Punty's Punts
Race type: Midway, 1500m handicap
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, clear pocket runners and turn-of-the-screw movers
Punty read:
This is where the leaders should set it up, but the real danger is the ones who can sit midfield, save ground, and still find the inside when the whip goes up. Attractiveness is the obvious platform, she's the one that looks like she can cruise into the clear on the turn, then keep powering through rather than "doing a gallant" for third. Cuban Cigar is the late-threat type if he gets a cleaner run than last time, and Jonson is in that same mix of "gets involved late if the pace holds."
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)
1. Attractiveness (No.5) — $1.93 / $1.08 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$13.95
Prob 48.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.08x
Why She's the classiest map fit, and that last run had the right kind of kick through the line.
2. Cuban Cigar (No.1) — $5.25 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet $6.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.90
Prob 14.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.87x
Why Big run first-up and the excuse in the previous start was just plain bad luck, wide and overreaching.
3. Jonson (No.7) — $9.75 / $2.35 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.34x
Why If the race stays honest, he can keep adding ground late and land in that sweet spot.
Roughie: Danish Prince (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $1.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$1.00
Prob 9.0% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.95x
Why On pace type who can sneak into the finish if the leaders don't sprint away.
Race type: Bm72, 1300m handicap
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, leaders do their job but it's still a run-on race
Punty read:
This one's about who controls the early without burning. Steel Will is the short price in the market picture, but I'm not trying to stand in front of Plagiarism and Thrill Hunter style speed. Plagiarism's the leader and looks like he can give himself every chance to last, then the others can fight it out behind. Letters Patent adds value because she's up on speed and can take a piece of it, especially if the race goes a bit frantic.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Steel Will (No.3) — $1.67 / $1.10 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$10.05
Prob 40.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.76x
Why If the tempo isn't violent, this bloke gets a nice economical run and the right run home.
2. Plagiarism (No.1) — $6.85 / $2.30 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.1% | Place: 40.2% | Value: 1.19x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Letters Patent (No.4) — $7.25 / $2.55 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.6% | Place: 54.7% | Value: 1.60x
Why On pace, class doesn't look too far off, and she can sprint through late gaps.
Roughie: Savvy Diamond (No.7) — $14.75 / $3.80 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.0% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 1.04x
Why Big price for a reason, but if the leaders flatten early he can appear like a magic trick.
Race type: C3, 1300m handicap
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, chances for front runners and stalkers
Punty read:
Chaos handicap means you respect the favourite but you don't get lazy. Valedor is the centre of gravity, and the whole race shape looks like it can give him a run at the right moment. Indi Springs is the one I keep an eye on for the save, Zousanity gives you the "place and possibly win" profile, and Winning Emotions is the late threat if traffic opens up. If they go hard early, those in the first half are the ones who get home feeling like they've cheated.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Valedor (No.14) — $3.28 / $1.52 🏆 4TH
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 32.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.30x
Why This looks like his race to pounce, and the pace setup doesn't scream against him.
2. Indi Springs (No.9) — $8.75 / $2.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 0.85x
Why A real chance — but at $2.90 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.
3. Zousanity (No.17) — $10.00 / $3.30 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.88x
Why Can roll into it late, but you need the race to play into his style.
Roughie: Winning Emotions (No.13) — $18.00 / $4.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.2% | Place: 21.4% | Value: 0.92x
Why Genuine each way risk type, if traffic clears and she finds momentum, she can still swoop.
Race type: Bm78, 1900m handicap
Map & tempo: Slow pace, tactical positioning wins races here
Punty read:
When it's slow over 1900m, it's like everyone's trying to win a chess match without moving the pieces. Concordia Wind and Hovland are both in that pocket where they can stay comfortable, then come with the right run without spending their petrol too early. Leovanni is the third cog who can take a slice if the leaders overcook their patience. This isn't a race for wide, floating rides, it's a "save ground, be patient, hit the line" kind of script.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Concordia Wind (No.6) — $4.10 / $2.00 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$46.50
Prob 18.8% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.89x
Why He can get a dream run in the slower tempo and still deliver at the finish.
2. Hovland (No.2) — $4.20 / $2.05 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 26.9% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.31x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Leovanni (No.11) — $4.15 / $1.95 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.7% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.90x
Why Could be involved, but with this pace, you need the right run in the right lane.
Roughie: Yamato Satona (No.7) — $11.50 / $3.70 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 19.2% | Value: 1.23x
Why He's the kind of back-marker that grabs a bit of prize money if the front bunch cramps.
Race type: Bm78, 1400m handicap
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, mid-pack advantage if the turn offers room
Punty read:
1400m at Rosehill is about hitting the turn at the right speed without getting trapped. Glissando, Mind Ya Bizz and Aisle Two all map into races where they can make ground without needing a miracle. Mind Ya Bizz looks like the better "value for place" sort, while Glissando is the consistent on-pacer who keeps turning up in the finish. Transcend is the one with the "if manners hold, she runs a big race" angle, but the top three are the safest stories to follow.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)
1. Glissando (No.5) — $3.38 / $1.40 🏆 9TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 23.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.90x
Why He's got the on-pace engine and the finish style that suits a clean run-on track.
2. Mind Ya Bizz (No.10) — $6.95 / $2.05 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$7.87
Prob 16.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why This is the one you want for the place side, he's close enough to win but safer to salute late.
3. Aisle Two (No.3) — $6.30 / $1.95 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.21x
Why Strong profile, but I'm not using him as the main play when the spot isn't as locked.
Roughie: Pierata's Gem (No.7) — $10.25 / $2.60 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.5% | Place: 45.9% | Value: 1.05x
Why If the leaders get sticky, she can run into a lane late and pay for the patience.
Race type: Bm78, 1100m handicap
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, sprint pressure and pocket running
Punty read:
This is a speed-and-position sprint. At 1100m, you do not drift wide and hope for the best, you either are on the speed or you're stalking from a position that lets you swipe through at the right time. Street Artist and Kimberley Secrets are the ones who can keep grinding, while Beside The Ocean is the backbone runner who looks set to sit in the right lane and not panic when things get busy.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)
1. Beside The Ocean (No.8) — $5.50 / $1.95 🏆 7TH
Bet $14.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$14.00
Prob 15.2% | Place: 50.5% | Value: 0.99x
Why This is the on-paper winner that actually fits the tempo and should be able to find the line.
2. Street Artist (No.13) — $3.58 / $1.57 🏆 3RD
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.85
Prob 20.7% | Place: 62.8% | Value: 0.86x
Why Not enough win value for me, but for place he's got the speed to keep landing in the top group.
3. Kimberley Secrets (No.4) — $5.75 / $1.95 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.4% | Place: 54.5% | Value: 1.18x
Why Serious chance, just not the one I want as a saver when the race might split different.
Roughie: Tristate (No.2) — $45.50 / $6.50 🏆 11TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.2% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 1.20x
Why Long shot, but if the race collapses, the backmarker can hit the line like he's late for a party.
Race type: Bm94, 1200m handicap
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders will be tested
Punty read:
1200m at Rosehill is the sweet spot for speed, and Hawker Hall looks like he's the one who gets to control the race while everyone else fights for second. Eagle Express and Istolea Merc are the stalkers who can swoop when the pressure arrives, but the key is whether Hawker Hall gets to breathe early. If he does, it's over, if he doesn't, you've still got enough pace in the race to keep it interesting.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Hawker Hall (No.5) — $2.08 / $1.09 🏆 4TH
Bet $11.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$11.00
Prob 40.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.97x

2. Eagle Express (No.10) — $4.60 / $1.55 🏆 WINNER
Bet $4.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.20
Prob 16.3% | Place: 56.4% | Value: 0.87x
Why Places are the gameplan, he looks like the exact type to run a big finish without needing to lead.
3. Istolea Merc (No.8) — $7.75 / $1.95 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 47.6% | Value: 1.15x
Why Comes at the right time if the leaders come under pressure.
Roughie: Torque To Be Sure (No.6) — $11.50 / $2.55 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 29.5% | Value: 1.08x
Why If the race flow turns against the favourite types, he can get his chance late.
Race type: Open, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, front runners and hard-knock midfielders get a crack
Punty read:
1100m Rosebud is where the fastest horses either win or make sure you learn a lesson. Blue Door is the horse with the clearest speed and the market is taking her seriously for a reason. Castillo King and Chilly Girl are the obvious opponents, both with tactical gear to keep within striking distance. Royal Exile is the name that can bite if she's not trapped by position, but today I'm trusting the ones with the most control over their own fate.
Top 3 + Roughie ($25.00 pool)
1. Blue Door (No.6) — $3.52 / $1.57 🏆 2ND
Bet $20.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$20.50
Prob 29.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.25x
Why Clear speed with a tempo that lets her keep finding runs, and she's set up to hit the line.
2. Castillo King (No.10) — $4.30 / $1.75 🏆 4TH
Bet $4.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$4.50
Prob 17.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.91x
Why Place bet because she can be in the right spot early and still finish strongly.
3. Chilly Girl (No.7) — $6.45 / $2.35 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.6% | Place: 40.4% | Value: 0.97x
Why She's got the tactical speed, but I'm not forcing the win when the profile is tougher.
Roughie: Royal Exile (No.15) — $15.00 / $3.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.6% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.19x
Why Long-priced but the upside is real if the pace gets exposed early.
Race type: Hcp, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, leaders keep some control, but you still need finishing power
Punty read:
This one feels like a race for horses that can sit close without overcooking it. Attica is the main anchor, fresh look, and the barrier and pace story says he can hit the line with purpose. Rolling Magic is the danger for the place and possibly win with a smoother path through the race. Althoff is the value-looking runner but I treat him as the one for exacta and trifecta chaos rather than the hero on your main ticket.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)
1. Attica (No.1) — $4.00 / $1.57 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 28.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.31x
Why Gelded and resuming, but the trial setup and finish style point to a big campaign start.
2. Rolling Magic (No.12) — $6.30 / $1.95 🏆 4TH
Bet $7.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 17.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.29x

Bet Tracked
Prob 24.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.78x

Roughie: Sir Artie (No.10) — $10.00 / $2.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.6% | Place: 42.1% | Value: 0.99x
Why If he gets a run in the right pocket he can still snag a top three, but it's a tactical watch.
Race type: Bm78, 1400m handicap
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, mid-race positions matter, sprinting lanes open late
Punty read:
This is a proper "who gets the run" finish. Tarzing is the market signal and Steel Strike is the form and pace-alignment threat that can hit the line without needing a miracle. Felix Majestic is there as the type who can pop into trifectas if the race opens up. I'm avoiding the temptation to get cute with the wide floaters unless the speed collapses.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)

Bet $7.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 18.4% | Place: 68.8% | Value: 1.23x

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Rosehill's on Good 4, rail's True, and the sky's doing that "maybe sprinkle, maybe ruin your night" routine. With the crosswind picking on the wide types, today's about being in the right part of the track and having your ticket set up before the market does something silly.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Good 4, 1400-1900m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Fair and Straight, with a slight bend toward on speed)
Weather: Shower or two, 13°C, humidity 81%, light gusts WNW, rain risk 40%+ around 10:00 (watch for late wet hints)
Early lane guess: Tight-ish early, then open up in the back half as fields string out
Tempo profile: Most races look moderate to genuine early, with a couple of slow burners where the leaders can hold their breath
Jockeys to follow:
Kerrin McEvoy: gets the jobs done, and he's not afraid to sit tough in the real stuff
James McDonald: class rider, great at turning good speed into the right run home
Tommy Berry: when he's on a proven path, he makes it look easy
Stables to respect:
C J Waller (6 runners): builds them up for these big Rosehill assignments and tends to lift when it matters
G Waterhouse & A Bott (3 runners): has sharp gate to line horses, especially when the map gives them a say
Bjorn Baker (2 runners): likes to have them primed, and when the market moves, it usually has a reason
Punty's take:
This meeting is the kind where you can get absolutely cooked if you "overwatch" the rain and forget the simple stuff, pace first, positioning second, then pray your horse finds the galloping lane before the field pinches. Good 4 with occasional showers usually means the track stays usable, but the wide runners can get slapped by crosswind and the extra effort of being three-wide turning for home.
Race 1 sets the tone, where the favourite is short enough you can almost hear the bagman breathing down your neck. I'm still backing the one that looks like she's going to get the run, because at Rosehill, being in the right pocket is half the battle. Then we stack a spine through the mid-card where class and map line up, especially in the 1900m slog and the sprint races that come after.
The other big theme is market behaviour. When something firms hard and has a clean path through the tempo, I'm happy to follow it. When it drifts and looks like it's just running for vibes, I'm letting it beat someone else's bank account. Simple.
What it means for you:
My plan is pretty straightforward, be aggressive with the races where the on-speed map and stable intent line up, and take your value where you're paying for a horse that can actually win, not just "place hard and hope." If you're the type to chase longshots in every race, fair, but today is the day you earn it. Pick your spots.
Use the Big 3 as your backbone. Then for the quaddie and Big 6 lanes, you're basically building risk management into a box, some legs are tight and banker-ish, some legs are open water where one blocked run turns your entire personality into a sob story.
Gamble smart, don't get cute, and if it rains late, don't panic bet. You'll feel like a genius for 0.7 seconds, then you'll donate your next round of beers.
