Punty's Early Mail
PUNTY EARLY MAIL, Doomben (2026-11-03)
For all of Punty's tips for Doomben, head to https://punty.ai/tips/doomben-2026-11-03
Rightio Ticket Munchers, Doomben is running on a Soft 5 with the rail at +7m for the entire course, so the speed map matters more than the names on the card today. Ten races, a bit of genuine pace, one hot race in the middle, and a couple of maidens where the form is thinner than a Sunday servo pie. Grab a coffee, read slowly, and don't go chasing the first short price you see.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Doomben, 1110m to 2200m card
Rail: +7m Entire course
Official going: Soft 5
Weather: Fine, gusts 14.8km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Genuine pace in Races 1, 2 and 10, slow in Race 3, moderate in Races 4 to 7 and 9, hot in Race 8.
Jockeys to follow:
Bella Youngberry: 9 rides today, including Hot Majesty in Race 3, Seneschal in Race 10 and Chicago Fireball in Race 9. Her Doomben record is 142 wins from 949 rides over the last 100 rides at 19%, and she's the one jockey with the most rides on the card.
Ben E Thompson: 9 rides, including Draw Attention in Race 3, La Roja in Race 9 and He's Tru Blue in Race 10. He's got a horse in nearly every race that matters.
Brandon Lerena: 8 rides, including Cryption's Desire in Race 2, Whatjeudoin' in Race 3 and La Premiere in Race 7. Busy bloke with a few runners in the mix.
Stables to respect:
T J Gollan (15 runners): Just Say Vale in Race 1, Hot Majesty and Draw Attention in Race 3, and Veomas in Race 6. The biggest string on the card, and it's a stable that tends to bring runners.
Stuart & Bayley Kendrick (7 runners): Spirit Of Torque in Race 1, Holy Terror in Race 5, and Hard Knox and Boots in Race 6. Spirit Of Torque is the stable's pick of the bunch today.
Chris & Corey Munce (5 runners): Olivoni in Race 7 and Pinot Pirate in Race 8. Two of the more important runners on the card are in this yard.
Punty's take: Doomben is a card of two halves. Races 1 to 3 have the early speed sorted in some way, with Fearless Victor the lone leader in Race 1 and Webinar the lone leader in Race 2, so those races will be run to suit whoever can finish. Race 3 is a slow crawl with nobody on the map to lead or sit handy, and that's a race where a late-finishing horse can steal it. Race 8 is the hot one with three runners fighting for the lead, Botanist, Quickzou and Pinot Pirate, and that's a race for the chaos merchants. The maidens in Races 4 and 5 both have a bit of a scramble for the lead, and Races 6 and 7 have their own shapes to sort out. Race 10 is the wide-open one with a big handy pack behind Swing State, and nothing in that field stands out above the rest.
The stables are where I'd lean. T J Gollan has the biggest string on the card and keeps his runners competitive, and Stuart & Bayley Kendrick has Spirit Of Torque in Race 1, which is the horse I'm most comfortable with at the top of the card. Chris & Corey Munce has the two important runners in Races 7 and 8, so I'm watching that yard closely.
What it means for you: Race 1 is the banker race on the day, with Spirit Of Torque the one I'm putting money on, though it's backed at a short price and the pace shape is against it. Race 3 is the one where I'm aggressive, with Draw Attention the bet and a value roughie in Trusty Bandit to bet small if you want to take a punt. Race 4 is the big value play at Malamagic, so take the price while it's there. Races 8 and 10 are the chaos races, so keep your stakes sensible and spread across the bets already placed. The Big 3 and the sequences are built around these races, so stick with the bets as written.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Spirit Of Torque (Race 1, No.7) — $2.24
Why Settles back from barrier 7 and has to get a clean run, but the sectionals say it finishes fastest in its group and it's been placed in class 5 twice. If the front pair sits up, it's the one that will be running on late.
2 - Draw Attention (Race 3, No.3) — $1.92
Why Sits midfield from barrier 2 in a slow race where the shape is in its favour, and it won its last two starts at Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. It's short, but I'm not going to apologise for a horse that has the right trip in the right spot.
3 - Malamagic (Race 4, No.5) — $2.42
Why Has finished second in each of its last three runs and sits handy from barrier 4 in a race where nobody's got a natural lead. It's the one with the best position to take the front, and it's wearing a blindfold for the first time, which I'm watching closely.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 10.41 = $104.10
Race 1 – Sky Racing Mdn Plate
Race type: Maiden, 1615m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, but Fearless Victor from barrier 3 is the only one on the map to lead, so it's a lone speed with nobody to press it. Nothing sits handy, so the field is stacked at the back and whoever gets clear late runs the lot down. Spirit Of Torque from barrier 7 is one of the back-half runners drawn wide that need cover, and the shape is against it, so it needs the front to fall apart.
Punty read: Spirit Of Torque is the bet, and the reason is simple: it's the best closer in a race where the front is thin. It's backed at $2.24 and the shape doesn't help, but the sectionals show it finishes fastest in its group and it's been placed twice in class 5. Just Say Vale is the one to watch in the market, with the price coming in from $2.90 to $2.24 and the stable behind it, but it's a backmarker in a field where nothing's clearly suited. Fearless Victor comes out with blinkers off for the first time, winkers and tongue tie on, so it's a gear change to keep an eye on for the early pace.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Spirit Of Torque (No.7) — $2.25 / $1.32
Bet $15.00 Win, return $33.75
Prob 38.0% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.85x Steady since tip
Why Best finishing sectionals in the race and a 4kg rise on last start is the only weight question. It's been running on at the back of the field and the field is slow enough that a late run is the path.
2. Just Say Vale (No.4) — $2.24 / $1.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 32.0% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Notes Of Autumn (No.5) — $7.00 / $2.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.7% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.96x Steady since tip
Why The sectionals say it's fast late, and it's been shortened from $9.00 to $7.00, so the market likes it. It's a back-half runner that needs to pick up the pace at the finish.
Roughie: Alto Luna (No.1) — $17.00 / $4.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.9% | Place: 16.7% | Value: 0.66x Steady since tip
Why It's been wide, it's been interfered with, and it's a backmarker from barrier 6 that needs cover. If the front runner stops and the bunch gets bunched up, it can sneak into the frame with a good run.
Race 2 – Ladbrokes Hosted Pots (Bm68)
Race type: Benchmark 68, 1615m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Webinar from barrier 1 the only leader on the map, so it can dictate if nobody comes at it. Mahmoa from barrier 7 is the one who could challenge but has to work across from a wide draw. Swanfels from barrier 8 is caught wide and needs cover, and the shape is against it.
Punty read: Swanfels is the bet, and it's a horse that's won its last start at Ipswich over 1666m. It's sitting midfield from the wide barrier 8, which isn't ideal, but the form and the placings say it's a horse that goes on. The danger is the market favourite Cryption's Desire at $5.20, but I'm not betting on it at that price. Webinar leads uncontested and has won its last start, so if the pace stays on it, it's the roughie that can run away with it.
Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)
1. Swanfels (No.5) — $3.70 / $1.60
Bet $7.50 Win, return $27.75
Prob 22.6% | Place: 52.3% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why Ipswich winner last start at 1666m and placed in class 4 at Soft 2:1-0-1. It's wide, so it needs to find cover, but the sectionals rank second in both the last 600 and 400.
2. Cryption's Desire (No.1) — $5.20 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.75 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Sorrenti (No.3) — $6.00 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.04x Steady since tip
Why Has run a couple of minor placings and its last-start excuse is a wide run. It's on the speed in the wrong part of the field, so it needs the pace to hold up.
Roughie: Webinar (No.8) — $11.00 / $2.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.3% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.91x Steady since tip
Why It's the only runner on the lead, and it won at Warwick 1500m last start. If it gets an uncontested lead on a soft track, it can roll along and make the others chase.
Race 3 – Drinkwise (Bm70)
Race type: Benchmark 70, 2200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, and nobody on the map leads or sits handy, so it's a crawl where the finishing speed counts. Whatjeudoin' is the one the shape helps most, and Draw Attention from barrier 2 sits midfield exactly where I want it. Trusty Bandit and Giddy Gan's Joy are hurt by the shape and have to come from the back, with Hot Majesty and Giddy Gan's Joy drawn wide.
Punty read: Draw Attention is the bet. It's the short favourite at $1.92, and I'm not pretending that's a bargain, but it's sitting in the right spot in a slow race and it's won its last two starts. Hot Majesty is the danger, a horse with a good Ipswich win and a placed record at 2200m. Trusty Bandit is the roughie that gets value on the board, with a strong staying record and a sectional rank that suits a slow run if it can get a sprint home.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Draw Attention (No.3) — $1.92 / $1.17
Bet $13.00 Win, return $24.96
Prob 36.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why Won at Gold Coast over 2235m last start and at Sunshine Coast 1800m the start before. Midfield from barrier 2 is the right place for a slow race, and the shape helps it.
2. Hot Majesty (No.1) — $4.20 / $1.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.93x Steady since tip
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Castello Grande (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why Ran second at Eagle Farm 2200m last start and has the sectionals to finish. It's back from barrier 1, so it needs a clean run.
Roughie: Trusty Bandit (No.5) — $10.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why It's won at Eagle Farm 2443m and Kilcoy 1900m recently, and it's got the stamina to win over 2200m. The slow pace is against it on the map, so it needs the field to sprint home faster than the map says.
Race 4 – Happy Retirement Rothfire Mdn Plate
Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, but nobody maps to lead and six runners could try for the front, Malamagic from barrier 4 among them. Plan Of Attack from barrier 12 is forward and has to work across. Golden Glass from barrier 11 is back-half and needs cover, and the shape is against it.
Punty read: Malamagic is the bet, and it's the one I'd take the price on. It's been second in each of its last three runs, it's got the inside draw at barrier 4 and it's got the best chance to get the lead. Zoucoup has no map position on the card, so I can't tell you where it settles. Vital Impact is the value runner in the market, first-up after 128 days off with a tongue tie going on first time and the shape helps it. Star Rouge is the roughie with a Deagon win back in June, though the market has cut it from the field.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Malamagic (No.5) — $2.42 / $1.25
Bet $15.00 Win, return $36.30
Prob 33.0% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.80x Steady since tip
Why Has finished second in each of its last three runs, the last three over the Doomben and Eagle Farm 1000m trips. It's on the speed from barrier 4 and it wears a blindfold for the first time today.
2. Vital Impact (No.14) — $6.50 / $2.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.25x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.30 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Zoucoup (No.12) — $7.00 / $2.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.9% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.62x Steady since tip
Why Won its last start at Sunshine Coast Inner 1000m and is the one I'd watch if the map is wrong. It has no map position, so I'm not claiming where it runs.
Roughie: Star Rouge (No.9) — $11.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.89x Steady since tip
Why Ran second at Deagon 650m last start and won at Deagon 1050m back in June. It's on the speed from barrier 5, and if the front runners fight, it can grab a place.
Race 5 – Intro Recruitment Cup Mdn
Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with two on the lead, Night Glory from barrier 1 and Sibi Ipse Fortunae from barrier 12, so Sibi has to work from the outside to get the front. That hands the ones on the speed a sit. Volcanic Rush from barrier 9 is the one the shape helps most, and Holy Terror from barrier 11 has to work to cross.
Punty read: Volcanic Rush is the bet. It's on the speed from barrier 9 in a race where the front is contested, and it ran second at Eagle Farm last start after winning at Doomben 1000m earlier. Holy Terror is the danger with a good sectional rank and second at Sunshine Coast Inner last start, and its market has come in from a long way out. Too Darn Right is the one I'd like to see in the market, but it's a back-marker and I'm not backing that at $10.00. Cavalluna is the roughie with blinkers on for the first time.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Volcanic Rush (No.11) — $2.85 / $1.45
Bet $15.00 Win, return $42.75
Prob 25.3% | Place: 58.9% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Ran second at Eagle Farm 1200m last start and has won at Doomben 1000m. It's on the speed from barrier 9 and the shape helps it.
2. Holy Terror (No.3) — $3.30 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.2% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 0.83x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.55 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Too Darn Right (No.9) — $11.00 / $2.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.02x Steady since tip
Why Has run second at Doomben 1000m and Deagon 1050m, and it's been slow to start in its last run. It's a backmarker, so it needs the speed to collapse up front.
Roughie: Cavalluna (No.1) — $9.00 / $2.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers go on first time and it's been second at Doomben 1000m. The shape is against it, so it needs the two leaders to burn each other off.
Race 6 – Moreton Hire Mdn Plate
Race type: Maiden, 1350m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, and nobody maps to lead, so Hard Knox from barrier 7 is the likeliest to find the front. Veomas from barrier 2 sits midfield on the inside, and the shape helps it. Lean Warrior from barrier 12 and Mr Hilton from barrier 13 are drawn wide and have to work across.
Punty read: Veomas is the bet, and it's a horse that finished second at Ipswich 1350m last start. It's got the inside draw in a race where the front is open, and the shape helps. Xami is the danger, a no-bet in the market, and Poor Ol' Johny Ray is the one I'd watch with a fresh set of gear. D'vincee is the roughie, with bandages on the hind legs for the first time and a win at Beaudesert last time out.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Veomas (No.7) — $2.90 / $1.45
Bet $13.00 Win, return $37.70
Prob 24.6% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why Second at Ipswich 1350m last start, and it's been placed in class 8. The shape helps it from the inside, and the cross-over nose band is back on again.
2. Xami (No.16) — $3.00 / $1.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.1% | Place: 49.4% | Value: 0.69x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.50 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Poor Ol' Johny Ray (No.6) — $14.00 / $3.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.2% | Place: 31.2% | Value: 1.15x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers come off again, winkers and tongue tie go on, and a nasal strip is on for the first time. It's on the speed from barrier 11, so it has to find the front.
Roughie: D'vincee (No.11) — $13.00 / $3.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.15x Steady since tip
Why Bandages on the hind legs are on for the first time, and it won at Beaudesert over 1050m. It's in the midfield with a decent trainer and jockey combination, so it's a roughie that's got a path.
Race 7 – Canadian Club Hcp (C1)
Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with two on the lead, Olivoni from barrier 4 and Fleeting Boom from barrier 2, so there's a fight for the front. The shape is against Olivoni, but the handy runners from wide draws, Fearless Win from barrier 8, Aurora Blaze from barrier 9 and Champagne Problems from barrier 10, have to cross to get into the race.
Punty read: Olivoni is the bet, and it's a leader with the form to back up its place at the top of the card. The shape is against it, but it's been the one that's been held up by interference last start and it's got a good record in class 1. Trinity State is the danger on the speed from barrier 3, having won at Grafton 1190m, and the market's been generous. Aurora Blaze is the roughie with ear muffs on for the first time, a shape that helps it and a win at Lismore 1210m last.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Olivoni (No.1) — $2.45 / $1.25
Bet $15.00 Win, return $36.75
Prob 22.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.54x Steady since tip
Why Went to the front at Doomben 840m and won, then was held up by interference last start. It's leading from barrier 4 and the shape's against it, but the form is there.
2. Trinity State (No.8) — $6.00 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.7% | Place: 53.7% | Value: 1.24x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Fleeting Boom (No.3) — $4.40 / $1.72
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.6% | Place: 48.5% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why Won at Doomben 1200m last start and it's the other leader. If the front fight is on, it can get a sit behind Olivoni.
Roughie: Aurora Blaze (No.5) — $9.50 / $2.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.90x Steady since tip
Why Ear muffs go on for the first time, and it won at Lismore 1210m. It's on the speed from barrier 9, and the shape helps it.
Race 8 – Century Pools Hcp (C1)
Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Hot pace with three on the lead: Botanist from barrier 5, Quickzou from barrier 8 and Pinot Pirate from barrier 4. That's a scrap, and the shape is against the two leaders with the poorest records. Meet George and Quickzou are forward runners drawn wide, and Summation from barrier 10 is back-half and needs cover.
Punty read: Pinot Pirate is the bet, and it's a leader from the inside barrier 4 that's won two of its last three starts. The shape is against it in a hot race, but the form and the weight drop from 4kg down say it can go to the line. It's an each-way bet and the place is what keeps it sensible. Podium Star is the danger with a third at Doomben 1110m last start and the shape helping it. Buckeye is the roughie, a horse on the speed from barrier 7 with a second at Sunshine Coast last start.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Pinot Pirate (No.10) — $5.00 / $1.90
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $51.75 if it wins ($37.50 win + $14.25 place), $14.25 if it only places
Prob 20.2% | Place: 58.6% | Value: 1.01x Steady since tip
Why Won at Gatton 860m and Gold Coast 1000m in its last three starts, and it's 4kg lighter than last start. It's on the lead from barrier 4, and the sectionals say it's fast over the last 400m.
2. Podium Star (No.7) — $4.60 / $1.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.91x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Another Cashie (No.3) — $4.40 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.8% | Place: 53.2% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why Second at Doomben 1110m and sits midfield from barrier 2, so it's got the cover it needs. Ear muffs go on for the first time.
Roughie: Buckeye (No.8) — $11.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why Second at Sunshine Coast 1000m last start and on the speed from barrier 7. If the hot pace takes its toll on the leaders, it can run late.
Race 9 – Higgins Coatings Plate (C3)
Race type: Class 3, 1110m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with two on the lead, Chicago Fireball from the widest barrier 12 and Tasman Bay from barrier 6. Chicago Fireball has to work across, and that opens the door for La Roja from barrier 3, which sits handy and gets the shape. Impervious from barrier 11 is forward and drawn wide.
Punty read: La Roja is the bet, and it's a short favourite at $2.45 that I'm not thrilled about on price. The reason I'm on it is the draw and the map: it sits handy from barrier 3 and the shape helps. Blinkers come off first time and a tongue tie goes on. Desanto and No Fooling are the two in the market I'd keep an eye on, and Tasman Bay is the roughie that's led and won at Eagle Farm last time out.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. La Roja (No.13) — $2.45 / $1.32
Bet $15.00 Win, return $36.75
Prob 25.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.62x Steady since tip
Why Ran fifth at Gold Coast Poly last start, but has three seconds on soft. It sits handy from barrier 3 and the shape helps it.
2. No Fooling (No.2) — $5.00 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.9% | Place: 53.6% | Value: 0.90x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.90 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Desanto (No.10) — $5.50 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.88x Steady since tip
Why Won at Sunshine Coast 1000m last start and sits on the speed from barrier 4. It's the one who could take the lead if the front pair goes soft.
Roughie: Tasman Bay (No.7) — $16.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 22.7% | Value: 0.83x Steady since tip
Why Won at Eagle Farm 1200m last start and at Doomben 1110m before that. If Chicago Fireball burns out from the wide gate, Tasman Bay can get its own rhythm up front.
Race 10 – Ladbrokes Turn On Flex Multi (Bm68)
Race type: Benchmark 68, 1350m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, with Swing State from barrier 3 the only one on the map to lead, but the handy pack behind it is deep. Col Burn from barrier 16 and Seneschal from barrier 12 are forward and drawn wide, so they have to work to cross. Lebanese from barrier 8 sits handy inside the pack and the shape helps it.
Punty read: Lebanese is the bet, each way, and it's won its last two starts over 1350m. It's the one with the inside handy position in a race where the front is open, and the shape helps. He's Tru Blue is the danger, blinkers on first time and a good record on the track. Don't Doubt Missy has blinkers, a bubble cheeker and lugging bit on for the first time, so that's one to watch. Highgrove Rose is the roughie with a good soft record.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Lebanese (No.7) — $7.40 / $2.40
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $51.45 if it wins ($38.85 win + $12.60 place), $12.60 if it only places
Prob 13.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.01x Steady since tip
Why Won at Doomben 1350m last start and at Ipswich 1350m before that. It sits handy from barrier 8 and the shape helps it.
2. He's Tru Blue (No.2) — $3.50 / $1.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.9% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.45x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Don't Doubt Missy (No.17) — $6.40 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.3% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Third at Doomben 1350m last start and has blinkers on, a bubble cheeker on one side and lugging bit on for the first time. It's a backmarker, so it needs the pace to hold.
Roughie: Highgrove Rose (No.5) — $12.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.82x Steady since tip
Why Ear muffs are on again, and it's got a strong soft record with two seconds and a third. It sits midfield from barrier 5, so a genuine pace and a line through the middle is its path.
SEQUENCE LANES
SEQUENCE LANES
EARLY QUADDIE (R3–R6)
Smart: 3,4,1 / 5,14 / 11,3,9 / 7,16,11 (54 combos x $0.3704 = $20.00) -- 37% flexi
Punty's take: Race 3 and Race 4 are the tight legs with Draw Attention and Malamagic doing the heavy lifting, and Races 5 and 6 are wide open. The minimum flexi floor is 30%, and this ticket sits at 37%, so it's a solid play that pays off well if the midfield winners get home.
QUADDIE (R7–R10)
Smart: 8,3,1 / 10,3,7 / 2,10,13 / 7,17,2 (81 combos x $0.395 = $32.00) -- 39.5% flexi
Punty's take: Race 9 is the one tight leg with La Roja and No Fooling holding it together, while Races 7, 8 and 10 are open. The minimum flexi floor is 30%, and this sits at 44.4%, so it's a higher outlay for the chaos legs and it's not one for the faint-hearted.
BIG 6 (R5–R10)
Smart: 11,3,9,1 / 7,16,11,6 / 8,3,1,5 / 10,3,7,8 / 2,10,13,7 / 7,17,2,5 (4096 combos x $0.00122 = $5.00) -- 0.12% flexi
Punty's take: Six legs, all open, and the minimum flexi floor for this one is 0.10%, so this is an entertainment ticket with a tiny chance of landing. Keep the outlay where it is and enjoy the ride.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Fearless Victor's gear change
Blinkers come off first time, winkers and a tongue tie go on first time. It's the only leader in Race 1, so watch the first two.
2 - Robrick returns after a break
Robrick resumes after 65 days off, and its first-up record is one win from five starts. It's in Race 9 and it's a horse to check on the card.
3 - The bridesmaid's bridesmaid
Malamagic has finished second in each of its last three runs. Hard to be more consistent without winning, and today's the day it might finally cash in.
THE RATBAG REPORT
Doomben has a full card, a soft track and a few horses that really want to be backed. Keep the stakes sensible, read the maps, and remember the best bet is the one you can afford to lose.
