This meeting's got Heavy 10 written all over it, which means the race tempo is gonna be more "mud march" than "rollercoaster". When the ground is heavy like this, the winners are the ones that can hold their straight line, keep grinding, and not waste energy. You know, like me when I realise I've underestimated the track again.

Speed matters, but position matters more. If you're sitting wide early on a heavy surface, you're spending extra currency for no benefit. So I'm going where the map and the market both have a bit of a say, and I'm paying special attention to horses that look like they'll get a genuine chance to hit the line with something left.

This is a slog over 2000m in Heavy 10. With a slow tempo, the race turns into a position contest, and the horse that can stay balanced and come with its run late will get first crack at the line. Teleost is the standout for me because it matches the "grind to the finish" profile, and it's backed like someone expects it to go close.

Facilitate and One Bold Floozie are the obvious dangers for your wallet. Facilitate looks like it can hang in on the heavy and not get knocked out too early, and One Bold Floozie is the kind that's often still there when the race starts to fall apart.

Laura's Legacy is the one that looks like it's got both the speed profile and the right kind of class for the mud. Roc All Night is the second logical threat if it can land closer than last time, and Falcrests Belle has the Heavy track look to keep grinding without exploding.
