Punty's Punts

R1
The Bentley Group Mdn Plate
1000m · Maiden · 13:16
✓ WON +$22 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, leaders likely to set up the dash, but Soft 7 turns it into a stamina test in the final 200m.
Punty read: Azzurri Queen is the obvious "wants the job done" runner, and barrier-wise she's in the zone to let the tempo do the work for her. Social Pages looks like it wants to lead or press, so expect a proper contest for the front position early, which helps the ones tracking and ready to pounce.
The market is a bit schizophrenic though, Little Medusa is getting attention and Xiguous Equus is drifting out into rough territory. That usually means one of two things, either the favourite is the real deal and the rest are battling for minor money, or there's a rain-soaked gremlin lurking. I'm betting the gremlin has a name, Little Medusa.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

1. Azzurri Queen (No.4) — $2.65 / $1.32 🏆 WINNER
Bet $17.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$28.88
Prob 31.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.74x
Why Barrier 4, leader profile, and Soft 7 should suit her action, especially if she gets a tidy run without getting stuck behind a wall.

2. Sandzibar (No.10) — $5.50 / $1.90 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 15.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.07x
Why First time blinkers and tongue tie, that can be the missing switch to go from "battling" to "earning it" late.

3. Hello Mistress (No.5) — $5.00 / $1.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.63x
Why The run pattern says she can hit the line, but today she's priced like she needs everything to go right from the pocket.

Roughie: Little Medusa (No.8) — $10.00 / $2.75 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.0% | Place: 56.8% | Value: 1.26x
Why Fresh up as a first-timer, and on Soft she can keep finding, especially if the speed collapses in the straight.

R2
Marong Family Hotel Mdn Plate
1200m · Maiden · 13:51
✓ WON +$44 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with enough natural tempo for genuine runners to keep kicking.
Punty read: Sattva looks like the one to beat on paper, but this is Maiden land, where the real villain is "who gets the run of the race." Molveno and The Judge Ruled both look like they can be competitive, with The Judge Ruled having that leadership and then the re-ride angle that can spark.
Fake Fiction is your "have to include" because the price is too tempting for a horse that can outrun its own odds if it gets clear galloping room late. Soft 7 can turn this into a grind, so if you're back in the field too early, you'll be towing a caravan turning for home.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

1. Sattva (No.12) — $3.40 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $20.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$48.00
Prob 25.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.84x
Why Maps to be on the go early, and the market's treating it like a genuine chance, which in maidens on Soft usually means it can get first run.

2. Molveno (No.11) — $4.40 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $4.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$4.00
Prob 20.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.35x
Why Winkers first time can tighten the focus, and this is the type of race where that extra bit of professionalism gets paid.

3. The Judge Ruled (No.3) — $3.80 / $1.57 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 68.7% | Value: 1.26x
Why The wide run and fading first-up story is real, but it still has the sort of "bounce and finish" profile you can't ignore.

Roughie: Fake Fiction (No.7) — $11.00 / $2.85 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.58x
Why If this turns into a soft-speed scramble late, a horse with midfield staying power can swoop without needing to win in a straight fight.

R3
Emmetts Mdn Plate
1600m · Maiden · 14:26
✓ WON +$7 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so the speed should carry further than you think on Soft 7.
Punty read: This is the Speed vs Stamina showdown, and the smart money wants to sit where they can take advantage of that real tempo. Cute Girl is the standout style profile, she's got the inside vibe of a horse that can land close, then keep responding when others start to fade under the wet ground.
Gasoline Rainbow is the main danger type, West Forty Seventh is there for the "don't dismiss him, he can run" angle, and Le Plus Rapide is the roughie who drifts into the picture if the front group does a bit too much work.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Cute Girl (No.6) — $1.52 / $1.01 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$6.76
Prob 51.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.47x
Why Soft 7 friendly and built for this race shape, she should be close enough to strike without getting stuck in traffic.

2. Gasoline Rainbow (No.7) — $4.80 / $1.32 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.03x
Why A real chance — but at $1.32 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.

3. West Forty Seventh (No.5) — $7.40 / $1.65 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.2% | Place: 66.1% | Value: 0.80x
Why He can run a big race, but for today he's more a trifecta payer than a clean place play.

Roughie: Le Plus Rapide (No.2) — $10.50 / $2.35 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.96x
Why If he gets clear and turns it into a sprint finish, he can pop up, but he's the longshot route from behind the early battle.

R4
Warrack Butchery Hcp (56)
1600m · Handicap · 15:01
✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, but Soft 7 means the handicapper's whispers turn into a real sprint endurance test.
Punty read: This is the type of handicap where the obvious speed can still get found if they go too hard early and then get bogged. Vegas On Fire looks the class and style leader, but remember, Soft 7 punishes those who get shuffled or spend extra energy in the wrong part of the track.
Charlecote Mill and Thoughtful are the ones I want in my head because they can travel and then attack, rather than race like they're already 10 lengths down. Bruzani and Dusty's Deel are the wildcards, but for me, the lanes are about staying nimble, not chasing every shiny name.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Vegas On Fire (No.12) — $3.50 / $1.60 🏆 5TH
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 15.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.71x
Why Leading type, and on Soft the one who stays balanced early is the one who keeps fighting, especially from a favourable running pattern.

2. Charlecote Mill (No.9) — $8.20 / $2.65 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 46.2% | Value: 1.35x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Thoughtful (No.8) — $7.50 / $2.60 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.0% | Place: 55.9% | Value: 1.18x
Why The run pattern can see a strong finish, but the exact place band says "hold tight".

Roughie: Vision Thing (No.10) — $9.50 / $3.00 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 44.2% | Value: 1.15x
Why If the pace softens and the field strings out, Vision Thing's lane to the line is the type that grabs a piece at the business end.

R5
GTS Plumbing (Bm56)
2000m · BM56 · 15:41
✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: BM56, 2000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, enough for mid-race stalkers, and Soft 7 makes every move count from the turn.
Punty read: Ahab is the one I like most in this race because the horse's pattern screams "go forward and keep grinding." Mickio is the obvious threat, Forever Jeune has the right kind of engine if the race stays honest, and Durham is the caution horse, because this field can punish a poor position.
The Stock Route is a leader type too, but the trick today is to back a horse that keeps giving after the first knock. Ahab fits that, and Mickio gives you the safety net in the place lane.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Ahab (No.1) — $4.40 / $1.82 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 22.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why Has been setting the race up, first or second in recent runs on synthetic, and now he gets the grass switch with a map that suits.

2. Mickio (No.2) — $4.50 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 18.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.10x
Why The "held up, bumped, then improved" excuses are relevant, and he's proven here when it's time to be right there.

3. Forever Jeune (No.7) — $7.00 / $2.50 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 49.1% | Value: 1.04x
Why He's got the class to feature, but the place band isn't giving you enough to get excited.

Roughie: Sharma Princess (No.12) — $12.00 / $3.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 44.4% | Value: 1.31x
Why If the race turns into a late scramble and she keeps building through the Soft, she can grab a place, but she's not the main mission.

R6
BetDeluxe Hcp (56)
1200m · Handicap · 16:15
✗ MISS -$14 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so the leaders need to last, and the ones that can sit within range without burning out are dangerous.
Punty read: Tuxedo Miss is the headline, but this race isn't a cakewalk because 1200m on Soft is where "stuck on the wrong spot" becomes "finished too early." Alpinova is the value angle, because this is the exact kind of sprint where a horse can get a run, squeeze through, and keep going.
Sunday Fun Day is there for the cheeky inclusion, Adki and Artpark are the sort to lift and surprise if the leaders soften.

Top 3 + Roughie ($14.00 pool)

1. Tuxedo Miss (No.6) — $3.20 / $1.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $14.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$14.00
Prob 15.4% | Place: 58.5% | Value: 0.64x
Why Soft sprint profile, sits in the right kind of zone, and on genuine tempo races, the horse that can keep grinding usually gets the nod.

2. Alpinova (No.9) — $8.50 / $2.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 66.2% | Value: 1.45x
Why A real chance — but at $2.75 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.

3. Sunday Fun Day (No.3) — $7.00 / $2.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.8% | Place: 56.8% | Value: 1.08x
Why If the race stays run, he can place, but again, it's about price and band discipline.

Roughie: Artpark (No.11) — $12.00 / $3.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.17x
Why With Artpark, you're betting on the late lift and the Soft giving extra help to the ones that can keep rolling late.

R7
Taylor's Palace Hotel After The Last Hcp (56)
1000m · Handicap · 16:51
✗ MISS -$24 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, short sprint, so the best chance is usually the one that gets first clear run and then keeps it honest.
Punty read: This is a proper "who gets to the pocket" sprint. Magic Field is the one to build the last leg around, Just Like Lisa is the pressure, and Raging Monkey keeps popping up like he's got unfinished business.
Simply Luscious is listed as strong value but she's priced as if she needs everything to fall right, while Two Kay Klick is the kind of rougher who can appear at the perfect time if the leaders get dragged wide by the Soft.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

1. Magic Field (No.1) — $2.94 / $1.45 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $17.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$17.50
Prob 25.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.99x
Why Maps like he'll get every chance to do his work, and this sprint suits the kind of runner that doesn't need a long journey.

2. Just Like Lisa (No.5) — $5.00 / $2.00 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 14.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.92x
Why In a 1000m handicap, a horse that's placed to press early with a smooth finish is gold, and Lisa has the right profile.

3. Raging Monkey (No.3) — $5.70 / $2.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.02x
Why Each-way type, but the place band says not today for a straight bet at this spot.

Roughie: Two Kay Klick (No.7) — $9.60 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.5% | Place: 57.4% | Value: 1.31x
Why The path is classic, right pocket early, build momentum, then swoop if the front two start doing too much work.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Warracknabeal on Soft 7 with the rail true, you can practically hear the turf sucking up the hopes as the gates open. This is one of those meetings where the quick ones can get away with murder early, but the ones with the right gear and the right luck will still jag a slice of the cash. And yep, there's plenty of chaos merchants on the card, just waiting for someone to overthink it.

Punty's take is simple, this track rewards rhythm and clean trips. Soft footing and a true track means you want horses who can hold their action through the heavy stuff, and jockeys who don't go on a safari 3 wide for 6 furlongs worth of sprinting. The pace map is the first Bible today, the market support is the second, and the gear changes are the cheeky third thing your mates forget to look at.

My Big 3 spine is built for winners that can actually take you into the front half without needing a miracle. Then we go race-by-race, Top 3 with a roughie each leg, so you're not just chasing favourites, you're hunting the right profiles for Soft 7.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Soft 7, 1000-1600m card
Rail: True Entire Circuit
Official going: Soft 7 (expected to play Speed vs Stamina, with true running routes)
Weather: Cloudy, 14°C, humidity 72%, wind 9km/h SSE (watch for gusts, can mess with timing off the line)
Early lane guess: Look for leaders and handy stalkers, then the "saved ground" types to run on through the last 200m.
Tempo profile: Moderate to genuine, with a couple of races where the pace looks like it'll spread and help mid-race runners.
Jockeys to follow:
Zac Moore: Keeps landing on the right horses when they map to get a crack, and today there are a few leaders in his races.
Jack Hill: Often rides the track like he actually studied it, and he's on key horses where timing matters in Soft.
Linda Meech: When she's on a horse with a clean run pattern, it tends to show in the finish.
Stables to respect:
Tom Dabernig (6 runners): He's set up multiple maiden types for a go, and the step up in conditions looks intentional.
Andrew Bobbin (2 runners): When he's got a horse in the right pocket, he doesn't mind letting it sit close and pounce.
M & L Cerchi (2 runners): Can be quietly dangerous, especially when the horse is set for a first real crack.

Punty's take: If you're hoping for some wild "everything changes at the 400m" fairytale, you're in for a long night. Soft 7 at Warracknabeal tends to punish the ones that spend too much energy early and then wonder why they're spinning wheels in the straight. So I'm leaning into speed that stays speed, and runners with gear ups that actually fix a real problem.
Azzurri Queen and Magic Field are the kind of horses you don't overthink. They're priced like chances you can build a day around, and they've got the profiles for Soft conditions to keep momentum.
Then I'm hunting the value ghosts, the ones the market drifts on or shortens for a reason that isn't obvious from a glance. Little Medusa, Fake Fiction, Artpark, and the "here comes trouble at the end" types are there for a reason.

What it means for you: Be aggressive early in the races where the pace shapes are straightforward. In these Soft 7 sprints and the 1200-1400 range, if you're chasing every backmarker, you end up paying for disappointment.
For the quaddie lanes, we're not going full roulette, but we are covering the legs that can genuinely go either way. Race 4 to Race 7 is where the carpark sweats, because you get open bunch handicaps where one bad spot ruins the maths.
My plan is to back the winners that fit, then sprinkle value through the roughies so if the day goes sideways, you're still swinging for the fences.
