MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Newcastle, 900m to 1900m card
Rail: +11m Entire
Official going: Good 4 (Nil rainfall last 24hrs, 12mm last 7 days)
Weather: Fine, live gusts 18.5km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Mostly Slow to Moderate on the paper. R3 is Slow with nobody natural on the front, R1 and R2 look Slow too, R4, R5 and R8 are Moderate, R6 is Moderate with two fighting for the lead, and R7 is the only Genuine pace on the card with Jacenza the lone leader.
Jockeys to follow:
Aaron Bullock: eight rides today, including the R1 headliner Shahaameh (No.4) and the R4 late alt ride on Imelda (No.5).
Jean Van Overmeire: eight rides, with Llantarnam (No.1) in R1 the one to watch for the early speed.
Grant Buckley: six rides, spread across Kurithea (No.6), Tullula (No.9), Singing Star (No.8), Sharp Shock (No.5) and Caelus (No.12), so he is in plenty of the chaos.
Stables to respect:
C J Waller (6 runners): six runners across R1, R2 and R3, including In Her Name (No.5) in R1 and Angel Feet (No.3) in R3, so there's plenty of ammunition to work through.
Annabel & Rob Archibald (4 runners): Incremental (No.11) and Crunch (No.12) in R2, plus Tacitly (No.2) and Kurithea (No.6) in R4, with Tacitly also carrying a T-HOT note in the data.
K A Lees (4 runners): Special Spin (No.8) in R1, Escalopecan (No.14) in R2, Via Flaminia (No.9) in R7 and Maui (No.1) in R8, and Maui is the one that matters most.
Punty's take: This is a Newcastle meeting where the speed is spread out, not stacked, and that is the whole story. R3 is a Slow pace race with nobody mapping to lead or sit handy, so the back-half runners have a real case if the front-runners stall, but the market has Fioprospero (No.1) at $2.00 and my numbers agree the horse with the best form and the strongest record at this trip is the one to bank on. R2 has the same look, with Rain Delay (No.2) from barrier 10 likely to get a fight for the front against Incremental (No.11), which is a strong early shape only if Rain Delay can dictate. R1 looks like a Slow pace race with nobody a natural leader, where Llantarnam (No.1) is the likeliest to find the front from barrier 11, and it is the sort of race where the market's favourite can get the perfect run but the price still stings. R6 is the one I am watching closest, with Potomac River (No.4) and Precious Girl (No.5) both wanting the lead and drawn in opposite corners of the field, which sets up a proper scrap on the speed. R7 is the chaos race of the day with Jacenza the only leader and a Genuine pace on the cards, so the closers have a real shot here. R4 is the most interesting race for the each-way crowd, with Imelda (No.5) and Italian Spirit (No.1) at the head of the market and Tacitly (No.2) the value runner.
What it means for you: Be aggressive in R2 and R3, where the favourites are short but the shape backs them, and keep your stakes sensible because $2.00 chalk does not do a lot of damage to a ticket. Protect yourself in R1, where I make the favourite's shape a bit against it and the card is built on the places more than the wins. The banker races are R2 and R3 with the tighter legs, while R5, R6 and R7 are where the quaddie gets wide and the chaos lives. The value sits with Imelda each way in R4, Doralee each way in R5 and Strawberry Impact in R8 for the win ticket, and I've kept the stakes on the picks that the market and the maps both back.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Fioprospero (Race 3, No.1) — $2.00
Why Slow pace race where he settles back from barrier 5, which is against him on the map, but he's won first up before and has the sectional punch to run down a slow pace, with a record of 9 wins from 37 starts... Tidier: 5 wins from 37 starts, 4 wins at the trip on the Dist 10:2-3-1 record, and his last start was a 9th at Port Macquarie, so the bounce is the question he needs to answer.
2 - Rain Delay (Race 2, No.2) — $1.90
Why Won at Randwick 1050m last-but-one start and ran 2nd at Rosehill 1200m last start, from barrier 10 he's got the speed to sit handy and the form to bank on. He's a tricky roughie-style risk on the price, but his Good 1:0-1-0 record and time-fastest sectional say he can take the lead if nobody else wants it.
3 - Shahaameh (Race 1, No.4) — $2.00
Why Ran 5th at Rosehill 1400m last start and 3rd at Warwick Farm 1200m before that, with a jockey-trainer combo that has won a 21.4% strike rate at the track from 1170 wins, so the rider is the reason this one is on the list. The shape works against him from barrier 5, but he has the placing record to keep him in the mix.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 7.60 = $76.00
Race 1 – Hunter Land Management Mdn Hcp
Race type: MAIDEN, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow pace on the paper, and nobody is a natural leader, so the likeliest to find the front is Llantarnam from barrier 11, which is a wide draw that has to work to cross. That shape favours the back half, which is the wrong side for Shahaameh, who settles midfield from barrier 5 and carries a 0.93 map factor against him. In Her Name from barrier 10 is the one with the strongest shape edge, so the midfield runners need a run and the front-runner needs everyone else to stop.
Punty read: Shahaameh is the bet, $13.00 on the win, because the jockey-trainer line is solid and the market has him as a $2.00 favourite with a 35.6% win chance. The shape is against him so I'm not pretending it is perfect, but his 5th at Rosehill and 3rd at Warwick Farm show he's competitive, and he's a 3kg rise in weight, which is fair in a maiden. Mumbai Maharani from barrier 4 is the danger, with the market heavy on her from $5.00 to $3.90 and a 22.1% win chance, and In Her Name from barrier 10 is the one that can run on from the back if the midfield gets stuck.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Shahaameh (No.4) — $2.00 / $1.13
Bet $13.00 Win, return $26.00
Prob 35.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why Sits midfield from a fair draw and has the form to be competitive at the level, with a jockey who knows the track and a trainer on a good line here. The shape doesn't help him, but he's the one with the best numbers and I'm happy to take the short price.
2. Mumbai Maharani (No.3) — $3.90 / $1.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.1% | Place: 62.1% | Value: 0.86x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.57 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. In Her Name (No.5) — $5.50 / $1.82
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 52.9% | Value: 0.94x Steady since tip
Why Draws barrier 10 and has to come from the back, which the shape suits, and the trainer has a strong strike rate at the track. She's a good watch for the finish, not a bet at this price.
Roughie: Stay Spending (No.9) — $15.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why Ear muffs go on for the first time pre-race and the jockey is a late alternative, so the price is the reason he's on the radar. If the favourite and the midfield get stuck behind a pace collapse he could run into a place, but this is a roughie for the entertainment crowd.
Race 2 – Huxley Hill Mdn
Race type: MAIDEN, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow pace on the paper, with Rain Delay from barrier 10 and Incremental from barrier 8 the likeliest to find the front. Rain Delay is drawn wide and has to work to cross, which is why the shape is against him at a 0.84 map factor, but if Incremental doesn't force it he can get his own lead. Amazone from barrier 13 and Crunch from barrier 11 need cover, so the back half is in a tough spot unless the speed collapses.
Punty read: Rain Delay is the bet, $13.00 on the win, because he's the shortest price with a 35.9% win chance and he's shown he can run at this level. He's a 2nd at Rosehill 1200m last start and a win at Randwick 1050m before that, with time-fastest sectional credentials. Incremental at $8.50 is the one that can make it hard for him up front, with strong place numbers, and Arthur Park has the late burst from midfield with the market drifting from $5.00 out to $7.00.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Rain Delay (No.2) — $1.90 / $1.14
Bet $13.00 Win, return $24.70
Prob 35.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.68x Steady since tip
Why Drawn wide but has the speed to sit handy and the form to win this, with a 2nd at Rosehill last start and a win at Randwick 1050m. The short price is tight but he's the one that's been running on at the right level.
2. Arthur Park (No.7) — $7.00 / $2.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Landing Gear (No.3) — $4.20 / $1.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.46x Steady since tip
Why Won at Rosehill 1030m's neighbour distance on the Good track, and his 2nd at Hawkesbury 1300m last start has him ready. The map has him at the back, which the shape doesn't love, so he needs a fast finish.
Roughie: Barossa (No.8) — $13.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.6% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Ear muffs go on for the first time and he ran 2nd at Randwick 740m last start, which tells you he's competitive. He's a roughie with a jockey who isn't listed, so this is for the sickos chasing a return.
Race 3 – On The Mic (Bm64)
Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 1900m
Map & tempo: Slow pace with nobody mapping to lead or sit handy, so the shape is a thing of the back half. Fioprospero from barrier 5 settles back and the 0.88 map factor says that is against him, while Angel Feet from barrier 7 and Dance Dance Dance from barrier 8 both need cover. Lensman has the placing record to sit midfield and run on, and C'mon Flyer from barrier 3 is the one that can do the finishing if the pace is slow enough.
Punty read: Fioprospero is the bet, $10.50 on the win, because the form is the best in the race with a 38.2% win chance and he's the one that has run the distance. He's won 2 of his 10 starts at 1900m-plus distances, which is a good line for a 1900m race, and the sectionals with L600 and L400 ranked 2nd is exactly what a slow pace race asks for. Lensman at $5.00 is the danger, with a 20.7% win chance and the market backing him, and C'mon Flyer has the late kick if the favourite is caught out.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Fioprospero (No.1) — $2.10 / $1.09
Bet $10.50 Win, return $22.05
Prob 38.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Back in the field on a slow pace race, which is against him, but his record at the distance and his sectionals say he can get home. He's 8kg up from last start, so the weight is a question mark.
2. Lensman (No.2) — $5.00 / $1.62
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.7% | Place: 61.1% | Value: 1.03x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.62 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. C'mon Flyer (No.4) — $5.50 / $1.72
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.3% | Place: 60.8% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why Back from barrier 3 and has the late speed if the pace is soft. His 3rd at Hawkesbury 1600m last start was solid and the market has moved to $5.50 from $6.50, which says the money is with him.
Roughie: Ring Ahoy (No.6) — $10.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.4% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 0.54x Steady since tip
Why Market support came in heavy from $15.00 to $10.00 and he's got the J-HOT jockey on board. The back-half shape works in his favour if the front-runners fade, and his distance record is 2-3-2 from 10 starts.
Race 4 – O'Neills Tyres - Steve O'Neill Memorial Hcp (C1)
Race type: CLASS 1, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with Italian Spirit from barrier 2, Perini Miss from barrier 5 and Kurithea from barrier 3 the likeliest to find the front. Imelda sits midfield from barrier 1, which is a good draw on the rail, but the shape is against her at a 0.96 map factor, so she'll need the early speed to sort itself out. Autumn Sky and Paji Briway from the back need cover or luck, which is a long way off in a race like this.
Punty read: Imelda is the bet, $13.00 each way, because she's the favourite with a 35.0% win chance, a barrier 1 draw and a strong jockey-trainer combo. She's won her last start at Muswellbrook 1500m and ran 2nd at Muswellbrook 1280m before that, with L600 and L400 both fastest on the sectionals. Italian Spirit at $2.30 is the danger on the speed, with the market and the map both having him handy, and Tacitly at $9.00 is the value runner with a Win of 11.6% and placing numbers that look good.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Imelda (No.5) — $2.40 / $1.10
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P), collects $22.75 if it wins ($15.60 win + $7.15 place), $7.15 if it only places
Prob 35.0% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why Barrier 1 on the rail with the form to back it up, and the jockey is a late alt, but the trainer has a 28.2% strike rate and the combo is 40.7% at the track. She's the banker of the race and the each-way covers the place price.
2. Italian Spirit (No.1) — $2.30 / $1.09
Bet Tracked
Prob 28.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.66x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Tacitly (No.2) — $9.00 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.6% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.04x Steady since tip
Why Midfield from barrier 6, with a sequence of seconds that says she's always in the finish. The trainer has a T-HOT line and the form line is solid, so she's the one to watch at the price.
Roughie: Perini Miss (No.4) — $10.00 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why Market support came in with a drop from $11.00 to $9.50 and she's the one that's gone close before. The jockey is J-HOT and the moderate pace suits her if the front-runners tire.
Race 5 – Hunt Hospitality Super Mdn Plate
Race type: MAIDEN, 900m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with a crowd of runners wanting the speed, and Alpha Zeta from barrier 5, Doralee from barrier 2, Final Gift from barrier 8, Quiet Question from barrier 1 and Ole Steele from barrier 4 all named as likely to find the front. Final Gift is drawn wide and has to work to cross, and the shape suits the forward runners. Doralee from barrier 2 is well placed but the 0.86 map factor is against her, so she needs a clean run.
Punty read: Doralee is the bet, $15.00 each way, because she's the favourite in the trifecta and has the placing record to back it. She's run 2nd at Newcastle 900m last start, with 5 seconds from 10 starts and the cross-over nose band off for the first time today. Ole Steele at $2.35 is the danger with the market firming and the speed map having him on the speed, and Bundy Belle is the one that can run on from midfield with the ear muffs on for the first time.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Doralee (No.3) — $3.40 / $1.37
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $35.78 if it wins ($25.50 win + $10.28 place), $10.28 if it only places
Prob 27.2% | Place: 60.2% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why 5 wins from 10 starts is not the case, her record is 0-5-1 with a 1st-up record of 5 starts for 0-4-0, so she's a placer at heart. The cross-over nose band comes off today and her last start was a 2nd at Newcastle 900m, so the each-way is the right way to play her.
2. Ole Steele (No.8) — $2.35 / $1.14
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.59x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Bundy Belle (No.7) — $4.20 / $1.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.3% | Place: 54.5% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Two wins at Rosehill 900m in his last two starts and the ear muffs go on for the first time, so he's got form and the trip. He's the sort of horse that can run on from midfield if the speed holds up.
Roughie: Funky Fun (No.5) — $11.00 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.19x Steady since tip
Why Won at Beaumont 800m last start, and the market has him at $11.00 after opening at a bigger price. The Win and Place numbers are the reason he's here, and he can get the perfect run from a midfield draw.
Race 6 – Australian Construction Group Midway (Bm64)
Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 900m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with two fighting for the lead, Potomac River from barrier 9 and Precious Girl from barrier 3. Potomac River is drawn wide and has to work to cross, which is a big cost, and Precious Girl's barrier 3 gives her the inside run to the lead, so this is a proper speed battle. Calgary King from barrier 8 is the one that the shape suits, with a 1.37 map factor, and Mr Trackside from barrier 7 needs the same sort of cover.
Punty read: Precious Girl is the bet, $10.50 on the win, because she won at Newcastle 900m last start, is on a track and distance record of 2-2-0 from 5 starts, and she's got the inside draw to run the lead out. The market has her heavy from $3.90 to $3.10 and the win chance is 22.5%. Potomac River from the wide draw is the danger if she gets stuck up front, and She's Assort is the value runner with the market drifting from $3.70 to $4.80.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Precious Girl (No.5) — $3.20 / $1.37
Bet $10.50 Win, return $33.60
Prob 22.5% | Place: 59.2% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Won at Newcastle 900m last start and has a track and distance record of 2-2-0 from 5 starts. The inside barrier 3 draw gives her the lead she wants, and the market has moved with money on her.
2. Potomac River (No.4) — $3.50 / $1.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.1% | Place: 52.0% | Value: 0.70x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.45 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. She's Assort (No.6) — $4.80 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.1% | Place: 59.3% | Value: 0.96x Steady since tip
Why On the speed and the market drifting from $3.70 to $4.80 makes her the value runner in the race. The Hanoverian nose band goes on for the first time and her 3rd at Hawkesbury 800m last start is the reason she's in the top three.
Roughie: Don't Doubt Merlin (No.1) — $11.00 / $2.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.8% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.86x Steady since tip
Why Matt Kirk is riding a 4kg claim and the market has him drifting from $8.00 to $10.00. He's the one with the sectionals and a 1st at Wyong 1000m in the past, so if the speed battle wrecks the front-runners, he runs on.
Race 7 – Maitland Rugby Club Maitland Cup Conditional (Bm68)
Race type: BENCHMARK 68, 1500m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Jacenza from barrier 4 the only leader on the map, and Commanding Artist from barrier 1 and Alabama Blitz from barrier 9 are the pressure. Alabama Blitz is drawn wide and has to work to cross, and General Soho from barrier 10 and Sharp Shock from barrier 11 need cover. Poisen Point from barrier 6 is midfield, which is against the shape at a 0.88 map factor, so he needs the pace to fall apart.
Punty read: Poisen Point is the bet, $13.00 on the win, because the form is the best in the race with a 26.0% win chance and he won at Coonamble 1200m last start. He's 5kg up, which is a question mark, but his track and distance numbers are solid and his sectionals with L600 and L400 are fastest. Sizzler at $7.00 is the value runner with the market going against her from $9.50, and Unreachable from barrier 2 is the one to watch on a fast closing record.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Poisen Point (No.1) — $3.40 / $1.57
Bet $13.00 Win, return $44.20
Prob 26.0% | Place: 54.0% | Value: 0.88x Steady since tip
Why Won at Coonamble 1200m last start and has the record to win this, with 5 wins from 19 starts. The weight is up 5kg and the shape isn't his friend, but the market has drifted from $2.80 to $3.40 and that's value.
2. Sizzler (No.11) — $8.00 / $2.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.6% | Place: 37.3% | Value: 1.17x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.45 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Unreachable (No.8) — $4.80 / $1.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why Won at Newcastle 1350m's neighbour distance and ran 2nd at Newcastle 1350m last start, with the jockey hot at the track. He's the one to run on if the front is busy, and the market is heavy on him from $7.50 to $4.80.
Roughie: Alabama Blitz (No.7) — $10.00 / $2.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.9% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.99x Steady since tip
Why Drawn 9 and on the speed in a Genuine pace, which is a roughie's best path. The market has him heavy from $14.00 to $10.00 and he's won at Scone 1400m's distance class before.
Race 8 – Newcastle Car & Truck Rental Provincial Hcp (C1)
Race type: CLASS 1, 1300m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with a lot of runners on the speed and Lego Master from barrier 8, The Pacific from barrier 5, Caelus from barrier 9 and Prince De Vega from barrier 10 the likeliest to find the front. Caelus is the one the shape suits with a 1.37 map factor, and he's drawn wide and has to work to cross. Strawberry Impact from barrier 6 is midfield, which the shape doesn't help, but he has the sectionals and the form to get through traffic.
Punty read: Strawberry Impact is the bet, $13.00 on the win, because he's the favourite with a 21.6% win chance and a 1st at Kembla Grange 800m last start. He's had visors removed again today, which is a change to watch, and his L600 and L400 sectionals are both fastest, so he can make the most of a Moderate pace if he gets the run. Maui at $5.50 is the danger with the market backing him and a 18.1% win chance, and Autumn Flyer from the back is the one that can run on.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Strawberry Impact (No.2) — $3.60 / $1.65
Bet $13.00 Win, return $46.80
Prob 21.6% | Place: 54.0% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why 1st at Kembla Grange 800m last start and fastest sectionals at both ends, so the form is there. He's the favourite, but the market has backed him with the visors off, which is a change to watch and a clean reason to take the price.
2. Maui (No.1) — $5.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.1% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.00x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Autumn Flyer (No.6) — $5.00 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.48x Steady since tip
Why Won at Wyong 1100m last start and was 2nd at Kembla Grange 1200m before that, with the market firming from $6.50 to $5.00. He's from the back, so he needs the pace to hold up.
Roughie: Howzat Harry (No.8) — $9.00 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why Won at Newcastle 1250m last start and the trainer has a record that shows he's competitive at the track. The shape is against him but he's won two of his last three at the Newcastle distance, so he's a roughie with form.

Punty's take: R1 to R3 are tight with the three banker favourites, R4 is only two horses so it's the one leg to sweat. The flexi floor is 30% and this ticket sits above it, so it's a solid play for a $20 outlay.
QUADDIE (R5-R8)
Smart: 8,3,7 / 6,5,4 / 1,8,11,7 / 2,6,1,8 (144 combos x $0.3472 = $50.00) -- 34.7% flexi
Punty's take: Four open legs and the data flags it as high risk, so this is the wide ticket. Doralee and Ole Steele keep R5 semi-tight, but R6 to R8 are chaos legs, so expect the money to go on a $5 to $10 winner somewhere in there if it's going to pay well.
BIG 6 (R3-R8)
Smart: 1,2,4,3 / 5,1,4,2 / 8,3,7,5 / 6,5,4,1 / 1,8,11,7 / 2,6,1,8 (4096 combos x $0.00122 = $5.00) -- 0.12% flexi
Punty's take: This is an entertainment ticket, honest and simple. Six legs with 4096 combos for $5 is a lottery ticket and the flexi is tiny, so play it for the fun and the bragging rights, not the bankroll.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Mardyke's gear change
Blinkers come off Mardyke for the first time and the lugging bit goes on, after 163 days off with a 1st-up record of 1:0-0-0. The market has him at $151.00, so it's a long shot with a gear change worth watching.
2 - Singing Star's big drift
Singing Star has drifted from $29.00 to $61.00 and is 87 days off, with a 1st-up record of 4:1-0-0. A drift that big on a horse with a first-up win record says the market has written him off, and that's the sort of price the sickos love.
3 - Earmuff central
Seven runners wear ear muffs pre-race today, including Stay Spending, She Can Party, Bundy Belle and Tullula. Nobody in my data says earmuffs do anything, so I'm just saying it's a lot of headphones on a Saturday.
FINAL WORD FROM THE LOOSE UNIT LOUNGE
Back the banker races with your eyes open, keep the chaos legs to the money you can afford to lose, and if you're going on the roughies, go in knowing they're roughies. Good luck to every Degenerate at the pub today, and I'll see you at the bar when the last race is run.
