Rightio Form Freaks, Dalby on a Soft 7 with the rail out 2m through the 600 to 200 run and true on the remainder, and the card is a proper mixed bag. Eight races, 1000m to 1400m, and most of it is moderate pace with nobody wanting to lead outright. Grab a cold one, read the shapes, and let's get into it.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Dalby, 1000m to 1400m card
Rail: +2m 600-200, True remainder
Official going: Soft 7 (Rainfall: Nil last 24hrs, 17mm last 7 days)
Weather: Fine, live gusts 16.7km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Mostly moderate pace on the paper. Races 4 and 7 are genuine pace with a single leader, Race 6 has two leaders fighting for the front, and the rest will be run at a standard pace with the speed fighting for the sit.
Jockeys to follow:
Jess Emmerson: 8 rides today, including Grinzinger Knight in Race 7 and Bate in Race 8. She has a lot of the day in her hands.
William Galloway: 7 rides, with Chop Chop Go in Race 3 and Drialle in Race 6 both on the lead-ish side of the card.
Kenji Yoshida: 7 rides, and his Race 4 and Race 7 rides sit in the genuine-pace races where the early speed will matter.
Stables to respect:
Corey & Kylie Geran (8 runners): I Am Pietra in Race 5, Galway Hussler in Race 4 and Lustful Belle in Race 3 give them a spread across the card, and their Chop Chop Go style barrier and sit numbers look strong in the day's soft conditions.
Ravyn Warzecha (6 runners): War Too All in Race 5, Botanica in Race 6 and Jakebrake in Race 8 are the three I'd be watching.
R T Hay (5 runners): Nuts 'n' Bolts in Race 1, Serial Offender in Race 2 and Lonergy in Race 7 are the runners to respect.

Punty's take: Dalby today is a card of two halves. The early part is a bunch of moderate-pace races where nobody wants to lead outright, and that means the sit-handy runners are going to be the ones who win. Race 1 is the one where the speed is clearly sorted, with Speedy One from barrier 2 the likeliest horse to find the front and Terambi from barrier 5 not far behind. Race 2 is a mess on the speed map, Mr Evans, Booya Boy, Serial Offender and Bee Two all want the front, and that's a race where the shape gives Mr Evans a real chance to sit and pounce. Race 3 is the one that looks like a banker in the making if the favourite holds his nerve, but the chaos is real below him. Race 4 and Race 7 are the genuine-pace races with a lone leader, and that's where the closers start licking their lips. Race 5 is a handful of runners all with decent claims, and Race 6 has two leaders, Drialle and Botanica, who have to fight it out from barriers 9 and 10. The stables that stand out are Corey & Kylie Geran with eight runners, who have depth all over the card, and Ravyn Warzecha, whose trio of runners across the back half of the day gives them plenty of options.

What it means for you: Be aggressive in the Race 1 sit-handy profile, with Speedy One the horse to get on and protect the rest with a sensible spread. Race 3 looks like the best bet of the day on a win-only basis, with Chop Chop Go backed on the win line, but I'd be cautious of stacking too many on the chaos legs. Race 4 and Race 7 are where the value sits for a bit of spice, and Race 8 has enough class in the field to warrant a closer look. Race 5 and Race 6 are chaos races, so keep the stakes controlled and let the sequences do the heavy lifting.

PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI

These are the three bets the day leans on.

1 - Speedy One (Race 1, No.1) — $2.80
Why Gets the sit from barrier 2 in a moderate-pace race where nobody else is in a hurry to take the lead, and the two-up and first-up records on the card speak for him.
2 - Chop Chop Go (Race 3, No.1) — $2.25
Why The pace shape helps him from barrier 7 in a Maiden with a moderate pace, and the trainer is running hot at the moment.
3 - Warilla Gorilla (Race 4, No.3) — $4.40
Why Sits handy from barrier 2 in a genuine-pace race with a lone leader in front of him, and the shape really suits his style.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 27.72 = $277.20

RACE-BY-RACE

Race 1 – Wheatmen Old Boys Club

Race type: Benchmark 65, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace on paper, with nobody on the map to lead outright. Speedy One from barrier 2 is the likeliest to find the front and Terambi from barrier 5 is the other one who'll be pushing. Manhattan Thunder and the back-half runners are the ones who need the speed to fall over, and they're drawn to need cover.
Punty read: Speedy One is the one I'm putting money on, and the case is simple. He's a sit-handy horse from barrier 2 in a race where the pace is moderate and nobody else is in a hurry to take the lead. His 2nd-up record is 3:3-0-0, he's a solid soft-going horse at 2:0-1 on soft, and the market has him at the front of the pack. Terambi is the danger if he gets a soft lead, and I'm Lucky Two from barrier 7 will be asked to sit forward. Manhattan Thunder from the back is the one who needs it to fall apart, and Panigale has the 1.40 factor if the pace is kind to the midfield. This is a race where the sit and the first-up data does the talking.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Speedy One (No.1) — $2.90 / $1.35
Bet $15.00 Win, return $43.50
Prob 30.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.88x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 2 in a moderate-pace race, with the 2nd-up record and a soft-going 2:0-1 line that says he's comfortable in these conditions.
2. I'm Lucky Two (No.7) — $3.20 / $1.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.4% | Place: 58.0% | Value: 0.62x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Manhattan Thunder (No.6) — $5.00 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why Bandages off first time and a last start that was the 2nd at Taroom, he's a horse with a strong closing record who can come from the back if the front gets hot.
Roughie: Panigale (No.8) — $10.00 / $2.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.3% | Place: 28.6% | Value: 0.64x Steady since tip
Why Panigale rates a 1.40 map factor from midfield, and he's won once from nine on soft, so if the pace is genuinely moderate and the leaders fold, he can run into a nice spot off a midfield trip.

Race 2 – Ma McVeigh AG

Race type: Benchmark 55, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with six runners on the map to lead, so this is going to be a bunch of speed horses fighting for the front. Mr Evans from barrier 4 and Serial Offender from barrier 5 are the ones who get a handy sit, and Watch This One from barrier 11 has to work to cross. Hold My Hand is midfield from barrier 12 and the shape is against him, but that's not the whole story.
Punty read: Hold My Hand is the bet, and the case is about the sit and the jockey. The midfield map and the 0.85 factor are a real negative, and I'm not hiding that. But he's got a combo with his jockey at 50% from four rides, a trainer running at 12.3% at Dalby with a L100 of 20%, and his last start was a 2nd at Toowoomba 1210m. Watch This One has come into the market hard with blinkers on for the first time, and Mr Evans has the best sit on the card if the leaders stall. The roughie Ocean Joy has the fastest closing sectionals on the card if the race comes home at speed.

Top 3 + Roughie ($9.50 pool)

1. Hold My Hand (No.10) — $4.20 / $1.70
Bet $9.50 Win, return $39.90
Prob 15.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.64x Steady since tip
Why The shape is against him from barrier 12, but his jockey and trainer combo is a 50% strike rate from four rides, and his last start was a 2nd at Toowoomba. He can win from the back of the field if the early speed collapses.
2. Watch This One (No.8) — $5.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Mr Evans (No.2) — $6.00 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 4 with the pace shape helping him, and his distance record of 6:5-4 in the 1000m group speaks for itself.
Roughie: Ocean Joy (No.15) — $11.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.73x Steady since tip
Why He's a backmarker and the map has him at a 0.63 factor, so he needs the leaders to fold badly. His closing sectionals are the fastest on the card, and the market has come in from $18.00 to $11.00, so there's some money behind him.

Race 3 – Book Your Christmas Parties

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with three runners on the map to lead, Chop Chop Go from barrier 7, Mishani Senorita from barrier 1 and Theboogeyman from barrier 15. Chop Chop Go's shape is helped at 1.20 and he gets a handy sit. Several back-half runners need cover and that's a real problem in a field that's this wide at the back.
Punty read: Chop Chop Go is the bet, and it's a simple one. He's the pace-helped runner from barrier 7 in a maiden where the leaders are spread across the card, and his trainer Renita Beaton has been running hot with a L100 of 17%. He's short at $2.25 for a reason, but a $2.25 shot with a sit and a shape in his favour is the sort of bet the day leans on. Mishani Senorita is the danger on the speed from barrier 1. Proffer from midfield and Lustful Belle from barrier 12 are the closers who'll need the front to fall over.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Chop Chop Go (No.1) — $2.30 / $1.30
Bet $15.00 Win, return $34.50
Prob 24.5% | Place: 62.6% | Value: 0.56x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 7 with the pace shape helping him, and the trainer's hot run with a L100 of 17% shows the stable is firing. The last start was a 4th at Gold Coast Poly with interference.
2. Mishani Senorita (No.5) — $3.40 / $1.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.54x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.57 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Proffer (No.14) — $4.20 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.52x Steady since tip
Why Sectionals with the fastest L400 in the field, and a last-start 6th at Gatton that puts him in the mix at a decent price.
Roughie: Staffo (No.6) — $9.00 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.87x Steady since tip
Why Staffo's L600 is the fastest in the race and his L400 is ranked second. If the speed collapses and the closers get clear running, he's the one who can come from the back of a field that's wide at the rear.

Race 4 – Australian Country Choice

Race type: Open, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Galway Hussler the only leader from barrier 4, and the nearest pressure comes from Coin Toss, Milton Road, Warilla Gorilla and This Is One. Milton Road from barrier 6 and Warilla Gorilla from barrier 2 both sit handy, and the shape helps them. This Is One and Russian Sub from barrier 9 and 8 must work wide to get across.
Punty read: Warilla Gorilla is the bet. He's a handy sit from barrier 2 in a genuine-pace race with a lone leader, and the shape helps him at 1.40. He's won three times from thirteen starts on the card and the trainer is at 15.9% with a L100 of 18%. The danger is Milton Road, who's a first-up specialist with 4:4-0-1 record and gets the same handy trip. Coin Toss is the closer who'll need the front to fold, and Galway Hussler up front has had a rough run of finishes so he's a risk on the lead.

Top 3 + Roughie ($6.00 pool)

1. Warilla Gorilla (No.3) — $4.40 / $1.82
Bet $6.00 Win, return $26.40
Prob 21.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 2 with the shape helping him, and his Dalby 800m last start was a win. He's a horse who likes to be close to the speed in genuine pace.
2. Milton Road (No.2) — $6.00 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.12x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Coin Toss (No.1) — $7.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.6% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why A tongue tie off again and a last start that was an 8th at Doomben after a slow start, so he's an excuse horse who could come back into it if the front-runners tire.
Roughie: Miss De Medici (No.10) — $9.50 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 29.1% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers off first time and sectionals that are the fastest on the card at L600 and L400. If the leaders run themselves into the ground, she has the late burst to run into the money.

Race 5 – 2026 "C" Grade Champions

Race type: Benchmark 50, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with eight runners on the map to lead, so the speed is spread wide across the field. Entitle from barrier 11, Mud 'n' Blood from barrier 13 and War Too All from barrier 12 are all drawn wide and must work to cross. Hawaiian Bloom from barrier 1 has the easiest run of the speed horses.
Punty read: I Am Pietra is the bet, and I'm backing him each way because he's in a race where the shape is against him from midfield and barrier 9 at 0.63. The case is his form and the value. He's 1:1 second-up and the last start was a 4th at Talwood with interference. Hawaiian Bloom is the speed horse who's been backed from $3.50 and has a sit from barrier 1. Our Warrior from barrier 7 is the closer who has the best sectionals on this card. Life Of Tree at $12.00 is the roughie who can put his foot in if the front-runners are stopped.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)

1. I Am Pietra (No.10) — $5.50 / $2.00
Bet $10.00 Each Way ($5.00W + $5.00P), collects $37.50 if it wins ($27.50 win + $10.00 place), $10.00 if it only places
Prob 14.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why The shape is against him from barrier 9, but he ran second at Eidsvold 1200m last start and finished fourth at Talwood with interference. The market has come in from $7.00 to $5.00, and I'm not ignoring that.
2. Hawaiian Bloom (No.3) — $3.60 / $1.62
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.49x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Our Warrior (No.5) — $7.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.1% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 7 with the shape helping him, and his last start was a 2nd at Stanthorpe 1200m. The market has come in from $12.00 to $7.00 and that's a bit of money behind him.
Roughie: Life Of Tree (No.12) — $12.00 / $3.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 31.1% | Value: 0.85x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 6 in a race that suits him, and he's one second from six starts on soft. Tongue tie back on and winkers off, and the market has come in from $16.00 to $12.00.

Race 6 – WR Cranes

Race type: Benchmark 62, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with Drialle from barrier 9 and Botanica from barrier 10 both on the map to lead, so it's a contested lead on the card. The two of them will fight for the front, and that hands the sit to So You Can Torque. Snugg from barrier 7 settles back and needs the leaders to tire.
Punty read: Snugg is the bet, and the shape is against him at 0.76. Backmarkers on a moderate pace are never going to be easy, but he's a 3rd at Ipswich last start with a L600 and L400 both ranked second, and his distance record is 5:3-0-1. Drialle has the lead and the 1.34 shape in his favour, and he's the danger if he gets clear. Standlee from barrier 2 is the one most likely to be running on at the finish. Bitoftheblarney at $10.00 is the roughie on the soft ground with 20 starts and five seconds.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Snugg (No.5) — $3.60 / $1.62
Bet $10.50 Win, return $37.80
Prob 18.7% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why The shape is against him from barrier 7 at 0.76, but his last start was a 3rd at Ipswich and his sectionals are ranked second at both L600 and L400. The market has firmed from $4.00 to $3.50, so the money is behind him.
2. Standlee (No.4) — $5.50 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.0% | Place: 54.0% | Value: 0.99x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Drialle (No.1) — $4.50 / $1.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.0% | Place: 44.3% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why He's a lead horse from barrier 9 and a 1st at Kilcoy 1500m last start, and he's won three from seven on soft. The shape helps him, but the contested lead with Botanica makes him a risk to hang on.
Roughie: Bitoftheblarney (No.7) — $11.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.0% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why Twenty starts on soft with one win and five seconds is a horse who handles the wet and has a fast time sectional. The market drifted from $8.00 to $10.00, so the price is there if the speed collapses.

Race 7 – Windsor Hotel Country Cup Challenge Qualifier

Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Harlequin Field the only leader from barrier 13, and he's drawn wide. The nearest pressure comes from Grinzinger Knight from barrier 3, Villaden from barrier 1 and Cardiologist from barrier 10. Grinzinger Knight settles handy and is in the mix for the trail, and the shape helps the handy runners.
Punty read: Grinzinger Knight is the bet, and it's an each-way bet because I'd rather protect the place than chase the win. He's a handy sit from barrier 3 in a genuine-pace race with a lone leader wide in the gate, and his form is solid with a 3rd at Eidsvold 1350m and a 1st at Toowoomba Inner 925m last start. Villaden from barrier 1 and Cardiologist from barrier 10 are the danger if the pace holds, and Lonergy is the closer who could run into the money if the front collapses.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Grinzinger Knight (No.1) — $4.20 / $1.72
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $44.40 if it wins ($31.50 win + $12.90 place), $12.90 if it only places
Prob 17.6% | Place: 52.4% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 3 with the pace shape helping him, and his last start was a 3rd at Eidsvold 1350m. The market has drifted from $3.20 to $3.90, so the place is the safer way to back him.
2. Villaden (No.2) — $6.50 / $2.25
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.4% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.94x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Cardiologist (No.5) — $3.40 / $1.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.40x Steady since tip
Why A 1st at Charleville 1625m last start with his trainer and jockey combo at 60% from five rides. He's a horse with the class edge to be running on at the finish.
Roughie: Knowitall Frank (No.14) — $9.00 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 0.65x Steady since tip
Why Midfield from barrier 8 with a 4:6-1 career record, and the market has come in from $13.00 to $9.00. He's a horse with a closing kick, but his jockey booking in Race 6 is a question mark.

Race 8 – Graincott Farming Co Hcp

Race type: Class 1, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with eight runners on the map to lead, so the speed is spread across the card. Express Star from barrier 12 is drawn wide and must work to get across, and the shape is against him at 0.85. Life Of Tree, Jakebrake and My Shalona all want the front, and that creates a fight for the lead.
Punty read: Express Star is the bet, and the shape is against him, but he has the form and the market support. His win rate with his jockey is 15.3% and his trainer Donna Stanbridge is at 8.7% with a L100 of 7%. He's been backed from $4.60 to $3.50, and that's the sort of move that tells you there's money behind him. Royal Diplomat from barrier 10 and Bate from barrier 9 are the handy runners who sit closest to the speed, and Southoftheborder at $11.00 is the closer who can get into the finish if the early speed folds.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Express Star (No.6) — $3.80 / $1.62
Bet $10.50 Win, return $39.90
Prob 17.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.65x Steady since tip
Why Wide gate from barrier 12 is a problem, but his last starts were 4th at Stanthorpe 1400m and 3rd at Kilcoy 1500m, and he's been backed from $4.60 to $3.50 with the market leaning his way.
2. Royal Diplomat (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.55x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.80 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Bate (No.1) — $4.80 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.61x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 9 and his last start was a 4th at Beaudesert 1650m after a slow start. He's had a 1st at Ipswich 1350m in his last three, so there's a good case for a return to form.
Roughie: Southoftheborder (No.14) — $11.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy from barrier 7 with the shape helping him, and the market has come in from $16.00 to $11.00. His L600 is ranked second and his time is the fastest on the card, so he's a closer who can run into the money.

SEQUENCE LANES

EARLY QUADDIE (R1–R4)

Smart: 1,7,6 / 10,8,2,15 / 1,5,14,6 / 3,2,1,10 (192 combos x $0.33854 = $65.00) -- 33.9% flexi
Punty's take: Race 1 is tight with Speedy One the banker-ish horse and the other two legs open. Race 2 and Race 3 are the chaos legs, so the ticket leans on width there. Flexi floor is 30% and this clears it at 33.9%, a solid play with a modest hit rate.

QUADDIE (R5–R8)

Smart: 10,3,5,12 / 5,4,1,7 / 1,5,2,14 / 1,6,4,14 (256 combos x $0.3125 = $80.00) -- 31.2% flexi
Punty's take: Every leg is open, so this is a chaos ticket with a high outlay for a lottery-style return. Flexi floor is 30% and it clears at 31.2%. Entertainment with a real payout if a $5 to $10 winner lands in one of the four legs.

BIG 6 (R3–R8)

Smart: 1,5,14,6 / 3,2,1,10 / 10,3,5,12 / 5,4,1,7 / 1,5,2,14 / 1,6,4,14 (4096 combos x $0.00122 = $5.00) -- 0.12% flexi
Punty's take: Six legs of open races, and the hit rate is in the single digits, so treat this one as entertainment only. Flexi floor for the Big 6 is 0.10% and this clears it at 0.12%, but this is a flutter for the sheer fun of it.

NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK

1 - Blinkers off for Hawaiian Bloom
Blinkers come off first time for No.3 Hawaiian Bloom in Race 5. He's running a 2nd-up record of 2:0-0-0 and was 8th at Beaudesert last start after a slow beginning, so the gear change is the one to watch.

2 - War Too All's first-up record
Concussion plates and a nasal strip go on first time for No.8 War Too All in Race 5, after 132 days off. He has a first-up record of 7:2-0-2, which is the kind of record that says he's ready to go.

3 - Jinglejingle Bells is 225 days off
