Rightio Legends, Ruakaka is running a Soft 6 and the rail's Out 2m, so today's a "who can handle the slop and still think two moves ahead" kinda day. I'm lining up a spine, I'm steering away from anything that looks like it'll get bogged early, and I'm definitely not trusting a backmarker unless the race turns into a sitcom and everyone falls over.

Punty's take:
Ruakaka on Soft 6 is like trying to sprint through a marshmallow factory. The speed still matters, but the real edge is position plus finish. If you're stuck three wide with zero run early, you're basically playing on Hard Mode and hoping for a miracle montage.
Race 1 is full of maidens having their "first real test" moment, and that means the market favourite that's been thereabouts is the danger, while the bigger prices are there because of traffic or timing. The way Djibouti and the place prospects map, it sets up for a race where you can be selective and still stay brave.
By Race 5, we're in a longer maiden where leaders can hold on if nobody stacks up behind them. Paper Romance looks like the type to keep rolling through the heavy air, and if it's a genuine tempo, she's hard to get past at the business end.
What it means for you:
Be aggressive early in the races where the market leader is showing actual tactical speed, not just "sounds good on paper". I'm using Djibouti, Bonus Bond, and Paper Romance as the main spine because they're the ones that look like they can control their own destiny on a wet-ish surface.
For the rest, I'm picking spots where the pace shape means you can get a run without sacrificing everything. Where the locked selections are No Bet, I'm not pretending, I'm respecting that the price and placeability might be off, especially when soft makes everything tighter late.
If you're gonna swing for chaos, do it with a roughie only when there's a credible path like "the race collapses" or "they run wide and still finish". Otherwise, keep it boring, go forward, and let the line pay you for it.
