Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Bunbury, head to https://punty.ai/tips/bunbury-2026-11-03
Rightio Legends, seven races, a Soft 5 going, showers rolling through and a card that runs 1000m to 1675m. Bunbury is a rough old track to sort out before the first jump, but the form and the maps give us enough to work with. The speed is spread thin in the first two and the back half of the card is where the racing gets interesting. Let's get into it before the bookies start moving things around.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Bunbury, 1000m to 1675m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 5 (Nil rainfall last 24hrs, 21.4mm last 7 days)
Weather: Showers, live gusts 33.3km/h
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Race 1 and Race 2 are slow, Race 3 is moderate with two fighting for the lead, Race 4 is moderate, Race 5 is slow, and Races 6 and 7 are genuine with one clear leader in each. Only Race 3 has a genuine lead tussle, so the first two races will probably be decided by who gets a clean run rather than who sets the pace.
Jockeys to follow:
Austin Galati: 7 rides, 14.1% at this track (320/2276) and 20% over his last 100. He has Ruthless Bloom in Race 4, Miss Valmalenco in Race 6 and Budino in Race 7, so he is in the thick of the card.
Jarrad Noske: 7 rides, 11% at this track (499/4537), and he's on Magnificent Malcom in Race 1, South Hoba in Race 5 and The Mighty Bell in Race 6. Three of the bigger chances ride for the one bloke.
Jade Mc Naught: 7 rides, including Rulesofadmiration, Crypto Fortune and Extreme Ruler. He's got a lot of horses but a light strike rate at this track lately (7.7% at this track, 1% over his last 100), so I'm not paying extra for him just because he's busy.
Stables to respect:
T M Wolfe (5 runners): Cartier Glow in Race 3 is the one with the numbers, at 9% at this track (28/312) and 11% over the last 100. Wolfe also has Point Rocks, Magali Magic, Free To Fly and Galactic Community spread across the card, so he's got real depth.
Summer Dickson (4 runners): Wardikcar in Race 2, Rory's Revenge in Race 5, She's Da Val in Race 4 and Miss Valmalenco in Race 6. Wardikcar runs at 10.6% at this track (104/982).
P J Naylor (4 runners): Pretty Dandy in Race 1, Milly's Clever Too in Race 5, Dreamlord in Race 6 and Varazze in Race 7. A lot of them are long prices, so this stable is more about the wider ticket than any single banker.
Punty's take: Bunbury today is a card of two halves. Races 1 and 2 are slow-pace affairs with no genuine leader on the map, so this is where the sit-and-sprint types get the trip they want. Race 3 is the mad one with two leaders fighting over the front, and the wide barriers on Extreme Ruler and Cartier Glow mean one of them will have to work hard to cross. Once we hit Race 4 the moderate pace looks good for the midfielders with the sectionals, and Races 6 and 7 are genuine-pace races where a clear leader can either ride away or get run down by the chasers.
Race 6 and Race 7 are the ones I'd screenshot. Just Gifted is the only leader in Race 6 and Galactic Community is the only one in Race 7, and both have ugly recent excuses or poor draws to deal with. The Mighty Bell and Merivale Louvain sit in the middle of those two shapes, and that's where the value lives on this card. The short-priced chances in Race 2 and Race 7 look like bankers, but they're short, so respect the price.
What it means for you: Be aggressive in the early races where the speed is thin and the sectionals tell the story. Stern Empire in Race 2 is the banker of the first half, so the Win bet is fine, but keep your expectations sensible at $1.70. Race 3 is the chaos race, and it's where I'd keep the stakes honest because the wide draws make the finish messy. Race 6 is where the Each Way on The Mighty Bell earns its keep, and Race 7 is about Merivale Louvain and whether the genuine pace suits the midfield runners. The Quaddie runs Race 4 through Race 7, and that's the ticket that either makes your day or leaves you grumbling at the telly.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Stern Empire (Race 2, No.7) — $1.70
Why Slow pace, nothing to challenge the front, and this bloke has sectionals that are fastest on the card's L600 and time. The shape works against him, but I'm not chasing a horse that just ran second at Belmont Park.
2 - South Hoba (Race 5, No.4) — $2.35
Why Sits handy in a slow race, and he's a winner over the last start at Northam 1600m. The shape is a touch against him, but his time is the fastest in the field and I'll take that every time.
3 - Merivale Louvain (Race 7, No.7) — $1.95
Why The genuine pace shape helps the midfield and the sectionals say he's been quick over the last 600 and 400. Plenty of value for a horse that's been winning when the race sets up for him.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × 7.79 = $77.90
Race 1 – Bunbury RSL Diggers Mdn
Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace on paper, and nobody maps to lead. Magnificent Malcom is the likeliest to find the front from barrier 5, and he has a natural sit to go with it. Heza Hellraiser from the midfield is the one the shape hurts most, so the race looks like it'll be won by whoever gets the cleanest trip from the pole side. My numbers say the shape suits Magnificent Malcom, who sits handy and gets the perfect run.
Punty read: Magnificent Malcom is the bet. He's a 7 start maiden with no wins yet, but the sectionals (L400 rank 2, time rank 2) and the sit behind an easy pace are the reasons he's first. He's yet to win on soft, which is a real knock, and his last start at Bunbury 1000m (8th, held up, slow start) is a bounce-back chance that the data supports. Eze Big Carl is the danger if the pace stays easy and he gets a clean run from barrier 7. Rulesofadmiration is the one to watch with blinkers going on first time.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Magnificent Malcom (No.1) — $2.90 / $1.30
Bet $15.00 Win, return $43.50
Prob 32.1% | Place: 64.5% | Value: 0.93x Steady since tip
Why He's the horse the race sets up for. A sit behind an easy pace, a nose roll going on for the first time and the sectionals say he's got something left at the end. He has been slow to the wire at this stage, but the price isn't in the ballpark of his chances.
2. Eze Big Carl (No.5) — $3.60 / $1.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.6% | Place: 54.2% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.45 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Rulesofadmiration (No.8) — $4.40 / $1.62
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.67x Steady since tip
Why Blinkers on first time and he won at Lark Hill 1050m last start (1st/9). That's a good sign, but I'm not putting money on a horse whose place price doesn't pay enough.
Roughie: Catchya Star (No.4) — $31.00 / $4.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.4% | Place: 11.8% | Value: 0.75x Steady since tip
Why He ran second at Lark Hill 1050m last start (2nd/9), so there's a run in him. If the favourites fall over and the pace stays easy, a $29 price gets a bit of pub-talk going.
Race 2 – Trevor Roche Memorial Mdn
Race type: Maiden, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, and nobody maps to lead or sit handy. The back half is where the expected pace helps, with Wardikcar, Autumn Sally and Crypto Fortune all helped by the shape. Agent Remington and Zali's Angel are drawn wide and have to work for cover. Stern Empire is midfield from barrier 3, so the shape is against him, but a slow race without a clear leader means he can take the trip he wants.
Punty read: Stern Empire is the bet. He's 7 starts on good with 2 seconds and no wins, which is a worry at this price, but his last-start 2nd at Belmont Park 1400m and the fastest L600 and time sectionals say he's the best horse in the race at the moment. His last few runs at Ascot came with excuses (held up, slow start), so he hasn't really had the trip he needs yet. Crypto Fortune is the danger from the back of the field, and Wardikcar is the one for the pace shape.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Stern Empire (No.7) — $1.70 / $1.04
Bet $13.00 Win, return $22.10
Prob 50.5% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.86x Steady since tip
Why Short price, I know. But he's the most likely winner in a slow race, his sectionals are the best on the card, and he's run second at Belmont Park last start. The short price is the cost of backing the right horse.
2. Crypto Fortune (No.9) — $4.60 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.0% | Place: 61.6% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.55 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Wardikcar (No.1) — $5.00 / $1.57
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.5% | Place: 54.7% | Value: 0.68x Steady since tip
Why Midfield with the shape helping, and his sectionals (L600 rank 2, L400 rank 2) say he runs on at the finish. He's had the excuse of being wide last start at Bunbury 1400m.
Roughie: Universal Duke (No.3) — $12.00 / $2.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 35.8% | Value: 0.81x Steady since tip
Why The shape is against him, so this one needs the leaders to come back to him. He ran third at Lark Hill 1050m last start and second at Kalgoorlie 1621m, so the finish is there if the race falls apart up front.
Race 3 – Cuprum Distillery - Vodka, Passionfruit & Soda Mdn
Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with two fighting for the front. Sandsational from barrier 5 and Cartier Glow from barrier 10 both want to lead, and Cartier Glow has to work from the wide gate to get there. That leaves Lucky Lea in the midfield as the one who gets the shape, while Extreme Ruler and Nicaboom have to find their own way home.
Punty read: Cartier Glow is the bet. He's the strongest chance in the field on the numbers and the leader's role suits his speed, though the shape is against him from barrier 10. He ran third at Bunbury 1100m last start, and his cross-over nose band goes on first time, which I'll give the stable credit for. Nicaboom is the danger from the back if the leaders fight each other into the ground. Sandsational is the one to watch if Cartier Glow can't cross from the wide gate.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Cartier Glow (No.7) — $3.30 / $1.55
Bet $15.00 Win, return $49.50
Prob 22.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.74x Steady since tip
Why He's the one most likely to lead or sit one out in a race that's moderate, and his form is strongest when the race is run at his pace. He's had a weight rise (2kg up) which is the knock, but the leading role and the form make him the bet.
2. Nicaboom (No.11) — $4.40 / $1.72
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.0% | Place: 53.6% | Value: 0.70x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.72 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Extreme Ruler (No.1) — $5.50 / $2.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.0% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why Good form at Bunbury (2nd at 1200m last start), but the wide barrier 9 and the shape being against him mean he needs everything to go his way.
Roughie: Sandsational (No.5) — $9.50 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.83x Steady since tip
Why Market support has come in heavily, from $12.00 to $9.50, so the money is backing him. If Cartier Glow gets pushed wide and has to work to cross, Sandsational gets the lead on his own terms.
Race 4 – Hyoketsu Summer Series Mdn
Race type: Maiden, 1675m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with no clear lead, though Helios Amigos, She's Resolute and Rock Monster are the likeliest to find the front. The wide draws for Profound Benefit, Kaikali and Multiple Choice are a worry for them. Ruthless Bloom from midfield gets the shape helping, and my numbers say the expected pace suits runners who are midfield, not the leaders.
Punty read: Ruthless Bloom is the bet. He's at the top of the form list, the shape suits him, and he's got a good Northam run of form with a 4th, a 2nd and a 3rd in his last three. He has no soft wins yet (Soft 2:0-0-0), which is the only knock. Spiritart is the danger, with blinkers off and visors on for the first time, and his sectionals are fastest on L600 and L400. Lexan'ruby is the one who finishes on the outside.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Ruthless Bloom (No.8) — $2.25 / $1.30
Bet $13.00 Win, return $29.25
Prob 33.5% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.75x Steady since tip
Why Midfield in a moderate race with the shape in his favour, and Austin Galati has been riding at this track at 14.1% (320/2276). The Northam form is strong and the trainer Robert Gulberti sends them out at 13.9% at this track.
2. Spiritart (No.9) — $4.20 / $1.72
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.0% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.92x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.72 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Lexan'ruby (No.10) — $7.50 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.98x Steady since tip
Why Fastest time on the sectionals and the second-best L600 and L400, so he finishes like a train if the pace is there. His last start at Northam was a 9th in a race he didn't get home.
Roughie: She's Da Val (No.11) — $11.00 / $3.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.5% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 0.71x Steady since tip
Why Drawn wide from barrier 10 and needs cover to get home, but her 5th at Northam over 1300m last start shows she's still in the mix. If the midfield gets tangled, she's the one to come from behind.
Race 5 – Swan Draught Hcp (C3)
Race type: Class 3, 1675m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, and South Hoba is the likeliest to find the front from barrier 5. The shape helps Cosmic Chaos, Regal Service and Milly's Clever Too, with the back half getting the run they want. South Hoba is the one the shape works against, but nobody else wants the lead, so he can sit handy and make his own pace.
Punty read: South Hoba is the bet. He's the one who maps to the front in a slow race with no rival, and his time is the fastest in the field. He won at Northam 1600m last start, which is a fresh win for a horse at this price. Point Rocks is the one to watch, with a Bunbury 1685m excuse last start (held up) and a good record at this track. Regal Service from the back is the danger if the leaders stop.
Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)
1. South Hoba (No.4) — $2.35 / $1.15
Bet $7.50 Win, return $17.63
Prob 36.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.85x Steady since tip
Why He's the horse most likely to take the front and hold it. He's won last start and has the fastest time on the sectionals, and the price is short because he's the best horse in a slow race.
2. Point Rocks (No.5) — $4.20 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.3% | Place: 54.8% | Value: 0.77x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.55 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Regal Service (No.2) — $4.00 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.66x Steady since tip
Why Back-marker helped by the shape, and he's been running on at the finish. He's up 6kg from his last start, which is a worry, but he ran second at Lark Hill 950m in his last outing before that.
Roughie: Cosmic Chaos (No.1) — $10.00 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.9% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.69x Steady since tip
Why The shape suits him as a midfielder and his sectionals are the fastest at L600 and L400. He's got a 2nd at Lark Hill 1400m last start, so the form's there.
Race 6 – Redink Homes Southwest Hcp (C3)
Race type: Class 3, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Just Gifted the only leader from barrier 3 and nothing else wanting the front. Miss Valmalenco, River Angel and Schuhbeck will all be chasing, and So Immaculate and Miss Valmalenco are drawn wide. The Mighty Bell from midfield is the one the shape helps most, with the leader going hard and the midfield getting the run home.
Punty read: The Mighty Bell is the bet, and the each-way is the right way to play him. He's the fastest on the L600 and L400 and he won at Bunbury 1000m last start, which is the most recent form on the card at this distance. Miss Valmalenco is the danger off a long spell, with a first-up record of 2 starts and no wins, and her sectionals are strong. Just Gifted has three bad excuses in his recent runs (interference twice and a wide run) so he's a horse who might turn things around if he gets the lead.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. The Mighty Bell (No.7) — $5.00 / $1.72
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $50.40 if it wins ($37.50 win + $12.90 place), $12.90 if it only places
Prob 21.8% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 1.09x Steady since tip
Why Fastest L600 and L400 on the card, and he won at Bunbury 1000m last start. The shape helps midfielders in a genuine pace race, and Jarrad Noske riding him is a good sign at this track.
2. Miss Valmalenco (No.4) — $3.60 / $1.62
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.68x Steady since tip
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Yamashita's Gold (No.2) — $5.00 / $1.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 45.1% | Value: 0.76x Steady since tip
Why He's two wins from five starts on soft, which is his best surface. He's been held up at Ascot last start, and the blinkers went back on, so the stable is trying something.
Roughie: River Angel (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.78x Steady since tip
Why Last start was a 2nd at Collie over 1100m (1.2L), and she's 3-0-2 at this track with two seconds in the record. She sits handy behind Just Gifted, so if the leader fades she's the one who can take advantage.
Race 7 – Real Punters Play Here TABtouch Hcp (C1)
Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace with Galactic Community the only leader from barrier 11, and he has to work to cross from the outside. He's got He's A Hustler, Free To Fly and Universal Hotness chasing him. Merivale Louvain from midfield gets the shape helping, with the leader going hard and the midfielders getting the run home.
Punty read: Merivale Louvain is the bet. He's a one-time winner at Bunbury 1100m and the fastest L600 and L400 on the sectionals card. He's from midfield and the shape helps him, and the market is supporting him at $1.95, so the money agrees. Budino from midfield is the danger off a Kalgoorlie 1200m win last start, and He's A Hustler has a good placing record. Galactic Community has a 1st at Collie over 1100m last start, so he's the roughie if the pace stays genuine and he gets clear.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Merivale Louvain (No.7) — $2.00 / $1.17
Bet $15.00 Win, return $30.00
Prob 34.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.69x Steady since tip
Why Midfield in a genuine-pace race with the shape helping, and sectionals fastest on L600 and L400. He's won at Bunbury and run second at Belmont Park, and Joey Azzopardi knows the way around him.
2. Budino (No.3) — $5.50 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.6% | Place: 54.0% | Value: 0.97x Steady since tip
Why A real chance — but at $1.95 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. He's A Hustler (No.2) — $8.50 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.30x Steady since tip
Why On-pace from barrier 2 and he's got two seconds at this distance. He ran third at Northam 1100m last start, and the winker going on again is worth noting.
Roughie: Galactic Community (No.10) — $18.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.0% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.54x Steady since tip
Why The only leader on the map, so if the race doesn't come back at him he'll get the lead on his own terms. He won the Collie 1100m last start by a whisker (0.1L), so he's got the speed to go with it.
SEQUENCE LANES
QUADDIE (R4–R7)
Smart: 8,9 / 4,2,5 / 7,4,2 / 7,3,6 (54 combos x $0.3704 = $20.00) -- 37% flexi
Punty's take: Race 4 and Race 5 are tight with Ruthless Bloom and South Hoba on top, Race 6 is the trio that needs The Mighty Bell to fire, and Race 7 is the Merivale Louvain shape. The ticket sits at the minimum 30% flexi floor with 37% flexi shown, so it's a play with honest risk and a decent return if the favourites hold. It's a cheap entertainment-only ticket if the longshot doesn't land, so treat it as a sweetener rather than the main game.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Spiritart goes blinkers off and visors on
Spiritart drops the blinkers and puts on visors for the first time in Race 4, and he's still priced at $4.00. Worth watching as a sign the stable wants something different from him.
2 - Just Gifted has three excuses to answer
Three of Just Gifted's last runs came with interference or a wide run, including 10th at Bunbury 1200m with interference. He's the only leader in Race 6 and has a point to prove.
3 - Galactic Community is the bloke who turns up to the party alone
Galactic Community is the only leader in Race 7 from barrier 11, and he's at $18.00. Like a mate who shows up with a tuba and nobody asks him to play it, he's either the star of the show or the quietest bloke in the room.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
That's the card, you beautiful bastards. Get your tickets early, pick your spots and don't chase the favourite at $1.70 like it owes you money. Back the horses the form backs, and let's see who's bringing the bacon home by the last race.
