Race 1 and 2 are basically wet-track trial vibes in maiden company, where any traffic issue turns into a lost chance. In Race 1, I'm leaning into the ones who draw OK and can go again, because Heavy 10 punishes the backmarkers who get bottled up early.
Race 4 through 7 is where you earn your keep. Race 4 is a Chaos Handicap, and the track being Heavy means the "one-dimensional" front-runners get picked off unless they're proper class. That's why I'm not ignoring the better on-pace profiles and why I like the winners that look like they can grind.
And Race 6 and Race 7 are the money conversations. These are the types that can take a breath, sit in the race, and then go hunting late, the way a bloke in a bar hunts his mates' next round.
What it means for you:
Be aggressive in the races where the on-pace patterns line up with the short-ish prices. That's where the value lives on wet tracks, because the leaders get the gun and the placegetters can slice through if they're close enough.
For your ticket building, don't go chucking money at longshot win-only plays. Heavy 10 races are chaos, sure, but it's repeatable chaos, and the repeat is usually a horse that stays in play from the right part of the field.
So the plan is: take the Big 3 spine for the wins, then in each race use the top three to cover your bases, and the roughie is there for the "if the speed folds, this swoops" story.
