For all of Punty's tips for Laverton, head to https://punty.ai/tips/laverton-2026-10-24
Rightio Degenerates, Laverton on a Good track with nil rain in the last 24 hours and gusts of 31.5km/h, six races and a card where most of the early speed sits in the slow-pace events. Grab a coffee, we've got work to do.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Laverton, 1200m to 1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good (Nil last 24hrs, 10mm last 7 days)
Weather: Fine, live gusts 31.5km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Races 1, 2, 3 and 6 all carry a Slow Pace line, race 4 and race 5 are Moderate. Race 1 has Inspirational Mac and Unruly Dame as the only real rear-end types, so the speed is largely on-pace runners. Race 6 has four backmarkers in a slow race, which is the one that could turn into a sit-and-wait sprint.
Jockeys to follow:
Ms Casey Hunter: six rides, including Mystery Bullet in race 4 and Precast in race 5, and she has Danea Rock in the race 6 mix
Ms Ava Catarino: six rides, with Inspirational Mac in race 1 and Addictive Dream in race 3 the two that matter most to the card
Ms Simone Altieri: six rides, and Buon Amici in race 2 is her headline ride
Stables to respect:
Jacquelyn Scott (8 runners): the biggest string on the card, with Smart Return and Precast in race 5 and Run Teddy Run and Lacevinsky in race 6
R J Malpass (7 runners): Addictive Dream and Casino Royale both in the mix, with Fries With That in race 3 as well
Malcolm Mackenzie (6 runners): Power To Rule and What About Moi in race 4, plus Blowin' Smoke in race 3
Punty's take: Right, this is a card that rewards the people who read the pace maps. Six races, and the early speed in most of them is ON-PACE rather than out front, so nobody is going to be walking in front of a locomotive. Race 1 is the one I like most for a bet, because Inspirational Mac is the best value price on the card and the race is set up for a slow tempo that I'm happy to fight through. Race 2 has Buon Amici sitting on the speed with a clean run at it, while race 3 is the trio of Addictive Dream, Blowin' Smoke and Magic Money with the rest of the field sitting in the middle. Race 4 looks like the one that could go off script, with Power To Rule, Casino Royale and Mystery Bullet all wanting the same lead. Race 5 is the banker race, Climb On Top has won his last three starts and he's the one everyone has to chase. Race 6 is a backmarker's dream if the leaders stall, which is why Boab Boy is the one I'm paying for but Got Lucky has to be watched every step.
What it means for you: Be aggressive on Boab Boy and Climb On Top because those two prices are the ones I'd be happy to lean on, and protect on Race 2 and Race 4 where the pace is a bit open. Race 3 is a mess of midfield runners so the each-way on Addictive Dream is the play, keep your roughies small and spread across the card. The quaddie across races 3 to 6 is built around the two banker legs in races 5 and 6, so the tight parts are Climb On Top and Boab Boy. Keep your Big 3 multi on the three shortest priced winners. Any value sits with the roughies and the place bets, not the favourites.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Buon Amici (Race 2, No.4) — $2.44
Why On-pace from barrier 4 with a Good track record of 14 starts for 1 win, 1 second and 4 thirds, and a 3rd at Leonora last start is the strongest run in the field.
2 - Climb On Top (Race 5, No.1) — $1.97
Why Three straight wins coming into this, 9 wins from 28 starts on good, and the one horse everyone else in race 5 has to beat.
3 - Inspirational Mac (Race 1, No.3) — $2.55
Why Second at Leinster last start, beaten 1.9L over 1000m, and he's the best value price in a slow maiden with a fair bit of ground to make up.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 12.26 = $122.60
Race 1 – Desert Sands Contractors Mdn
Race type: MAIDEN, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace. I Am A Rockstar ON-PACE, Willyabrup ON-PACE, Inspirational Mac MIDFIELD, Sambuca Rose MIDFIELD, Unruly Dame BACKMARKER.
Punty read: Inspirational Mac is the bet here, and it's the value bet on the card at $2.55 with a 38.7% win chance. He's midfield in a slow race, so he has to pick off the leaders late, and that's a risk I'm happy to take. He ran second at Leinster last start over 1000m, beaten 1.9L, and his form is the best of the maiden field. I Am A Rockstar sits on the speed and has been caught wide twice, so he's the one who can lead them into trouble. Willyabrup is six kilos up on last start and the one I'd watch for a bounce. Unruly Dame is the back of the field and only gets a look if this turns into a sprint from the back, which it won't.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Inspirational Mac (No.3) — $2.55 / $1.40
Bet $15.00 Win, return $38.25
Prob 38.7% | Place: 54.5% | Value: 0.99x Steady since tip
Why Second at Leinster 1000m last start, and he's the one with the form and the value in a slow maiden.
2. I Am A Rockstar (No.1) — $2.50 / $1.32
Bet Tracked
Prob 28.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Willyabrup (No.2) — $4.00 / $1.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.7% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.79x Steady since tip
Why Finished 4th at Leinster last start after interference, and he's the one who could bounce back if the race is run to his pace.
Roughie: Unruly Dame (No.5) — $17.00 / $3.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.9% | Place: 16.7% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why He's the backmarker in a slow maiden, so if the front pair go hard early and the race is quick at the end, he might get a run at it.
Race 2 – Shire Of Laverton Commemorative (Cl b)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace. Leg Godt ON-PACE, Buon Amici ON-PACE, Donatally MIDFIELD, Tiny Champion MIDFIELD, Gigi Gogo MIDFIELD.
Punty read: Buon Amici is the one I'm backing in this race at $2.44. He's ON-PACE from barrier 4 and 14 starts on good have given him 1 win, 1 second and 4 thirds, which is the best Good record in the field. His last start was a sixth at Kalgoorlie, but the excuses are right there in the form, bumped and hampered in earlier runs, and that's a horse who's been unlucky rather than bad. Leg Godt is the danger, he won at Leinster 1000m last start and he's got the speed to chase. Gigi Gogo is the one to watch from midfield, Tiny Champion is in the race too but only at the back of the group.
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)
1. Buon Amici (No.4) — $2.44 / $1.32
Bet $12.00 Win, return $29.28
Prob 44.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.08x Steady since tip
Why On-pace, consistent on good, and he's been bumped and hampered in earlier runs, so the form is better than the finish.
2. Leg Godt (No.1) — $2.84 / $1.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.9% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.68x ▲4% since tip
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Gigi Gogo (No.5) — $5.20 / $2.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 30.6% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why Second at Leinster 1400m last start, from midfield, and the one who can run on if the race is run hard early.
Roughie: Donatally (No.2) — $10.00 / $3.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.6% | Place: 17.8% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why Bumped and hampered in each of his last two starts, and the best sectional time in the race if he can get a clear run.
Race 3 – Regis Resources (Bm56+)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace. Addictive Dream ON-PACE, Fries With That ON-PACE, Blowin' Smoke MIDFIELD, Gingeriffic MIDFIELD, Hot Nova MIDFIELD, Magic Money MIDFIELD, Mr Hollywood MIDFIELD, Size Matters MIDFIELD.
Punty read: Addictive Dream is the each-way bet, $13.00 split between win and place. He won at Leinster 1400m last start and has 4 wins from 17 starts on good, so he's the one with the form in a race full of midfield runners. He's five kilos up on last start, which is the only knock. Blowin' Smoke was hampered at Carnarvon and has the track record here, he's the danger. Magic Money is the one who might outrun his barrier 7 draw. Hot Nova is 13kg down from last start, and that's a line worth watching. Size Matters is the roughie, but the weight note says 0 wins from 2 at 59kg, so the price needs to pay off.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Addictive Dream (No.1) — $4.00 / $1.50
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P), collects $35.75 if it wins ($26.00 win + $9.75 place), $9.75 if it only places
Prob 23.3% | Place: 58.2% | Value: 0.93x ▲3% since tip
Why Won at Leinster last start and has the best good-track form in the race, with the place as the safety net.
2. Blowin' Smoke (No.3) — $4.20 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.76x ▼8% since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Magic Money (No.6) — $3.80 / $1.52
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.3% | Place: 61.1% | Value: 0.62x ▲3% since tip
Why Third at Leinster 1000m last start and the one with the speed to finish at the top of the market.
Roughie: Size Matters (No.8) — $14.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 28.8% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why Midfield in a slow race, so he needs the leaders to stall and he's got to be quick at the end. Good record is 2 wins from 17 starts.
Race 4 – TABtouch (Bm56+)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace. Casino Royale ON-PACE, Mystery Bullet ON-PACE, Power To Rule ON-PACE, What About Moi MIDFIELD, City Of Sin BACKMARKER, Dragonflies MIDFIELD, Sanctions MIDFIELD.
Punty read: Power To Rule is the bet, $10.68 to win. He's ON-PACE from barrier 7, won at Leonora 1200m last start from 2nd and has 3 wins from 21 starts on good. The pace is moderate, which suits a horse who sits just behind the leaders. Casino Royale is the danger, he won at Leinster 1000m last start and has the most good track starts in the race. Mystery Bullet is the sit-and-punch type on the speed, so he's one to watch. Dragonflies is the roughie, the best distance record in the field.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.68 pool)
1. Power To Rule (No.3) — $3.30 / $1.70
Bet $10.68 Win, return $35.24
Prob 29.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.97x Steady since tip
Why Won at Leonora last start from 2nd at Leinster, and he sits just behind the leaders in a moderate pace.
2. Casino Royale (No.1) — $4.00 / $1.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.0% | Place: 32.8% | Value: 0.76x ▲6% since tip
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Mystery Bullet (No.2) — $4.60 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.9% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.82x ▼3% since tip
Why Second at Leinster 1400m last start and the one who runs on from the speed.
Roughie: Dragonflies (No.6) — $15.00 / $4.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.8% | Place: 11.9% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why Best distance record in the race at 3 wins from 15 starts, and a moderate pace gives him a chance to pick up the pieces if the leaders tire.
Race 5 – Skippers Aviation Sprint (Bm64+)
Race type: BenchMark 64+;, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace. Climb On Top ON-PACE, Repeater ON-PACE, Lady Coco ON-PACE, Shasfa ON-PACE, Smart Return ON-PACE, Our Kiwi Princess MIDFIELD, Shooting Kontiki MIDFIELD, Precast BACKMARKER.
Punty read: Climb On Top is the bet at $1.97 to win, $10.50 on the nose. He's won his last three starts, first-up he has 3 wins from 6 starts, and his Good record is 9 wins from 28 starts. He's five kilos up on last start, but the form is so strong I can't see the weight being the issue. Repeater is the one who can chase him down, he's on-pace with 5 wins from 24 starts and a 2 from 4 combo with Malpass's stable. Our Kiwi Princess is midfield and the one who can run on late. Precast is the backmarker at $29.00, a fun one but not a real chance.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Climb On Top (No.1) — $2.10 / $1.09
Bet $10.50 Win, return $22.05
Prob 41.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.87x ▲3% since tip
Why Three straight wins coming into this, and the one horse who has to be beaten in a moderate sprint.
2. Repeater (No.2) — $5.20 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.6% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.86x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Our Kiwi Princess (No.4) — $7.40 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.9% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.88x Steady since tip
Why Midfield with a good time rank, and the one who could run on late if the leaders tire.
Roughie: Lady Coco (No.3) — $10.00 / $2.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.72x Steady since tip
Why Speed Rank 2 and on-pace from barrier 3, so if the leaders get stuck up front she can sit handy, but the weight note says 0 wins from 2 at 57 to 60kg.
Race 6 – Brightstar Resources Laverton Cup (Bm64+)
Race type: BenchMark 64+;, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace. Boab Boy MIDFIELD, Lacevinsky MIDFIELD, Ruler Rocket MIDFIELD, Western Impact MIDFIELD, Got Lucky BACKMARKER, Danea Rock BACKMARKER, Deal Obtained BACKMARKER, Run Teddy Run BACKMARKER.
Punty read: Boab Boy is the bet at $2.20 to win, $13.00 on the nose. He's midfield, 7 wins from 32 starts on good and he won at Leonora 1600m last start. His last start was a fifth at Kalgoorlie that came with bumped and hampered excuses, so he's the bounce-back type. Got Lucky is the danger, he's a backmarker who won at Leinster 1600m last start and has the speed to swoop late. Western Impact finished second at Leinster last start and is the one who can pick up the pieces in a slow run. Danea Rock is the roughie, he won at Leonora 1600m last start and has no true weight issue, just the warning on 57 to 58kg.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Boab Boy (No.1) — $2.20 / $1.10
Bet $13.00 Win, return $28.60
Prob 29.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.65x Steady since tip
Why Won at Leonora 1600m last start and is the one in the best form for the trip in a slow race.
2. Got Lucky (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.95x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.45 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Western Impact (No.5) — $8.00 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.20x Steady since tip
Why Second at Leinster 1600m last start and the one who can run on if the midfield gets a bit of a cut-up.
Roughie: Danea Rock (No.6) — $11.00 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.6% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.84x Steady since tip
Why Won at Leonora 1600m last start and sits at the back in a slow race, so if the leaders stall he can drop onto the speed and finish late.
SEQUENCE LANES
QUADDIE (R3–R6)
Smart: 6,1,3,8 / 3,2,1 / 1,2,6,4 / 1,4 (96 combos x $0.3646 = $35.00) -- 36.5% flexi
Punty's take: Climb On Top and Boab Boy keep the back end tight, with Race 4 the open leg at three runners. The flexi sits above the 30% floor on this ticket and it's a $20 outlay, so the payout depends on a longer-priced winner somewhere in races 3 and 4. Solid play, not a big payday unless one of the roughies gets home.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Hot Nova's weight drop
Hot Nova is 13kg down from last start, and the weight note says best at heavier weights. He's a Race 3 runner and the lighter weight is the one thing worth watching in the market.
2 - Climb On Top's first-up record
Climb On Top has 3 wins from 6 first-up, and he's won his last three starts, Leinster, Moora and Broome. Nobody's been able to stop him yet.
3 - Run Teddy Run at $51.00
Run Teddy Run is $51.00 with 2 wins from 49 starts, and the weight note says 0 wins from 2 at 71kg. Nobody's ringing the bell for that one, but the odds are glorious.
FINAL WORD FROM THE LOOSE UNIT LOUNGE
Six races, one good track, and a bloke with a notepad telling you exactly where to put your money. Stick to the staked horses, keep the roughies small, and let the banker races do the heavy lifting. Back you lot on the day, Punty's got the cheat sheet.
