For all of Punty's tips for Ascot, head to https://punty.ai/tips/ascot-2026-10-24

Rightio Ticket Munchers, Ascot is sitting on a Good 4 with the rail out 7m, ten races from 1000m to 2200m, and a card that splits neatly into fast-pace sprints, a slow-motion Cup-style trip and a couple of moderate-pace chances where the closers can get a go. Plenty of speed in the sprints, a few hot-pace traps to avoid, and two or three races where I reckon the punt is hiding in plain sight.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Ascot, 1000m to 2200m card
Rail: +7m Entire
Official going: Good 4
Weather: Overcast, gusts 7.4km/h, rain risk 40%+ chance at 05:00 and 08:00
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Genuine pace in R1, R2, R5 and R8. Hot pace in R3 and R7, with the sprint leaders fighting it out early. Moderate in R4, R9 and R10. Slow in R6, where the back half of the field gets a shot at the line.
Jockeys to follow:
Chris Parnham: Eight rides on the day, including Streamlined (R4), Truly Loyal (R10) and Achy Breaky (R9). The two most likely winners on my sheet both need a jock who knows how to ride a clean trip.
Holly Nottle: Eight rides, headed by Snow God (R8), Bassett Hound's rivals in R7 and Tycoon Harry (R7) on a hot pace. Her rides are spread across the card, so she's one to watch in every second race.
Lucy F Fiore: Eight rides, including Beatty (R9) and Malastar's stablemate in the market, Albirex (R1). She has the favourite in the Mid-Fav R9 and a couple of sharp prices across the card.
Stables to respect:
Mitchell Pateman (10 runners): Malastar (R1), Last Stylebender and Keep Reading (R3), and Bassett Hound (R7). Ten runners is the biggest string on the card, so the stable is always in the conversation.
Michael Grantham (7 runners): Streamlined (R4), Truly Loyal (R10) and Abissi (R6). Strong across the sprint and staying programs.
S & J Casey (6 runners): Beatty and He's A Machino (R9), along with So Si God (R2) and Cannykev (R3). Two of the better chances in the middle of the card.

Punty's take: This is a card where the speed tells you a lot. In the sprints the leaders are very clear, and the hot pace in R3 and R7 changes everything about who can run down the field. The sprint runs where you want a horse with the pace to be ridden on the front, and that's Malastar in the first race and Last Stylebender in the third, both shown as leaders on the map. R7 is the trap race where everyone wants the closers, but my pick sits midfield, the pocket where the hot pace leaves the sprint leaders with nothing left at the finish. R6 is the one I'm watching for a slow-run blowup because the back half of the field is full of backmarkers and nobody is cutting the speed, so a pace-run ticket could go sideways for the leaders. Streamlined in R4 is the banker of the day in my book, a horse with a strong first-up record and the best recent ride in the field, sitting in the midfield on a moderate pace. R5 is the chaos race: 15 runners, a short-priced favourite in Rogue Ruler, and a pile of value underneath it. Nobody in R8 has a clear pace advantage either, which keeps that race open for a lively each way.

What it means for you: Be aggressive early with the sprint favourites that have the pace map and the form. Malastar and Last Stylebender are the two I'd want exposed in the early races because they can dictate on their own terms. Protect in R9 and R10 where the moderate pace means you can't blindly back the leaders and must respect the midfield runners who settle in. The value sits in the sprints with the hot pace, where the midfield hold-up horses and the pace-advantaged runners could separate from the market. R5 and R8 are the chaos races, so keep the stakes small there and let the Each Way do the heavy lifting. The Big 3 leans on Streamlined, Malastar and Bassett Hound, and the Quaddie ticket is built around those legs being alive, so don't chase the longshots past the budget.

PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI

These are the three bets the day leans on.

1 - Streamlined (Race 4, No.2) — $2.15
Why The best-credentialed horse on a card with a moderate pace, a first-up record of 3:2-0-0 and a win last start at Ascot over 1600m.
2 - Malastar (Race 1, No.5) — $2.40
Why He's the only true leader in a Genuine Pace sprint, so he gets to dictate the tempo and the Blinkers ON first time will keep him focused on the speed.
3 - Bassett Hound (Race 7, No.9) — $1.75
Why A hot pace sprint suits a horse that sits midfield and runs on, and he has won three straight starts including the last at Ascot over 1000m.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 9.03 = $90.30

Race 1 – Morley Growers Market Plate

Race type: Open, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace with Malastar the only listed leader. Malastar is LEADER, Albirex is MIDFIELD, Defend The Nation is BACKMARKER, and Swift Divide and Brave Matador have no position on the map.
Punty read: *Malastar is the bet, and it's a simple one: he's a LEADER in a sprint where nobody else is shown as wanting the front, and the Blinkers ON first time are a sharp addition for a horse that wants to be in front. His last start was a 2nd over 1000m at Ascot, beaten 0.8L, and he won both starts before that at Belmont Park. Albirex is the one who can run down the leader if the pace is a little soft, with a last-start win over 1000m at Ascot and sectionals that rank fastest over the last 400m. Swift Divide has its visors on first time and is a danger from the pack, while Brave Matador rides for the stable of S & J Casey and has a useful jockey line here.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Malastar (No.5) — $2.40 / $1.14
Bet $15.00 Win, return $36.00
Prob 37.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.89x ▼2% since tip
Why The only leader on the card for this race, with a sharp last start and the gear change that should keep him in front.
2. Albirex (No.1) — $3.50 / $1.37
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.6% | Place: 56.5% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.37 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Swift Divide (No.8) — $7.00 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.9% | Place: 40.8% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why Visors on first time and a barrier 1 draw can make it a fast start, but he has to find a way to hold the fence to be a player.

Roughie: Brave Matador (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.8% | Place: 37.2% | Value: 0.88x Steady since tip
Why Won over 850m at Belmont Park last start and has a useful stable in S & J Casey, so if the speed up front collapses he's the one to run down.

Race 2 – TABtouch Westspeed Platinum Series Heat 1

Race type: Rst 0 Met Win-LY, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace with Fearless Talk the only listed leader. Fearless Talk is LEADER, Ripper Farooq, Beyond Measure, Espresso Time and My Danny Boy are ON-PACE, and So Si God, Soldier Of God, Beau's A Lad and Tribal Ruler are MIDFIELD. Fearless Talk is advantaged by the pace, while Soldier Of God and Beau's A Lad are disadvantaged.
Punty read: *So Si God is the bet because he's the most complete horse in the field on the good ground with a 2nd over 1400m at Ascot last start and a win at Belmont Park over 1200m before that. He's 2:2-2 on good and has the best weight-bearing record on the card, though the weight form flags him as a light-weight winner. Beyond Measure is the danger from the ON-PACE group after a win at Bunbury over 1200m, while Ripper Farooq has the speed to sit just off the leader and is the other horse to respect. Fearless Talk has been off for 132 days, so the pace advantage is real but the freshness is a question.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. So Si God (No.2) — $2.64 / $1.32
Bet $10.50 Win, return $27.72
Prob 32.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.86x Steady since tip
Why Won over 1200m at Belmont Park and ran 2nd at Ascot last start, with the best of the sectional times on the card at the finish.
2. Beyond Measure (No.5) — $4.30 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.69x ▲3% since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Ripper Farooq (No.1) — $6.40 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.90x Steady since tip
Why Ran 2nd over 1100m at Ascot and has the speed to sit just off the leader, which is exactly where the pace suits.

Roughie: Soldier Of God (No.7) — $15.00 / $3.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.1% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why Ran 3rd over 1100m at Ascot and sits in the midfield, so a fast pace up front could give him the run he needs late.

Race 3 – PKF Perth (Bm66+)

Race type: BenchMark 66+, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace with three listed leaders: Last Stylebender, Do I Feel Lucky and Little Silver are all LEADER. Niccimota, Pingers and Cannykev are ON-PACE, Keep Reading is MIDFIELD and Excess Baggage is BACKMARKER. Last Stylebender is advantaged, Excess Baggage is disadvantaged.
Punty read: *Last Stylebender is the bet because a hot pace with three leaders gives him real competition for the early lead, but the one that matters is the one that can handle the speed and still finish. He won at Kalgoorlie over 1100m last start and at Northam over 1000m before that, so the form is current and the pace advantage is there. Niccimota is ON-PACE and runs the fastest time on the sheet, which makes it the danger for a fast closing burst, while Pingers sits in the ON-PACE group behind the leaders. Excess Baggage is the one who gets crushed if the leaders go flat out, so I'm keeping him out of the thinking.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Last Stylebender (No.2) — $3.70 / $1.57
Bet $10.50 Win, return $38.85
Prob 24.5% | Place: 59.2% | Value: 0.91x ▲3% since tip
Why A leader in a hot pace sprint with a win last start at Kalgoorlie, and the form at this distance has been strong.
2. Niccimota (No.3) — $4.80 / $1.72
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.00x ▲4% since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.72 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Pingers (No.4) — $6.40 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.96x Steady since tip
Why Won at Belmont Park over 1000m last start before the 7th at Ascot, and sits just off the speed in a race where that's the spot to be.

Roughie: Keep Reading (No.1) — $9.40 / $2.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.6% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Midfield in a hot pace sprint, and if the three leaders kill each other off, the late run from a midfielder is the path to a sneaky cheque.

Race 4 – Brent Maas (Rs1mw)

Race type: Rest 1 Metro Win, 1800m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace with no listed leaders. Classic Impact, Dandy's Gem and Here For Cheques are ON-PACE. Streamlined and More Than Enuff are MIDFIELD. Vexatious Rose, Summer's Legacy, Awesome Force and Saucisson are BACKMARKER. Summer's Legacy and Awesome Force are disadvantaged.
Punty read: *Streamlined is the bet and it's my strongest opinion on the day. He's MIDFIELD in a moderate pace, which is the spot you want when nobody's cutting the speed, and his last start was a win over 1600m at Ascot. He's 1st-up 3:2-0-0 and has been running well on a good track. Vexatious Rose has run 2nd over 1600m at Ascot and sits BACKMARKER, so a slow-run finish could bring him into the frame. Classic Impact is the ON-PACE runner with a 4th at Ascot 1600m to bounce back from.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Streamlined (No.2) — $2.15 / $1.14
Bet $10.50 Win, return $22.58
Prob 40.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.88x ▲5% since tip
Why First-up winner over 1600m at Ascot, the best form on the card and a midfield run that suits the moderate pace.
2. Vexatious Rose (No.4) — $5.00 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.3% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.11x ▲4% since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Classic Impact (No.6) — $4.20 / $1.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.9% | Place: 53.5% | Value: 0.58x ▼7% since tip
Why On-pace runner with the fastest time on the sheet, and a 4th at Ascot 1600m last start that was a bad run from a wide draw.

Roughie: Awesome Force (No.5) — $23.00 / $3.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.4% | Place: 22.3% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why Backmarker with the fastest last-600m and last-400m sectionals on the card, so if the pace stays soft he can come from a long way back.

Race 5 – MC Equine Surfaces (Rs0ly)

Race type: Rst 0 Met Win-LY, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace with Tiff's Lad the only listed leader. Rogue Ruler, Decoration, Late Arrival, Acta Non Verba and Alaskan are ON-PACE. Javelin Strike and Bob The Baker are MIDFIELD. Ocean Goddess, Regal Service, Wayne The Pain, Power Missile and Ocean Goddess are BACKMARKER. Acta Non Verba and Tiff's Lad are advantaged, while Ocean Goddess, Regal Service, Wayne The Pain and Power Missile are disadvantaged.
Punty read: *Rogue Ruler is the bet because he's the best early-speed rated horse on the card, sits ON-PACE just behind the lead and was the 3rd at Ascot 1400m last start. He's on good ground where he's 3:0-0-3, and a short-priced favourite in a chaos race is a rare beast I'll back. Javelin Strike won at Ascot 1400m last start and has run fast over the last 400m. Decoration has the sectionals to go with his good form on a 1600m trip, and Ocean Goddess is the backmarker with the fastest last-600m sectional on the card, so she's the roughie to keep close.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Rogue Ruler (No.15) — $2.90 / $1.40
Bet $13.00 Win, return $37.70
Prob 26.3% | Place: 59.1% | Value: 0.76x ▲2% since tip
Why Speed rating the fastest on the card, ON-PACE with the fastest time on the sheet, and a 3rd at Ascot last start.
2. Javelin Strike (No.3) — $7.00 / $2.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $2.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Decoration (No.1) — $7.40 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.1% | Place: 34.6% | Value: 0.90x Steady since tip
Why Sits ON-PACE with the second-fastest last-600m sectional, and the 1st at Northam over 1400m last start is the kind of form to respect.

Roughie: Ocean Goddess (No.4) — $9.40 / $2.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.6% | Place: 40.6% | Value: 1.09x Steady since tip
Why Backmarker with the fastest last-600m and last-400m sectionals, so she needs the front runners to tire and a clean run through the line.

Race 6 – Peters Investments (Bm66+)

Race type: BenchMark 66+, 2200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace with no listed leaders. I Love Ya Money, Starwalker, Dark Looks, Hanafubuki and Consolidated are MIDFIELD. Abissi, All Grunt, Miss Veuve, Arcadia Knight, Rommeo and Lien Hyphen are BACKMARKER. Arcadia Knight, Abissi and Consolidated have disadvantaged map factors.
Punty read: *I Love Ya Money is the bet because he's midfield in a slow-pace 2200m, which is exactly where you want to be when the field can't get the sprint started early. He won over 1600m at Belmont Park last start and has been 1st-up in a race where the pace is under control. Abissi is the danger, BACKMARKER but with a win at Ascot over 2200m that proves he can stay the trip. All Grunt and Miss Veuve are the closers that can make the late run if the pace stays soft, and Miss Veuve's place market is the one I'd watch.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. I Love Ya Money (No.7) — $3.20 / $1.52
Bet $10.50 Win, return $33.60
Prob 30.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.99x Steady since tip
Why Midfield on a slow-pace trip, with a win over 1600m at Belmont Park last start and a 2nd at Ascot 1800m before that.
2. Abissi (No.4) — $4.00 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.62x Steady since tip

3. All Grunt (No.2) — $8.40 / $2.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.0% | Place: 33.0% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why Won over 2200m at Belmont Park earlier this spring and the Norton bit ON first time is a gear change for a horse that wants to get into the race.

Roughie: Miss Veuve (No.3) — $14.00 / $3.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why Won over 2200m at Belmont Park last start, and the backmarker's run down the outside is the path to a place if the midfield runners stall.

Race 7 – Guinness (Bm78+)

Race type: BenchMark 78+, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace with four listed leaders: Ginnivan, Norich, Kings Court and Now You See Me are all LEADER. Tycoon Harry, Devine Belief and Xentaro are ON-PACE. Black Ora, Santanova, Snitzalatte and Bassett Hound are MIDFIELD. Norich, Tycoon Harry and Devine Belief are advantaged, and Black Ora is disadvantaged.
Punty read: *Bassett Hound is the bet. He's midfield in a hot pace sprint, which is the spot where the leaders burn out and the closers come home. He's 4:1-1-1 from 7 starts and has won three in a row, the last at Ascot over 1000m, so he's got the form in the book and the trip to suit. Xentaro is the ON-PACE runner that can run down the leaders on the late burst and he won at Belmont Park earlier. Black Ora is the one who gets the run if the hot pace takes it out of the front four, with wins on good ground and a 5th at Ascot last start from midfield.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Bassett Hound (No.9) — $1.75 / $1.10
Bet $10.50 Win, return $18.38
Prob 33.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.58x ▲4% since tip

Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.15x Steady since tip

3. Now You See Me (No.10) — $9.50 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.0% | Place: 30.3% | Value: 0.85x Steady since tip
Why Leader in a hot pace sprint and first-up with a 1st-up record of 4:1-0-1, but he's the horse the leaders have to beat on the speed.

Roughie: Black Ora (No.3) — $15.00 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.5% | Place: 28.9% | Value: 1.12x Steady since tip
Why Midfield with the 4-3-4 record on good ground and a win in the Dist 14 field, so if the front four burn out he's the one who gets through.

Race 8 – Coppers Irish Night Club (Rs1mw)

Race type: Rest 1 Metro Win, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace with Science Degree the only listed leader. Have A Crack, Snow God and Rok 'n' Rom are ON-PACE. Helluva Goddess, Fine Star, Maalis Song, Wheely, Enticing, Morning Thunder, Stylin' are MIDFIELD. Galway Shawl is BACKMARKER. Science Degree is advantaged.
Punty read: *Have A Crack is the Each Way, and I'm happy to hold it at the price. He's ON-PACE in a race with one listed leader, and the nose roll ON first time is a gear change that could sharpen his early speed. He's run 4th over 1000m at Belmont Park last start and has a good place record on good ground. Rok 'n' Rom is the ON-PACE danger after a 2nd at Ascot over 1200m. Morning Thunder is the midfielder with the ear muffs on pre-race only, and Galway Shawl is the backmarker who could sneak home if the leader stops.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)

1. Have A Crack (No.7) — $6.00 / $2.15

Race 9 – Liquor Barons Belgravia Stakes

Race type: Open, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace with Pistone and Threads Of Glory listed as leaders. Pistone and Threads Of Glory are LEADER. Beatty, He's A Machino, Big Red Zoom, Boy Crush and Godspeed are ON-PACE. Firearm, Capall Gasta, Flying Swagman and Achy Breaky are MIDFIELD or BACKMARKER as marked. In Good Nicc is disadvantaged.
Punty read: *Beatty is the bet because he's ON-PACE in a moderate pace, which is the spot where you can sit just off the leaders and pick them off. He's won four from four on good and his last start was a win over 1000m at Belmont Park. He's the horse I'd bet on, and the one to beat. Achy Breaky is the danger from the midfield with a win over 850m at Belmont Park last start and a 1st-up record in a field where the leaders are not very fast. He's a value runner. He's He's A Machino from the ON-PACE group, whose last start was a 4th at Ascot 1000m, so the path is there for a quick bounce.

Why Leader in a moderate pace sprint with a win at Bunbury over 1100m last start and a 2nd at Belmont Park 1200m before that, so he gets an easy lead if nobody wants the front.

Race 10 – Johnny Fox's (Bm72+)

Race type: BenchMark 72+, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace with no listed leaders. Avoidance, Fancy Red, Platinum Shot, True Player and Dug Another Hole are ON-PACE. Bakeel, Westbound, Famous Dain, Madame Magic, Masmelo, Odinaka and Too Darn Stormy are MIDFIELD. Rally The Troops and Truly Loyal are BACKMARKER. Truly Loyal is disadvantaged.
Punty read: *Truly Loyal is the Win bet, and I'll be honest about the pace map. He's a BACKMARKER with a disadvantaged map factor on a moderate pace, but he's the one with the sectionals to match, the fastest last-600m, last-400m and time on the sheet, and he won at Ascot over 1400m last start. The moderate pace is the risk, so he needs the field to run home fast. Famous Dain is the place bet, MIDFIELD on the moderate pace and with a 2nd at Ascot over 1400m last start. Westbound is the midfielder with a 4th at Lark Hill over 1100m, and Too Darn Stormy is the late backmarker that could run down the ON-PACE group if they start to fade.

Why A real chance — but at $2.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

Why Midfield runner with a 2nd at Ascot 1400m last start, and the place is the safer ticket on a moderate pace than the win.

Why Backmarker with a 1st over 1300m at Kalgoorlie last start and the closing run to pick up the pieces if the leaders go soft.

SEQUENCE LANES

EARLY QUADDIE (R3–R6)

Smart: 2,3,4,1 / 2,4,6 / 15,3,4,1 / 7,4 (96 combos x $0.3646 = $35.00) -- 36.5% flexi
Punty's take: Last Stylebender and Streamlined anchor the tight legs, with R5 and R6 wide open. The flexi sits above the 30% floor, so this is a solid play with a $5 to $10 winner in the wide legs needed to pay well.

QUADDIE (R7–R10)

Smart: 9,11,4,10 / 7,10,5 / 1,11,7,2 / 14,4,5,13 (192 combos x $0.33854 = $65.00) -- 33.9% flexi
Punty's take: Bassett Hound is the tight anchor in R7, with R8 and R10 wide open. Three of the four legs are open races, so this is a risky ticket with a high outlay, but the flexi clears the 30% floor and the payout is there if the chaos lands.

BIG 6 (R5–R10)

Smart: 15,3,4 / 7,4,2,1,3 / 9,11,4,10,3 / 7,10,5,12 / 1,11,7,2 / 14,4,5,13 (4800 combos x $0.001042 = $5.00) -- 0.10% flexi
Punty's take: Four of the six legs are open, so the hit rate is a long shot and the 0.10% flexi floor says this is a lottery ticket. Treat it as entertainment only and don't let it eat into the bigger plays.

NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK

1 - Malastar's blinkers
Malastar carries GEAR CHANGES: Blinkers: ON (first time). He's a LEADER with a 2nd at Ascot over 1000m last start, so the blinkers are the sharpest gear change on the card for a horse that wants the front.
2 - Streamlined's first-up record
Streamlined's 1st-up record reads 3:2-0-0, and he won at Ascot over 1600m last start. A first-up winner in a moderate pace race is the sort of shape I like.
3 - Bassett Hound's winning run
Bassett Hound's extended form reads 1st, 1st, 1st, with the last three starts all wins, one of them at Ascot over 1000m. The hot pace sprint suits a horse that sits midfield and waits.

FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY

Back the three legs of the Big 3, let the sprints do their thing, and don't go chasing a roughie past the budget. Ascot's a long day, so pace yourselves, you lot.
