Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Dubbo, head to https://punty.ai/tips/dubbo-2026-10-31
Rightio Legends, Dubbo is on a Good 4 with the rail out 3m on the 900m to 400m run and nine races from 1000m to 2200m, so there's plenty of ground to make a mug of yourself on. The day kicks off with a hot-paced Bm66 that rewards the back half, and the fireworks come in the Open sprint in Race 6 where three horses want the lead. Grab a coffee, pick a seat, and let's go.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Dubbo, 1000m to 2200m card
Rail: +3m 900m-400m, True Remainder
Official going: Good 4 (Nil last 24hrs, 17mm last 7 days)
Weather: Fine, live conditions show gusts of 24.1km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Moderate in Races 1, 4, 8 and 9 (Race 4 and Race 8 have the back half favoured), Genuine in Races 2, 5 and 7, Slow in Race 3, and Hot in Race 6. The sprints and the Hot Pace race are where the speed fights are.
Jockeys to follow:
Gabrielle Johnston: 9 rides today, including Castlebar Road (Race 6), Keadool's rival Blue De Beers is not hers, but she has Delrico (Race 1), The Beast (Race 3) and Quasimoto's rival Mega Pixel (Race 9). Her 13.4% strike rate at Dubbo (53/397) is the best of the riders I'd lean on.
Jacob Stiff: 9 rides, Tavijewel (Race 1), Sleek 'n' Style (Race 5), Supreme Style (Race 7) and Talkachino (Race 8). Quiet market, but he's got a handful of horses that can be dangerous if the shape falls right.
Jake Pracey-Holmes: 9 rides, including Godwits (Race 1, 9.6% at Dubbo from 613 rides), Smart And Dapper (Race 6) and Egyptologist (Race 8). He's the one on the stake pick in the opener, which is why he's on the list.
Stables to respect:
Brett Thompson (12 runners): Final Coast and King Kookabaa in Race 3, Denman Force in Race 7 and Egyptologist in Race 8. Biggest stable on the card, and the strike rate is steady rather than flashy.
Brett Robb (11 runners): Marinera and Penciller in Race 5, Micro Mikki and Poisen Point in Race 8. Two strong chances in a race I like, and he's got the depth to win more than one.
Connie Greig (10 runners): Little Bubbles in Race 2, Grey Belief in Race 4 and Tampa Bay in Race 5. A lot of his horses are coming off decent runs, and the stable's record at Dubbo (10.0% at the track) is solid.
Punty's take: Dubbo's card is a tale of two halves. The opening three races are a trap for the lazy punter: Race 1 has a moderate pace that suits back runners, and Race 2 is a genuine pace on a 1000m maiden with one clear leader. Race 3 is slow and that's a Pandora's box, because the two near-the-front runners get the sit and the back half have to produce something. The middle of the card gets interesting, with Race 4 and Race 5 both genuine or moderate with a leader or two, and Race 6 is the chaos that everyone will be talking about. Three runners want the lead in that sprint, and the one I like best is a horse who'll be pushed back into the race by the speed. Race 7 is another sprint with one leader, and Race 8 and Race 9 are moderate, which gives the back half a fair crack. Nobody has a bankers race from the data, so this is a day for picking your spots.
What it means for you: Be aggressive on Race 1 with the Godwits each way, because the shape is with him and the weights are kind. Keep the Race 3 bet small, since The Beast has only one win from his career and the slow pace is against him. Race 6 is where the day's money should go, with Crook at the head of the market and the way I read it, the speed battle will make him a strong call. Race 8 is the big race of the day, and Hammoon Sensation is the most likely winner on the card even though the shape isn't in his favour. Go easy with the sequence tickets because they're mostly open legs, and only spend what you can afford to lose on the long shots in each race.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Godwits (Race 1, No.1) — $4.20
Why Good 16:4-3-0 and 1st-up 3:1-0-0, last start a 2nd at Bathurst 2000m by 0.7L. Two wins from three at 56kg, and the moderate pace in a 2200m benchmark race suits a horse who sits handy from barrier 4.
2 - Crook (Race 6, No.6) — $2.40
Why Second in each of his last three starts according to his Extended Form, and Dist 4:2-1-1 says he handles the sprint trip. The shape is against him with three leaders in a Hot Pace race, but a horse this consistent can cope with that.
3 - Hammoon Sensation (Race 8, No.6) — $3.40
Why Rosehill 1500m winner last start (0.7L), and Good 8:4-0-0 is the best record on the card at this price. The moderate pace and the ON-PACE map say he's not the ideal shape, but he's the class horse in a Cup field.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 34.27 = $342.70
Race 1 – Burgun & Williams Optometrists (Bm66)
Race type: Benchmark 66, 2200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace on paper, with nobody mapping to lead outright. Godwits from barrier 4, Tavijewel from barrier 7 and Minister Garrett from barrier 2 are the likeliest to find the front, and Tavijewel has to work across from a wide draw to get there. The shape suits the back half, so Delrico (back, pace-advantaged) and Lady Tino from barrier 8 are the ones who can make ground. Godwits sits handy and the shape helps him, which is why he's our stake.
Punty read: Godwits is the bet and I'm happy to put $10.50 each way on him. He's on the speed, the price is right for a horse with Good 16:4-3-0, and the pace should suit him better than the others on the front end. The danger is Delrico from barrier 3, who is a backmarker with a 1.16 map factor and two wins from two at 60-62kg is a worry for the weight. D'oro Choice has blinkers on again and is a real chance, and Lady Tino is the roughie who needs the pace to collapse.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Godwits (No.1) — $4.20 / $1.57
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $30.29 if it wins ($22.05 win + $8.24 place), $8.24 if it only places
Prob 27.2% | Place: 59.0% | Value: 1.14x Steady since tip
Why Two wins from three at 56kg, and a 2nd at Bathurst last start. Sits handy from barrier 4 in a race that suits his style.
2. Delrico (No.3) — $4.20 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.86x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. D'oro Choice (No.4) — $3.40 / $1.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.55x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers on again, with ear muffs and nose roll off for the first time. Third at Beaumont 2100m last start (1.2L) and Good 28:2-3-5 says he can run a place.
Roughie: Lady Tino (No.5) — $19.00 / $3.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.5% | Place: 17.8% | Value: 0.66x Steady since tip
Why Two wins from five first-up and a 3rd at Dubbo 2200m two starts back. If the pace stays moderate and Godwits and the leaders run each other into the ground, Lady Tino from barrier 8 is the one who can run home late.
Race 2 – Callaway Roofing & Construction Mdn Hcp
Race type: Maiden, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Majestic Roca the only leader on the map from barrier 4, and that leaves him uncontested up front. Ona Bivvy from barrier 1, Broadway Sal from barrier 10 and Silent Uprising from barrier 3 are the nearest pressure. Little Bubbles from barrier 14 has to work across, and Beyond Perfection from barrier 12 needs cover. The shape is against Beyond Perfection, so he has to win through the field rather than sit on the speed.
Punty read: Beyond Perfection gets the $11.00 win bet. His last start was a Scone 900m win (Extended Form), and the nose roll goes on for the first time. He's drawn wide and the shape is against him, but the way I read it he's the best of the form and the price is about right. Silent Uprising has real claims with interference excuses on the last two runs, and Simply Sonnet is one I like in the market since the price has come from $9.50 to $6.00. Little Bubbles is the roughie for the market move, not the shape.
Top 3 + Roughie ($11.00 pool)
1. Beyond Perfection (No.1) — $3.10 / $1.52
Bet $11.00 Win, return $34.10
Prob 18.3% | Place: 52.2% | Value: 0.57x Steady since tip
Why Won at Scone 900m last start, and nose roll goes on for the first time. He's wide enough to lose ground, but the form is the best in the race.
2. Simply Sonnet (No.12) — $6.00 / $2.25
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 38.2% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.25 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Silent Uprising (No.8) — $9.00 / $2.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 31.6% | Value: 0.85x Steady since tip
Why Cross-over nose band and ear muffs both off for the first time. Sectionals show L400 rank 2 and the last two runs came with interference excuses.
Roughie: Little Bubbles (No.13) — $10.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.0% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 0.70x Steady since tip
Why Third at Coonabarabran 900m last start and the price has come from $15.00 to $10.00. Draw 14 is a real problem, but if the pace is genuine and the leaders cook each other, he can sneak home.
Race 3 – Carpet One Dubbo Country Boosted Mdn Plate
Race type: Maiden, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace with Kojak from barrier 1 and The Beast from barrier 2 the likeliest to take the front. The shape suits the back half, so Big Brad (backmarker, 1.16 map factor) and Hangonaseq from barrier 7 are the ones who can run on. Castro, Nodefence, Recognition and Texan Star all come from the wide end and need cover. The Beast sits handy and the shape works against him, so he needs to win the fight at the front.
Punty read: The Beast gets the $13.00 win bet. He has 12 starts for 0 wins and five seconds and three thirds, which says he's close but hasn't got there yet. The tongue tie is back on, the Good 6:0-4-1 record shows he runs well on the surface, and the price is about right at $4.40. The slow pace is the issue, so he's a horse who needs to bulldoze the field. Big Brad is the danger with blinkers on for the first time and a sectional fastest in L400, and Hangonaseq is the one with the same blinker change and the back-half shape.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. The Beast (No.7) — $4.40 / $1.85
Bet $13.00 Win, return $57.20
Prob 20.8% | Place: 54.4% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why Second at Narromine 1100m (0.7L) two starts back and he has been close to a winner in every race. Tongue tie on again.
2. Big Brad (No.10) — $5.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Hangonaseq (No.11) — $6.50 / $2.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 39.0% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers on for the first time, and a 3rd at Tamworth 1000m 2.8L two starts back. Back-half shape in a slow race.
Roughie: Mega Missile (No.13) — $9.50 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.97x Steady since tip
Why Second at Narromine 1300m last start (3.5L) and drawn 6. If Kojak and The Beast go too hard early, he has the speed and the 1.05 map factor to get involved late.
Race 4 – Sing Out Choir Plate (C1)
Race type: Class 1, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with Swift Gun from barrier 9, What A Gent from barrier 6, Meldirer from barrier 2 and Carisbrooke Queen from barrier 17 the likeliest to find the front. Two of those are ON-PACE and the rest are scattered, so the front half will be contested. La Chaparron (midfield, 1.16) and Encyclopedia (back, 1.16) are the ones the shape favours. Smart Scud is a backmarker from barrier 11, and the shape is against him, so he has to win on the run rather than sit on the speed.
Punty read: Smart Scud gets the $13.00 win bet. His record is one win from three on Good and the market has come from $5.50 to $4.00, so the money is saying he's the one. The shape is against him and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. He'll need the front-runners to fight it out up front and the back of the field to close. Swift Gun has been running on well with a 2nd at Orange 1300m last start, and What A Gent has been placed plenty of times without winning. Aphelion is the roughie for the shape.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Smart Scud (No.2) — $4.20 / $1.75
Bet $13.00 Win, return $54.60
Prob 16.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why One win from three on Good and a 4th at Narromine 1200m two starts back. Market support has come in from $5.50 to $4.00.
2. Swift Gun (No.3) — $5.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.83x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. What A Gent (No.11) — $5.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Second at Taree 1400m last start (0.6L). No wins from 25 career starts but six seconds, so the placing side is real.
Roughie: Aphelion (No.10) — $13.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.6% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.98x Steady since tip
Why Fourth at Dubbo 1600m last start and the price has drifted from $9.50 to $12.00. If the front-runners tire over the 1600m trip, he can run home from barrier 5.
Race 5 – Tracserv Hcp (C1)
Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Krasavitsa the only leader from barrier 13, and that makes the lead uncontested on the map. Penciller, Harvey's Turn, Marinera, My Boy Scout and Elderberry Wine are all on the speed, so the pressure comes early. Marinera and Tampa Bay are drawn wide and have to work across. My Boy Scout from barrier 12 sits handy and the shape helps him with a 1.07 map factor, so he's the stake.
Punty read: My Boy Scout gets the $10.00 win bet. Third at Bathurst 1200m last start (1.6L), a sectional bunch of good runs at this track, and the jockey-trainer combo is 14.9% from 181 rides. The price is $4.40, which is short but he's the best-placed horse in a genuine pace race. Penciller has blinkers off for the first time and the warning on weight says he's better at lighter weights. Sleek 'n' Style won at Coonamble last start and has the value edge on the market.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)
1. My Boy Scout (No.5) — $4.50 / $1.85
Bet $10.00 Win, return $45.00
Prob 11.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.52x Steady since tip
Why Third at Bathurst 1200m last start (1.6L) and sits handy from barrier 12 in a genuine pace race where the shape helps.
2. Penciller (No.1) — $5.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.58x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Sleek 'n' Style (No.8) — $10.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 1.01x Steady since tip
Why Won at Coonamble 1100m last start (0.2L) and it's a wide draw from 18 that needs cover, but the value edge is real.
Roughie: Tommy's Girl (No.10) — $13.00 / $3.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.68x Steady since tip
Why Fourth at Bathurst 1200m last start and Good 10:1-3-1 says she's a placing type. Draw 1 gives her a nice run to the rail if the speed goes early.
Race 6 – North West Equestrian Expo Showcase Sprint
Race type: Open, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot pace with three leaders in Castlebar Road from barrier 8, Gold Lover from barrier 9 and Glowing Rapids from barrier 1. They'll go hard early, and the drawn wide leaders have to work across. Crook from barrier 3 sits handy behind them and the shape is against him, but a hot race can fall apart in the straight. Smart And Dapper and Vierville are the ones who come from midfield and ON-PACE, so the pace is set for the back half to close.
Punty read: Crook gets the $15.00 win bet. He's the best-credentialed horse on the card, second in each of his last three starts, and the Dist 4:2-1-1 and Track 3:0-2-0 records say he's got a sprint and a Dubbo surface that suits. The shape is against him, but the horse who sits behind three leaders going hot is the one who can pick them off. Smart And Dapper has some real class and is the one to chase. Castlebar Road is the roughie if the leaders fight it out.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Crook (No.6) — $2.45 / $1.25
Bet $15.00 Win, return $36.75
Prob 26.4% | Place: 60.1% | Value: 0.65x Steady since tip
Why Second in each of his last three starts. Dist 4:2-1-1 and sits handy from barrier 3 in a hot sprint where the leaders will be run down.
2. Smart And Dapper (No.10) — $7.00 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.5% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.16x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.35 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Vierville (No.9) — $8.50 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.1% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.20x Steady since tip
Why Good 7:2-0-0 says he's won twice from seven on Good, and the tongue tie is off again. A hot race can set him up for the late run.
Roughie: Castlebar Road (No.2) — $10.00 / $2.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.6% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.26x Steady since tip
Why Track 17:3-6-1 is the best track record in the race, and the hot pace could leave him the one standing if the other two leaders burn out.
Race 7 – Inland Petroleum (Bm66)
Race type: Benchmark 66, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Kevin the only leader from barrier 1, uncontested on the map. Keadool from barrier 5 sits handy, and the shape helps him with a 1.03 map factor. Blue De Beers and Supreme Style are the others on the speed. Miss Capricorn is the one back-marker who gets helped by the pace, so the shape suits the back half too.
Punty read: Keadool gets the $10.50 each way. He's three wins from six at this distance (Dist 6:3-0-0), Good 14:3-0-2 and a Bathurst 1100m 6th last start. The shape helps him and the market move says the money is around. Kevin is the leader and the price has drifted from $4.50 to $5.50, so he's the one to watch if he gets an uncontested lead. Blue De Beers ran second at Coonamble 1100m last start and is ON-PACE from a wide draw, so he's the danger from the speed.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Keadool (No.2) — $7.00 / $2.40
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $49.35 if it wins ($36.75 win + $12.60 place), $12.60 if it only places
Prob 13.5% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why Three wins from six at 1000m and a 6th at Bathurst 1100m last start. Sits handy from barrier 5 and the shape helps him.
2. Kevin (No.5) — $6.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Blue De Beers (No.7) — $4.60 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 34.5% | Value: 0.49x Steady since tip
Why Second at Coonamble 1100m last start (0.3L) and Good 8:2-2-0 says he's a solid racing type. ON-PACE from barrier 11.
Roughie: Violet And Blue (No.3) — $14.00 / $3.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.5% | Place: 27.9% | Value: 1.05x Steady since tip
Why Dist 12:3-2-2 shows he handles this trip well. Last start is an excuse run with a medical or physical issue, so the run before is the real guide. If the front pair duel, he can get the trail and run home.
Race 8 – Imperial Hotel Coonabarabran Cup
Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with nobody mapping to lead outright. Hammoon Sensation from barrier 3, Hibiki Harmony from barrier 7 and Egyptologist from barrier 11 are the likeliest to find the front, and Egyptologist has to work from a wide draw. The shape suits the back half, so Talkachino (midfield, 1.16) is the one the pace helps most. Hammoon Sensation sits handy and the shape is against him, but a horse with his record can win from there.
Punty read: Hammoon Sensation gets the $13.00 win bet. He won at Rosehill 1500m last start, has Good 8:4-0-0 and is the most likely winner on the card at 23.6%. The shape is against him with a moderate pace, but the class edge is the thing. Poisen Point won at Coonamble 1200m last start and has a good record on the track. Micro Mikki is the one who can get the trail behind the pace, and the market has come in from $6.00 to $4.80.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Hammoon Sensation (No.6) — $3.40 / $1.60
Bet $13.00 Win, return $44.20
Prob 23.6% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Won at Rosehill 1500m last start (0.7L) and has four wins from eight on Good. Sits handy from barrier 3, the shape is against him, but the class is there.
2. Poisen Point (No.3) — $4.50 / $1.85

Prob 15.5% | Place: 59.0% | Value: 0.70x Steady since tip

3. Micro Mikki (No.1) — $4.80 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.0% | Place: 57.6% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why Second at Coonamble 1600m last start (0.6L). Market support has come from $6.00 to $4.80 and Clayton Gallagher's combo with Micro Mikki's trainer runs at 24% over 484 rides.
Roughie: Due Calzini (No.2) — $16.00 / $3.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.6% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.90x Steady since tip
Why Won at Canberra 1600m last start (0.2L) and Dist 8:1-3-1 shows he handles the trip. The price has drifted from $9.00 to $12.00, and if the favourite gets worried he's the one to chase.
Race 9 – Hello Sport Country Boosted (Bm58)
Race type: Benchmark 58, 1300m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with Mega Pixel from barrier 3, Fearn Trick from barrier 8 and Divine Conclusion from barrier 14 the likeliest to find the front. Divine Conclusion has to work from a wide draw. The shape favours the back half, so Trifecta Ruby from barrier 19 and Giovanna Star from barrier 18 are the ones who need cover. Quasimoto from barrier 9 sits midfield, and the shape is against him, so he needs to win through the field.
Punty read: Quasimoto gets the $10.50 each way. He won at Forbes 1100m last start (2L) and Good 10:2-3-2 is a solid record. The jockey is Zoe Hunt and the stable is C Lundholm, with the combo at 12% from 333 rides. Mega Pixel is the one who can lead the way and his record on Good is 1-3-1 from six. Onyspeed is the one who runs on well with a 2nd at Orange 1300m last start. Lang Park is the roughie with the wide range of runs.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Quasimoto (No.5) — $6.00 / $2.15
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $42.79 if it wins ($31.50 win + $11.29 place), $11.29 if it only places

Why Fifth at Coonamble 1400m last start (0.8L) and Good 25:2-5-0 says he's got depth. Draw 7 is good for a sit, and if the front-runners fall away in the straight, he can finish.
SEQUENCE LANES
EARLY QUADDIE (R2-R5)
Smart: 1,12,8,13 / 7,10,11,13 / 2,11,3,10 / 5,1,8,10 (256 combos x $0.3125 = $80.00) -- 31.2% flexi
Punty's take: Every leg is open, with Race 2 a wide-open maiden and Races 3 to 5 all chaos-heavy. The 30% flexi floor is met, and this is a high-risk ticket with a real chance of a big return, so keep the outlay to what you can lose.
QUADDIE (R6-R9)
Smart: 6,2,10 / 2,5,7,3 / 3,1,6,2 / 5,2,4,1 (192 combos x $0.33854 = $65.00) -- 33.9% flexi
Punty's take: Race 6 is the tightest leg with Crook at the head, but Race 7 and Race 9 are wide open. Race 8 is three runners, and the 34.7% flexi clears the 30% floor. High risk, and the payout depends on a $5 to $10 winner somewhere.
BIG 6 (R4-R9)
Smart: 2 / 5 / 6 / 2 / 6 / 5 (1 combos x $5.00 = $5.00) -- 500% flexi
Punty's take: Six open legs and 4096 combos for $5.00. The 0.10% floor is met at 0.12%, but this is an entertainment-only ticket, so treat it as a lottery ticket and not a plan.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Penciller's blinkers come off
Blinkers are OFF for the first time for No.1 in Race 5. His last start was a 5th at Dubbo 1000m, and the excuse listed is interference, so the gear change could be the fix.
2 - Crook has been second three times running
Crook ran second at Coonamble 1200m, Dubbo 1200m and Dubbo 1120m in his last three starts (Extended Form), and sits at 2nd in each. A horse that keeps running second is either unlucky or just short, and in a Hot Pace race that's a useful thing to know.
3 - Dunedin's blinkers go on again
Dunedin's price has drifted from $101.00 to $126.00 in Race 8 and the blinkers are on again. If you're looking for the one in the Coonabarabran Cup that the bookies would happily see you back, that's the one to watch, and it's not the one I'd take a punt on.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
Dubbo is a day for the patient, so don't come in throwing your money at the first favourite you see. Keep the Race 6 dogfight in your head, and whatever you do, don't let a long-shot ticket eat your Saturday budget.
