R1
Gravelista - UCI Gravel World Series Sun 25 Oct Mdn Plate
1600m · Maiden; · 12:30
✓ WON +$17 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leaders push, backmarkers need a clean run
Punty read: This is a proper "who gets clear at the right time" maiden. Brilliant Bull Ant is a backmarker and that Soft 5 can make those late runs awkward if they're still boxed up. Handsome Missile gets the winkers for a reason, and with that barrier it can stalk and hit the line without overcooking it. More Foxie is live early speed wise, but this looks like the one where the patient horse with gear help nicks it. Levent is the leader type, but maidens can get messy once the first move gets pinned back.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.00 pool)

1. Handsome Missile (No.2) — $4.80 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet $7.00 Each Way ($3.50W + $3.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$16.62
Prob 20.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.14x
Why Barrier 2 gives him options, winkers on for focus, and his profile says he'll run his race even on wet ground.

2. More Foxie (No.3) — $4.80 / $1.95 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.84x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Dance Day (No.10) — $5.00 / $1.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.94x
Why Nice under the hood profile, but I want him as a spice for the Top 2 story, not the headline.

Roughie: Brilliant Bull Ant (No.1) — $7.50 / $2.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.5% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.58x
Why If the leaders stretch and the Soft makes the middle third grind, he can swoop for a place with a clean run.

Go Seymour Go Nagambie Mdn Plate
1200m · Maiden · 13:00
✓ WON +$44 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, kickback matters
Punty read: Slow 1200s at Seymour on Soft 5 can turn into a lottery, because the field doesn't properly burn off. You want a runner that can either hold position while others hesitate, or quicken without needing perfect space. Valaroso is the obvious on-speed type and is the market anchor. Action Point is the other angle, and Big Lap has that "if it opens late" chance.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Valaroso (No.11) — $3.90 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$43.50
Prob 22.7% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.93x
Why On the pace and well drawn for a compact field, I reckon it's hard to get past once it finds the right spot.

Bet Tracked
Prob 13.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.89x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, early leads, backmarkers need room
Punty read: This one's all about who gets the run in the straight. North Dakota is a backmarker but he's been putting himself into the right races, and the way this pace scenario plays, those late lanes matter. Real Comedy looks like the honest on the map type, and it's hard to ignore the way it keeps finding the line. Quemax is the danger if he jumps clean and gets a stalk. Mr Spendedoe is more for the chaos if the gaps come late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. North Dakota (No.3) — $3.40 / $1.60 🏆 5TH
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 28.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.09x
Why Soft 5 should suit, and he's built for that "last 150m surge" when the field scrambles.

2. Real Comedy (No.5) — $3.80 / $1.70 🏆 WINNER

Prob 27.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.25x

Prob 11.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.57x

Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 33.4% | Value: 0.97x

Godolphin Internship Program (Bm66)
2000m · BM66 · 14:00
✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: BM66, 2000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, big distance grind, positions matter
Punty read: This is a classic 2000m "don't get too far back or you're doing extra work" affair. Melek is the one that looks built to control the race rhythm, and Jean Georges is the type who can stalk the right ones and just keep rolling. Razanne is the wet track style threat, and if the race stays honest early, she can be the one landing late. Placentia Bay is a roughie if the leaders tire and someone gets a perfect run through the middle.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 28.6% | Place: 62.8% | Value: 0.82x

Prob 8.7% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.14x

✗ MISS -$5 Final

Race type: BM66, 2000m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, expect congestion, then a late sprint
Punty read: This is the sort of race where "position" becomes the weapon. Covert Thinking looks like the grinder that can get into it without needing to lead every metre. Yahoo Bar is the on-pace pressure and can make the straight feel shorter for the horses behind. Navy Heart is consistent enough to keep popping up if the race stays tight.

Top 3 + Roughie ($5.00 pool)

1. Covert Thinking (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.80 🏆 4TH

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: BM62, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, short sprint, chaos early
Punty read: 1000m at Seymour on Soft is like driving a shopping trolley down a hill, speed first then survival. Bel Lupa is the big play. Parcae is more of a lead-and-hope type and could get swallowed. Myhro's Ruler is right there in the mix if the leaders go too hard. Salamanca Six is your "if it's messy" roughie.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

● CASHED Final

Race type: BM70, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, leaders get into it, finish decides
Punty read: This is a race where the right horse in the right pocket can steal the race. Tsarine is the one I want around the leaders without being trapped wide. Legacy Bay is the one with the finish power if the ground holds up just enough. Bajaria can absolutely run a race, but today I'm trusting the place-leverage lanes.

✓ WON +$44 Final

Race type: BM74, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, leaders in front, backmarkers need luck
Punty read: Educated is the speed profile but the race is on a knife edge, and those mid-pack runners who can jump and travel get the best look. Yolo is the other honest type, Interest Point is a value swing if he lands the right spot, and Fluent is a good late play if there's room. I'm not overcomplicating it, this is about clean runs in a short sprint.

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, middle distance pace pressure
Punty read: In Cups like this, you want a horse that can hang near the action without getting bullied. Detonator Jack is a mid-field runner who still has the finish, and Immediacy is your "if it drops back" danger, Wymark is there too with that heavier-weight type finishing kick. Storm Leopard is the leader style that can absolutely take control early.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Chaos Merchants, Seymour is a Soft 5 and the track is basically begging you to either get paid or get absolutely stitched, real quick. You want a plan? I've got one. We go looking for the speed, then we hunt the ones who can still dig deep when the ground starts stealing petrol from your chances. It's like racing on damp chips, you gotta pick your lane.

And yeah, the day's got that "wide-open chaos" smell. So I'm leaning into the Big 3 spine for the head-to-head winners, then using the lane sequences for the fun tax. If you're gunna play exotics, play them with intent, not vibes.

Let's get into it, race by race. No waffling, just the story, the map, and the ugly bits that win you money.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Seymour Park, 1400m-2000m card
Rail: True Entire Circuit
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Speed vs Ground-Saving)
Weather: Mostly sunny, 19C, breezy and chilly in the gusts, watch for the "soft but not sloppy" factor
Early lane guess: Pace on from the rails, then backmarkers come into it late in the bigger fields
Tempo profile: Genuine to moderate early across the card, with a few races where the leaders get a real dream run before the backmarkers storm home
Jockeys to follow:
Lachlan Neindorf: Busy day, and he's often the one sneaking into the finish
Ben Allen: Gets plenty of rides around the money, knows how to place them
Craig Williams: When he's on, you pay attention, simple as that
Stables to respect:
C Maher (8 runners): consistently squeezes out runs on tricky days, especially when the market gets itchy
Julius Sandhu (4 runners): sneaky enough to win a maiden when nobody's sure
M M Laurie (4 runners): the type to get one running late after a mid-race slog

Punty's take:

Seymour on a Soft 5 with a true track, it's all about conserving ground early. If the race sets up for a leader and they land the right trip, you can win with the speed. But if you're too far back and the field bunches up, the last 200m gets violent. That's when you want a horse that finishes off even if the early sections feel like wading through treacle.

The pace maps scream one thing today, the ones drawn to either sit right behind the speed or take it themselves have the cleanest paths. In the mid-week style maidens, you can get a "blinkers and gear shift" winner, then straight into the handicaps where class and condition carry more weight. I'm expecting a few of those "short and heavy backed" types to be genuine today, and a couple of the roughies to be the classic case of the market getting bored.

What it means for you:

Go aggressive in the races that shape like "leader gets every chance" and take your place options in the ones where the leaders might not control it fully. With Soft 5, wide drawn runners can get a rough trip, so I'm not racing to force them to win. I'll happily put them in the mix for place, then swing when the lane run and momentum line up.

My Big 3 spine is built for the winners. Then for the rest, I'm picking the Top 3 as your backbone and using the roughies as the "if the pace collapses" roulette, because sometimes you need one mad swing to make the day feel like a proper Friday night.
