1200m · Maiden; · 13:06
✓ WON +$20 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, with early pressure limited, midfield runners get first run at the finish
Punty read: Hank Honk's the obvious "gets every chance" type, but don't get complacent. Soft 5 makes 1200m tricky, if you're held up you lose the race without even knowing it. Hank's last-start excuse was all about being held up, so I'm expecting a clean run today. Prestige Hellbent has midfield map and decent sectionals profile, and the value swingers are Magna Sententia and Hold Sway if they get a gap at the right time.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Hank Honk (No.1) — $2.35 / $1.30 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$20.25
Prob 42.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why Slow tempo helps him sit safe, and last run had traffic trouble instead of form collapse.

2. Prestige Hellbent (No.5) — $4.20 / $1.75 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.8% | Place: 59.2% | Value: 1.03x
Why A real chance — but at $1.75 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Magna Sententia (No.4) — $15.50 / $3.20 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.0% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.35x
Why The value's there, but at $15.50 I'd rather see how the gaps ride before going full hero.

Roughie: Hold Sway (No.9) — $15.50 / $3.20 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.2% | Place: 30.7% | Value: 1.19x
Why If the speed goes soft and wide lanes come into play, he can run on and tag a place.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with Wyandra and others likely to be in the mix early
Punty read: This is a speed-map race disguised as a maiden. Wyandra's on-pace and has the best "I can hold position and still sprint" profile. Big Vee is the type that can bounce from an awkward recent run, while I'm Da Boss looks like a live threat if it gets even a decent strip of ground. The big watch is the inside on Soft 5, the leaders save metres, and metres at 1100m decide everything.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Wyandra (No.11) — $2.70 / $1.40 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 27.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.77x
Why On-pace map, Soft 5 doesn't scare it, and it should be one of the first to find the lane.

2. Big Vee (No.3) — $3.60 / $1.65 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.1% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.40x
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. I'm Da Boss (No.6) — $13.00 / $3.80 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.5% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.89x
Why If it gets to the right spot, it can press late, but it's not the one I want leading the charge.

Roughie: Enniscrone (No.4) — $16.00 / $3.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 1.19x
Why Long-ish odds, but if the leaders go a touch stale, this one's got the ceiling for a place.

R3
Walkers Earthworks Mdn Plate

✓ WON +$17 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, but enough pace for the right midfield runners to sprint clear
Punty read: Moving Point has that "nice run through, then tidy late" build. This isn't a race for horses that get stuck doing extra work in Soft 5. Dame Of Dubai is the main alternative, and His Lady Bay is there for a place crack if it nails the run without getting bogged. The danger for punters is overplaying one speed horse, because 1400m soft surfaces reward smart positioning, not just raw early dash.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Moving Point (No.12) — $2.30 / $1.32 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$16.90
Prob 41.4% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why It's set up for the right trip, and the pricing still leaves room for improvement.

2. Dame Of Dubai (No.7) — $4.80 / $1.90 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.76x

Roughie: Efreeti (No.2) — $16.00 / $4.00 🏆 9TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.6% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 1.07x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Restricted 56, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, and the Soft track will test who can keep doing it
Punty read: This one's about cruising into the race at the right time. Queen Amanjena and Youarenotalone both sit on-pacing maps, and that matters in a tempo that's actually going somewhere. Parkrun's in the midfield but the run style can suit, especially if the front pair kick on just enough to set up a stalker's sprint. Triomphe's the rougher, and Artpark is lurking if the race gets messy.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Queen Amanjena (No.9) — $4.20 / $1.75 🏆 10TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 21.4% | Place: 58.6% | Value: 1.12x
Why On-pace profile with the fitness to match the tempo, and the market says it's live.

2. Youarenotalone (No.3) — $6.50 / $2.40 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.27x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 70, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with the added Soft factor rewarding those with range through
Punty read: Geffina is the big anchor for mine, because it looks like it can sit just off the speed without needing the perfect run. Shamex offers the value angle and should get into it late with that kind of profile. Brung King is the type that can run for a place if the tempo shifts, but at the prices, you want the ones that can actually win through the line.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

✗ MISS -$4 Final

Race type: Benchmark 70, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, on-pace horses get first dibs at the finish line
Punty read: Yukaina's the cleanest "lead and last" type on the map, and that matters more than people think on Soft 5. Magnabelle Royale is the standout value type if the leader tires or gets shuffled back. Flying Embers is quick enough, but the price tells you you're paying for a good trip. Pure Passion is your classic roughie swing if the leaders don't kick on.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Yukaina (No.7) — $3.10 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — Cashed, net -$4.12
Prob 24.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.92x

2. Magnabelle Royale (No.3) — $4.80 / $1.80 🏆 10TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.2% | Place: 54.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

Bet Tracked
Prob 14.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.64x

Race type: Open, 2200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, staying class wins, but position still decides who's finishing fresh
Punty read: Vegas Jack is a grinder with the right profile, but Grand Pierro is the value play I can't ignore. 2200m Soft track punting is all about not getting trapped too far back, because once you're stuck behind, you're racing a handicap all by yourself. Tikemyson can run well if the tempo stays low and the field strings out, and Aftermath is there for a late show if runners drop off.

Race type: Restricted 56, 2200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, but Soft 2200 punishes bad position hard
Punty read: Phantom's Chase is the pick for me because it maps well and has the kind of run style that's meant for this distance. Coastal Whispers is a shorter price than it should be and can still be dangerous, but I'm backing the one that looks like it can be placed perfectly and then sprint late without dying. Black Rutile is a top-three threat if it gets clear air.

Top 3 + Roughie ($3.50 pool)

1. Phantom's Chase (No.2) — $5.50 / $2.15 🏆 9TH

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Hamilton on a Soft 5 is basically a plate of spaghetti in wet weather, and half the field will try to run through it anyway. The rail's out, the air's got teeth, and you can feel the early races heading towards that "cover up, then pounce late" vibe. If you're betting like it's a Fast track, you're gonna get done like a tourist at an AFL final.

This card's got a stack of speed sitting behind the leaders, so I'm hunting for horses that can hold position without getting mailed by the slick. In maiden and midweek grade, barrier, maps and "what gear they're wearing to solve the problem" matter heaps, especially when it's soft enough to turn every mistake into extra ground. My spine today is built on three short-ish prices that should get every chance, and then we spice it with one roughie type swing where the value looks properly cooked for the price tag.

If you're chasing value without going full degenerate, stick with the lanes, keep your ticket sane, and let the track do the rest. If you're chasing chaos, well… come sit closer, legends.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Hamilton, 1200-2200m card
Rail: Out 2m 900m - 400m, True Remainder
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Leaders to Hit The Line)
Weather: Possible shower, 16°C, gusty NW (watch for "slippery starts", runners that can settle)
Early lane guess: Locked from the inside, wider lanes for the hit-men late

Tempo profile: Slow pace on paper, but Soft 5 makes it "slow early, then chaos at the finish" fast.
Jockeys to follow:
Dean Yendall: busy today, and he's got the kind of riding that keeps you in the race when the track turns ordinary
Jake Noonan: reliable under pressure, and he'll be doing the real work with the speed
Will Gordon: clean hands, often finds position, and if the leaders break, he's there to pick up the pieces
Stables to respect:
P A Preusker (6 runners): keeps targets honest on softer tracks, and has enough runners to make a day out of it
Symon Wilde (6 runners): often brings them with a proper plan, especially when market support looks sharp
Aaron Purcell (5 runners): the late-finish types show up when the surface gets sticky

Punty's take:

Hamilton's Soft 5 is giving "get around them early, then let the sprint lane open" energy. The rail's out from the long run, so those inside hops can save ground, but with gusts up, you still want jockeys that can keep the horse balanced, especially at the starts where everyone's scrambling for footing.

In the opener and the next couple, I'm siding with the map profiles. When the speed map says "on-pace" or "leader", it's usually code for "you'll get first look at the finishing lane." The value on today's card isn't coming from random blowouts, it's coming from horses that get a better run than their odds suggest, plus a couple of runners wearing gear for a reason, like it's a mission briefing.

There's also a big theme in the cup-type races, where staying power gets exposed. If you're back-markering on Soft 5 at 2200m, you'd better be real, because you'll eat the ground and then wear it like a backpack full of bricks.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive where the pace and draw line up, especially in the early legs where the card's cleaner and the "who's most likely to be in the right spot" factor matters. Your banker chances today are the ones that look set to get a perfect run, not just the ones that are short because they're popular.

For value, I'm not chasing a $100 lotto. I'm chasing overlays where the horse looks like it's going to be on the scene, then gets underestimated. That's how you get a return that feels like you stole it, not like you donated to the TAB.

In sequences, I'm mixing it up: a skinny Early Quaddie that stays sensible, then a balanced main Quaddie lane, then a Wide Big 6 lane if you feel like living a little. Either way, don't forget, Soft 5 punting is about run-trouble protection. If you can get cover, you can get paid.
