Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Ascot, head to https://punty.ai/tips/ascot-2026-11-07
Rightio Ticket Munchers, Ascot is a Soft 5 with ten races, 95 runners and no scratchings, so the going is heavy enough to make the sloppy ones sweat. Most of the card looks like a slow-motion crawl with a few sprints that could turn into a shoot-out. The Big 3 spine runs through the Ourgirlcanrun and Beatty races, and I've got no time for anyone who thinks a $1.85 shot is a bad bet. Get your coffee, fire up the ticket app, and let's go to work.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Ascot, 1100m to 2200m card
Rail: True (no rail position given in the data)
Official going: Soft 5 (no rainfall given)
Weather: Fine, live gusts 18.5km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Race 3 is the only Genuine Pace race, with Rock In Wonder the lone mapped leader. Races 1, 2, 4 and 6 are Slow, and Races 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are Moderate.
Jockeys to follow:
Brad Parnham: eight rides today, including Prince Of Dala in Race 4 and Watch Me Rock in Race 9. He's been steady on the card and Prince Of Dala's 11.3% strike rate at this track is the solid number.
Clint Johnston-Porter: eight rides, with Vampi Queen in Race 3 and London's Image in Race 9 among them. His 13.6% strike rate at Ascot (1083/7976) is the best of the three.
Holly Watson: eight rides, with Ourgirlcanrun in Race 7 the one to watch. Her 10.3% at this track (361/3521) and 14% over her last 100 rides say she's riding hot.
Stables to respect:
N D Parnham (9 runners): nine runners is the biggest team on the card, and Masmelo, Scully and Xentaro give them three different shots at different prices.
D & B Pearce (7 runners): Vampi Queen in Race 3 is the headline, and Ginger Baker in Race 8 gives them a second angle.
G & A Williams (6 runners): Billionaire's Row, Watch Me Rock and London's Image cover Races 3 and 9. Their trainer strike rate at this track is 23.9% (952/3986).
Punty's take: Ascot has a clear speed map on the card's paper, and the thing to watch is who gets to the front without a fight. Race 3 is the only race where the speed is genuinely hot, with Rock In Wonder mapped to lead uncontested from barrier 8. Everywhere else the leaders are either nobody or a couple of horses who can be made to share the front, so the slow races are the ones where a horse on the speed can just sit and wait.
The bankers are in Race 6 with Beatty at $1.85, Race 9 with King Of Light at $1.97, and Race 4 with Prince Of Dala at $2.20. Race 6 is the one with a clear market leader and a big gap to the next. Race 5 and Race 8 are the chaos merchants. Race 5 has six runners with a real chance and Race 8 has five different leaders mapped, so it could go anywhere. Hook yourself to the races where you can see the shape, and treat the mess like a Sunday arvo at the casino, all noise and no certainty.
What it means for you: Be aggressive in the Big 3 and let Beatty, Ourgirlcanrun and I Love Ya Money carry the multi, because they are the three most likely winners on the card. Protect yourself in Race 3 and Race 5, where the pace is contested and the outside draws are hard. Race 9 has two other runners with value on the board, Watch Me Rock and London's Image, but I'm only watching them, not backing them. The only ticket I'd call a real value play is the one that covers the open legs, so use the sequence tickets as a bit of fun rather than a bank.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Beatty (Race 6, No.1) — $1.85
Why Five wins from six starts, including his last two on the track, and the sectionals back that up. The pace shape works against him from barrier 4, but the form is too strong to ignore.
2 - Ourgirlcanrun (Race 7, No.6) — $2.10
Why Mapped to lead from barrier 6 in a race where the shape helps him, and he has form at this trip with three wins from five at the distance.
3 - I Love Ya Money (Race 2, No.2) — $2.20
Why Won his last 2200m start on soft at Ascot and has the fastest L600 and L400 sectionals in the race. The map is awkward from barrier 7, but he's the best of the bunch.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 8.55 = $85.50
Race 1 – Magic Millions Plate
Race type: Open, 1100m
Map & tempo: Slow pace on paper. Nobody is mapped to lead, but Ahab The Arab is the likeliest to find the front from barrier 5 and the sectionals say he finishes quickly. Madam Lash is drawn wide from barrier 7 and needs cover, which she may not get. The shape is kind to the horses sitting handy behind a single lead.
Punty read: Snippex is the one with money on it. He's the best place chance on the card at 46.1%, and his last two runs were a second at Belmont Park 850m and a sixth on the same course. Chris Parnham rides him and Jeff Tsang's strike rate with Snippex's trainer is 17.5% at this track, so the team knows how to win here. Ahab The Arab is the danger from the front, and Golden Pacific can get a run with blinkers on for the first time. Malibu Star is the roughie who can run into a placing if the front-runners stall.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Snippex (No.4) — $3.40 / $1.75
Bet $15.00 Win, return $51.00
Prob 21.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Best place chance on the card and a clean run from barrier 4. He's been running on at Belmont Park and the jockey and trainer line supports him.
2. Ahab The Arab (No.1) — $5.70 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.8% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.13x Steady since tip
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Golden Pacific (No.2) — $4.20 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.7% | Place: 40.9% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers on first time and his last run at Belmont Park was a second. He's a live runner with the gear change to watch.
Roughie: Malibu Star (No.7) — $11.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.5% | Place: 26.8% | Value: 1.16x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers on first time and a third at Belmont Park 850m last start. If the speed collapses, he's the one who can sneak into the frame from the back.
Race 2 – Carbine Club Of WA Apprentices Cup (Bm66+)
Race type: BenchMark 66+, 2200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace again, and nobody is mapped to lead. I Love Ya Money and Obscentino both sit in the wide barriers at 7 and 8 and have to work to cross. The shape favours the forward runners, with Obscentino the one helped most, which is a bad look for our top pick from barrier 7.
Punty read: I Love Ya Money is the one with the money, and the shape is against him. The way I read it, he's the best horse on the card at this trip. He won his last 2200m start on soft and has the sectionals to finish. Chanel Cooper rides him, and the trainer Mitchell Pateman has a 29% strike rate over the last 100 rides at this track. Abissi is the danger if the leaders go soft, and Stylax is the roughie who can come from the back.
Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)
1. I Love Ya Money (No.2) — $2.20 / $1.10
Bet $7.50 Win, return $16.50
Prob 39.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why Won his last 2200m start on soft and has the fastest L600 and L400 in the race. The map is against him from barrier 7, but the form is the best on the card.
2. Abissi (No.1) — $3.30 / $1.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.20 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Rommeo (No.3) — $7.00 / $1.82
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.97x Steady since tip
Why Second at Ascot 2200m on soft earlier in the prep and up 2kg from last start. He's a midfield runner who needs a clean trip.
Roughie: Stylax (No.8) — $11.00 / $2.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Sits back and has the fastest time sectional on the card. His last run was a bumped, held up, slow start effort at Ascot 1600m, so if he gets a clear run he could be dangerous.
Race 3 – SGC Australia (Rs1mw)
Race type: Rest 1 Metro Win, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, and it's the only one on the card. Rock In Wonder is the lone leader from barrier 8, with Billionaire's Row and Acta Non Verba fighting for the trail. Masmelo is drawn in the back half and needs cover. The shape suits the forward runners, so the front-runners have the best of it and the pace should carry them into the straight.
Punty read: Vampi Queen is the one with the money. He's midfield from barrier 3 and the shape is against him, but he's won at Belmont Park 1600m last start and the sectionals are the fastest in the race. Clint Johnston-Porter rides him and D & B Pearce is in form. Masmelo is the danger if he can get a clear run, and Billionaire's Row has the trainer strike rate at this track to back him. Javelin Strike is the roughie who could steal a place from the middle.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Vampi Queen (No.5) — $2.74 / $1.35
Bet $10.50 Win, return $28.77
Prob 26.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why First at Belmont Park 1600m last start and the fastest L600 and L400 in the race. The pace shape hurts him from barrier 3, but the form is hard to dismiss.
2. Masmelo (No.1) — $5.20 / $1.72
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.4% | Place: 53.9% | Value: 1.16x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.72 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Billionaire's Row (No.4) — $5.70 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 45.7% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why Handy from barrier 5 and the trainer has a 23.9% strike rate at this track. He's a player if the leaders go hard.
Roughie: Javelin Strike (No.3) — $9.00 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.83x Steady since tip
Why Good 13:3-1-0 record and the fastest time sectional in the race. His last run was a medical issue at Ascot 1600m, so a clean run from barrier 2 could make him a fair pick for a placing.
Race 4 – PPS Water Group (Rs1mw)
Race type: Rest 1 Metro Win, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace. Prince Of Dala and Wolf Whistle Zel are the likeliest leaders, with Prince Of Dala from barrier 4 and Wolf Whistle Zel from barrier 2. The shape is kind to Prince Of Dala and hurts the back-markers, Rally The Troops and She's A Splinter.
Punty read: Prince Of Dala is the one with the money. He's sitting handy from barrier 4 and the map helps him. He's won 3 of 5 starts and two of his three at this trip are wins. Brad Parnham rides him and Lark Hill's 1050m run last start was a second. Marcos is the danger if the pace collapses, and Maalis Song is the one with a good record in tough races. Empire Of Rome is the roughie who could sneak into a placing.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Prince Of Dala (No.2) — $2.20 / $1.15
Bet $10.50 Win, return $23.10
Prob 34.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why Mapped to sit handy in a slow race and the shape helps him. He's been second and first in his prep and the trip suits.
2. Marcos (No.5) — $8.40 / $2.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.1% | Place: 36.9% | Value: 1.18x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.45 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Maalis Song (No.4) — $7.00 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.4% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why Back on the map and the market has come in on him. His last run was a fifth at Ascot 1200m.
Roughie: Empire Of Rome (No.8) — $10.00 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.88x Steady since tip
Why Won his Belmont Park 1400m start last time out, and he's a midfield runner who can run into a place if the leaders stall.
Race 5 – TABtouch - Westspeed Platinum Series Heat 2 (Rs0ly)
Race type: Rst 0 Met Win-LY, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, and this one is contested. Cosmic Treat from barrier 12 and Pat's Last Bang from barrier 8 both want the front. Beyond Measure is on the speed from barrier 10 and the shape helps him. Wicked Venom is the back-marker who needs the leaders to come back.
Punty read: Beyond Measure is the one with the money. He's sitting handy from barrier 10 and the map suits him. He won at Bunbury 1200m last start, although he was fifth at Ascot 1200m before that. Holly Watson rides him and the trainer P B Hunter is the one to back. Helluva Goddess and Ripper Farooq are both in the mix, with Ripper Farooq's record at this track the one to note. Soldier Of God is a horse to watch for the value.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Beyond Measure (No.5) — $3.90 / $1.70
Bet $15.00 Win, return $58.50
Prob 16.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.64x Steady since tip

Roughie: Wicked Venom (No.3) — $12.00 / $3.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 24.1% | Value: 0.69x Steady since tip
Why The shape hurts him, so he needs the leaders to fight and back up. He has 4 seconds on Ascot's track and a good trip could put him in a place.
Race 6 – Waroa - Fairetha Stakes
Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace. He's A Machino and Roger are the likeliest leaders, with He's A Machino from barrier 7 and Roger from barrier 2. Roger sits handy and the shape is against the midfield runners. Godspeed is the one most hurt by the shape.
Punty read: Beatty is the one with the money. He's midfield from barrier 4 and the shape is against him. He's won five of six starts and is the best in the race on form. Lucy F Fiore rides him, and his last two starts were wins. Roger is the danger if the speed holds up, and Godspeed can run into a placing. Swift Ruler is the roughie with the fastest sectionals in the race.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

Bet Tracked
Prob 4.3% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 0.70x Steady since tip

Race 7 – MC Equine Surfaces (Bm66+)
Race type: BenchMark 66+, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with two leaders in God's Gate and Ourgirlcanrun. Cruise To Victory and God's Gate are the ones helped most by the shape, and Ourgirlcanrun sits on the lead from barrier 6. Scully is the back-marker who needs the leaders to fight, and So Si God is midfield from barrier 11.
Punty read: Ourgirlcanrun is the one with the money. He's on the lead from barrier 6 and the shape helps him. He's 40.3% on the card's numbers and third at Ascot 1200m last run. Holly Watson rides him and the trainer Mitchell Pateman is in great form. Fast Harry and So Si God are the danger if the leaders get caught, with So Si God having won his Ascot 1200m start last time. Scully is the roughie who can come from the back.

Race 8 – Technical Mechanical Maintenance - Luckygray Stakes
Race type: Open, 1800m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, and nobody is clearly the leader on the card. Five runners are mapped to the front, so the speed is shared and the race could go in several directions. Aberdeen Flyer is a back-marker from barrier 3 who the shape helps. Ginger Baker and Royal Toronado are hurt most by the shape.
Punty read: Aberdeen Flyer is the one with the money. He's the shortest price on the card at $1.86 and the map suits him from barrier 3. He's been second at Northam 1600m and Ascot 1400m on soft. Chris Parnham rides him and the trainer S & J Casey is in good form. Memory Parade is the danger from the middle, and Forever Boy is the one with the tongue tie off. Punty read: King Of Light is the one with the money. He's seven wins from eight starts and four from four on soft. He's the best on the card and the shape is the only thing against him. Map & tempo: Moderate pace. Several horses are mapped to the front, with Ginnivan, Tycoon Harry and Capper Thirtynine all in the speed group. Hurricane Harley sits handy from barrier 10 and the shape helps him. Black Ora is a back-marker who needs the pace to come back to him.
Punty read: Hurricane Harley is the one with the money. He's sitting handy from barrier 10, which is a wide draw, but the shape helps him. He's won at Belmont Park 1200m and was second at Ascot 1200m last time before a seventh at Ascot 1400m. Natasha Faithfull rides him and the trainer Summer Dickson is in the frame. SEQUENCE LANES
EARLY QUADDIE (R3 to R6)
Smart: 5,1,4 / 2,6,4,5 / 1,5,2,3 / 1,4 (96 combos x $0.3646 = $35.00) -- 36.5% flexi
Punty's take: Race 3 and Race 4 are the tight legs with Vampi Queen and Prince Of Dala as the anchors. Race 5 is open and Race 6 is a two-horse race, so the ticket lives on the Race 5 chaos. The flexi is 38.9%, above the 30% floor, and this is a real ticket.
QUADDIE (R7 to R10)
Smart: 6,4,3 / 7,10,4,2 / 6,3 / 9,11,6,4 (96 combos x $0.3646 = $35.00) -- 36.5% flexi
Punty's take: Ourgirlcanrun in Race 7 is the tight leg, with Race 8 open and Race 9 and Race 10 more controlled. The flexi is 32.4%, above the 30% floor, so the payout depends on a longshot somewhere in the sequence.
BIG 6 (R5 to R10)
Smart: 1,5,2 / 1,4,5,3 / 6,4,3,11 / 7,10,4,2,6 / 6,3,8,7 / 9,11,6,4 (3840 combos x $0.001302 = $5.00) -- 0.13% flexi
Punty's take: Six legs and the risk is huge, with Race 8 the wide-open one. The flexi is 0.13%, above the 0.10% Big 6 floor, so it's an entertainment-only ticket and I'd treat it that way.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Gear change to watch in Race 10
Blinkers come off Black Ora for the first time, and he's been a first-up horse with three wins from four starts. The market has him at $12.00 and I can't see why he's that price.
2 - Ascot record stands out in Race 9
Watch Me Rock has nine wins from 13 starts at Ascot and is two from two at 54 to 57kg. That is a pattern the market hasn't priced in.
3 - Cheeky one for Race 9
Sentimental Hero is back from 146 days off and his market has drifted from $41.00 to $67.00. He has a 1st-up record of 8:3-0-1, which is a lot of first-up form for a horse at that price. I can't see why the market has walked away from him.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
Ascot is the place where the favourites get the kiss and the back-markers get the bill, so keep your stakes sensible and your mates honest. Hit the Big 3, have a drink with the mates, and let the Quaddie take you on the ride.
