12) — $4.20 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why Mikayla Weir and S I Singleton combine for a 19.1% strike rate (42/220). The extended form shows three runs at 4th, so it's consistent without quite getting there.

Roughie: Little Bubbles (No.6) — $11.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Soft 6 with 0-0-1 is no winner on soft, but the 4th at Muswellbrook came from a slow start, and if the leader gets run down it could finish with a run.

Race 2 – Allan Sutton Builders & Joinery Hcp (C2)

Race type: Class 2, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with nobody mapping to lead, so the front will be fought over by the likely pacesetters Surpasser, Lecan and Venturous. Always A Rainbow sits midfield from barrier 4 and I'm Nelson and Tralee, from the back, both get the shape. Venturous is drawn wide and has to work to cross, and Abraham and Pappiana are back-half runners that need cover.
Punty read: Always A Rainbow is the bet at $2.35. It's short but it has the shape, the soft record (two wins from three) and Ben Looker on board, so I'm happy to play it. I'm Nelson is the danger from the back and is hard to dismiss with the moderate pace and its back-half shape. Endless Applause is the one I'd keep on the watch list. Surpasser is the roughie that gets the speed if the race stays slow.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)

1. Always A Rainbow (No.2) — $2.60 / $1.15
Bet $8.50 Win, return $22.10
Prob 24.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.64x Steady since tip
Why Ben Looker is in the saddle, it's midfield from barrier 4, and two wins from three on soft tells you it handles this ground. The 7th at Eagle Farm was a slow start, so it's been fired up.
2. I'm Nelson (No.3) — $3.50 / $1.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.0% | Place: 59.5% | Value: 0.73x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Endless Applause (No.6) — $4.60 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.56x Steady since tip
Why Mikayla Weir is at 8.1% at this track and it's two wins from four on soft. It ran 4th at Port Macquarie 1800m latest and that's the kind of run you want.

Roughie: Surpasser (No.5) — $26.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.3% | Place: 16.7% | Value: 0.60x Steady since tip
Why It maps to sit on the speed from barrier 8 and Gabrielle Johnston is 13.4% at this track. If the moderate pace becomes a genuine one up front, it's got the ground and the distance to run late.

Race 3 – Dennis Sayers Fencing Country Boosted Mdn Hcp

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with a group of forward runners drawn in the middle of the field, so nobody is going to get a clear run. Diacceto is the horse that gets the shape help from the back half. Fiery Bee is drawn wide and must work to cross, and The Last Romanov and Totally Underrated both want to sit on the speed.
Punty read: Bundoran is the bet at $3.20. It's a horse that runs well over this ground, with three placings at 1200m, and Ben Looker is in the saddle. The danger is Diacceto, a horse that has run into traffic three times, and Totally Underrated, which has been placing consistently at the track. Moon Dart is the roughie with gear changes that could matter.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Bundoran (No.2) — $3.20 / $1.40
Bet $15.00 Win, return $48.00
Prob 26.5% | Place: 54.2% | Value: 0.85x Steady since tip
Why No wins from 14 starts is the honest line, but it has four seconds and five thirds, and Dist 3:0-0-2 and Soft 6:0-1-2 show it's close every time. The 3rd at Tamworth 1200m latest is the best of its recent form.
2. Diacceto (No.3) — $3.90 / $1.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.2% | Place: 52.1% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.57 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Totally Underrated (No.9) — $5.50 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.7% | Place: 45.2% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Daniel Smith rides it and it's been placing without winning. The 5th at Tamworth 1200m latest and the 2nd at Armidale 1100m make it a near thing each time.

Roughie: Moon Dart (No.1) — $9.00 / $2.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers off, cross-over nose band off and visors on, all first time today. Its 2nd at Narromine 1100m latest suggests the change could be the spark.

Race 4 – David Marshall Plumbing Mdn Plate

Race type: Maiden, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with Freeman Fury the most likely early leader from barrier 3, and Siva Tau and Zouman wanting the speed from the outside. Post Mark sits midfield from barrier 2 and the shape suits it. Akuma, Hard Shell and Silver Dream all want to be midfield or back, which is a good match for a moderate pace.
Punty read: Post Mark is the bet at $2.20. It's the strongest horse on the card on the numbers and it's had a second and a good sectional profile to back it. Mega Missile is the danger at $12.00, and Dekka's Latest at $8.00 is the one I'd keep a close eye on. Siva Tau is the roughie with the gear change.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Post Mark (No.12) — $2.20 / $1.30
Bet $13.00 Win, return $28.60
Prob 36.5% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Izzy Neale is at 12.6% at this track and the combo with S I Singleton is 24.4% (11/45). The 2nd at Muswellbrook 1280m latest is a fast line, and the sectionals show it's got the speed to fire late.
2. Mega Missile (No.11) — $13.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 1.20x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $3.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Dekka's Latest (No.2) — $8.00 / $2.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 34.8% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why It ran 3rd at Muswellbrook 1280m latest and its L400 sectional is the fastest in the field. Zac Wadick is riding.

Roughie: Siva Tau (No.7) — $12.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.5% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.02x Steady since tip
Why It's 210 days off the track, and the blinkers and Norton bit both come off first time. The map has it on the speed and the moderate pace suits it, so if the leader fades it can finish with a run.

Race 5 – Squires Constructions Country Boosted (Bm58)

Race type: Benchmark 58, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with two horses fighting for the front. Zou Big Boy from barrier 7 and Think Back from barrier 1 both want to lead, and the fight will shape the race. More Cash sits midfield from barrier 3 and Shadow Shot, Johnny Boz and Commander Meroo all get the back-half shape.
Punty read: More Cash is the bet, with an each-way on it because the place price is good. Ashley Butler is on board and the price has firmed from $4.20 to $3.50. Think Back is the danger on the speed, but it's been carrying the penalty for a leader with a pace disadvantage. Zou Big Boy is also a danger after its drift from $6.00 to $8.40.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. More Cash (No.2) — $3.50 / $1.57
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $26.62 if it wins ($18.38 win + $8.24 place), $8.24 if it only places
Prob 22.9% | Place: 51.8% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Dist 8:2-0-0 and Track 2:1-0-0 show it's a winner at this trip and track. The last-start 12th at Dubbo was held up, and the Inverell win since then is the best line in the race.
2. Think Back (No.5) — $2.74 / $1.37
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.1% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 0.61x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Zou Big Boy (No.1) — $9.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.9% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.98x Steady since tip
Why Four wins from 28 starts, with a soft record of 1-2-1 from nine. It leads from barrier 7, and the drift from $6.00 tells me the market is less keen.

Roughie: Blazed Prince (No.8) — $10.00 / $2.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.01x Steady since tip
Why It's midfield from barrier 4 and the moderate pace gives it cover. The 3rd at Tamworth 1400m latest and the 1st at Tamworth 1600m earlier show it can finish off a good run.

Race 6 – Moree Aluminium & Glass (Bm66)

Race type: Benchmark 66, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with a lot of forward runners and no one who maps to dominate. He's My Warrior and Irama both sit on the speed, and Panta Rhei is the other on-pace runner from barrier 1. Evocator is the only horse the shape helps clearly, and Minimal is drawn wide and has to work to cross.
Punty read: He's My Warrior is the bet with an each-way, because the place price is strong and the middle of the field isn't deep. Panta Rhei is the danger at $2.90, with its 1st at Scone 1200m on the record. Olufsen is the one I'd keep on the watch list, and Master Gee at $15.00 is the roughie.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.50 pool)

1. He's My Warrior (No.2) — $4.60 / $1.70
Bet $11.50 Each Way ($5.75W + $5.75P), collects $36.23 if it wins ($26.45 win + $9.78 place), $9.78 if it only places
Prob 20.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.94x Steady since tip
Why Juliet Partridge rides it from barrier 3 on the speed. It has three seconds and three thirds on soft from 14 starts and the 3rd at Tamworth 1200m latest is the best of its work.
2. Panta Rhei (No.5) — $2.90 / $1.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.50x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Olufsen (No.4) — $8.50 / $2.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.2% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why It won at Barraba 1220m and ran 3rd at Tamworth 1000m latest. Jacob Stiff rides and it sits midfield from barrier 5.

Roughie: Master Gee (No.11) — $15.00 / $3.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.0% | Place: 22.3% | Value: 0.75x Steady since tip
Why It's 1-3-0 at the distance with 11 starts, and Nick Palmer rides from barrier 7. The weight record is a warning (0/9 at 58-61kg) so it needs to get home on its own form.

Race 7 – PWD Plumbing & Heffernan Electrical Hcp (C1)

Race type: Class 1, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Captain Insano the lone leader from barrier 1, and it has a pace disadvantage at 0.81. Penciller sits handy from barrier 6 and the shape helps it. Burning Ambition and Tampa Bay sit midfield, and Tampa Bay is the one that could come from the back if the leader is run down.
Punty read: Penciller is the bet with an each-way. Blinkers come off first time and it's 1-3-0 from seven, with Kody Nestor in the saddle and the stable at 15.7% at this track. The 5th at Dubbo was interference, so it's been unlucky. Burning Ambition is the danger from midfield with the price firming, and Revamped is the first-up runner with four gear changes.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Penciller (No.2) — $3.90 / $1.65
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $29.14 if it wins ($20.48 win + $8.66 place), $8.66 if it only places
Prob 20.5% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Kody Nestor is at 10.8% at this track, and the blinkers come off first time. The soft record is 0-1-0 from two, and the weight record shows 1/4 at 56-58kg, which is the flag I'd watch.
2. Burning Ambition (No.4) — $2.90 / $1.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.38x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Revamped (No.1) — $9.00 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why Daniel Smith rides and it's got four gear changes today (cross-over nose band off, lugging bit off, nasal strip on, tongue tie on). The 1st at Newcastle 1250m is the best line on its form.

Roughie: Tampa Bay (No.6) — $10.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why It's 12kg lighter than last start, won at Young 1100m and Come By Chance 1200m, and the 4th at Harden was a slow start. From midfield it only needs the leader to fade.

Race 8 – Hutchinson Builders (Bm66)

Race type: Benchmark 66, 950m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Denman Bandit the lone leader from barrier 7 and nobody pressing it. Zavega sits handy from barrier 2, and the shape is against it at 0.81. Jet Empress is the only back-marker the shape helps clearly. Soobooco, Speedy One and Peregrina Pearl all want to sit handy, so they'll be fighting for the trail.
Punty read: Zavega is the bet at $2.65, and I'm backing it knowing the shape is against it. It has five wins from 10 starts, a 1st at Gold Coast 1000m latest, and Ben Looker's combo with the stable has won four from 10. Denman Bandit is the lone leader and the danger if it gets an uncontested run. Peregrina Pearl is the one I'd watch from the trail. Jet Empress at $81.00 is the wild card the shape helps.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Zavega (No.6) — $2.65 / $1.32
Bet $12.00 Win, return $31.80
Prob 21.4% | Place: 54.2% | Value: 0.57x Steady since tip
Why Five wins from 10 starts and two straight 1sts at 1000m. The shape is against it, but Ben Looker and A & T Sweeney are in form and the 3kg rise is on a horse that has won at lighter weights.
2. Denman Bandit (No.5) — $5.00 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.75x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.80 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Peregrina Pearl (No.11) — $3.70 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.9% | Place: 34.9% | Value: 0.40x Steady since tip
Why It's won its last two starts, a 1st at Scone 900m and a 1st at Muswellbrook 1000m, and Gabrielle Johnston's combo with Melissa Dennett is 100% (1/1). The shape is against it at 0.88.

Roughie: Soobooco (No.1) — $12.00 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.0% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why One win and five seconds from 17 on soft, and the 1st at Armidale 1100m earlier shows it can win. It's the one who gets the trail if Denman Bandit tires.

SEQUENCE LANES

EARLY QUADDIE (R1–R4)

Smart: 4,5,12 / 2,3,6,7 / 2,3,9,6 / 12,11 (96 combos x $0.3646 = $35.00) -- 36.5% flexi
Punty's take: Race 4 keeps the leg tight with Post Mark, while Race 1 and Race 2 are open. The flexi is above the floor and this is a sensible ticket with a fair payout if Race 1 and Race 2 go to the right runners.

QUADDIE (R5–R8)

Smart: 2,5,1,8 / 2,5,4,8 / 2,4,1,6 / 6,5,11 (192 combos x $0.33854 = $65.00) -- 33.9% flexi
Punty's take: Four open races with the chaos in Race 7 and Race 8, so the ticket is wide and expensive. The flexi is above the floor and the payout depends on a $5 to $10 winner somewhere in the four races.

BIG 6 (R3–R8)

Smart: 2,3,9 / 12,11,2,7,4,5 / 2,5,1,8 / 2,5,4,8 / 2,4,1,6 / 6,5,11,8 (4608 combos x $0.001085 = $5.00) -- 0.11% flexi
Punty's take: This is an entertainment-only ticket. Six legs with 4608 combos and a flexi of 0.11% means it's a lottery ticket for the fun of it, so keep it small.

NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK

1 - Gear changes on the Race 7 favourite's rival
Penciller's blinkers come off first time, and that's the change I'd watch from the front of the Race 7 market.

2 - Weight drop for a roughie
Tampa Bay is 12kg down from last start in Race 7 and has the best weight record at heavier weights, so the weight change is the most interesting line on the card.

3 - Shape suits the back-marker
Jet Empress is the Rocky Balboa of Race 8: nobody's backing it at $81.00, but the shape hands it a clear path from the back.

FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY

Back the locked bets, respect the shape, and don't go chasing a long-shot because it's had a good week. The best tickets are the ones you can still laugh about on Sunday arvo, whatever the stewards decide.
