Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Kembla Grange, head to https://punty.ai/tips/kembla-grange-2026-11-03
Rightio Degenerates, Kembla Grange is on a Good 4 with a fine arvo, gusts up to 22.2km/h and a rain risk of 40%-plus creeping in around 5pm and 8pm, so keep one eye on the sky. The card runs 1000m to 1600m across eight races, and the speed is nicely spread out. Race 1 and Race 2 are where the bankers live, Race 3 and Race 5 are slow-pace grinds that could go anywhere, and the back half is a proper brawl. Grab a coffee, sharpen the pencil, and let's get into it.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Kembla Grange, 1000m to 1600m card
Rail: +7m 1100m-W/Post, +6m Remainder
Official going: Good 4 (Nil last 24hrs, 0.5mm last 7 days)
Weather: Fine, live gusts 22.2km/h, rain risk 40%+ at 17:00 and 20:00
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Race 1, Race 2 and Race 6 are Genuine Pace. Race 4, Race 7 and Race 8 are Moderate. Race 3 and Race 5 are Slow. Race 1 has a lone leader, Race 2 has My Star out front alone, and Race 7 and Race 8 have two fighting for the lead.
Jockeys to follow:
Adam Farragher: Seven rides today, including Sonnig in Race 5 and Mountain Queen in Race 4, so he's got a hand in the middle of the card.
Chad Lever: Seven rides, and Autumn Flyer in Race 4 is the one I'm watching closest from his book.
Keagan Latham: Seven rides, with Century Song in Race 8 the standout for me.
Stables to respect:
R & L Price (7 runners): Three runners in Race 7 and Century Song in Race 8, so they've got real depth on the card.
Annabel & Rob Archibald (6 runners): Thyme To Go in Race 6 and Siragusa in Race 7 are the pair that matter most.
Ross McConville (5 runners): Titian Highlight, Point In Time and D'arizza in Race 3 give them a stack in the slow-pace race.
Punty's take: This is a meeting where the pace sorts the men from the boys. Race 1 is the one with a clear leader in Mazemblard, but it's a 151-dollar roughie leading a field where the two I like are both sitting behind him. Magic Blaze is the one with the sectional muscle, fastest L400 and fastest time on the card's sheet for that race, and he's sitting midfield waiting for the speed to set itself up. Race 2 looks like the banker, with My Star the only leader and War Banner drawn well enough to get a trip. Race 3 and Race 5 are the slow ones, and that's where I get nervous, because a slow-pace race rewards the horse who finds the trail and settles, and nobody should be jumping on the favourite there without a second thought. Race 7 and Race 8 are where the speed fights start, so the leaders will be going hard early. Race 4 is wide open too, with three horses all settling behind a slow-run contest. Race 6 is the chaos race, with a 15-runner field and an open lead, so it's where the boring favourite could get rolled. Race 8 has a proper pace duel, but Century Song from the back is the one I'm happy to take on.
What it means for you: Be aggressive in Race 2 and Race 1 because the speed sits where the numbers say it will. Protect your bankroll in Race 3, Race 5, Race 6 and Race 7, where the field is wide and the shape is loaded against the best-priced favourites. The value sits with the outsiders who can get a trip, not the ones who just happen to be short in the market. Stick with the Big 3 and keep your tickets tight, because the quaddie is a wide-open animal and you don't need to be chasing a dream on it.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Magic Blaze (Race 1, No.2) — $1.85
Why Fastest L400 and fastest time on the card's sectionals, sitting midfield from barrier 5 in a race where the expected pace helps him, and nothing in the field wants to cross the leader.
2 - Dashing Triple (Race 3, No.3) — $2.40
Why Sectionals rank 2 for both L400 and time, and he's been well placed in his last two starts, so the slow pace is a hurdle but his finishing kick is there to find the gap.
3 - War Banner (Race 2, No.6) — $1.80
Why Three straight wins on the Extended Form (1st at Rosehill and Warwick Farm), tongue tie on for the first time, and he draws barrier 1 for a race where My Star is the only leader.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 7.99 = $79.90
Race 1 – Jansz Mdn Plate
Race type: MAIDEN, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace on paper, with Mazemblard the only leader from barrier 1. Chumpakidd from barrier 7 has to work to cross and will sit handy behind him, so the leader will be pressured early. Magic Blaze is sitting midfield with the shape in his favour, and I like him to get a sit into the straight. Zourrific from the back needs the speed to hold up over the trip.
Punty read: Magic Blaze is the bet here, the favourite with the best sectionals and the right shape. Mazemblard at $151.00 is the leader, but at that price he's a risk, not a bet. Chumpakidd has visors on for the first time and can't be discounted from a handy spot. Zourrific has blinkers on for the first time and comes from the back with a sectional rank of 2 for L400. Volcanic Activity is the roughie in a race where the field has few proven runners.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Magic Blaze (No.2) — $1.85 / $1.07
Bet $15.00 Win, return $27.75
Prob 43.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Fastest L400 and fastest time on the sectionals, and the shape helps him from midfield. He's the one nothing wants to cross.
2. Zourrific (No.6) — $3.50 / $1.37
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.37 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Parisian Heiress (No.7) — $7.50 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.75x Steady since tip
Why Jean Van Overmeire has a strong strike rate here, and the combo with this trainer has a 21.1% record. She's got an each-way look but nothing more.
Roughie: Volcanic Activity (No.9) — $10.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Mitchell Bell and the Annabel and Rob Archibald stable combo at 21.5%, drawn to the outside but with a stable that knows how to get runners home from the back.
Race 2 – Snap Printing Wollongong Mdn Hcp
Race type: MAIDEN, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, with My Star the only leader from barrier 6. Be More Pacific and Cathedral Cove are the ones chasing from behind him, so the pace should be steady enough. Brutal Advance and Sacred Vow from barrier 8 and 10 are back-half runners who need the cover to come through, so the wide draws are a problem for them.
Punty read: War Banner is the bet at the top of the market. He's won his last three starts on the Extended Form, and he's the horse who gets the shortest path from barrier 1. Brutal Advance has the sectional form but draws wide. Sacred Vow is a back-half runner who has to come from a long way. Guest Speaker comes in on blinkers and lugging bit for the first time, a bit of a wildcard. Cathedral Cove is an interesting one because she's got visors and nose roll off for the first time today.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. War Banner (No.6) — $1.80 / $1.07
Bet $15.00 Win, return $27.00
Prob 33.4% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.60x Steady since tip
Why Three straight wins on the Extended Form and a barrier 1 draw. He can jump, settle and sit on the rail with the one horse who could challenge him for the early lead.
2. Brutal Advance (No.2) — $5.50 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.9% | Place: 50.6% | Value: 0.82x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Sacred Vow (No.7) — $6.00 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.86x Steady since tip
Why Sectionals rank 2 for L400 and fastest time from the back, and the Jean Van Overmeire and Michael Freedman combo at 23.1% is a serious one.
Roughie: Guest Speaker (No.5) — $14.00 / $2.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.9% | Place: 33.6% | Value: 1.10x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers and lugging bit both new today, and Rory Hutchings with C J Waller is a combo that can find a trip. It's a roughie that needs the front pair to fight.
Race 3 – Win Network Midway Mdn Plate
Race type: MAIDEN, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace and nobody maps to lead or sit handy. That means the race will be a sprint from the back, with horses needing to find the trail and make ground late. Acknowledge Me from barrier 10 is the one who has to be cute to get a sit, and Dashing Triple sits back from barrier 4 where the shape is against him.
Punty read: Dashing Triple is the bet, but the shape is against him in a slow race. What wins it anyway: his L400 and time sectionals are both rank 2, winkers and ear muffs are on for the first time, and Louis Beuzelin knows how to get a horse to the line. Machrihanish is the one who gets the sit off the pace with blinkers on for the first time. Ballinvir is a dual acceptor, so only the runner in this race counts here. Titian Highlight has been dropped out of the market and is a long-shot with a lot of ground to make.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Dashing Triple (No.3) — $2.40 / $1.25
Bet $13.00 Win, return $31.20
Prob 40.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.98x Steady since tip
Why Sectionals rank 2 for L400 and time, and he's been running second and in the frame on the Extended Form. Winkers and ear muffs are on for the first time, and Louis Beuzelin rides him.
2. Machrihanish (No.7) — $4.20 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.6% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.70x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Ballinvir (No.1) — $4.40 / $1.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.59x Steady since tip
Why Keagan Latham rides and nose band goes on for the first time. He's a dual acceptor, so the ride is only in this race as the data shows.
Roughie: Acknowledge Me (No.6) — $10.00 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why Winkers go on for the first time and he's fastest time in the sectionals. Jeff Penza rides him from barrier 10 in a slow race, so he needs the speed to fall over the top of him.
Race 4 – Henry Clive Bar Hcp (C1)
Race type: CLASS 1, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with no single lead. Barbarossa from barrier 4, Heard Of Him from barrier 2 and Tiger Turf from barrier 8 are the three likely to fight for the front. Barbarossa gets the shape with a 1.18 map factor, so he's the one to find the pace. Autumn Flyer settles back from barrier 1 where the shape is against him, but he's got a rated 2nd on the Extended Form, and Star Half sits midfield.
Punty read: Autumn Flyer is the bet, an each-way on a horse I'm happy to take because the price looks fair. Heard Of Him has the speed to run at the front and is a real danger. Star Half is sitting midfield with a sectional rank of 2 for L600 and fastest on L400. Barbarossa is a danger with the pace shape in his favour, and Tiger Turf is a horse to watch. Bulla Vinaka at $29.00 is the roughie with a Good 16 record of 1 win and 4 seconds, which is a real feature of his profile.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Autumn Flyer (No.3) — $4.80 / $1.65
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P), collects $41.93 if it wins ($31.20 win + $10.73 place), $10.73 if it only places
Prob 20.4% | Place: 60.3% | Value: 0.98x Steady since tip
Why Chad Lever on the ride, a rated 2nd at Kembla Grange on the Extended Form, and sectional rank 3 on L600 and L400 with fastest time. He's from the back in a moderate race, so he needs the front pair to tire.
2. Heard Of Him (No.4) — $3.50 / $1.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.9% | Place: 55.5% | Value: 0.70x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Star Half (No.2) — $5.50 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.6% | Place: 53.6% | Value: 1.02x Steady since tip
Why Sectionals rank 2 for L600 and fastest on L400, and a 1st on the Extended Form at Newcastle. Louis Beuzelin rides, so he's got a proper jockey.
Roughie: Bulla Vinaka (No.7) — $29.00 / $3.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.6% | Place: 16.7% | Value: 0.75x Steady since tip
Why Good record of 1 win, 4 seconds and 3 thirds from 16 starts. If the front pair goes flat out, he could be running on from midfield, but it's a long shot.
Race 5 – Jack Primmer Electronics Provincial (Bm64)
Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace with Northern Eyes the likeliest to find the front from barrier 3. My Charm and Monte Maximus from barrier 8 and 7 are wide and need cover. Master Riley sits midfield from barrier 1 in a race where the shape is against him, so he needs to find a pocket.
Punty read: Master Riley is the bet, the market has made him the favourite and he's the horse with the most proven form in this grade. The shape is against him, but his 2nd on the Extended Form at Kembla Grange and his Good record of 1 win, 3 seconds from 16 starts are good enough to win it. Cap D'ail is the horse with the fastest L600 and L400 on the card's sectionals and is a danger. Northern Eyes is the one who might find the front in a slow race and will be a force if the speed collapses. Sonnig at $9.00 is the roughie with a 40% combo with the Adam Farragher and Anthony Mountney pairing, but he's drifted, so watch the market.
Top 3 + Roughie ($5.00 pool)
1. Master Riley (No.6) — $3.00 / $1.37
Bet $5.00 Win, return $15.00
Prob 19.4% | Place: 56.4% | Value: 0.58x Steady since tip
Why Ms Jess Taylor rides, a 2nd on the Extended Form at Kembla Grange, and his record at Kembla Grange and in this class is strong. The slow pace is a hurdle, but he's a horse who finishes well.
2. Cap D'ail (No.1) — $4.80 / $1.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.70 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Northern Eyes (No.3) — $4.40 / $1.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 54.4% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why The likeliest to find the front and fastest time on the card's sectionals. The shape is against him, but he might not need the pace to fall apart to run a place.
Roughie: Sonnig (No.7) — $9.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.83x Steady since tip
Why Hawkesbury 1st on the Extended Form and a Good record that includes a place finish. Adam Farragher on board at a price that's drifted out from $5.00.
Race 6 – Park Fuelled To Win Mdn Hcp
Race type: MAIDEN, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace with Rosie Rouge the only leader from barrier 15, and Hellflight pressing from barrier 14. Both are wide and have to work to cross. Thyme To Go sits midfield with a sectional rank of 4 and fastest L400 and time, so he's the one to find the trail and kick.
Punty read: Home And Dry is the bet with three straight wins on the Extended Form (all 1st at Rosehill, Randwick and Rosehill). He's the favourite and has earned it. Thyme To Go has a 1st and 1st on his Extended Form and is the one to pressure him. Born To Fly comes from the back and has a 1st on the Extended Form. Hellflight has sprung a value lead at $26.00 and is a danger on the speed. Testamapatience at $10.00 is the roughie from midfield with a Blinkers on for the first time.
Top 3 + Roughie ($9.50 pool)
1. Home And Dry (No.8) — $3.80 / $1.70
Bet $9.50 Win, return $36.10
Prob 15.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.58x Steady since tip
Why Three wins from three on the Extended Form, the most recent at Rosehill, and Mitchell Bell rides. The ear muffs go on for the first time, but the form is strong.
2. Thyme To Go (No.1) — $5.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Born To Fly (No.6) — $4.80 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.59x Steady since tip
Why Keagan Latham rides and the combo sits at 33.3%. Two wins on his Extended Form at Randwick, and he's a horse who comes from the back.
Roughie: Testamapatience (No.11) — $10.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers on for the first time and a 1st, 2nd and 4th on his recent form from midfield. Jean Van Overmeire rides, so he's a roughie who can run on.
Race 7 – I98fm Feel Good Kembla Grange Cup (Bm64)
Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with Miss Emma and Star Minerva fighting for the lead. Miss Emma from barrier 8 is the more likely to get the lead, and she's a 1st on the Extended Form at Kembla Grange. Star Minerva is the one who is hurt most by the pace shape. Sky Deck sits handy from barrier 6 with the shape helping him, and Peleus and Extra Heights sit midfield with the shape in their favour.
Punty read: Sky Deck is the bet, a horse who runs well on the good track and gets the speed he wants. He's had a rated 1st at Kembla Grange and is on the upgrade. Peleus has a 1st and 1st on his Extended Form and is a danger from midfield. Siragusa is a horse who ran second on the Extended Form and has the speed to run at the front. Miss Emma is the roughie with the speed to lead, but she's carrying 6kg more than her last start.
Top 3 + Roughie ($6.50 pool)
1. Sky Deck (No.5) — $3.90 / $1.72
Bet $6.50 Win, return $25.35
Prob 13.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.52x Steady since tip
Why Sits handy in a race where the shape helps him, and he won at Kembla Grange on the Extended Form. Jean Van Overmeire rides, and the weight form shows he's best at 56 to 57kg.
2. Peleus (No.3) — $4.80 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.3% | Place: 37.7% | Value: 0.54x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.90 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Siragusa (No.4) — $7.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.6% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why Tongue tie on for the first time and a 2nd at Randwick-Kensington on the Extended Form. Sits on the speed where the shape isn't against him.
Roughie: Miss Emma (No.10) — $10.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why Leads from barrier 8 and won at Kembla Grange last start. If she gets the lead uncontested, she's a real chance, but Star Minerva is the one who will fight her.
Race 8 – Go Hire The Events People (Bm64)
Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with Who But Roo and Boom Break both mapping to lead and fighting for it. Century Song from barrier 7 is a back marker who can find the trail. Steel Knight sits midfield from barrier 2, and Donwon from barrier 9 is wide and needs to work to cross.
Punty read: Century Song is the bet, and the shape is against him, but his L600 and L400 sectionals are both fastest on the card for this race. He's won at Kembla Grange and has a sectional lead on the sprint trip. Who But Roo leads and is the one to beat if the pace holds. Steel Knight comes from midfield and can run down a tiring field. Aegipan has the speed to sit handy, but he has been in the market for longer than he should be.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Century Song (No.1) — $3.10 / $1.40
Bet $10.50 Win, return $32.55
Prob 32.4% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.00x Steady since tip
Why Fastest L600 and L400 sectionals on the card, a 4-3-3 career record, and Keagan Latham rides. He's a backmarker in a race where the speed fights, and that suits him well.
2. Who But Roo (No.3) — $6.50 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.83x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.05 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Steel Knight (No.5) — $4.40 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.56x Steady since tip
Why Sits midfield and has a 1-2-0 record over 10 starts, so he's got the form to finish in the placings.
Roughie: Boom Break (No.4) — $9.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why Fastest time on the sectionals and a 1st at Inverell on the Extended Form. He leads from barrier 4, and if the pace is steady he can hold on to a place.
SEQUENCE LANES
EARLY QUADDIE (R1–R4)
Smart: 2,6 / 6,2,7 / 3,7,1 / 3,4,2 (54 combos x $0.3704 = $20.00) -- 37% flexi
Punty's take: Race 1 and Race 3 are tight-ish with Magic Blaze and Dashing Triple at the top, Race 2 is wide with four runners, and Race 4 is a trio. The risk is in Race 2 and Race 4, so this is a sensible low-cost ticket with a flexi above the minimum.
QUADDIE (R5–R8)
Smart: 6,3,1 / 6,8,1 / 5,3,4,10 / 1,5 (72 combos x $0.4444 = $32.00) -- 44.4% flexi
Punty's take: Three of four legs are open races, so this is a wide, risky ticket. Race 8 keeps Century Song and Who But Roo tight, but the other legs are spread out. It's a strong 33.3% flexi ticket for a chaos-heavy quaddie, but a short-priced winner will not pay well.
BIG 6 (R3–R8)
Smart: 3,7,1,6 / 3,4,2,1 / 6,3,1,7 / 6,8,1,11 / 5,3,4,10 / 1,5,3,4 (4096 combos x $0.00122 = $5.00) -- 0.12% flexi
Punty's take: Six legs with four open races make this a long shot with a very low flexi, so it's an entertainment-only ticket. Play it for the fun, not the money.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Blinkers go on for the first time
Zourrific in Race 1 has blinkers on for the first time, and he's a horse who runs on from the back. Watch the market before the jump.
2 - Sky Deck is on the move
Sky Deck has come from $5.00 to $3.90 with money flowing in, and the market is backing him ahead of Race 7.
3 - Three from three
Home And Dry has won all three of his Extended Form starts, all at Rosehill, Randwick and Rosehill. He's the Race 6 favourite and the form says he has done nothing wrong.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
Back the banker races hard, stay disciplined in the chaos races, and don't let a clever quaddie ticket turn into a sad story. The Big 3 are on the board, the quaddies are tight enough to enjoy, and I'll see you at the rail.
